The car bombing of Sam Rothstein/Frank Rosenthal in Casino(1995) - What Really Happened?

Tonight on Nightly News we cover the bombing of Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal’s Cadillac Eldorado on October 4, 1982. This incident happened in the parking lot of the Tony Roma’s restaurant on East Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas. The fictionalized version of this is shown in the movie Casino (1995). Robert De Niro portrays Mr. Rosenthal as the Ace Rothstein character.

Ace Rothstein: Whoever it was, they put the dynamite under the passenger's side. But what they didn't know, what nobody outside the factory knew, was that that model car was made with a metal plate under the driver's seat. It's the only thing that saved my life.
