  • The upcoming release of The Little Mermaid had some fans on edge on what to expect from it. If we look at previous Live Action films such as Beauty and The Beast, Aladdin, and Cinderella there may be a way to predict what can happen with this version of the 1989 Disney classic. Halle Bailey and Melissa Mcarthy star in this film and if your wondering what they could minorly change in the plot, looking over other live-action films is the best place to start.

    I don't think the live-action Lion King failed because it was a total remake of the original. The problem was the acting. The CG characters had no facial reactions to read and so we get no emotional ties to them. It would not have mattered if they totally changed the script. Mulan didn't fail because it had no songs. It failed because they removed her hero's journey thus nurfing her character and giving the audience no stakes in her success.
