Very informative vid ❤ I learned a lot! My belt came off by itself the other day and then it became so hard to steer the wheel lol good thing I was parking already
Yes the belt connects everything the alternator so ur battery light comes on, the power steering pump ur steering light will come on, it keeps the fluids running through the car so no belt ur temperature gage light will come on shii happened to me last night 😫😫
After getting about 12” of snow, everything melted in 2-3 days. Went to start my Econoline van on very cold morning and the belt came off. Suspect the belt was frozen to a pulley and was spun off. Put the belt back on and has been fine for weeks. Will clear snow from the hood from now on.
I had 2 times put a brand new belt on my car because it got tied up an broke. I have 02 gt grand am. An 1st time i had a tensioner / pulley replaced with new belt. Then 3 weeks later the belt came off. So 2nd time had it put in shop an the bolt holding it was loose an broke so had it replaced the bolt. Now today it did it again. So what could be the problem
How close should the power steering pump pulley be to the power steering pump. I have have 1989 K3500 GMC Sierra with a 6.2. The serpentine belt keeps coming off and I have replaced the power steering pump and ever since, it feel the power steering pully is affecting the other pully’s. I’m using a new power steering unit with the old pully and need to know how close I can get the pully to the pump. I have replaced the tensioner and pully. Thank you
I'm not a mechanic AT ALL! But I just put my belt on five minutes ago and noticed that its easy and possible to put the belt around the tensioner pulley but push it too far back meaning that it will be rubbing against the tensioner causing fraying. Again I'm not a mechanic but I noticed that thuds Jay be why I've had to changed mine twice in a year
Hey, I had a bad belt that snapped on the freeway and we put a new one on and everything seemed fine and it ran fine until next morning when it was cold and first started and it popped off... Put it back on again and everything was fine and drove it about 45 minutes to make sure and the same thing happened when it was started on the next cold morning.
I have a weird question, but I haven’t been able to find on the Internet. So my belt started squeaking and the belt was replaced about two years ago and was told that the belt is in good condition so I put it back on and put some belt conditioner on it and now the belt is extremely sticky. It has been popping off. Do you guys recommend anything to clean it or solve this problem?
My car started overheating while driving through a bad Strom and I ran through a big puddle. Is it possible that the water splashing up could have popped it off?
First the battery light warning came on the dash board, then immediately the steering became tight. This was on and off for few kilometres. On stopping and opening the bonnet I noticed a rubber burning smell but the belt intact. Again after driving it for few kms I heard a loud snapping noise and the steering wheel became rock hard. I opened the bonnet and saw the belt missing. I drove the car to nearest service centre they told me its the crank pulley. How come a belt burn and snap if there is a problem in the driver, it must be in the driven. On enquiring they told me the alternator pulley, power steering pulley and AC pulley are all fine. They say its the crank pulley. If the crank pulley is at fault then why does the belt snap and fail.
@@brandondingle6594 on changing the crank pulley the service centre showed me that everything is fine and sent me. Within two kilometers the same lights came up again. I scolded the service personnel and again took the car back. He told me that alternator brush is at fault and changed it. I fired him for unnecessarily changing the crank pulley previously. He told me that crank pulleys is also worn out. I replied him don't fool customers for achieveing sales targets. Since three months the car is fine.
I drive a 5.7L dodge challenger R/T and everything is fine with my car but I just arrived to school and parked and when school was finished I see my belt hanging down and idk the problem I always check and it wasn’t there before
I have this exact situation going on and never once raced my car. Engines have lots of seals between medals but they deteriorate with age. Like us people. When they do, oil escapes.
My serpentine belt on my Nissan Altima ripped off had it replaced weeks later it slipped off but didn’t rip I got the belt off it was in good condition everything else runs good ok I do get engine light every now and then but doesn’t over heat I do prior usual maintenance as always but I don’t think those are the problem as why it slipped out this is my first time this has happen to me … I do go on dirt roads sometimes muddy when it rains heavily when I wash my car I always spray underneath to get all mud and dirt off as possible you mentioned that any liquid particles etc gets in your serpentine belt can cause it to slip off my wild guess is muddy rocks or something alike might of gotten under or between the belt which cause it to pop or slip off their was signs of muddy scrapes on the belt but nothing serious as I got the belt their was alot of muddy rocks around the pulleys and belt their was one muddy rock that got my Attention that was wrapped in the belt their was a minor scrape by the alternator like if something clawed again nothing serious I took a double look their was signs of something scraping not metal but muddy … I think the muddy rocks caused the belt to slip off … what’s your honest opinion about my situation please let me know if much appreciated thank you god bless
I replaced my pulleys an tensioner along with my belt like a month or two ago. An today my belt was all shredded up cause it came off apparently? Hot oil got on my belt a few weeks ago, i wonder if that made it slip off within a couple weeks?
I've been battling a power steering leak and it's covered my belt and now my alternator isn't working and everything went wrong in my car. No break lights, no headlights, no speedometer.
I am having similar issues with my Fiat 1.9D engine, I replaced the alternator pulley and after few days the belt came off, Now this time I replaced this with a new belt and Tensioner and again the new belt broke within 1 day, I am unable to diagnose. and the mechanic who worked on this has no idea working on Fiat cars. Kindly help if possible

Thank you, you just answered my question!
No more wondering why.
If the belt malfunctions, does it cause the steering wheel to become stiff when you try to turn left or right?
Yea
Yeah, the belt powers the power steering is some
If it’s run on that belt yes but sometimes they have a separate belt or even electric power steering

My range rover svr the belt came off when i was racing my friends g63 and when i got it checked it was caused by engine oil leak 😕💔

Yes...mud, sticks...etc...but I would double check the Idler pulley...The slightest bit of wobble means the bearings are going out
