Firstly, I do not comment on YT videos... I came across Eren's channel few days ago. My mind is blown. His work is incredible, absolutely love his storytelling, passion, dedication and the mood of it all. Don't even need his presets, but bought it just to support him and his great work. I only shoot mobile, but learned so much, thank you!
I've had this lens for many years and it still impresses me. One thing mentioned but not expanded on in the video is that that manual focus clutch, once pulled back reveals a comprehensive DOF scale which makes easy hyperfocal settings for deep focus landscapes and cityscapes. This was the way to work for decades before autofocus and once mastered will give consistent and repeatable results with no guesswork.
Eren - you understated this lens dude - it's absolutely phenomenal. Many of the best images on my website and portfolio were taken with this lens - over many years. It is absolutely brilliant the way you can get right into somebody's face, get it in focus and still blur the background. I wish I had never sold it. However, I had to get out of Fuji XF for all my paid work and paying customers. I found for weddings and gigs and my events work, (particularly low light), the RAF files just couldn't 'cut the mustard'. I'm with a FF system and the 24mm 1.8s lens I use, is magical, but it's shaped like a toilet-roll with about the same ergonomics. Man, I miss that gorgeous lens.
Nice footage....as always Eren. Also, I really like your down to earth style when it comes to reviews. Since shooting with Fuji, I really love how the system has turned me from being a photographer to a hybrid shooter. It's pretty much become a natural routine to exchange the "movie and stills" switch back and forth on almost every shoot. It's so much fun.
Just a thank you for all your posts this year. When you first posted a review on the 56mm f/1.2 a long time ago I bought one, I've been using the 35mm f/1.4 since I bought my X-Pro 1 and X-T1 from new. It's interesting you now use both. You've changed my way of looking at London, I too now go out in the rain. Oddly I sold my V recently, preferring my T1. I can't thank you enough, you've been an inspiration to me and the way I now see things. Please keep posting, may I wish you a successful and prosperous new year.
Nice. Your work is so worth watching. First time visitor, I’m going to take a look at your other stuff now. And the content helped me make a decision on the lens, I’m getting it.
@@erenjam yes, a really good one and since I have shifted to X-E4 it is matching the body size.

Im having trouble resolving the 16mm 2.8 on my XT5. Some nice enough images, but definitely some sharpness issues. Not sure if its just me, but I have no resolution problems with any of my other fuji lenses. Even the tiny 27mm 2.8
Nice one. Yes this lens is a gem, one of the first I bought for the Fuji system. I use my Sigma 18-35 mostly these days but the 16/1.4 stays (sometimes 2mm matters!). I find myself liking 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio shots a lot with this lens. I would love for Fuji to add more crop modes, some lenses just sing better than at the standard 3:2.
I had that lens but the auto focus was something which I didn’t particular like, saying that it was one of my favourite lens's until I purchased 18mm f/1.4
Thank you Eren! Super helpful! Your work is beautiful!. I made up my mind to add this little beauty the rest.! Can't wait to use it.! Sincerely, Sylvia
Another wonderful video! I absolutely love this lens but when it came out it was too expensive…so purchased the f2.8 version and love that too. I would be interested to see your opinion on the two lenses since I know you have used the f2 line of lenses in the past. Also, do you feel the old 1.4 works well with the new 40mp cameras? Thank You.
I pretty much always use old lenses on the 40mp sensor and haven't run into any issues at all. I still think the 2.8 is great, and the size makes it much easier to carry too. The 1.4 is better but also larger and heavier too.
brief fleeting and beautiful moment @6:47 The eternal question remains though 16mm or 18mm... or should I say 24mm or 28mm??? What was the music at the end?
Amazing. 🗣️ “You are watching a master at work” - I love the tone and delivery, keep up the great work. Curious, I’m interested in night photography and curious of which lens I should combine with the XT-5. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated 🙏
Nice video mate, just looking at the lens rn. I have the Veltrox 14mm which is ok not a huge fan of it. What fuji camera are you on? Also does it have stabilisation at all? I just Subscribed :) been on fuji for just over a month, ditching the Sony lol.
🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thank you! I use the XT5 which has stabilisation, the lens itself doesn't so if paired with cameras older than the XT4 there will be no stabilisation
I love the color of your photos and video. I wish I can reproduce the same colors. I’m in love with them UPDATE: Bought your photo book from Amazon. I just love the colors. Also, Japan holds a special place in my heart. Are you by any chance going to release a glossy version of the book eventually?
I feel like I’m the only person who doesn’t like this lens. Bought and sold it twice. It was always the clutch focus ring that drove me nuts. Switched to the 18mm f1.4 and love it. Idk why I’m weird lol
If we shoot with XT 5 then do we get sharp images and good resolution as we get from X T 4 OR do we need to change the lend if we use 40 megapixel camera ?
Fuji should pay you a comission . You sell more fuji lenses than anyone else. At least the reasons to buy them. Would love a grading tutorial on Da vinci for video.

Whether its the lens, the subject or post production skills, or all of the above, the look you have is outstanding
Huge thanks Tony!

Very true! so much better than the manual focusing on most new Fuji lenses too

😅 huge thanks Philip! It is a special lens 🙏🏼
Eren, we haven't forgotten about that colour grading video you promised😄
Another great video man, thanks.
😅 It's in the works! Been a bit crazy with projects and keeping up with episodes on YT lately but rest assured, its coming (should be out in December)
@@erenjam I would love a tutorial on davinci on how to grade video specially. That would be great!!
So agree. The added close-up performance is stupendous. Great video!
Thanks Gary! 🙏🏼
The most aesthetic review video I've ever seen. Thank you for all the valuable experience you shared.
Thank you!
Just picked one up. Cant wait to use it. Nice review
Great to hear 🙏🏼
If I could only have one. It’s this one. Many memories with the 16mm.

Huge thanks! Totally agree, probably the thing I love the most about recent Fuji cameras is how easy it is to switch between filming and photography
Outstanding footage, it is hard to believe the video comes from an XT-5. There is needed so much work and talent to create this beauty..
🙏🏼🙏🏼 huge thanks!
I love the composition in your work
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 huge thanks
Sensational as always, Eren.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
I have this lens. Can’t wait to shoot with it when I’m in Japan.
definitely my fav photographer your style and eye for capturing emotion is on another level
Fantastic review and great work!
I own the 16mm f2.8 version but not using it very often but this video inspires me to use it more when travel!
Thanks bro! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
What a nicely done video, Eren. And you've sold me on the lens. 😊

My all time favorite the 16mm f1.4 is superb 🙏 Fantastic style Eren 👏

footage looks amazing. great production value with the music and HUD effects

Always find at the wind angle every matters, agree on the crop, would be nice to compose photos in camera with different aspect rations
I have the 16-35mm 2.8 and it's my favorite lens. The 16 is a joy to use, but some things, I need to punch in also so.. yeah.
Can't beat versatility!
I had that lens but the auto focus was something which I didn’t particular like, saying that it was one of my favourite lens's until I purchased 18mm f/1.4
Yet to try the 18 1.4, keep hearing good things about it!
Fantastic color grading and cool GxAce vibes!
Gorgeous gorgeous shots 🔥
Fantastic watch. Some incredible images
Can someone please send this man a nice script and suitable actors? Because I want to see this film. Now!

Great video. I've been thinking about picking up something wide. I purchased the Rokinon 12mm a few years ago, it's an awful lens 😅.
Why is it awful. It’s a great lens.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 yet to use the Rokinon, the 2.8 version from Fuji is also a good lens which is cheaper
When you are showing the 16mm footage in this video, what aspect ratio are you using that gives the footage that slightly anamorphic look?
I haven't changed the aspect ratio of the photos on this one
Will you ever make a video describing how you color grade your FLOG footage?
Yes! working on it
@@erenjamsweet! Looking forward to it

What was the music at the end?
Nice to hear it from a creative user (and see the results). Christopher Frost was very underwhelmed by this lens but the results look fine to me.
Great images. Do you have any LUT for video on sale. Apart from that, I would love to see a grading tutorial from you
Amazing video as always. Can someone explain how to achieve that blurry look on these shots: 7:39 5:54

Hi, I really like your style. I wanted to ask - do you use mist filters on your lenses or you do this blooming effect in post?
Was worried we wouldn't have a little lens flipping, this time...
Nice video 🙂
🤹🏻 no lens episode is complete without a flip 😄 Big thanks Phil!
half way through i forgot it was a lens video lol convinced me to get it.

Do you use the XT5 handheld for videos 7:40 ?
Do you wet the glass to achieve those swirly rainy flares?
Is that a Fuji film simulation? How are you getting that colored video, incredible

What Luts do you use to edit your videos? 🤩👍🏽👍🏽
Hi I am trying to buy your preset package, will they work on lightroom mobile as well?
very nice!
If we shoot with XT 5 then do we get sharp images and good resolution as we get from X T 4 OR do we need to change the lend if we use 40 megapixel camera ?
do you get much pinching distortion from the 16mm?
I've not seen much of it, not noticeable like on the 10-24
I love this lens:)
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Abi X-T5 ile X-H2S arasında 20bin tl fark edecek kadar bir fark var mıdır sence X-T5 de çok güzel görünüyor.
