- This should be most, if not all, of the ways the expedition can end in failure plus the various endings possible. This compilation may not be exhaustive for finding all possible variants but the main ones should be here.
The Pale Beyond is visual novel/resource management game pursuing a lost ship where you're thrust into the captain role and must lead the expedition through the ice, trying to keep everyone alive and earning their loyalty. I had great fun with this and would recommend it if you like the genre.
I've split this into showing the full path for pursuing the Viscount and abandoning the mission with everyone alive and loyal, and then showing major changes (i.e. Hunt or Templeton win the vote, whether you're detained or marooned by Minerva). I also include the extra events if you eat the fruit (which lets you ask Hunt more questions) and make it possible to convince him to sail the Viscount out. While it isn't an ending per se, I do include being able to maroon both Hunt and Templeton (if he's disloyal) mostly as Templeton is otherwise the only person who is guaranteed to survive to the end and that does technically mean you can ensure his death.

I can't start to imagine the time it took you to make this video, well done mate.
Wow, this is pretty comprehensive, great work!
Thanks for the fun with the game! I also can't wait for The Pale Beyond 2: Doggo Boogaloo - The Rise of Captain Stanberry. :D
I couldn't help but notice... There's an ending where it say 0/14 dogs... Stanberry is just having a nice walk, right?
I sold Stanberry to a farm north of Viscount Island where they'll be much happier.
here after to see about all the other endings, by the way, u might know already, but there is an ending where sail on the viscount to civilization with the tree on the ship 🌳
Just finished. This was strange... i might be a crazy man but as soon as i saw the tree all the grief about the people i got killed and dogs shot became... invalid?
For me before that point the game was about saving crew and maybe finding out why we were sent there. But the tree...
The power it holds can save so many lives and help humanity to achive something we probably won't achieve. And i dont understand why i cant decide to give the tree to someone else but the company? Like one of my crew members is of the royal blood.
that's where I thought that whole subplot was going.... It just ends in nothing?
God damn, I just finished the game with rescuing the Tree (which I understand is sentient and it wanted to manipulate me so I defy Hunt and help it escape burning and eruption) and I am so disappointed that it does not have real ending. "End journey" button is not the ending. We had a poet photographer on the ship, couldn't she describe the crew's feats and their future, impact of their choices or at least, of bringing the Tree to civilization etc. ?
How the hell, during the dev meeting about the ending of the game, they decided that the good idea is to not have an ending at all ? Is it going to be a free DLC like in Mass Effect ?
From my understanding there will be a free update that expands the ending.
@@CrankyTemplar thanks for the answer, I hope it will be sooner than later. Great job on the video, it must have taken a lot of time to put this together. I appreciate your effort.
And free update is out, go check :D
@@Zverobob Unfortunately The Pale Beyond isn't working on my PC so I'm waiting on a workaround to be able to compile the epilogues.
@@Zverobob hah, I uninstalled the game yesterday 😁
how to save juniors lifeboat?
You need enough uninjured (or I believe at worst freezing/malnourished) people in each lifeboat for it to survive. I'm not sure if specific roles improve the chances of succeess but putting wounded/frostbitten/scurvy folks in either spare lifeboat will increase the chances the boat is lost.
To ensure you have as few people hurt as possible, don't hunt on Week 32, cure as many freezing people as possible in Week 37 and before sailing, use all food/fuel on Week 37 (should result in one freezing person you can cure before sailing and at that point food/fuel don't mean anything). If you save the medical supplies tent you can put 3-4 people in (assuming you have the medical tools) to cure an extra wounded person or two.
Stick the one or two wounded person(s) in your lifeboat, then split the remaining people amongst the two lifeboats.
So........... the entire plot of this game is about trying to chop down a Cherry(blossom) Tree???
No, the entire plot is to survive. Hunt's motivations in abandoning the expedition is to reach the Viscount first and prevent it from falling into the hands of the Appertton company, as the fruit gives you some curious time travel powers. Assuming you opt to pursue the Viscount and find Hunt you can agree with him in burning the tree or not.
god lord so much dialogue ....
really shite game; so much depressing and stupid as well. They deleted their discord as well; would have funked them there only
