4:31 - “There’s an entire galaxy of races United and ready to face you” So that’s a complete lie at this point in time. Hell the Council doesn’t even believe in Reapers for the first two games
Interesting how they believed in the Reapers at the end of ME1 but not in ME2. I know that things can seem intense in the moment and people can change their minds after processing things, plus there's an element of politics in not wanting the Reapers to be real in ME2. But they really did a complete 180, I can't remember any mention of the fact that the council said "Thank you for saving us from the Reapers" before saying "The Reapers don't exist."
Abraham Drinkin I know right? Like 1000s of other colonists would have seen sovereign, the geth, and Saren... and the council would be like, “no asari, turians, or salarians? Doesn’t count then.”
One of the best villains ever in gaming. I can't think of any other villain more imposing and even scary, and all the Reapers as a whole. The writers went above and beyond to make a Lovecraftian antagonist.
Does it seem weird to anyone else to call the Reapers soulless machines? Organics gained “souls” over time, and by developing. But the reapers have been around MUCH longer!!! They’ve had time to develop these abilities,
FurryEskimo I am not even sure if they can be classified as machine, while they are synthetic, they are created by DNA harvested from other organic races, the human reaper at the end of mass effect 2 for instance. They are unfathomably interesting.
We never got a really solid explanation on how it all works though. :/ Like why didn’t the human reaper give us a fist bump and invite us to chill? Humans aren’t just killing machines.
Wild Card If that’s how you feel, ok. I felt cheated out of a real story. Too many shows say “you could never understand” and leave it at that. Boring...
What was a HUUUGE let down in the entire trilogy is we didn't get this answer: Were each Reaper independent and had free thoughts and free will? Or was it the Starchild, The Catalyst controlling EVERY Reaper? Was it him talking when we spoke to Sovereign, Harbinger and the Rannoch Reaper? I ignored Mass Effect 4. Don't know if they answered it there but i highly doubt it.
Boy howdy anyone walking into Mass Effect 1 with zero spoilers seeing the first Reaper in that first scene... like I did at the beginning, would think that's a massive fucking hand.
Would've been interesting if sending in the fleet early to save the council had some more negative effects. As far as I can tell it had no negative consequences in ME2 or 3. Now characters that died, no plots relating to the extra losses, not even a slight reduction in war assets. Seeing some extra nameless ships blowing up in a cut scene doesn't feel like much of an impact. Hell maybe a piece of Sovereign could've escaped.
I saw a video the other day where the replacement Salarian councilor gives you extra war assets that the original one wouldn't, so there may be some little things like that.
I think we're all a little harsh on Udina. I mean he only ever got half the story from Shephard, he was clearly on humanty's side when arguing with the council, the things he did were totally logical and reasonable given the facts he was presented with. Also he's a skilled politician who might actually make a difference on the council, Anderson is just some navy captain, who are clearly a dime a dozen considering the huge number of alliance ships that got blown up like tie fighters shooting sovereign.
I'm looking forward to seeing how different Sovereign will look with ME Legendary Edition. (I'm aware I'm probably over-hyping it with that statement, and I'm sorry if it's annoying, but I'm looking forward to the game(s) being released)
Awww yes. When shepherd warns everyone about the reapers and......ME3 they then start believing. Krogan: I hope politicians appreciate you shepherd. ... Me: they tried to retire him but ME3 changed that almost immediately.
Never appreciated the Reapers not acknowledging their creators, seems like they absorbed and harvested them like all the later civilisations so even then they have a beginning as organic life. Even if it was millions of years ago
Sovereign sounds far different than Harbinger. But Reapers are made from BOTH organic and synthetic civilizations. My theory is that Sovereign, unlike Harbinger, is made from a harvested civilization of AIs, and because of that it sounds so metallic and alien. Moreover it loaths Geth (who ironically worship it as their god), not jus because they were not like it, but because they reminded it of its weak, past life before Reaperization.
Hey Jaguar550 question. Reapers leaves the Citadel and Mass relay so that humans can evolve. Just so they can destroy them. If the humans never found those would the Reapers never have show up? Like Sovereign says the Reapers wanna them in the path of evolution just to extinct them.
Basically what Brett said if humanity didn't find the Relays in time then they would have just been the next cycles empire and the Reapers would have ignored them because since we didn't discover the Mass Relays they would have seen us as "too primitive"
If a race can't even learn to use the mass relays, let alone have the means to traverse the galaxy like the turians, asari, salarians, etc. Then the reapers simply will ignore them as they aren't considered intelligent enough to be harvested. However though that doesn't mean they're safe 100%, the moment they gain the ability to travel via their star system's mass relay and to the citadel is when they'll be noticed and collected during the next cycle of extinction.
I think its the only reaper that had a post relevant story with direct affect on the games trajectory so it was the only one with a very Palpable impact and personality, so I guess yeah it was

So that’s a complete lie at this point in time. Hell the Council doesn’t even believe in Reapers for the first two games
I like how Joker was the one to deal the killing blow to Sovereign.
Sovereign: I am beyond your understanding....
Also Sovereign: Let me introduce myself
I love so much mass effect ❤
Yup:)
Me to
Same here
Ahmed PLatinum does everyone?
Interesting how they believed in the Reapers at the end of ME1 but not in ME2. I know that things can seem intense in the moment and people can change their minds after processing things, plus there's an element of politics in not wanting the Reapers to be real in ME2. But they really did a complete 180, I can't remember any mention of the fact that the council said "Thank you for saving us from the Reapers" before saying "The Reapers don't exist."
It's just a retcon. Honestly, all you would need to do is cut "and the Reapers" from one sentence and the problem disappears.
I’ve never understood how or why they didn’t get pics and video of Sovereign on Eden Prime when they saw it in the distance.
Abraham Drinkin I know right? Like 1000s of other colonists would have seen sovereign, the geth, and Saren... and the council would be like, “no asari, turians, or salarians? Doesn’t count then.”
@@silver_desperado Well, to be fair, the Council didn't dispute the Geth attack, they disputed Saren's presence. Only one of the colonists saw him.
One of the best villains ever in gaming. I can't think of any other villain more imposing and even scary, and all the Reapers as a whole. The writers went above and beyond to make a Lovecraftian antagonist.
"Hard on my flank! We're going in!" Will still be one of my top 10 video games moments.
Like why didn’t the human reaper give us a fist bump and invite us to chill?
Humans aren’t just killing machines.
FurryEskimo adds to the mystery
Wild Card If that’s how you feel, ok. I felt cheated out of a real story. Too many shows say “you could never understand” and leave it at that. Boring...
What was a HUUUGE let down in the entire trilogy is we didn't get this answer: Were each Reaper independent and had free thoughts and free will? Or was it the Starchild, The Catalyst controlling EVERY Reaper? Was it him talking when we spoke to Sovereign, Harbinger and the Rannoch Reaper?
I ignored Mass Effect 4. Don't know if they answered it there but i highly doubt it.
9:15 When you move back to your first house and find out someone ruined with shit on the walls
Saren is an UNDERRATED villian though
Sovereign is tha area 51 endboss
Having seen the Battle of the Citadel in the new remaster, it makes Sovereign look even cooler
I wish we could play as the Reapers. We would likely have to lose, but it would be a hell of a ride
0:45 was so creepy and amazing.
*Someone talking to me before my morning coffee*
Me: 3:14
The Reapers should consider themselves lucky not being in the Star Trek universe, even the Cardasians can easily kick their ass.
Boy howdy anyone walking into Mass Effect 1 with zero spoilers seeing the first Reaper in that first scene...
like I did at the beginning,
would think that's a massive fucking hand.
We are legion The time of are return is coming are numbers will darken the sky of every world
That last scene, he should have just taken his willie out and peed on sovereigns wreckage to assert his dominance ;)
My wet dream: Have Christopher Nolan take on the Mass Effect trilogy.
Motoruven As a Nolan Fanatic, never say never. But outside of Batman (DC), Nolan’s not really into franchises. He’s all about original ideas.
Then he becomes illusive man in real life 😂
Saren was a much better villain than illusive man
I have to disagree.
@83rdox read the mass effect novels. He one of those tragic heroes turned into a villain. I dear you to read those interesting novels
I never found the need to compare. I enjoy the whole trilogy and I'm happy about it
Would've been interesting if sending in the fleet early to save the council had some more negative effects.
9:30 reminds me of a parasite that attaches to the tongue of a fish ... :D
TheNefari IS THAT A WTF 101 REFERENCE?
Most definitely yes :D
"We are each a nation. Independent, free of all weakness." Man, Sovereign was so much cooler than Harbinger.
At least Sovereign got the chance to become the main antagonist Harbinger was just there in 3
7:36
Congrats on 7000 subscribers dude!
Thanks!
Only a star dreadnought like a bellator can defeat the sovereign
I think we're all a little harsh on Udina. I mean he only ever got half the story from Shephard, he was clearly on humanty's side when arguing with the council, the things he did were totally logical and reasonable given the facts he was presented with. Also he's a skilled politician who might actually make a difference on the council, Anderson is just some navy captain, who are clearly a dime a dozen considering the huge number of alliance ships that got blown up like tie fighters shooting sovereign.
8:59 someone carrying the legacy of HMS Dreadnought
the custom Shepard always looks so goofy since it uses npc textures
This is one game I never and i repeat NEVER get bored and to be honest I really get into the game
I'm looking forward to seeing how different Sovereign will look with ME Legendary Edition. (I'm aware I'm probably over-hyping it with that statement, and I'm sorry if it's annoying, but I'm looking forward to the game(s) being released)
1:12 thought at first that was a giant hand.
R.I.P. Sovereign
Awww yes. When shepherd warns everyone about the reapers and......ME3 they then start believing.
Krogan: I hope politicians appreciate you shepherd.
...
Me: they tried to retire him but ME3 changed that almost immediately.
Nice video! Doing an incredible job keep it up!
Custom Shepard's always look so goofy xd
Never appreciated the Reapers not acknowledging their creators, seems like they absorbed and harvested them like all the later civilisations so even then they have a beginning as organic life. Even if it was millions of years ago
Can we alll agre Mass Effect deserves a TV series or Movie triology, suchhhh an epic universe!
no, they will ruin it. let it be a perfect game.
Womn love it when you speak to them like sovereign
Lol Shepherd looks like Robert Whittaker
Best GOAT!
the hell is robert whittaker doing in mass effect?
Been a world champion and saved the galaxy.
What a guy.
Then joker killed him
is sovereign the only "good" reaper?
I think its the only reaper that had a post relevant story with direct affect on the games trajectory so it was the only one with a very Palpable impact and personality, so I guess yeah it was
@@mep15067 Harbinger directing the Collectors for the whole game doesn't drive the plot?
I want an option to romance Sovereign.
Did you got a Colossus armor since the beginning? Nice :D
So in the end Shepard saves everyone and his reward is being ejected into space?
Space Robot Cthulhu.
They grow so fast
Vi as in ... THE LEGENDARY TEXT EDITOR ?
Mihai Lazar virtual interface
I didn’t save the council
I'm not sure if I'm disturbed or intrigued at the number of Reaper fetishists in the comments.
In the entire battle for the citadel, Joker fired only one(!!) shot.
all that for 1 reaper
Shep faces codes ?
I don't know because this video is from the old trilogy and did not use face codes in ME1.
@@Commander_Vakarian Oh thx for answer anyway :))
The monke
harbinger next ?
9:36 and onwards is hot.
