Absolutely - preventing steam is even better than removing it before it spreads!! Even baking potatoes in a gas oven produces loads of moisture too - it's the gas as well as a boiling pot. Indeed - I didn't get mobbed at all 😂 Hope you enjoyed your day.
Thanks Lee, this was very useful. I have a fire and gas stove - I may put fans on 2 out of our 5 mushroom vents to help extract. Will keep researching 12v computer fans vs extractor fans due to the cost difference. Were your fans from a chandlery? The window tips were very useful too. I need to fill the gaps with spray foam as well. Lots of work to do!

I fully recognise lots of boats so have bare/painted steel around the windows and they're ok, but some have issues with where that condensation collects... to me it's an obvious dew point, hence trying to avoid it... As you've got a fire and gas you'll have more vents anyway, so computer fans may be enough for your needs (again - plenty of boats don't have them and don't have problems). With only two vents in mine and looking at the volume of air moved by a pc fan spending £35/fan from eBay to have a chance of moving 'most of the local steam' seemed wise [I bought loads of things ahead of time] (I don't think I've ever bought anything at a chandlers). Something like www.quietpc.com/nf-a9-flx is achieving the same... But if you go smaller then things drop quickly (or get noisy or expensive)
