I believe this was one of Madden’s most emotionally torn broadcasts due his love for his friend John for the rams, and his notable deep respect for the 49ers. He’s routing for the Rams, but knows the 49ers are tough to beat.

How did they re-emerge in 1989? 1989 was their crowning achievement of the 1980s. Defending champs go 14-2; only allowed 2 touchdowns in the playoffs. Won the tittle 55-10. This was their peak.

No one was beating that '89 49ers team when it mattered. I called that season the 49ers Invitational in the Super Bowl XXIV throwback video and I stand by that. To win 18 straight ROAD GAMES...that's the greatest team I've ever seen. It took a ridiculous amount of good fortune from a great team that couldn't even score a touchdown on them to end their two year reign as champs. No one has ever come closer to three-peating.

Quite a few magazines/newspapers at the start of the following season actually had the Rams taking the next step and dethroning the 49ers, winning the NFC and by extension the Super Bowl because of the NFC's power at the time. Joe was the best … and so damn smooth on top of that! And the cherry on top … John Madden and Pat Summerall in the booth.

The Chiefs/Bengals throwback choice for this week will be interesting to see since this channel already uploaded the famous 03 Chad Johnson guarantee game
Maybe week 11 1988 (31-28) or week 1 1986 (which played a big role in the AFC Wild Card race)?

This is for the playoffs and I think they did that during the regular season matchup

They already did the ocho cinco guarantee game. Chiefs vs bungles 2018 night game in arrowhead would be a good throwback. Mahomes first year as starter. That was the game where Kareem hunt teleported.

That '89 Niners team was the second best Niner team EVER, right behind the '84 team.

The 1984 team was a little more balanced but the 1989 team with Rice was more explosive. The 1989 49ers playoff dominance gives them the slight edge in my opinion

3:00 play of the game by Lott saving a TD and preventing the Rams from going up 10-0. Could have been a vet different outcome has Lott not made that play.

The muddy field probably kept this closer than it should’ve been and was still a 30-3 beat down Nobody was beating that 1989 49er team .
