Shang Chi’s action looks dodgy. And I bet there’s going to be a big CGI battle, the second trailer confirmed it. The IP Man movies never had gigantic battles, it was just satisfying fast paced combat with thrillingly brilliant choreography. I doubt the movie will have that level of action.

The Yelena problem is similar to the Finn problem. Both are child soldiers that have years of brainwashing or even practically robotic mental control and are both immediately the most well adjusted, quippy goofballs of their movies upon breaking that control.
Imagine how great it would've been if Finn was hard, unyielding, and made people uncomfortable wherever he went in the resistance because of his past, and nobody quite trusts him, but Poe wanted to be his friend anyway and would joke with him because he knows Finn is a good person with real principles.
If I'm honest, 100% agree this movie was a misguided morally clueless dumpster fire that wasted taskmaster haha But..I don't have the slightest clue why they hated Loki haha, it had a fun premise, solid characterization, I know he was annoyed that Loki got messed with but idk I had fun with it and it definitely felt like the writing was way more consistent
@@KaladinVegapunk Not sure why Loki is being brought up here, but they probably hated Loki, in part, because it had terrible characterization and inconsistent writing. It was extremely frustrating only minutes into the first episode and only got worse. I remember that, after the final episode came out, my teenage nephew said to me that he was really annoyed by it and that, at the end, Loki seemed like a completely different character than he was before and, essentially, not Loki. I corrected him that it wasn't by the end that that happened. It was at the very beginning of the series that he was a totally different character, though it's fair to say that he was yet another character by the end. As is usual with things, now, the acting is mostly pretty great. Tom Hiddleston does a fine job with what he's given. But, he's not given Loki. He's given some weak of body and mind, powerless in every meaningful way, buffoon that betrays everything the character is from the opening scenes to the very end. It's not even character assassination. It's just an altogether different character that's not worthy of the name. He's not consistent with who he was in 2012 or in 2017. The premise was potentially fun, but it was so badly botched, beginning to end. A couple neat ideas, but hardly any of it made sense on even the most surface-level examination. Morally, the only person's morals that really matter are the clown's at the end, and they seem completely meaningless, so toss that in the fire, too.
So, if a microchip in the daughter/man's head allowed the "Taskmaster" mimicry, why weren't ALL Widows implanted with a microchip and have an army of Taskmasters?

Hated how they just brushed past Natasha's infertility. A big part of her character is her longing for a family which was reinforced with the inability of having a kid. That's why her relationship with the Avengers and eventual sacrifice felt so earned. She formed such a strong connection to them that she was willing to die for them and went through with it. People claim she's only eyecandy when she's one of the most consistent characters in these movies. At least she was...
You know, we are never gonna get another Sarah Connors or Ellen Ripley again. Everyone was mad at Whedon for "making" Natasha less of a woman by "having her say" that she had her uterus removed...even though that is in line with her character. It wasn't a commentary on all women, it was just Nat, and how she felt. Then this movie, they make jokes about it. Complete 180 turn. Because we want to dissociate from the first time they brought it up. I'm a guy, the closest thing I have to relate to the conversation is something like circumcision. The entire point is even if Natasha was never gonna have kids ever, she was operated upon amd a part of her was taken away from her WITHOUT her consent. Not that "I can't be a baby maker, that's why I feel like less of a woman."
And yes, even I found it odd in Age of Ultron when they brought it up. It was way to dark. But even there, it is in response to Bruce Banner feeling less of a man. He feels he's a monster who cannot control himself/his own body. He can't be with a woman because he's scared he might go mad and hurt them. (This is from the Edward Norton movie which is MCU canon. He almost crushes the girl and he can't have sex because his heartrate would escalate and trigger the Hulk.) So it makes sense that when he's sharing his piece, Nat shares that she feels something similar.
Fun Fact: Ripping out the sex organs of a woman at a young age would cause early menopause due to lack of estrogen iirc. So now there's the weird thing of explaining why no sex organs is better than any alternative
Yeah, I always thought it was odd how people got offended by her feelings. Like people went nuts about how the movie was saying they needed to have kids to be a 'real woman'. It's like, um, no. *She* wants a family, and now*she* can't. It's a big deal to *her*.
Part of the thrill of characters like Widow is seeing normal humans doing things superheroes would do. Like take the scene from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm where Bruce is running from the police. You see him get hurt, run out of breath and stop, close calls and such. In this movies Natasha slams through a building and falls huge heights while smacking things on the way down. Then barely does a grimace.
And if there's backlash, just retroactively make them trans via an after-the-fact Twitter post! Then the people who complained are both sexist AND transphobic (by their metrics)!

I love how the movie portrays Alexi as an indoctrinated honest fool and movie still craps all over him. He's just as much a victim of brainwashing as the Black Widows. Just because he's so dumb that brainwashing him takes very little effort, that doesn't make his life being used and discarded any less tragic.

Yep. There's a line between serious movie and comic book camp. "Winter Soldier" is a cool character name. Black Widow and Scarlett Witch are cool character names. I hate how they adress everyone as "Widows". At that point, f*ck this movie's agenda and message and themes, it just makes me laugh everytime someone says it. It takes you right out of the movie. Taskmaster stunt double was a dude. Olga just looked comically small in the suit, sort of like Buzz Lightyear. Her head and neck were tiny compared to the suit.

The ONLY people who can stand a chance against him are deadpool cuz he's so unpredictable and moon knight cuz the dude is insane and tanks all attacks. He had a weird mental disorder that allows him to mimic anything he sees and when he joined shield, he took an experimental super soldier juice that amplified it dozens of times over. The downside is that he loses memories in exchange of copying fighting styles. There's a fantastic Deadpool vs Taskmaster fight where Deadpool overcomes him by being so spazzily random that he can't get a read on Deadpool's style.
Pretty sure he also refuses to fight moonknight because he doesn't care about getting hit when he attacks. So taskmaster isn't to keen on fighter who don't care about taking damage like Deadpool, wolverine, moonknight bad matchups.

I'm not very familiar with Taskmaster, how was Comic Taskmaster able to fight superheroes, wasn't he a mostly normal guy? From what little I know about him, he seems to be a super smartm'n and "combat chameleon", but do you happen to know how smart/an example of some super smart ploy or plan he pulled off? Also, how did he and Deadpool get to rooming together? I'd totally watch/read stories of him and Deadpool having adventures together, that sounds fun.
Yeah he was a normal guy but he could copy combat styles perfectly, (except Deadpool because when he tried that it made him crazy for a bit) his strengths lie in using combat styles that can counter his opponents.

But somehow, no, they don't have back-ups for their mind control programme R&D. Alexi steals it and hands it to Draykov. This is TRoS C3PO death scene and Babu Frick contrivance. Love too see that modern Disney writing across the IPs.

@@Wobmiar generally it's to do with objects casting shadows the radar receiver can't 'see' through. If the aircraft manages to fly low enough and the radar isn't right below them they can effectively hide in those shadows. It works best when the geography of the area features a lot if hills, mountains or valleys. Its for this reason Radar towers on ships are so tall, so that the ship can see over the top of its self. Modern Militaries also invest into Airborne Radar planes, the ones that look like a passenger jet with a large disc on the top. By flying higher their radar is able to see things a ground based radar can't.

@Artie Rupinen So if Sylvie had free choice for a second (this is at the point where Kang didn't know what was gonna happen, he hadn't seen beyond a minute ago), then it stands to reason that of the infinite choices she could've made, at least one or two would've been sparing Kang. Which means that there's now an infinite amount of universes where the TVA are still kicking. Which means that Sylvie didn't do anything really. The TVA are still out there, business as usual, pruning every last timeline they come across.

The plots of the manipulator characters of the MCU are going to be like the plots of Dune's Bene Gesserit, "A feint within a feint within a feint" except for the whole aspect of Dune being a fully thought out and satisfying story.
Just once I'd like a manipulator character / group who doesn't want to rule the world, he or she just wants things to go smoothly because too much chaos gives them a complex or something. They don't delete people, they just buy people off, have honeytraps etc and just convince people to do stuff and people go - "Yeah, good idea to me, too!" And there's just nothing nefarious- But it annoys SHIELD and SWORD and Avengers because they don't bend the knee. And Hydra and company lose their minds because they aren't into world conquest.
Seems like they just wanted to copy Winter Soldier almost one to one for this. Doing worse in every way all throughout. Taskmaster and Stink-man being awful antagonists, a tattered plot that doesn't make sense, and forgetting that Natasha isn't super-powered. As well as blatantly fabricating details of Nat's life, whereas there was much more to build off of for Steve. They could've made the pains of her past life more personal, like they mention in AoU, but I have to wonder if the idiots that screeched, "She thinks she's a monster because she cant' have kids?!! Sexism!!!" had something to do with it too. Sprinkled in with Modern Marvel's "Girl power" to make it more insufferable. Taskmaster alone is hilariously obtuse, only put into the film for the sake of a big reveal. Y'know, because having a dude play the character until you CG a woman's head on his body makes sense. Other than that, I see no reason as to why they'd bring up the character. Which makes it all the more disappointing, for both fans of the comic character, or his appearances in MvC, Insomniac Spider-man and even the Avengers game, for the handful of people who played it. (Though, I think his appearance there might've been to advertise this movie.)

If Dreykov didn't have a sky fortress he would have been gooified by the TVA. If anyone tried to stop Dreykovs sky fortress they also would have been gooified by the TVA. The way I qualified how bad Loki is was by saying "Goku and Saitama can appear defeat Galactus and destroy the Earth at the end of phase 4 and I cant even be upset at the nonsense cause Sacred Timeline." Granted they ended up destroying it but this is still something that I was talking about. I cant even be upset at the absurdity because it was *forced* and predetermined to occur.

As to why they selected Taskmaster. It's actually because SJWs have this strange fascination with him. Perhaps because he was often used in free comic giveaways and in like cereal boxes and so is the one villain they remember from childhood... He's also a mercenary who works for all kinds of organisations, and so is easy to lazyly shoehorn into a story. As a result, he has been used constantly the last 10 years and misused as a punching bag for all kinds of strong empowered womanx. One question I would love to ask these people that think all art is subjective is this. If all art is subjective, then does that mean that my drawing of a stick figure on a white paper is just as an amazing of a drawing as something like the Mona Lisa or any other famous drawing? Because I say that it is? And whenever anyone tries to criticize my drawing or what I said, I just say all art is subjective? Or how about something simpler? First scene, person's head gets ripped off, then next scene the person is just fine with no explanation. That is a failure of either the editor, or the writer, so it makes it an objective flaw. And it somewhat ruins the rest of the movie at that point. If people can suddenly come back from death so easily and with no explanation, then why should we, the audience, worry about the other characters that we like? And if an actual death does happen in the movie, the audience will be confused on why This person didn't come back if it's established that people can come back from death without explanation.
I’ve had this argument with someone. His argument was that artists agree with his stance, despite the fact they artists spend years honing their craft, and are the first to criticize themselves. Taskmaster doesn't make sense with the shield especially considering normal shields don't work that way ... its specifically a trait of vibranium its got air resistance or some shit, look it up. You assume having super strength helps but ... I would assume the shield wouldn't work well for Falcon but logic became really floompy in Marvel
I never saw Falcon&Winter Soldier, but when they showed normal human Sam throwing caps shield halfway through a tree in the trailers, I got really pissed off 😂 Then I saw a small clip with the fake Cap performing with the shield as proficiently as Steve. It made no sense because the whole thing was that Steve had enhanced Superhuman abilities, so no one should be able to throw, catch, and utilize the shield as proficiently as Steve, aside from other Superhumans like Bucky (which is why it threw me off when Steve didn't give it to his lifelong friend and fellow super soldier). Now apparently you don't need a combination of super strong, yet super light and agile rare space metal + superhuman strength to bust through trees and steel.

The Yelena problem is similar to the Finn problem. Both are child soldiers that have years of brainwashing or even practically robotic mental control and are both immediately the most well adjusted, quippy goofballs of their movies upon breaking that control.
Yes I thought the same in the back of my mind, she seemed too casual and well-adjusted.
Imagine how great it would've been if Finn was hard, unyielding, and made people uncomfortable wherever he went in the resistance because of his past, and nobody quite trusts him, but Poe wanted to be his friend anyway and would joke with him because he knows Finn is a good person with real principles.

@@KaladinVegapunk Not sure why Loki is being brought up here, but they probably hated Loki, in part, because it had terrible characterization and inconsistent writing. It was extremely frustrating only minutes into the first episode and only got worse.
I remember that, after the final episode came out, my teenage nephew said to me that he was really annoyed by it and that, at the end, Loki seemed like a completely different character than he was before and, essentially, not Loki. I corrected him that it wasn't by the end that that happened. It was at the very beginning of the series that he was a totally different character, though it's fair to say that he was yet another character by the end.
As is usual with things, now, the acting is mostly pretty great. Tom Hiddleston does a fine job with what he's given. But, he's not given Loki. He's given some weak of body and mind, powerless in every meaningful way, buffoon that betrays everything the character is from the opening scenes to the very end. It's not even character assassination. It's just an altogether different character that's not worthy of the name. He's not consistent with who he was in 2012 or in 2017.
The premise was potentially fun, but it was so badly botched, beginning to end. A couple neat ideas, but hardly any of it made sense on even the most surface-level examination.
Morally, the only person's morals that really matter are the clown's at the end, and they seem completely meaningless, so toss that in the fire, too.

Hated how they just brushed past Natasha's infertility. A big part of her character is her longing for a family which was reinforced with the inability of having a kid. That's why her relationship with the Avengers and eventual sacrifice felt so earned. She formed such a strong connection to them that she was willing to die for them and went through with it. People claim she's only eyecandy when she's one of the most consistent characters in these movies. At least she was...
You know, we are never gonna get another Sarah Connors or Ellen Ripley again.
Everyone was mad at Whedon for "making" Natasha less of a woman by "having her say" that she had her uterus removed...even though that is in line with her character. It wasn't a commentary on all women, it was just Nat, and how she felt.
Then this movie, they make jokes about it. Complete 180 turn. Because we want to dissociate from the first time they brought it up.
I'm a guy, the closest thing I have to relate to the conversation is something like circumcision. The entire point is even if Natasha was never gonna have kids ever, she was operated upon amd a part of her was taken away from her WITHOUT her consent. Not that "I can't be a baby maker, that's why I feel like less of a woman."
And yes, even I found it odd in Age of Ultron when they brought it up. It was way to dark. But even there, it is in response to Bruce Banner feeling less of a man. He feels he's a monster who cannot control himself/his own body. He can't be with a woman because he's scared he might go mad and hurt them. (This is from the Edward Norton movie which is MCU canon. He almost crushes the girl and he can't have sex because his heartrate would escalate and trigger the Hulk.)
So it makes sense that when he's sharing his piece, Nat shares that she feels something similar.

Part of the thrill of characters like Widow is seeing normal humans doing things superheroes would do. Like take the scene from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm where Bruce is running from the police. You see him get hurt, run out of breath and stop, close calls and such. In this movies Natasha slams through a building and falls huge heights while smacking things on the way down. Then barely does a grimace.
The worst injuries Black Widow gets is a bloody and broken nose. But not any scratches or bruises to at least give the illusion that she can get hurt.

Yeah he was a normal guy but he could copy combat styles perfectly, (except Deadpool because when he tried that it made him crazy for a bit) his strengths lie in using combat styles that can counter his opponents.

@@MediumRareOpinions I'm curious, as I don't understand how old fashioned radars work to not be able to detect stuff too low (I assume modern radars would use some help from satellites and thus seeing everything). Mind explaining to me?
@@Wobmiar generally it's to do with objects casting shadows the radar receiver can't 'see' through.
If the aircraft manages to fly low enough and the radar isn't right below them they can effectively hide in those shadows.
It works best when the geography of the area features a lot if hills, mountains or valleys.
Its for this reason Radar towers on ships are so tall, so that the ship can see over the top of its self.
Modern Militaries also invest into Airborne Radar planes, the ones that look like a passenger jet with a large disc on the top. By flying higher their radar is able to see things a ground based radar can't.

@Artie Rupinen So if Sylvie had free choice for a second (this is at the point where Kang didn't know what was gonna happen, he hadn't seen beyond a minute ago), then it stands to reason that of the infinite choices she could've made, at least one or two would've been sparing Kang. Which means that there's now an infinite amount of universes where the TVA are still kicking. Which means that Sylvie didn't do anything really. The TVA are still out there, business as usual, pruning every last timeline they come across.

The plots of the manipulator characters of the MCU are going to be like the plots of Dune's Bene Gesserit, "A feint within a feint within a feint" except for the whole aspect of Dune being a fully thought out and satisfying story.
Just once I'd like a manipulator character / group who doesn't want to rule the world, he or she just wants things to go smoothly because too much chaos gives them a complex or something.
They don't delete people, they just buy people off, have honeytraps etc and just convince people to do stuff and people go - "Yeah, good idea to me, too!"
And there's just nothing nefarious-
But it annoys SHIELD and SWORD and Avengers because they don't bend the knee.
And Hydra and company lose their minds because they aren't into world conquest.

Seems like they just wanted to copy Winter Soldier almost one to one for this. Doing worse in every way all throughout. Taskmaster and Stink-man being awful antagonists, a tattered plot that doesn't make sense, and forgetting that Natasha isn't super-powered. As well as blatantly fabricating details of Nat's life, whereas there was much more to build off of for Steve. They could've made the pains of her past life more personal, like they mention in AoU, but I have to wonder if the idiots that screeched, "She thinks she's a monster because she cant' have kids?!! Sexism!!!" had something to do with it too.
Sprinkled in with Modern Marvel's "Girl power" to make it more insufferable. Taskmaster alone is hilariously obtuse, only put into the film for the sake of a big reveal. Y'know, because having a dude play the character until you CG a woman's head on his body makes sense. Other than that, I see no reason as to why they'd bring up the character. Which makes it all the more disappointing, for both fans of the comic character, or his appearances in MvC, Insomniac Spider-man and even the Avengers game, for the handful of people who played it. (Though, I think his appearance there might've been to advertise this movie.)
It's so bad I didn't even realize how hard they were trying to copy Winter Soldier on my first watch. They mangled the plot in an attempt to ape an better movie, and they couldn't even do that right. Winter Soldier was key to the his movie, Taskmaster was fucking pointless.
On the part of their agenda, we know Hawkeye won't be the lead in his own TV series. Kate Bishop will. Just like what they did with Loki.
Add the multiverse to that, and they "man bad" flag, and I cannot wait for Captain Marvel to poof Nat back to life and laugh at Hawkeye. Like EFAP said, "You didn't try hard enough, you incompetent man. Let me show you how a girl gets it done. Sisterhood for life!"😂😂

Hey I'm one of the ten people who played the Avengers game (or at least one of them). I even obtained and used Taskmaster extensively (he was pretty neat since he as one of very few characters had no counter (and I used another one of those Lmao))
Madvocate may have a more monotone vocal delivery, but I rather enjoy listening to his voice.

One question I would love to ask these people that think all art is subjective is this. If all art is subjective, then does that mean that my drawing of a stick figure on a white paper is just as an amazing of a drawing as something like the Mona Lisa or any other famous drawing? Because I say that it is? And whenever anyone tries to criticize my drawing or what I said, I just say all art is subjective? Or how about something simpler? First scene, person's head gets ripped off, then next scene the person is just fine with no explanation. That is a failure of either the editor, or the writer, so it makes it an objective flaw. And it somewhat ruins the rest of the movie at that point. If people can suddenly come back from death so easily and with no explanation, then why should we, the audience, worry about the other characters that we like? And if an actual death does happen in the movie, the audience will be confused on why This person didn't come back if it's established that people can come back from death without explanation.
I’ve had this argument with someone. His argument was that artists agree with his stance, despite the fact they artists spend years honing their craft, and are the first to criticize themselves. Basically people who think all art is subjective are unintelligent, or haven’t actually thought it through.

A) that's being extremely generous to the film.
B) that's assuming the writers and director bothered to read the comics.
C) that's assuming the writers would think that the audience have read the comics. Which is unlikely because the latter MCU sludge is tailor made for normies.

Taskmaster doesn't make sense with the shield especially considering normal shields don't work that way ... its specifically a trait of vibranium its got air resistance or some shit, look it up.
You assume having super strength helps but ... I would assume the shield wouldn't work well for Falcon but logic became really floompy in Marvel
I never saw Falcon&Winter Soldier, but when they showed normal human Sam throwing caps shield halfway through a tree in the trailers, I got really pissed off 😂
Then I saw a small clip with the fake Cap performing with the shield as proficiently as Steve. It made no sense because the whole thing was that Steve had enhanced Superhuman abilities, so no one should be able to throw, catch, and utilize the shield as proficiently as Steve, aside from other Superhumans like Bucky (which is why it threw me off when Steve didn't give it to his lifelong friend and fellow super soldier).
Now apparently you don't need a combination of super strong, yet super light and agile rare space metal + superhuman strength to bust through trees and steel.

In the comics tho he became Cap for a short period of time before Bucky, but the that's totally different since there he's a mutant with superhuman feats.
