If I were to make a series of movies regarding the portly plumber, I would go in this direction.
Movie 1: Origin story. How the Mario Brothers got to the Mushroom Kingdom and how and why Bowser kidnapped Princess Peach. It can be as basic as that.
Any Movie after 1: Take one mainline game (any would suffice) after Super Mario Bros. and expand it or flip it on its head. I strongly believe Peach only needs to be kidnapped once in the first movie, but after that, Bowser can cause all sorts of trouble without taking her anywhere: she can be another supporting member of Mario’s team.
Super Mario World can be about the brothers exploring a Dinosaur sanctuary that has been taken over by Bowser to use as an oil extraction facility.
Super Mario 64 takes place in Peach’s Castle that has enchanted paintings slowly seeping their worlds into the building during the celebration of the Mario brothers’ Mushroom Kingdom anniversary.
Super Mario Land 2 could be a court film about Mario trying to reclaim his house from real estate theft.
It’s a series of family movies, it doesn’t have to throw every single Mario lore in the scale of two or three movies. Just shrink it down to the basics and build it up from there.

The idea being that if I post an artwork online, I have to ask for it to be critiqued. What this person doesn't realise is saying 'The eyes are well proportioned' is critique, just positive. A lot of people aren't aware of what they say when the they argue against flaws being pointed out. CinemaSins also is better to me about trying to handle their brand as a primarily comedy or "don't take me too seriously" channel, since their content is primarily just the obviously "quick quippy" sins and then end card. Admittedly I do comment on things in a manner similar to CS during the process of watching a movie, good or bad, so that is at least a mindset I kind of understand trying to put to content.
CinemaWins has the Pseudo Video Essay opening and closing segments to at least their more controversial videos, so it feels significantly more transparent like he is in fact trying to use the video as a platform to speak a legitimate opinion, be it about the film in question (TLJ), a related film (Sequel Trilogy on TROS), or a related topic overall (the MCU here). The sincerity of those segments muddies the water on the CinemaSins-like win counting before hand, yet he still sticks to the similar "tick every little thing indiscriminately" criteria. The CS style is very unedited "Stream of Consciousness" in terms of what it points out, so attaching it to something you presumably script and proof-read at the end feels very out of place, and almost makes the overall video (or videos for 2-parters) feel disingenuous, akin to Dunkey's habit of "it's a joke when I'm criticized and sincere when I'm praised" attitude.

7:42:07 I mean... You're kind of comparing apples to oranges a bit here, Mauler. TLJ is a canon part of the Star Wars timeline and the Holdo Maneuver has massive repercussions on the entirety of the Star Wars timeline. The scene from Star Wars: Visions you described there is from a non-canon anime anthology short, where the shorts in question have no bearing on anything that happens in the canon universe. So yeah, I think it's fine for people to give it more leeway and enjoy what it has to offer.
And I'm not saying this as someone trying to defend that short as being well written, I DO think that objectively, "The Twins" is insanely stupid and probably the worst written of all nine shorts. Like, why can the Twins be out in space without their suits, but the girl's robot servant needs to wear a helmet to survive? Why does the brother slicing through the Star Destroyer with his building-sized lightsaber not also cut his sister in half and just... breaks her armor instead? Why does Karre not need to give any sort of clearance to the guards or even tell them why he's there when he goes to steal the crystal? Where do ALL of those guards in front of the room with the crystal go once Karre actually steals it? Why would Karre and Am be the only ones allowed in, and not any kind of maintenance staff? And that's not even getting into the cringe dialog at times or Allison Brie's lackluster voice acting in the dub. It's a whole lot of really stupid stuff all in all.
But at the end of the day, it's an anime short being done by Studio Trigger, the masters of style over substance, and it won't impact my thoughts on anything in the rest of the Star Wars universe, so I'm fully capable of turning my brain off and enjoying the spectacular visuals. Compared to TLJ, where the Holdo Maneuver is absolutely impossible for me to turn off my brain because of all the ramifications of how it affects the nature of space battles both past and future in the main series. They're completely different mediums in completely different universes with completely different intentions behind their creation (TLJ to further the story of the main saga by a man who doesn't care about the Star Wars canon, and Visions to be a different artist's interpretation of Star Wars mythos without the limitations of adhering to canon). I feel like you're being disingenuous to anime fans and acting like they'll lap anything up "because it's anime" and acting like people don't call out bad anime when they see it. Which they do, frequently.
EDIT: Rewatched the short and realized some of my criticisms of it were wrong, but also found some other new ones to replace it with.

It's almost similar to how Watership Down didn't just try to tackle serious issues like fate and peace with mortality, but created a world for the rabbits and present how they function as a civilization and even have their own religions, lores and philosophies. There have been countless cartoon adaptations that contrive the characters’ existence in some way to hang out in the human world with some generic, expositing robots- I mean, “relatable, charismatic leads”. Alvin & The Chipmunks and The Smurfs were particularly notorious for dabbling in the oh-so-high art of relegating its cartoons to side characters that irritate but eventually come to love our heroes.

"Ethical vampire" The show literally sets up that they're monsters with no self control. The one person who spent a decade of his life learning to fight against addiction knew it was a losing battle, and he took himself out before he hurt the people he loved. The people who woke up immediately started feasting and created a horrifying bloodbath. They were going to spread over the earth, their hunger was never going to be kept in check. It was an apocalypse waiting to happen. The ending was set-up and executed very well. I do not understand how you can get so lost in knit-picking that you just miss the themes of the show. Fun show. With regard to Italians. Plenty of them certainly regard themselves as white, particularly at this present time. Historically, too, one of the first codifications of demarcating humans along racial and ethnic lines happened in what is now known as Italy. Having previously sanctioned the import of infidel slaves, the Priors of Florence, in 1366, stated that by 'infidel' they meant all slaves of infidel origin, even if they were Catholic. Slavery, then, shifted from religiosity to ethnic origin. But I'm intrigued to hear counterarguments. Why are Italians not ‘white’?

The standard of "white" is not the same in those countries, I think. I have seen people being called "brown" in EEUU that would be called white without a second thought in Spain, for example. That ignorant EEUU politician, Ocasio Cortes, that is a white girl to me, for what my references are. I was surprised when that British prince which name I don't remember married a so called "non-white" woman, someone that would be called white at first thought by many in my city. In my opinion, and it might sound crazy, but there's a lot of nuance to what "white" is. Now, in america, there is a history of white=Anglo/Germanic. Hell, the irish, those really pale people, weren't considered "white" because they weren't Anglo. There's tons of propaganda and racist anthropology against Irish you can look up. And Italians, not being Anglo, were subject to that discrimination. Things like "they're swarthy, dark haired, short individuals. They're not white like us!". To add to this was the immigration wave of Italians to America which didn't help them.

Yeah, I kind of watched the show (Midnight Mass) over the past 3-ish days and I quite liked it. I think I liked the early parts most when things were still really shrouded in mystery. Bit of a small (and terrible) essay of a comment, so pardon me.
I REALLY liked the setting in the show and how isolated the place felt. Almost reminded me of some of the smaller towns on the north of Vancouver Island to a small degree, or even the smaller parts of the town where my Granddad's Cottage is located on the island. I like the idea of spooky stuff lurking in the woods or outskirts of a town. I liked all of the spooky sightings at night quite a bit, but I understand those are more shallow/surface level praises to the show lol. I fear plot analysis is not something I am very good at still.
But despite my saying that... yeah... the ending. Hmmm... not sure how I feel about it just yet, because it really felt a bit like everyone had suddenly got hit by an idiot ball. Rest in pepperoni Mr. Sheriff and Erin Greene.
Just going bit by bit with the podcast here, but 42:32 yeah, I was disappointed they didn't explore potential fracturing in the Vampire group more. Surely not everyone on the island was so willing to just be evil or go with Crazy Bitch and her "exclusive club". Surely some people would have objected to what was happening, especially the ones who didn't end up drinking the suicide drinks I imagine (and ESPECIALLY the ones who didn't end up going to the Church that night). Just because they've too became Vampires doesn't mean they're all suddenly bad or have loyalty to Bev. Besides, surely Pruitt could have called more people to his side? He was the one giving all of the sermons and inspiring people, not Bev. Why didn't more people ask "well, what does Father Pruitt have to say on all of this?" or something. I'm no writer, so maybe this all sounds a tad stupid, but I just thought it could have been interesting to see the Vampires split between normal, good people, and the ravenous individuals who were following Bev primarily and/or giving into their hunger more readily?
And YES! Why have Bev, who clearly wants to try her damnedest to stay alive, just give up and then decide not to give up at the last second? Even the original Vampire just seemed a bit stupid in that final episode. Just letting Erin cut his wings like that, and letting himself get splashed with gasoline then subsequently set partially on fire. I mean... I guess we don't entirely know how much he'd comprehend what gasoline was? Or maybe he's so lost to his own thirst for blood he'd just... let stuff happen to him? Or he's just that arrogant??? Those are not really satisfactory explanations to me though... just sort of trying to poorly think out what the reasoning may be lol.
And yes :v the ending line... a bit sad for her, and an odd thing to end on? As someone suffering from some back pains right now (at 27, woohoo, should take better care of myself...) you bet your ass I'd drink a bit of that blood if it meant fixing that or any other flaws my body has :v I'd not be thrilled to suddenly be like "oh damn, my legs fucking hurt again, nice." The whole "things in moderation" discussed at certain points of the show goes nicely with the idea of not letting your reliance on the blood/thirst to overtake you or change who you are/losing your humanity. Not letting addiction get the better of you and all that. God, this was probably a horrendously clunky paragraph, but I can't think of a better way to reword it as I'm sort of "proof reading" this comment before posting. I hope it makes some sense/doesn't make me sound too stupid lol.
Sounds like they may have run out of time/budget based off what you said at one point, so that's a terrible shame if that's the case. I was actually sad when watching the show to only see 7 episodes. Feels like things could have been drawn out a bit more/explored in greater detail before that finale.
I wonder how the head Vampire became the way he was. Would the townsfolk eventually become like him if enough time passed/they gave into their hunger more readily?
I think I still can say I really enjoyed the show despite episode 7. Those first 6 episodes were really enjoyable. I especially enjoyed the characters and all of the conversations they'd have with one another; particularly the ones between Pruitt and Riley at their AA meetings, or Riley and Erin just whenever, or Riley with his Mom or Dad trying to patch things up, and I could go on. Just so many likable characters, and great moments between them all. I always love the characters in these Mike Flanagan shows.
My mind may change upon rewatching in the future, but for the moment, I quite enjoyed it despite the ending. Pardon me if this is a very clunky comment lol. Just had my own little thoughts I thought I'd splurge out into the comments. Anyway... time to keep listening and post this :v

Efap cast, how DARE you say Bowser can't be played by Jack black! Have you never heard Bowser's ONLY English speaking role in Mario sunshine? He's a perfect match

Also Paper Mario characterization of Bowser is 100% something Jack Black could do. It's him but mean basically
