I imagine he would constantly whine about his obesity and how he is sure to die in the next game, yet he would always vote for O. The other players would dislike him they would be hesitant to team up with him. He would somehow survive the first two games, only to die in the third one for not being able to fit through the door.
4:07:00 Here’s the thing. The difference between Squid Game and Spider-Verse is that Squid Game is already a finished product. It’s all confirmed that the season 2 part 2 will come out in 2025. Meanwhile, Beyond Spider-Verse is not a finished product. In fact, it can delay indefinitely because the male lead is crashing out in real life. Bro is creepy towards Hailee Steinfeld and Laura Harrier that it’s possible that he could be recasted with Ekko’s VA to make Steinfeld more comfortable (Thank god Lee Jung Jae didn’t become a creep towards his costar like Shameik Moore did).
Don't think his terrible rizz has anything to with it😂 It's because animation at that high level takes a while, and they don't even pay the animators well.
Well the story for the 2nd one was ass. The audience can sense the massive drop in quality even though the shills are saying the same thing in terms of praise between the two. Add to that any disruption in production for any reason whatsoever and you have a recipe for disaster. You do not have enough of a guarantee of a hit that you can fool around playing footsie with your coworker whose creeped by you. This isn't the titanic where they could have dodged the iceberg if they were paying attention, this is the hindenburg where they were always going to blow up anyway.
CAN SOMEONE TIMESTAMP WHEN THE VIDEO ENDS, FOR ME?!!! ps, there’s an “AI” tool that does transcripts and chapter breaks automatically (ie summaries with timestamps)- while not perfect, like auto-generated subtitles, it is a wonderful tool that takes no effort
Fun fact: The actor that plays Thanos is from a boyband named BigBang. They are huge in Asia. His Idol name is T.O.P and he got canceled in South Korea because he got caught smoking the green grass. Which is very very illegal in South Korea (you can get up to 7 years in prison for it). But Squid Game S2 should've been a comeback for him as an actor and idol after many years of being out of the spotlight. But the SK citizens aren't happy about that. They complained a lot on social media. So much so that he isn't in any of the promo material (other then the trailer itself), or interviews. SK citizens said that the director should have fired him because of what he did. Meanwhile they are totally fine with the actor that plays the Boat Captain, while that actor is accused of SA and r*pe....... I love South Korea but sometimes they are just a lil bit silly.
Or not telling them before the game began, that hey, this will be lethal and in the end only one person can win. Even if they don't believe you, the MC could of at least tried. By the time they are playing it is too late.
I don’t know why Front Man decides he needs to put himself in the games to see if it’s more fun than watching, when the Front Man is literally a previous winner of the games and should already know how it feels.
The story about his wife plays a huge factor to the actor nails at selling his emotions just with the looks on his face he doesn’t even need to speak and you can tell his brains working multiple angles
1:51:12 As much as I loved this scene, this part was weird. He's not lucky if he chances it and pulls the trigger, but merely lucky if he uses his agency to make the best move?
Would have been better if they did tell him they'll kill him if he gives any info before the games start, and then you see him and the friend having a quick little secret convo on the way up the stairs
The "get in a conga line" strat for Red Light, Green Light was absolute trash, and Main Character Guy should have known how many extra deaths it would cause.
The whole point of the Conga line is the doll could only sense movement of the front person. A lot more people probably would have died without the conga line strategy.
@Ryan-sf8nf Having people in close proximity to you in this game is a terrible strategy. If they can fall into you, then you must rely on them to play the game perfectly and not just yourself.
@ people in front take the risk of getting shot, people in the back take the risk of not making it in time. We see everyone made it before seong goes to carry the injured guy. I’d say it was pretty successful
3:14:48 its been awhile since ive seen the first season, and i hant seen this one, but if the people who get to the island then want to leave do they actually go back home, or do they just take them away from the group then shoot them? I just dont see them letting anyone go home and expose even that much of what they saw.
1:45:18 "netflix used to have a good reputation for putting out [quality]" WHEN?! When did netflix have this reputation? Racking my brain for when this was ever the case, outside of properties they took from other studios, you know, something that /wasn't/ a result of netflix
Been thinking about this since the first season but Squid Game sure eerily feels like a more mature, less fantastical, live action Deadman Wonderland Someone finally making it out with a will to end it and still failing to shut down the slaughterhouse circus following Season 1 aligns it even more too.
One thing I noticed is, I don’t believe Gi-Hun ever saw the Front Man in any shape or form in season 1, only heard his voice. So how does he have the nightmare where he sees the Front Man?
Also the nightmare scene is goofy af. The example of nightmare/hallucination done right in my opinion, is Daredevil season 3 when Matt hallucinated talking to (and killing) Fisk.
This is pure speculation, but the reason I’m leaning into for why Batman II is being pushed is that I think Reeves is in the middle of a divorce. In his recent interview with Zoe Kravitz, he did not have his marriage ring on his finger (which he has had in every picture I have seen of him). If that is the case, then I hope the man takes as much time as he needs. Also, just wanted to comment on this, but Spiderverse 2 had around five years before it got released and it made tons of money. So no, I think Batman is alive and well.
Also we have to consider that Miles Morales is crashing out in real life too. Bro turned into a creepy incel towards Hailee Steinfeld and Laura Harrier that many people want him to be replaced by Ekko’s VA to make Steinfeld more comfortable (because she also voiced Vi in Arcane). If he was actually recasted, then god knows how long will we ever get Spider-Verse 3.
@ They could probably do it rather easy given that it seems like no voice work has even been recorded yet.. so if they wanted to do it, they got the time
They'd let Thanos keep his necklace on purpose. I mean is the potential for entertainment higher or lower when you let one of the contestants have drugs?
When you think about the amount of effort they are putting in to what is essentially “we want to kill people Jigsaw style”, it feels very unrealistic. Tell me where in the world “playing games with death as a consequence” is realistic. And I’m not talking about “I could die from getting punched too many times in boxing”. I’m talking “if I don’t play red light green light correctly I could be shot.”
@@nhagan001it's pretty naive to assume people getting killed for entertainment never happens. It's a big world and a lot of fucked up people end up with money in their lap The only unrealistic thing about this is the scale of contestants from such a small recruitment area, but the games themselves could totally happen
@@nhagan001 It was more of a generalization about how rich elites will absolutely go to insane lengths to do heinous things for the sake of entertaining themselves (Jeff Epstein, anyone?) As for people being willing to participate in a game where death is a real possibility being unrealistic, I point you to a documentary called “The Contestant.” It’s about a man who participated in a highly controversial japanese game show in the 90s. The game runners didn’t threaten him, but they were certainly willing to allow him to die for entertainment.
@ so? The level of conspiracy required for Squid game would be on the level of 9/11. Unrealistic as hell is definitely what it is. All the people that would have to be in on the conspiracy, the money involved, the facilities and staff levels needed. The number of people that would have to turn a blind eye to it all. The One Ring in LotR is fantasy, it still has rules to follow.
I saw it as thematic examination of the pills, where if he goes back into the games, you will see the reality of how people are. See that the people wanted to play these games and never needed to in the same way the homeless people didn't need to choose the scratch ticket over the bread.
Squid game reminds me of Gyakkyō Burai Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor, where at first you think its a good guy in a bad situation, but really its just a gambling addict
If I had the money I would spend half of finding the island even if I need to check all of them and another half on Expandable’s team. It would have been epic.
Just a few mins in but wanted to shout my thoughts into the void before I re-evaluate after the stream. I thought it seemed halfway done. Since the next season is coming next year I was thinking perhaps they had a really good 15 or so episode arc and cut it in half. Maybe that’s just the case, I don’t follow any of the meta commentary or news about the show until watching this breakdown. The best part of the series imo was getting him back in the games, it’s always hard to find a way in a show like this to put the main character back in the situation again. Like how do you make Riply keep having xenomorph encounters for 4 movies or something. The contestants seem a lot younger in this season, maybe a direct gen z appeal. Liked it overall but ending is a bit abrupt for me.
Oh and maybe I missed something but the detective’s brother seemed to have no reason to join the games and no arc. He was there for a while, for no reason, then betrayed them. Again I think it is because this is more like season 2 part 1
This is one of those series where if you repeat again its simple concept in a sequel... it gets old, but they did it and that is creative bankrupcy yes, Netflix already did the same thing with Money Heist/Casa de Papel. Prison Break is similar, and with S2 they didn't repeat the whole prison thing, the series evolved from that, sure they did it with S3 but it was different enough, short season, and it wasnt right after S1. They sould have done something like that here honestly.
Maybe they now feel like that's punching down? Maybe their data shows this stuff gets more views? Maybe it's easier to generate hours of content from hours of content? IDK, choose your own adventure.
They still do cover videos, but they've also always preferred actually talking about media. They've always done this type of content and it's clearly more engaging and enjoyable for them
To say they’re only ”summarizing” them is selling it a bit short, isn’t it? And I think the simplest explanation is that there’s just been a lot of movies and shows to talk about recently.
Ok so, normally In breakdowns Inwatch the intro, hear what they think about the show or movie, leave and watch it (or not if its garbage) amd came back later to hear the rest. I dont want any spoiler of anything if im interesed. But in this ome they just say what they think about the first season and jump in to the breakdown. Can anyone tell me what they think about season 2 so I know if I watch it first or just watch the breakdown?
The season is still pretty new, and has a strange release format, so the crew isn't even that certain of their opinions. They also insisted on only talking about the first three episodes. Still the vibe seems to be that there is still a super boring subplot, the main plot still has a lot of problems but has great character writing and acting, overall it's decent and probably worth a watch but lesser than the first season.
Some random thoughts in episode 1: When Recruiter man kidnaps the two thugs, he shows how Russian Roulette works by pointing his gun at his own head and pulling the trigger when it is loaded (with GiHun he points it at the ceiling). Why take the risk of offing yourself like that, just seems stupid for no reason. And on the topic of stupid, GiHun, man who pulls out gun constantly up until that point, enters his building, sees recruiter with back facing him, doesn't pull out gun and immediately shoots his gun-holding hand and/or knees. Also when playing roulette with recruiter, when he gets the gun with one bullet, doesn't immediately go click click click boom at the recruiter's knees, shoulder, etc. to incapacitate him, instead he plays the game that he might lose? Summary: WHY ARE PEOPLE STUPID just so that the plot can move forward.
@@unrealkinoart He has never been chased down before like that, and he obviously gets off on the idea of using rng to be near death, he outright states this with gi-hun with how he finds happiness in watching people beg and nearly die. Gi-hun plays the game because he wants to prove a point, it's less about being alive and more about showing that the squid gamers are wrong
The recruiter clearly was unhinged. Dude was out of his mind so it kind of makes sense but I also agree that it was a risk for him to risk his life in front of the thugs but damn was it a cool scene.
Rest of the season is not bad but the trans character is super annoying. "she" got no other character than being trans and its all "her" scenes are about.
“She” is stunning & brave though. Excited about Part 2 where Netfli… uhhh i mean the show runners give us a detailed explanation on how bottom surgery is done.
I donno bud, I think 120 is fine but the trans part is definitely the least interesting part about the character. It only gives 120 a pass to slap the witch without being cancelled, and also the reason why the wimp girl ended up dead. Also I think the last episode is very stupid that somehow everyone is just gonna follow along with 456 rebellion plan after portraying many of them as greedy a-holes, especially with how bad the plan is
Having watched the whole thing, Id like to say its one of the most respectful and benign portrayal of such a character in all of media. The character having a soldier's past does come in handy and come up, too. Having been really tired of such characters on the West, this one's nowhere near that bad. Imo, anyhow.
If you read someone of the comments online loads of people hated the first two episodes, largely because it was ‘slow’ in their opinion. So for all Efap’s fears that they might have just dialled up to 11 with the games and do nothing else I’m afraid there is an audience out there who only wanted that. No interest in building characters
I hated the whole thing because it strained my sense of incredulity. The contestants know that only one person will survive. I refuse to believe that the votes would be so close. Also the MC not telling people the truth BEFORE the first game is unbelievable when his entire motivation is to STOP THE GAME at the cost of his own life if must be.
@@johnratfink7343Gambling addicts are something else. They take "never tell me the odds" as a life motto in the worst way. That "one more game, one more hand, one more try, one more..." mentality overrides everything. But, yeah, MC should have/would have been more upfront about the danger everyone was in.
@llcoolray3000 I understand that a portion of them would be insane compulsive gamblers and or/ desperate people that will die and krill for money. But them knowing that they have a chance in 400 plus of dying, especially when the MC would of told them that the final game was simply a brute strength contest where only one would be able to survive, now we have to believe also that those that want to play are also extremely brave and or confident in their abilities to physically fight someone and win. That is the difference between them and the first group. That would of changed a lot of minds. I think that's why we don't really get much from the MC explaining how things work. That's too much to swallow for me and it seems like reality is just being massaged to allow the game to continue.
@@llcoolray3000 just because someone is a compulsive gambler doesn't mean that they would be willing to lose their life. In fact, a lot of these people would be extremely narcissistic and cowardly, gambling away life savings and others money in their selfishness. Those are the kinds of people that we are expected to believe would be like "yes, I will risk my life for x". Meanwhile, what, worst case you go into bankruptcy or have your life ruined? Maybe in the worst cases a loan shark takes your organs? Nah
I think that if he told them that before the first game, nobody would have believed him. They didn't believe him before red light green light when he was first telling everyone that if they move, they will be shot. There were lots of people who still didn't believe him even after that game. And when there are that many people playing, it's easy to convince yourself the odds are in your favor - that's essentially what the O team kept saying as their justification.
you guys need to get off that hill of HotD season two being good, it’s only gonna make season three more of a let down if you believe it has any chance of being good
I think that Thanos was allowed to keep his necklace because it’s jewelry and other characters are shown to be able to keep earrings and stuff like that. On another hand it’s a religious symbol and although not as sacred to Thanos id imagine they’d allow a player to keep a yamaka or a hijab.
The real villains of the squid game is all the detective sences 😈 The ture commentary is how bad and useless the police 👹 The police would rather give fine tickets instead of service and protect the citizens
i thought it was extremely good! i was only planning on watching 1 episode and ended up binge watching the whole season. definitely worth the watch and you’ll probably get hooked after the 2nd episode. i agree with a lot of their opinions on series/movies, but definitely not all
I definitely think it's not bad but the issue is the ending where it felt like mid-season finale rather than whole srason finale. What left the bad taste in my mouth wasn't the shoe but more the fact that clearly Netflix is trying to milk it.
Whats the point of coming on when you havent even seen the full season? Just felt annoyed every time Platoon said something that was probably answered later in the season, so annoying.
Its a review of the first 3 episodes and they're trying not to spoil the rest since not many people would've seen everything yet. It makes perfect sense. If you're so annoyed at someone speaking because they don't know something you do, maybe you need to go outside or something.
@@ManHamOrigins 100% agree, I get they aren't talking abt the whole season but its so frustrating when you have someone there who basically offers nothing because he doesnt even know what happens later in the season, its not fucking hard to watch a show lol
Mandatory military service and constant drilling because S.Korea is technically still at war. Combine with a close relationship with the US and being one of the top technologically advanced countries, I can believe following mandatory service that some people would just keep soldiering on. Plenty of conflicts in Asia to take part in!
@@josephjackson9679 As well, many people go career military here as the pay is pretty good and barring war, the benefits are good as well. Also, even though military training is mandatory, soldiers still have to meet up every few years up to a certain age to do some basic training and ensure they are all keeping well.
I can confirm with my own eyes that ROK soldiers were being deployed to Afghanistan around 2011. I dunno what exactly they were doing there, but its not beyond the realm of possibility that their SOF guys were doing operations around the Kandahar AO.
@@josephjackson9679 That’s also the reason why the former president failed to launch the coup as well because the mandatory service made all men know how to deal with the army. South Korea is an awesome country. Don’t let some RUclipsrs or the communist propaganda media convince you otherwise.
-Mandatory military service -They're still at war with NK, so military preparedness needs to be constant and training is constant and rigorous -If you have all the training and no war to go to, you're going to look for a job where you can use those skills, and mercenary work can be extremely lucrative
When that happened and they were complaining about the victims being dead and getting no 'merchandise' I said aloud "Brah, we're trying to monetize this waste stream and you're fucking it up! We have to have vertical integration to afford all this!"
The first episode had me very hopeful for the rest of the season, but the rest under delivered. I fast forwarded most of the detective and number 11 scenes after episode 2. They should have given up on him after season 1, they can't make his arc at all interesting and also have the games run smoothly till the end. I think they did a good job to make the new characters interesting (I didnt not mind the trans character that much) and for the most part they had unique personality and dynamics. The shaman is shite though. I liked Thanos, but I agree with the guys it would have been better if he was sabotaging others because he wanted to gain an advantage instead of him being a junkie. The new games are entertaining and very funny at times. I look forward to efap reviewing the coup scenes cause i feel like the plan, the execution and a lot of the scene were very clunky. Overall, I am still interested in seeing season 3 and am happy they didn't completely ruin it like Arcane did with their season 2
I said this in the unlisted video but I figure I would give an actual time code and be more clear with my argument. At 3:33:21 in the video, EFAP complains about how it would be impossible for the pink guys to get orders to shoot the crowd of running people. I find this odd because even though the sensor is the one to see if there are rule breakers AND then people get called out. I STILL find it hard to beleive that the pink guys would not be able to tell they are breaking the rules. Remember that music plays right before the girl turns around. The pink guys have just one job and would be able to pay attention. ALSO ALSO!!! I would like to point out there's a graphic in the booth that the pink guys can use as a guide. (3:44:35, hard to tell from this coverage but if you look in other scene on Netflix, you can see that screen tracks the players) There is literally no reason EFAP should complain about this part. It's one of the dumbest arguments they have ever made (Along with ATLA and Rags argument on Minecraft economies)
At this point, bringing up ATLA just pushes people to think that MauLer was *right* and ATLA fans like you are just STILL Big Mad about it... The second I hear "EFAP had a bad take on ATLA" I immediately write them off as another copium-huffing circus freak. E;R *AGREED* with MauLer's conclusion that ATLA was a 4/10. You have no bastion to stand behind. Just get over it already. Stop making "ATLA is good" your *ENTIRE* personality.
@@Necrow_Productions #1. Discord. Back when MauLer and Literature Devil did that stream. If I recall, as well, E;R either tweeted something to his own audience about it, or that was also just on Discord. Interesting that you are *unaware* of this, (unless you're just playing dumb) since it was kind of the thing that crippled all the ATLA addicts back when it happened. Usually these days, they desperately try to pretend E;R never said *anything.* Which to be fair, is probably exactly what you're doing right now by acting like you don't even know what I'm talking about. Statistically, it's FAR more likely that you would've *heard* of this by now, considering you *clearly* care too much about ATLA to the point of bringing it up in the context of "dumbest arguments ever made by EFAP"... #2. *Yeah,* thanks bro, I *totally* didn't realize that. You pointing it out *completely* changes anything about what I said... Also, it ain't "just an example" when you *specifically* said "one of the dumbest arguments they have ever made." It's CLEARLY OBVIOUS that this "example" is "JUST" a bit too important to you... Can you people do *ANYTHING* besides cope? Like, seriously? Your response to me saying you were coping was just to cope about being accused of coping. What an ouroboros...
@@eidolon1426 Dude you really need to calm down. You don't even know if I like ATLA or not. For the record. I think it's a decent kids show that's only held up by nostalgia. The reason I used it as an example is because Mauler watched it 1.5x speed on a second monitor and Lit Devil gave shitty arguments E;R would have never made. Do you just go in a blind rage and insult anyone that likes ATLA? You need to get your tipples out of the twist my dude. Also, you ignored my other example and the whole point of my post. Are you upset because EFAP made a mistake? I could list 20 other ones but they are so minor and subjective. Like the Arrival debate had some flaws but their content was good and the main points stuck kind of thing. Again, you should stop assuming things about people who bring up ATLA. It's not about coping, it happened 5 years ago and it's still going around BECAUSE it was handled poorly. I legit moved on, it's just funny history like Rhino Milk or the Don. (Seriously though, Get me that source, I don't think E;R gave it a 4/10)
@@williamkelly5689 No, they're known for taking on video essays and other videos talking about media more generally. Breakdowns and so on were a minority and they would rather just do reviews on their main channels. Mostly, they talked about movies using terrible videos of other creators as a jumping off point, as they could then also contrast their opinion (which largely is always the same) with someone else's. The thing where they basically just made one movie review after another themselves is a recent thing; it's not as much fun as well.
Hyun-ju is lowkey the best character in the show; combat veteran who went trans so is jobless now, and doesn't like seeing people get bullied; them ending up this desperate to enter death-games while having solid survival skills actually makes a lot of sense. Considering the amount of trans people who end up homeless it's actually wierder that there's only one But eh, it's your time
This one is actually good! She's not a bch or rude with the rationalization that being trans is so hard she has the right to be. They actually give her a character more than transness and she's encouraging and a fighter! I don't blame you for not giving it a chance but they actually did their homework and her character is cool!
I really don't think you can say people liked the main character so he had to come back in season 2... Gi-hun is an utter asshole in season one... something that is very odd for a main character to be... he's a bad father, his ex wife despises him, his daughter saw him at his worst, addicted to gambling, stealing his mom's money and losing it, doesn't work, disappoints his mom on every occasion to the point she has given up on him and a general disappointment to all his friends... what is there to like about Gi-hun ?!? Yes he wins the game, but only by cheating his opponents and murdering the other contestants... again... what is there to like about Gi-hun ?!? Have the members of the panel even watched Season 01 ? or just a summary... There are no time jumps... there is 1 time jump at the start of the new season to further the story... no plural.. singular. There's a very particular reason why detective Hwang Jun-ho doesn't wanna go back to his severe crimes unit and is working the simple police life... the answer is in episode 2 where it shows a picture of his family members... that's why he is doing his private investigations and doesn't want to join the government investigation any more (no spoiler).
I understand what you're saying about Gi-Hun, and those are valid reasons not to like him, but I don't think you understand what audiences tend to like characters for? He's a bad father, who still loves his daughter all the same. He finds himself in awful debt that he's responsible for, which hurts those close to him, and he's also kind enough at the start to put the straw back in someone's drink when he bumps into them by accident, and that kind of goofy kindness and care, even as he completely fumbles in what he wants to do, resonated with viewers. That got people rooting for him to pay off his debts, and once he starts participating in the squid games he's still showing kindness throughout, depending on the scene in question at any rate. I don't know that I can call him a good person, but Season 1 of Squid Game did a good job at getting us on his side, despite, or sometimes because of the awful decisions he makes.
You’ve got Gi-Hun completely pegged wrong, my guy. The point is that at his core, he’s a good and even noble person who let his addiction take control of him. We are shown countless times in season 1 that he will always choose the path that leads to the most lives being saved. The only time he ever uses dirty tactics is against the old man in the marble game, and only because there is literally no other way to survive the situation. Even at the end of the line, he is willing to throw all the money away just to save Sang-Woo.
Most of the people participating in the game are bad people to a certain extent, at least they have self destructive tendencies that lead them to the games in the first place. Gi-Hun grew over the course of the games, learned the value of his own life and broke his addiction that was causing a rift with his family.
@@Mooxieclang Please reread my original comment again. The point is not that he is a bad person, the point is that the panel describes him coming back 'because he is a likeable person'... Rewatching season 1 reminded me what a pillock he is.
@@ManHamOrigins & @gorade1901 I 100% disagree He's an opportunist that only looks out for himself.. all through season 1, with the only exception of the girl at the end of season 1...
Why couldn’t they replace all Korean actors with English ones. I get the show is made in Korea but only English speaking people watch it not the squid game people

I imagine he would constantly whine about his obesity and how he is sure to die in the next game, yet he would always vote for O. 4:07:00 Here’s the thing.
The difference between Squid Game and Spider-Verse is that
Squid Game is already a finished product.
Don't think his terrible rizz has anything to with it😂
It's because animation at that high level takes a while, and they don't even pay the animators well.

I love how Platoon calls the main character Master Sol and when he's talking about Star Wars, it's Master Squid Game.
Accused of SA or convicted for it? Those are two different things, you know?
Jamming a honey man for better help is the only thing that brings me joy.
Thank you for all the holiday content you massives !
The biggest plot hole for me was having all that money but not trying to bribe people to vote to stop.
I believe their debts outweighed all of his money and plus he still had to pay his crew. I just got to the 3rd episode so maybe I’m missing something.
That plus the money in the pot should do it
Or not telling them before the game began, that hey, this will be lethal and in the end only one person can win. Even if they don't believe you, the MC could of at least tried. By the time they are playing it is too late.

I don’t know why Front Man decides he needs to put himself in the games to see if it’s more fun than watching, when the Front Man is literally a previous winner of the games and should already know how it feels.
I don't think this time it is about fun. It's about making a point
I think he wants to screw over Gi Hun. Plus, he’s addicted to the game.
I saw it as him being more intrigued by Gi-Hun’s ballsiness and that he wanted to get firsthand info on what his plan was to stop the games
I think the Front Man is kinda addicted to the game and he wants to corrupt Gi Hun into his successor.

In the end though, only 91 people died this time around, where in the first game it was like half the people so he saved like 150 with his strategy

One thing I noticed is, I don’t believe Gi-Hun ever saw the Front Man in any shape or form in season 1, only heard his voice. So how does he have the nightmare where he sees the Front Man?
He could've seen him when he was transporting him back, before he got blindfolded. But yeah, that is a good point
I thought Gi-hun sits with Front Man in the limo home but maybe I'm doing a Mandela
@@samwallaceart288
He sits with him but Gi-Hun is blindfolded the whole time.
Also the nightmare scene is goofy af.
The example of nightmare/hallucination done right in my opinion, is Daredevil season 3 when Matt hallucinated talking to (and killing) Fisk.
He also has nobody what the front man looks like
Detective guy has to tell him he’s a guy with a grey coat and black mask
Hey did they ever talk about Blue Eyed Samurai? That’s another season 2 that’s making me nervous!
Because it's an average cartoon, with another strong female lead.
Drinker glazed it up when it's just another girlboss fantasy.

I finally figured out why the guy in the thumbnail looks so familiar! He's the guy from the Acolyte!
Is Platoon really naive enough to think that the villain’s motivations of “we do what we do because we’re rich and bored” isn’t realistic?
When you think about the amount of effort they are putting in to what is essentially “we want to kill people Jigsaw style”, it feels very unrealistic.
Tell me where in the world “playing games with death as a consequence” is realistic. And I’m not talking about “I could die from getting punched too many times in boxing”.
I’m talking “if I don’t play red light green light correctly I could be shot.”
@@nhagan001it's pretty naive to assume people getting killed for entertainment never happens. It's a big world and a lot of fucked up people end up with money in their lap
The only unrealistic thing about this is the scale of contestants from such a small recruitment area, but the games themselves could totally happen
@@nhagan001
It was more of a generalization about how rich elites will absolutely go to insane lengths to do heinous things for the sake of entertaining themselves (Jeff Epstein, anyone?)
As for people being willing to participate in a game where death is a real possibility being unrealistic, I point you to a documentary called “The Contestant.” It’s about a man who participated in a highly controversial japanese game show in the 90s. The game runners didn’t threaten him, but they were certainly willing to allow him to die for entertainment.
@@nhagan001It’s a fictional show. That’s the concept of the show.
I think the matrix name drop works better because it’s a foreign film in Korea
I saw it as thematic examination of the pills, where if he goes back into the games, you will see the reality of how people are. See that the people wanted to play these games and never needed to in the same way the homeless people didn't need to choose the scratch ticket over the bread.
Not as good aa season 1 but I was still totally invested.

3:07 - Well ... The Little Platoon is here so we are way good. I like Rags, but I like The Little Platoon better.
Squid game reminds me of Gyakkyō Burai Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor, where at first you think its a good guy in a bad situation, but really its just a gambling addict
I like how fringy is sort of taking charge this efap with the narrations and what not
If I had the money I would spend half of finding the island even if I need to check all of them and another half on Expandable’s team.
1:24:15
Cylinder, not barrel.
The show is painfully stupid sometimes and boring most of the time. It is basically season one again, so the real question is, why bother?
Also, why give them forks to shank each other when chopsticks would of been much more effective lol?
This is one of those series where if you repeat again its simple concept in a sequel... it gets old, but they did it and that is creative bankrupcy yes, Netflix already did the same thing with Money Heist/Casa de Papel.
Prison Break is similar, and with S2 they didn't repeat the whole prison thing, the series evolved from that, sure they did it with S3 but it was different enough, short season, and it wasnt right after S1.
They sould have done something like that here honestly.
I think there needed to be more squid

I miss when EFAP responded to RUclips videos. Feels like most of their recent episodes have been summarizing shows they watched.

One of the best shows I watched this year was a second season, wolf hall: mirror and the light, stellar cast, dialogue, costuming; the works
Some random thoughts in episode 1:
When Recruiter man kidnaps the two thugs, he shows how Russian Roulette works by pointing his gun at his own head and pulling the trigger when it is loaded (with GiHun he points it at the ceiling).
I didn't understand recruiters scenes. What's his motive? is he fed up? or just went nuts? Why now? He's been doing it for years.
If you're perceptive enough you can work out where the bullet is by watching the chamber spin.
I saw it as some form of karmic retribution after admitting killing his own father
Rest of the season is not bad but the trans character is super annoying. "she" got no other character than being trans and its all "her" scenes are about.
Second half of the season is way worse than the first half.
And when there are that many people playing, it's easy to convince yourself the odds are in your favor - that's essentially what the O team kept saying as their justification.
the funny thing was... it was 1 in 2 from the start.

It’s pretty good it’s just unfinished
I definitely think it's not bad but the issue is the ending where it felt like mid-season finale rather than whole srason finale. What left the bad taste in my mouth wasn't the shoe but more the fact that clearly Netflix is trying to milk it.
I think it's worth a watch, at least when both parts are out, but, it's not as good as S1 when it comes to that seasons strengths.

Mandatory military service and constant drilling because S.Korea is technically still at war. @@josephjackson9679 As well, many people go career military here as the pay is pretty good and barring war, the benefits are good as well. The first episode had me very hopeful for the rest of the season, but the rest under delivered.
I fast forwarded most of the detective and number 11 scenes after episode 2. They should have given up on him after season 1, they can't make his arc at all interesting and also have the games run smoothly till the end.

(Seriously though, Get me that source, I don't think E;R gave it a 4/10)
In episode 1 he could have admitted the loss at the end and give up the key. That’s it. No need to shoot at all lol
No? the game was for their lives not the key that would go against his entire philosophy
So much better without Rags
But Rags is my only joy in life.
You just hate Yanks.
And annoying dogs.
I think Rags and his Christmas family tism is kinda ghey.
BIGGEST plot hole in the show: Gi-Hun could have shown the people hunting for the Recruiter _Train to Busan_ to show them what he looks like.
I phrased this terribly but I hope people understand what I was trying to say.
I've not seen S1 and only episode 2 of s2, but i like detective guy. xD
Can we get a break from all the damn breakdown episodes? Efap has been a content deadzone for weeks.
Isn’t that what they’re known for ?
@@williamkelly5689 No, they're known for taking on video essays and other videos talking about media more generally. Breakdowns and so on were a minority and they would rather just do reviews on their main channels. Mostly, they talked about movies using terrible videos of other creators as a jumping off point, as they could then also contrast their opinion (which largely is always the same) with someone else's. The thing where they basically just made one movie review after another themselves is a recent thing; it's not as much fun as well.
Agree
Not gonna watch because I'm not interested in yet another trans "girl"boss.
Hyun-ju is lowkey the best character in the show; combat veteran who went trans so is jobless now, and doesn't like seeing people get bullied; them ending up this desperate to enter death-games while having solid survival skills actually makes a lot of sense. Considering the amount of trans people who end up homeless it's actually wierder that there's only one
But eh, it's your time
This one is actually good! She's not a bch or rude with the rationalization that being trans is so hard she has the right to be. They actually give her a character more than transness and she's encouraging and a fighter!
I don't blame you for not giving it a chance but they actually did their homework and her character is cool!
lmao the copium in the replies
@@valentinvozaf647they're a good character, I'm not gonna lie that's weak
It's funny because the character is very masculine. They're barely pretending to be a woman.
The only dub I defend is the English-dub of “Kaguya-sama: Love is War”.
Do not forget the Ghost Stories dub.
(Srsly, search for some clips if you don't know it)
Am i first or what, well i wasnt on the actual live
@@ManHamOrigins & @gorade1901 I 100% disagree
He's an opportunist that only looks out for himself.. all through season 1, with the only exception of the girl at the end of season 1...

Why couldn’t they replace all Korean actors with English ones. I get the show is made in Korea but only English speaking people watch it not the squid game people
This is the most American comment I’ve ever read
entitlement🤣
"Squid game people" 🤣
