As long as career criminals have revolving doors instead of harsh jail time, Portland will keep circling the drain. Recent repositioning of the deck chairs on the collision bound SS Portlandia are a waste of time and energy, ignoring reality at all levels. These self-absorbed career public servants make a lot of money, with nothing to show for their efforts, as the city of roses circles the drain of their making. Freely roaming career criminals teamed with freely thumb-twiddling career busybody politicians guarantees that eroding quality of life in Portland drives good people elsewhere.

If you add up all the money 💰 that was awarded for the homeless crisis From 2017 until now so you tell me, mayor Ted Wheeler and Dan Ryan should be held accountable for their actions, too much money being spent on other things but not the homeless people in Portland Oregon

Maybe limit government to public safety, infrastructure maintenance, punishing lawbreakers, and selling off un-used property to the private sector. Limit fees to actual cost-of-processing, instead of using huge fees as a tax that was never approved by voters or legislators. End the duplication of services that state and county are also providing. etc etc Pulling bureaucratic weeds is not rocket science.

Progressives think they can solve all of the worlds problems. Using their failed ideology and policies, with our tax dollars. Expect they will blame us for not paying more.

We need to stop wasting so much money on helping the homeless and start using that money to fix the problems creating the homelessness. Perhaps making rent affordable would be a start. Maybe if we created more apartments and houses we wouldn't need so many shelters. Maybe I'm wrong but shouldn't we put money towards solutions rather than wasting money on the problem.
Getting rid of poor farms and mental institutions was a big mistake and we should reform them and bring them back. It would solve so many problems. It would house many people who can't thrive in society and help people get back on their feet financially and re-enter society. It would create jobs, it would strengthen society and create safe communities.

If a homeless person is paid with homeless money and they help other homeless people and none are external victims shouldn’t they get some skills to not milk the financially beleaguered state if it is and/or be simple permitted to achieve regulated shelter of their own freedom at zero public land cost.
