    Watched the video about 3 times and put it back together twice and low and behold, first pull ran like a champ. I found out the thin vs. the thick gasket, goes one way on one side and the other way on the opposite. Great tip. Wished I had listened better the first time I watched. Thanks for the help and now on to the weed trimmer. Piece of cake...

    When you take the needle out, you must reset the float level with a Zama float level tool. The float level is the most critical adjustment made in a carburetor. Poking a hole in the screen does nothing. Fuel will flow through a clean screen just fine. It will allow more than enough fuel for that engine to run. I also noticed that your diaphragm had wrinkles in it. If the diaphragm has little waves or wrinkles in it, replace it. I do this everyday and know from experience. If the diaphragm is not very soft and pliable, have it replaced. Another tip... todays fuels are only good for about 30 days before it starts to turn unless it has fuel stabilizers in it. Smell the fuel first and it just might save you a whole bunch of time. The first thing I do is empty the fuel and start with a known good fuel source.

    I had changed the fuel lines, fuel filter, and spark plug. Still no start. Watched this video. Took the carburetor apart. It seemed pretty clean. Lost the tiny spring for about 15 minutes. Put it all back together and somehow, someway, after everything else failed, it started! I have the exact same leaf blower as in the video.

    @ESRepair  11 лет назад

    Cody ,
    It's most likely that the spring has slipped or broken . There's a small chance that there could be something wore out to . There's also the chance that there could be some dirt or something in the pulley system . Take some kind of spray lubricant and spray in and around the rope hole , if that doesn't work then try some carb cleaner and then let it dry and then relubricate .

    From recent experience, this particular model and the FL1500LE from Weed Eater are complete garbage. I had a customer bring in a 2015 FB25 that turned out to have sheared a flywheel key. I don't even know how you do that on a leaf blower. We purchased him the same one because he loved his old one so much. I took it out of the box and assembled it per instructions and tried to fire it up. Despite about 100 tries, the brand new, never used machine wouldn't fire. I put my spark tester on it, and to my surprise, there was no spark. So, I tried a different new spark plug. Again, no spark.
    Now, I am working on this guy's brother's FL1500LE. I cleaned the carburetor, replaced the fuel lines, cleaned the muffler and spark arrestor, and switched out the old fuel. It generates about 90PSI compression, and has plenty of spark. Still, this piece of junk will not fire. Take my advice, DON"T buy Weed Eater blowers.

    Found out the problem.
    It had a terribly dry rotted fuel line that had broken off into the tank. I got it replaced and now the blower runs like a charm. The only problem i find is that when i tilt the leaf blower at any angle, it dies.

    I got the blower 26b and with what you showed me I look closely at the gas lines and I could see the intake to the carburetor was not getting any gas so I put more gas in Pump It Up about 15 times the little ball pull started it about five six times it struggled but then it started it was starved for gas thank you

      The sole purpose of the purge bulb is to push old fuel and air inside the carburetor BACK to the fuel tank and pull fresh fuel into the carburetor. It does NOT put fuel into the engine.

    My blower lasted about 10 years and costed less then $100.00. I will just buy another one. Same with weed eater, washer, dryer, clothing and car. They finally burn out like light bulbs. And yes people too. But if you have the time, energy, tools and nerves go ahead you'll save money. I do change my car oil, filters and spark plugs.

      Andrew Buckley you have a weed eater brand leaf blower? That is what that is.

  • @ESRepair
    @ESRepair  11 лет назад +1

    briefroboboy,
    If it dies wen you tilt the blower then you probably got the fuel line to short and when you tilt it the gas runs away from the line and it starts sucking air and dies , especially when the tank is low . does it do it when the tank is full ?

    briefroboboy,
    Without seeing it or a better description it is hard to diagnoise what the problem is . Could be a stopped up carb , no compression ,stopped up muffler , bad coil , bad spark plug , bad kill switch ,etc . You need to check all of these things .

    If that doesn't fix it then you'll have to take it apart .But , I'll give you a warning and that is that the spring can go flying and it can be a big pain to rewind .

    Easier to just drain the tank, buy Mechanic in a Bottle at Home Depot. Pour in 1/4 bottle, pump the primer bulb so it all goes through. Now just wait 30 mins. Magic is now done as it frees and dissolves everything.

    Do not use any strong solvents or high PSI compressed air on these diaphragm carburetors. One can ruin the sensitive internal check valves easily.

    I have that same leaf blower. Except it's old. It hasn't been used in years. I dumped the old fuel and put in new. I've gotten it to start but then it stops after about 15-20 seconds and won't restart. I also have a brand new just out of the box Ryobi that I purchased 6-7 years ago but never opened. And it won't start either. Help.

    I cleaned the tiny carb on a brand new "no-start" Murray M25. There was a lot of junk that came out as well as plastic debris. I can now see fuel entering the combustion chamber when I pull it over but it still refuses to start. It has a spark.
    Anyone have an idea what the compression should be at? I got around 48-50psi. I'm thinking it should be (at minimum) 90psi.

      Carburetor/Choke Cleaner Spray is a very strong solvent and can easily make sensitive plastic/rubber check valves in the carb swell up and malfunction. Use something like WD-40 or an ultrasonic cleaner on the carburetor.
