It was another local blackout in Detroit. Back in those days we lived road games so we could watch them on local TV. The Silverdome was just to big and especially for a bad team. Even when they had some really good seasons in the 90s The Silverdome still only sold out on average 3 our of 8 games. Even the playoffs vs the Packers in 93 was blackedout locally because they couldn't sell 80,000 tickets in 3 days but it was still a huge crowd of 70,000 fans.
The fans(Millenials?) that are hating on Matthew Stafford and saying we need to trade him, need to watch games like this. So basically any game before Stafford. I'll have to look it up, but I wonder how many 4000 yard passing seasons there were in lions history before we drafted Stafford.
by virtue of this take, I am not a millennial. Thanks so much. I think Stafford is better than most of your fellow Lions fans believe he is. They know nothing of Erik Kramer and Rodney Peete, the musical chairs.
@@bradjames891 thanx for taking the time to write your thoughts and reminding me of this post. I said I'd look up the Lions QBs with 4000 yard seasons. Scott Mitchell did in once in 1995 and Jon Kitna did it twice in 2006 & 2007. Stafford matched that from 2011-2013, passed that total in 2014, and now has (7) 4000 yard seasons as of 2018. If we can't get to and win a Super Bowl with Matthew Stafford, I doubt we ever will.
@@craigpaulson3503 and the thing is Stafford never had a running game or running back that would run for 1,000 yards he only had this happen once in his time with the Lions and he still pass for 4,000 and he would had gotten it last year if he didn't hurt his back how many Qb do what Stafford do without a running game not very many
Stafford would probably love the pass protection these lions QB's gave their lousy QB's but part of that is because they had to defend the run vs Sanders.
@@jameslawson2663 Rodney Peete was NOT excellent. A turnover machine, very inconsistent with his accuracy, and as stated, regularly injured. Decent runner. Ironically, the one game he was indeed excellent was against the Lions in the playoffs with Philadelphia.
Wow I had no idea know that mark carrier td happened on the last fn play of the game to break a shutout lol. Used to see this highlight all the time with the Tampa Bay radio call and carriers celebration making it seem like a meaningful play lol.
Just GLAD to hear that BILLY SIMS hasn't been forgotten! Billy Sims is SECOND to NOBODY!! It was Barry's HONOR to wear #20(he wore #21 @OSU) and truth be told, if not for injury, Billy's Highlight Reel would be just as long and just as SPECTACULAR but for the short time he was active ...Billy Sims DID his THAAANG!!! *Remember the HIGH KARATE KICK and HIGH STEPPIN' ...SIDEWAYS???!!!!!!!! #ONEofaKIND #GODBLESSBillySims
Those Lions uniforms are some sweet looking threads. They need to go back to them.
Barry Sanders=G.O.A.T.

Now I remember why I watched this short!
Serious throwback game, Creamsicle Bucs at The SilverDome and Back when both teams were in the NFC Central...Go 🦁’s💯
1:34:02 Respect - One legend to another
Thanks to Da Coach
WOW. 33-0...the Detroit Lions?!
Much appreciated, thank you

Matt Stafford holds the record for most passing yards by a QB that has never won a playoff game. BFD

My 2 favorite players are Dan Marino and Barry Sanders, I wished they both played for the same team. I'm pretty sure they would have a few rings.
I heard right when Barry retired, that Miami wanted him.
RIP Pontiac Silverdome
@4:21 Barry sanders 13 yard carry
@6:20 Barry sanders cuts back for TD
@35:53 Barry sanders breaking tackles
This is what I came to see.
You should have/could have listed every Sanders carry for us - every one is spectacular. But pretty surprised you didn't list the 32-yard run...
Best Lions QBs in the last 30 yrs? Dave Krieg, Matt Stafford, Bob Galiano, Jon Kitna, Rodney Peete.
Damn, that's a bad way to blow a shutout
Bob Gagliano for President
If Berry Sanders had a qb like Matthew Stafford had a rb like Berry they both would had a SB
The rest of the team still sucked
Detroit had a good rebuild season in 89 the lions of the 90s was pretty desent all in all
Nice to see Bob Gagliano start this game Rodney Peete was terribly overrated
Desert Dogg ... Heisman Trophy runner up, 16,000 plus NFL passing yards doesn’t sound overrated to me. Check Gagliano stats. Rodney was a much better QB.
@@johnhollandjr.2632 Peete was a bum. He sucked as a Lion.
You’re out of your mind. Pete was an excellent QB, his biggest fault was he couldn’t stay healthy.

Just now watching this game from the past. Scott Mitchell in 1995 had over 4000 yards passing was his only year to do so though
1989 the year we almost gave up on the cowboys. Thankfully we didn't!
Thank God, the Bucs changed their uniforms
Well RUclips decided to show me this the day the Lions get whooped 47-7. Very intriguing
When will the Lions get a RB as good as Sanders or Sims? The lack of a quality running game is preventing that team from being great.

Bellcity should check out Kerryon Johnson heard he’s not to bad 🙃
No team will EVER get an RB as good as Barry. Ever.
When will any team get a running back as good as Barry Sanders?
Lions went to playoffs 6 times in Barry’s 10 years. Four times in 23 years or whatever since he retired. As good as you think he was, he was better.
Only 5 times during Barry's career.
The Detroit Lions - rarely good, never great, frequently terrible for 60 straight seasons.
1991
1991 and 2011
Things have finally turned!
Pat Haggerty was the referee in this game!
Matt Stafford was born in Sanders rookie season, 30 years later nothing has changed, we are still 4-12, 7-9 football team with no hope for the future.
thats why Barry retired
Can't believe the Lions blew the shutout on that last play. Horrible defense.
WOW...
nice Field
been there
my self
Gotdamn😥! Got Billy Sims outchea' looking like Wyatt Earp!😁😁😁 #🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫(6gun) SALUTEtoWILDBILL
Is it okay that sportscaster James "JB" Brown call Tim Ryan "the glasses" professor Ryan?
Tim Ryan: The best combination of versatility and high-quality of any announcer, period.
All i can say is you didn't see there player's acting the fool....
