Rares response to this video from a community manager has been that I am glorifying a ban evader and therefore there is misinterpretation and the video is misleading. Theb is a ban evader but the reference to them is proof that live moderation is possible within the game. I truly believe that Theb is a good person due to the support and standing up against the issue in this video and backing my community and the women of OCE and to me anyone with a solid community and 80k subscribers IS loved BUT my point using him as an example is there is no other reference point other than Theb to show live moderation is possible and Rare has been able to live moderate him playing the game and banning him multiple times a stream in some instances, for YEARS. When they banned him in the clip I showed, he was versing a flying cheater, it's very obvious they are a cheater. This person went on to harass OCE players after Theb was banned live on stream and when you think about it logically when doing live moderation why would any community member pick the person not being harassing, toxic or cheating in the moment over the cheater who is.
Rare is shooting themselves in the foot, I love the game but watching how hard the cheating is spilling out is crazy. Theb is a great content creater who got on the bad side of a company who is petty and would rather keep him out and watch thoer game die then ever address the cheaters. Sorry you're going through it, something truly does need to change on rares end because this game is falling apart.
In my opinion you shouldn’t have to do this but you can lookup how to contact Brett jenks who is the ceo of rare and you might be able to get a response I’m just giving ideas to try and help so sorry if this message hits the wrong way ❤
Honestly, I am surprised you did not get a ban yourself for trying to push the issue. (I dont mean that in a negative sentiment). I actually several years ago got banned from the official SOT Forums for calling out this exact issue (in the context of when Arena was still around), and they were in the height of stopping talks about PVE only mode (fast forward a year later and we have safer seas, freaking irony). Anyway, my post is actually STILL on the thread in question, but they kept insisting I was inciting problems. Again, ironic because my post that got me banned is STILL available to read, and was not edited or removed, just now in a locked thread. Since then, I have attempted to report bugs, cheaters and so on, and have been met with the same brick wall that is the support system, and most recently actually got threatened in a support ticket, by Lady Aijou (RARE Employee) with a potential Redbeard to my account if I kept pushing the issue. Then went back and found my whole ticket history REMOVED from the list. They need to get there house in order, because at this point, there are more problem with this game than they are willing to acknowledge, and it's frustrating that more people are not aware of it (mostly due to the efforts by rare to silence, or censor everyone who tries to bring it up) - honestly pretty impressive the amount of effort they spend on that, than actual cheater prevention.
Guessing you’ve never played COD Ricochet anticheat is terrible far worse cheating problem in cod than sot. also pretty much every game is flooded with cheaters in 2024 gaming isn’t fun anymore devs don’t care enough to fix the problem they’re still getting paid either way
@@niknakn2n i think cod is only as bad as it is because activision ignores it, sot is bad because rare seems to only ban people who dont deserve it not the actual cheaters
This is disgusting. I had no idea the cheating got this bad. I love this game, but this is upsetting... Rare need to get another anti cheat, and to listen to it's fans.
"feel it hit the back of your appendix" lmao bro did NOT pay attention in school. basic biology is not that hard. average cheater intellect on full display.
“We are sick and tired of not being heard by anyone, we just want answers” “Don’t be absurd. Christ” all you’ve done is dodge questions and you had to know that the support tickets are being ignored and this is your response? They aren’t even pretending to care anymore
That is still such a ridiculous response from a community manager, especially one that was hired by a legit company for the job. If the customer support talked like that at my job to a customer, they would be gone in an instant. It's just plan unprofessional. Rare is a joke.
@@zerconic Exactly. And this is how they behave all the time, you don’t need screenshots to see. It’s just out in the open in the community Discord, they treat people like shit.
@@nostalgiagatuna if I was allowed to talk I'd probably be muted for criticising them anyway since they so often do that (btw I can't talk because I have a word in my bio that isn't a word and they have a bot that calls it offensive or not allowed so uh yeah)
If had more situation with support in sot u would know what a lot earlier its only in videos everyone funny and so exited about they game deleting half of pvp game play and add 3 h of content once in half of year ban people for nothing and won't describe why would they ban people with policy that if bought another sot copy they have right to ban you for no reason couse u was already banned they never did carry about players
I’m a nobody, but their Discord is the cringiest Discord I’ve ever been in, the mods attitudes are horrible, there hasn’t been a day where I’ve taken a little peak at the tavern and they’re not straight up being condescending and rude to someone asking for a bit of advice or something totally normal. They’re being defensive all day and they celebrate themselves between 4-5 mods only. The energy is just disgusting in there. Not surprised to see how they treated you, is exactly what I mean, all day every day.
I'm not a nobody in the discord. I got banned a month or so ago due to "insider leaking" The real reason? I noticed Rare was implementing balance changes I recommend and was talking about an apparently coming EoR change (I don't have Insiders). Though that's not what I really want to discuss. The entire mod team are all hired out of one friend group. To be able to talk about anything you have to become part of that in-group by behaving extremely weirdly. Anyone outside of that group that becomes controversial will just get banned. Even if they don't break the rules. And anyone in the in-group can openly admit to breaking the rules and won't be banned. Also like 70% of people are depressed/suicidal and giving each other therapy online which really just makes the mods far too emotionally invested in people.
Its genuinely sad to see Rare is abundantly aware of their cheater issues, and instead of fixing it in any capacity, they ban, ignore, or silence the people who just want to enjoy their game. I don't think I've ever seen a company that supports the people destroying their game more than Rare.
Gaslighting the playerbase, basically. What matters most is public image and investors bonuses, not gameplay safety or quality. Im sure some devs do want to make the game better but the priorities come from the top.
I encountered a cheater last night dude shot me through the ship and basically stayed in the air most of the time. Told me the blunderbuss was nerfed but yet hit me one shot at a distance with it and killed me instantly but when I shot him directly in the face up close it didn't kill him. Dude was legit garbage
As all this is going on the only thing I've seen rare do is announce a fucking emporium sale like holy shit this company is so incredibly tone deaf it's insane
If the clam himself is saying this it gotta be real but watch more people say it wasn't cheaters even with how obvious it is (I didn't find this comment coz you posted the video I was just reading comments hehe)
There was an EAC-based exploit recently in Apex as well, during a pro tournament. Software seems to create more vulnerabilities than it prevents, all while impacting performance.
@@EthanMcEwan-wi4bt Same I got it back in 2019 and they still wont even reply. I was a year 1 pirate legend and it's all gone for what? What was the reasoning. Still stings to this day but I'm glad it's coming to light now I really hope there will be positive change.
The fact that the FLAGSHIP of xbox gaming has cheaters that can BAN players and such a hilariously bad support system is just insane to me. How does microsoft and rare even allow these things to happen??🤣🤣🤣 It's honestly just sad.
@velvetbrownfox I have roughly 3700 hours in Xbox servers and I’ve never seen a cheater, they can’t get in there. You have no clue what you’re talking about.
Bro said to go the local authorities like they’re gonna do anything about the harassment and cheaters coming from the game YOU work for. What a terrible terrible “community” rep
Unfortunatly thats true for most cases of online harassment. Unless you pay from your own pocket a lawyer and get a police warrant so the devs give the harasser's info... and even then... its easier to go off grid sometimes and "let the cheaters win". Safer Seas at least helped a bit, but you can still be banned in your Xbox Live account by false report spams via Minecraft cheats. (Yes, banned from all your games because of an exploit of one game)
@@Tehn00bA tbh I mean I’m not even sure what the police could do unless they’re cyber stalking or genuinely becoming a danger to another person. But saying these really really horrible things in game is almost never going to have any back lash legality wise because police just have more serious things to worry about. I’d say the biggest punishment they get is what you said, having their entire account banned
Holy shit, Rare is an absolutely vile company for keeping those moderators and PR managers. CLOWNS. My girlfriend and I were actually interested in their game, but now they'll never get a dime from us. Gonna share this callout with our friends.
Im a day 1 player. 3 years ago i got a yellowbeard for alleged stream sniping by a guy named bruno. I had never even heard of the guy prior to fighting him in game but he was sailing with another streamer i had never heard of called burger warrior. Apparently hes a populat streamer in other games. Anyways i got a yellowbeard, when i tried to ask why i got a yellowbeard they refused to answer me and then blocked my ability to submit support tickets. So for the past 3 years whenever I come across a cheater, a racist, etc i just have to deal with it since there is nothing rare will let me do. Whenever i try to bring attention in the forums to big cheating issues or exploits people suggest I write a ticket. As soon as I say I am not allowed to write tickets, the thread is locked and I have been told not to discuss not being able to write support tickets in the future. Gotta love rare
At least TF2 solved the bot problem and a shitload of cheaters. The difference between Rare and Valve is that Valve ignores everything but at least they did something, and Rare doesn't care about cheaters, just ban evaders... (Ban evation is kinda ridiculous tbh)
@@emojilol2562 it's worth for a relaxing time but as for gameplay sucks they give only 30% of the treasures value you can't use your own ship you can't guild meaning you have to sell all like old days I mean I understand we can't do guilds but why not use my own ship makes not sense 🤔

Another prime target for harrasment is any player using the pride flag cosmetic or any pride cosmetics. I fly the rainbow flag on my ship and frequently get all sorts of people yelling loudly on mic about it. It's nowhere here the sexual harassment threats women experience, though.
Corporations will throw in rainbow flags so they can call themselves diverse and inclusive, while standing by and allowing people in their communities to be harassed and threatened and banned just for not being a straight white male. And yet they get praise and pats on the back for being inclusive, just because they put in the bare minimum effort with a handful of cosmetic items; items that actively make you a target for these terrible people that they are doing nothing about. They need to be called out, they can't have it both ways.
I’ve been to SoT Fest 4 times and I can tell you, Rare is a corrupt group of sensitive adult-children that won’t fire the bad employees because they’re all best friends. They ignore feedback about their reddit and discord mods, and the community managers are a nightmare to deal with when you need legitimate help in their discord. The lack of money needed to come back after a ban is why it never gets better for more than a week or two. They let them game share from a banned account to a new account on the same system. If the cheaters needed to buy the game back, it would at least get rid of the 12 year old hackers with no money. Don’t get me started on their “strike team” of bug fixers that they said would be forming like 2 years ago and then radio silence until around 7 months ago when they re-announced forming the team.. which took 7 more months to actually get started. 6 years in and they never had a team dedicated to game stability until now? What an absolute joke! I’ve been playing since alpha 2016 and i’m majorly disappointed in this company 💔
I’m really sorry this is happening to you Ghosty. Hopefully Rare watches this video and actually Gaines an understanding of what’s going on in there game. Keep your head up Ghosty! hope it gets sorted
Yea, Sea of Thieves' Discord server is just like that. They are dismissive, they bully and they also have 'bot'-like community members who will gang up on you for voicing a negative thought about Rare or the game. Hell, even the moderators join in on the shit talking, I've seen it. Their discord is a cell-pool of egotistical, insecure, Moderators and Developers who outrageously ignore and even deny issues in their community and game. It is a shame that such a good game like Sea of Thieves is owned by such a worthless and inadequate company.
The state of the game is insane. I'm thinking of leaving, at least until the cheating problem is solved. This is a flagship game with millions of players. This should not be happening. This game is failing.
Rare needs to do something because they are self destructing, allowing people to feel this unsafe from vile insults and just throwing EAC in and saying “this industry leading anti cheat will stop those cheaters in their tracks” is just not enough! Apex legends and more have this and are still rife with hackers! There’s more to be done for sure and they can’t even acknowledge it for the most basic part. They need to get a grip of this and start doing the right thing! Great video thank you for making this.
pretty much this yeah, a lot of people have been bashing EAC in the comments, and while it's not ideal, it's a tool, and it seems rare really just doesn't know how to use it properly
So funny thing about EAC.... It causes blue screens for win 11 but only for sea if thieves. Do you want to know how to combat this? End the EAC task when in the start menu before launching a ship. That's it. EAC is a joke. It does nothing and can be turned off by anyone.
Rare needs to lock in and double down on addressing the cheater issue. It’s terrible that they don’t listen to their community, but instead go on like nothing is happening. If they truly want to keep this game alive, listening to us needs to become a priority and a necessity.
@@PirateJamm yes they are aware but they should be immediately and urgently addressing this breach of security. This needs to be their FIRST priority rn, above s14 or anything else

Keep in mind that she's on PC where this toxic behavior is more prevalent. On Xbox it's simple to get someone a comm ban for some of the chat shown here. That's why I taunt toxic players in xbox messaging. The toxic players often gove me ammunition that goes against Microsoft's TOS. As far as players avoiding bans by using alt accounts all she jas to do is supply the evidence to Rare. If she has evidence of who the real person is she needs to supply that to Rare as well so that Rare can sue the heck out of that person for harming their game. All that said, if you're tired of the high volume of hackers, come over to console where it's more difficult to hack.
@@ianbelletti6241Hiiiiii, I'm on PlayStation and have previously played on XBOX. Cheaters can spoof their platform to appear as Playstation or XBOX, so it doesn't really matter where you play 🙃
@@ianbelletti6241 I have submitted A LOT of evidence as a PC player and they did nothing. Also not everyone wants to play on console. I hate consoles personally.
@@Threkald you can hate on consoles all you want but we do have some benefits that PC players don't have. Reduced hacking is one of them. Easier times getting player comm bans is another. I continue to play on console only servers because I despise all the hackers on PC. Also, Xbox does allow you to connect mouse and keyboard but you have to play on the PC servers to use them in Sea of Thieves.
@ianbelletti6241 I still don't care?? I hate consoles in any regard. Nothing against the players... I just hate the console. Also in regards to Microdaft banning more people on Xbox... nah fam. They really, truly, don't give a rats ass. Why would it be different just because it's another machine?
It's unbelievable how far Rare have fallen over the last few years. Instead of dealing with vulgar human beings, they instead choose to mute, block, palm off, and ignore issues plaguing their game. "Rare is not the police - if you are being harassed contact your local authorities" is an absolutely insane take and supports everyone's argument on the fact that they genuinely do not care about their player-base. All they're concerned about is the random dude on PS5 who hasn't played since its launch to come back on some Saturday night, purchase $40 worth of ancient coins for some mid-looking ship set, then log out. I'm sorry you're putting up with this, dude. No one deserves this (except maybe the actual degen cheaters).
this is just to far now, im an og player who has seen everything inside of this shitstorm of a game, it really started going down in 2020 after the mega ban wave and players were wrongly banned for "streamsniping" "hacking" and all those things which made the TDM and comp side of the game angry that there accounts that they had spent hours on end playing on trying to max the game out in every way had been banned. and since then, there was literally no stopping, Sea of thieves cheaters since then have unfortunately been one step ahead of them ever since and this issue must stop or sea of thieves is near its last chapter.
I hear you Ghosty. The ticket system is the most inhumane support I've ever had to deal with. Multiple account issues on my side have been ignored and straight up gotten auto responded, never feels like there is a human on the other side. Captaincy didnt work for the longest time and I had no assurance and just had to wait until it gets patched out. I've started to beg in notes to actually speak to a human and its really hard to make the copy-pastes to break. Heck I had something I thought was an issue only to hear two months later on the forums that is how it is. Support staff (if they exist) don't even play the game.
I gave them very detailed reports on what was causing problems and included suggestions on how to fix them, tracking down and debugging the problems for them. They still blew me off and gave me lip service after ignoring the initial post for a week. Developers will never give a shit about the quality of their games if their main source of revenue is meaningless cosmetic shit in the store. Apex devs neglect their game the same way. They know pathetic little nerds will spend inordinate amounts of money to 'look cool' regardless of the problems. SoT has had some of the same bugs for years, even after they claimed to fix them in certain updates. If I buy a storage crate, I still have to go buy random supplies from the shipwright before I can claim the fucking crate. So much for that fix. Still teleporting/rubberbanding since they're too cheap to run an adequate number of servers. Still having supplies in a rowboat disappear into thin air when pulling them into a storage crate unless I take a few things out of the rowboat by hand first. They're fucking incompetent. I can maintain their game better using code snippets from codepen at this point.
How fitting that they implemented safer seas under the guise of only training, instead of what people actually use it for which is as a way to not *have* to endure cheaters and the worst of the community.
I'm at a loss for words. I've been hate raided and have had the same things happen to me on the discord with bots and cheaters putting all kinds of foul things in my chat, far beyond just cheating in game. I'm glad you made this video to bring it to light.
Another major issue, if they have access to sending ban tickets via EAC, EAC is kernel level.. it has more access and permissions in your computer than you have. If EAC is this compromised... what else will come with the elevated permissions? Rare NEEDS to actually look at these issues IMMEDIATELY.
The EAC yellowbeard exploit doesn't give them access to the pc. Also, it's been around in Halo MCC a lot lately, so it's probably a problem with how Microsoft/Rare integrated EAC with the Xbox Live service.
@@MushroomSoT Sure EAC Yellowbeard exploit doesn't give them access... but it's a vulnerability that shows there's security holes. and that's just one of the holes so far. Who's to say what other flaws will be found and what access that will grant. The possibility is not zero. Games should not have kernel level AC. There are other methods. Rare needs to relook at their systems.
@@cassgaming2383 100% and it's just going to get worse unless they fix things. Who's to say what the next security flaw findings unleash into the wild.
I have spent MANY hours rooting out cheaters and reporting them. I have had a 100% rate of removing toxic players with proof. I have had a 50% success rate with hackers/cheaters. The process is tedious, time-consuming, and irritating that we must police the seas. But we continue on.
@Ivoler239 and @FlyingPanda150 No, I am wasting their limited time and I enjoy doing it. I imagine what sad and pathetic lives they live. That is 20 minutes they will never get back. It rocks my world.
I am a console player and don’t see many cheaters, though within the last 6 months or so- almost anytime I go onto PC servers I am instantly DDOS’d. And am left unable to play for multiple hours on end. This is getting out of control.
We can ban "problematic" streamers for ban evasion but can't ban actual harassment and blatant cheaters. Classic Rare great job guys really putting in work with that moderation system
came from toxie's stream to make a comment as a person in the OCE servers and have seen the harrassment first hand its ridiculous i am scared to start streaming this game for myself even though i absolutely love this game because of these cheaters and their harrasment of the community i still remember me at one point after doing hourglass encountering cheaters spending a bit of time reporting those cheaters only to come back to the game to see multiple cheaters on my own boat start spamming the n word harrassing me and my friend while we were doing nothing the continued ignorance to these problems is ridiculous i love this game and i have both of the hourglass curses i wanna keep playing this game for years but the cheaters especially in the OCE servers i play in are too much for me to even play in my own natural servers anymore even then still encountering cheaters
All they had to do was change Safe Seas. Put everything from High Seas except pvp in safe seas. Like literally Safe Seas is their greatest anti-cheat system
I fear for the launch of Season 14. I have a feeling this was just a test run and they are gonna sit on their hands till Season 14 and then mass yellowbeard every SoT Partner, popular streamer and well known player of the game. I know cheaters aren’t that smart but whoever was able to breach into Rare’s ability to ban takes some serious hacking skills and that guy might be a hacker with some brain cells
ya know, I almost hope this is the case, not because I want it to happen, but because then rare might FINALLY do something, because I was just checking for a bug bounty program, and at best there's the Xbox which for the highest vulnerability is 20,000, which is great, or the cheat devs could make that in a week of selling cheat programs. and that's assuming Microsoft/Xbox would consider it in scope
The sad thing about rare is that it’s literally been shown before that Rare doesn’t care about the community. They’d rather just do damage control on a major incident then do something preventative, it’s already happened several times with probably the most recent one being what happened with Theb. They just pretend that the problem doesn’t exist until it becomes an issue big enough to hurt the game’s reputation (and even then sometimes they don’t such as with the cheating issue) and then ban/unban a bunch of accounts and call it a day. I love this game and I wish rare would actually do something about the problems with it rather than just push it under the rug and pretend nothing is wrong.
They can add any anticheat in this world, but the reality is that until they do not validate RPCs and the gamestate at server side we will continue to see this mess.

I don't understand how during all those years in development noone brought up basic client-server concepts like "never trust the client"...
I was sad at at first when I realized I had a trip planned that weekend but I was also happy I didn’t partake because of the trip. I heard it was absolute cancer.
I got banned on the sot forums for talking about cheating back in 2020 and was told by their community that THEY HAD ONLY SEEN 1 CHEATER DURING (INSERT THOUSANDS OF HOURS OF PLAYTIME HERE). I did not fit in there as I spoke the truth.
Absolutely no clue what this has to do with the video but that’s so real. In destiny you can put “women of destiny” in the group option and you’ll only get men
@LordToastTheGreat being on a female ingame av, even with mic off, sets you up for harassment like shown by Ghosty in the video. That's why it's relevant.
In my opinion it is terrible that they straight up ignore all of the problems with cheaters, and continue to release new reskinned items that are only obtainable by purchasing in-game value. From my point of view Rare just wants money, and thats all. I trully am in solidarity with what Ghosty said at the end, because im also a part of the community. SOT was never like this, for example in the beggining of my voyage, I rarely met any cheaters, I'd say none. But now... They are practically everywhere, even in the PVE experience. I feel perplexed, because of how one of your most favourite game fully ignores its own "death", I'd say. However, I do really hope, that Rare will open their eyes very wide , and look on their game.
I managed to get onto this target list myself after I, regrettably, let out my thoughts over voice-chat after being cheated against. Couple weeks later I was informed I could contact the administrators/owners of the athenaware program and get myself removed from it. I did this and they actually did remove me and they also made it so I cannot be added back. Might be an idea for those who also end up on it too.. Good coverage on the issue as well. I feel sorry you and others had to endure such behaviour.
Amazing video that highlights the problem with cheaters in OCE, as well as the harassment players (women in particular) face in SoT - Rare must address this issue NOW! Fantastic work ghosty!
I feel so unheard and ignored because I’ve dealt with cheaters and extremely toxic players. Someone I decided to play with to get hourglsss rep up started to harass me and spam report me.. and now I can’t play sot or any xbox multiplayer game until October 11th.. and Microsoft wouldn’t listen to me even after I tried to appeal.. if I never played sot I wouldn’t be in this problem.
I could not imagine getting timed out, or banned from a game that I've spent so much time (and money...) into without having done anything wrong. I would have reacted the same way to that grandpabeard... What shocked me was you being totally silenced like that. I, personally, have never had any issue with the team at Rare, so to see this, I'm quite shocked.
And people wonder why a bunch of us players want a proper offline/private/PvE only mode without nerfed gold and rep. It's the cheaters. It's why I play the game like a stealth game. People can make all the "be more pirate, it's not called sea of friends" rhetoric all they want. Doesn't change the fact SoT, both in design and anti-cheat, is a toxic troll paradise where ruining the fun of others is part of the design.
I still play high seas, but I play the same way. Try to play stealth or hang out in Devil's Roar if I'm running Emissary. Though with cheaters even DR isn't as much a guarantee of safety as it used to be
I understand the issue with cheaters however, a pve mode without any PvP and no reduced gold would absaloutly decimate the risk Vs reward ratio of the game.
@@PlebNCFor everybody. The whole game would end. The more you separate the player base of a game, the quicker it dies and increases the risk of dying. No game does that nor wants it.
I've never understood the reason for cheating and being toxic like this. Do they think they're funny or something? I usually just waste their time running and being annoying, laugh at them for being that much of a degenerate, clip them and submit a ticket (even tho it's worthless). I'm not a woman so I haven't ran into this issue but it's awful to see that it happens and I really hope that one day there will be actual action taken.
This is why cross compatibility between consoles and PC players Is the dumbest idea ever, not only from PC players already having a edge over console players but once you add in all the hacks and exploits they use then console players never stand a chance, thankfully I have the best of both worlds with both a console and a PC, so I can confidently say PC players will always have an unfair advantage over console players 🤷♂️🤦♂️🫤 but hey, as long as the companies make money they don’t care what happens in their communities 👌
What unfair advantage do you confidently say PC players have over Console players? I'm genuinely intrigued. For PC gamers you can't just buy a game and expect it to run smoothly you have to take into account everything about your machine, the cpu, the gpu, the resolution, the hard drive space, the ram etc. Console players can just turn on the console and load a game and play it. Now, you can use a keyboard and mouse on the console and PC players can use a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse. I say it's alot harder for PC gamers and requires more skill to get/keep games running smoothly. Also, these cheaters are on console servers just not very prominent but they will be.
I'm incredibly sorry this has happened to you, when I play of SOT I might be a toxic sometimes but I'm never Sexist or racist I know the limits this is just disgusting and I'm 100% against what these disgusting players have done you have more than earned a new supporter keep up the great content!
Everyone knows rare can’t do anything quick, especially on how their game is build on blueprints instead of solid code. This makes problems hard to fix without breaking Atleast 20 other things. They also are still running on unreal engine 5. While this is a community problem, it is also a game issue that is going to take a lot of time to fix. I don’t think spamming them with requests was the right thing to do as there isn’t much they can do at this point in time. Later on I’ll bet there is a giant ban wave and another wipe of cheaters for Atleast a week before they’re back. But to be honest you can’t implement a anticheat this late into the games development and expect it to work well.
This is why I’ve been using non-cross play on Xbox. It’s unfortunate that others can’t have this option but if rare makes either better anti cheat or finds a way to get rid of cheaters entirely then hooray
doing this because some streamers used their credibility and being a sea of thieves partner to ban innocent players just bc they "streamers" were trash at the game and wouldn't accept it, just bc they sank by the others, called them stream sniper and such things. They deserve this.
Ive seen videos of people getting banned over and over by rare again and again, for stopping alliance servers, and then people threating sexual assault on a game with many kids in the playerbase get off completely free.
It's crazy how often developers respond to their games being plagued by hackers and cheaters by making the game worse for people who just want to play the game, while having little to no effect on the actual source of the problem. And then lashing out against the people who are actually a legitimate part of the game/community, as if they are working with the hackers to help drive people away from their game entirely. It's like they crave failure. The most toxic worst part of the community is always wrapped around the community manager's and developer's fingers, while the people who genuinely care about the game and just want to have fun always have isolated communities that have little to no contact with the developers or official communities at all. Mostly because they get banned from the official communities simply for wanting the game to be better than it is.
They don’t take reports seriously, like ever. It’s absurd, and disheartening. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten clips of offending players using exploits/cheats or gamer words that they kick it back with “oh we can’t do anything about this” despite the proof :) getting really tired of the bull they’re pulling. And let’s not even think about how season 14 is gonna go… I’m not excited for it.
How to fix cheating problems: 1. Make Hourglass a purely stat game, all cosmetics can now be unlocked outside of hourglass. 2. Increase safer seas payout from 10% to 40-60% 3. Retract EAC and impliment a more robust GM/reporting staff
Rare is too busy picking berries and making Deer art, to actually do some work. We haven't gotten "New" content in forever so we wouldn't mind them ACTUALLY getting a better anticheat and figure out where their source code leak is for athenaware.
I once had a combat with a cheater on an outpost, i kept spawning in the tavern and as soon as i left it he would snipe me from the sky, he was able to fly and give 360 no scopes with the sniper. after 5 minutes or so i told him i only wanted to fish and he said "ok sorry i am leaving", it was a strange experience
Adding a comment to help boost signal. I just started streaming Sea, though I've been playing since launch, and this is troubling. I'd like Rare to actually do something to address these issues. I love this game, I love our community, and the cheating and harassment by or towards anyone is unacceptable.
FFXIV has the best moderation system I've ever seen. You can report an incident and living people review footage and text logs and make a decision based on the replays, and they're HARD on people bullying and being horrible. You can also mute people. I honestly think that practice should be standard in all multiplayer online games...
rare is so far from even pretending to care at this point that its just laughable. i feel sick for all the fem sot players and especially content creators that get targeted and blatantly harassed in this game. i dont think ill be in any rush to log on anytime soon
this is something nearly every game company gets wrong. Its the way to build reputation. Instead of being honest about their mistakes and issues, they instead focus on hiding the problem and not actually fixing it. Just tell the players what's going on internally, players will understand as it has been proven with other games and companies. Wooting have told everyone their mistake with the 80HE and what exactly is going on, and look at their reputation. Deadlock is also really open in comparison to cs2, and the difference is insane. Being honest is really important and yet these large companies don't seem to get that.
I didn't feel like this was much of a personal problem for me because I hadn't seen cheaters much recently. That was until today that I had a cheater repeatedly teleport into my cannons harrassing me and he asked me if I wanted to be put on a list of "females". My god it's awful. Rare seriously need to adress this. And the ban exploit was beyond serious, even still after they addressed it, that doesn't take away from how serious it was.
i'm just going to uninstall and leave a negative review on steam until they address this issue, their community managers are completely out of line and this whole situation has gone on long enough, i don't even feel safe enough to boot this up with friends anymore at this point
i don't know anything about sea of thieves and aren't sure why yt recommended this video to me, but this really sucks. i hope rare listen to this, but based on every other company's track record on these things i would be surprised if they do :( best of luck, was a great and informative video despite the terrible things those cheaters are doing
I do not justify cheating at all but I will try to provide some clarity to how many game companies tend to cheaters. If Rare is actively tackling the cheaters they are not likely to ban them one by one, many companies tend to make lists of the cheaters and do a mass ban. Doing it this way keeps the cheaters from thinking that they are being watched allowing them to become more comfortable with using cheats making it easier to spot who is actually cheating. This also keeps the cheaters from having a handle on how the game company is dealing with the situation making it harder for cheaters to hide the cheat software as the way of dealing with each batch may need different tactics. I despise seeing a non-cheater get banned for no reason and that is definitely a problem but I can assure you that Rare are very likely to be doing something, it'll probably just take a little time.
In my opinion you shouldn’t have to do this but you can lookup how to contact Brett jenks who is the ceo of rare and you might be able to get a response I’m just giving ideas to try and help so sorry if this message hits the wrong way ❤
that's insanity
Wtf
Rare's decision to use easy anti cheat in the first place was questionable, its literally considered the worst anti cheat in the industry.
The reason it's called "Easy Anti-cheat" is because it's easy to bypass
They would rather give players $10,000 golden skulls and banannas.
Guessing you’ve never played COD Ricochet anticheat is terrible far worse cheating problem in cod than sot. also pretty much every game is flooded with cheaters in 2024 gaming isn’t fun anymore devs don’t care enough to fix the problem they’re still getting paid either way

They’re being defensive all day and they celebrate themselves between 4-5 mods only. The energy is just disgusting in there. The sea of thieves discord mods have the biggest egos
Yep, the worst discord there is and all thanks to the mods.
It is exactly as bad as dinosaur pvp community servers.
The cheating situation is wild and the incompetence and ignorance of the community management team leaves me speechless.
Its genuinely sad to see Rare is abundantly aware of their cheater issues, and instead of fixing it in any capacity, they ban, ignore, or silence the people who just want to enjoy their game. I don't think I've ever seen a company that supports the people destroying their game more than Rare.

So for the past 3 years whenever I come across a cheater, a racist, etc i just have to deal with it since there is nothing rare will let me do. Rare: ...
This is a really good point. Rare is motivated by money so its win for the community & Rare.

Rare needs to lock in and double down on addressing the cheater issue. It’s terrible that they don’t listen to their community, but instead go on like nothing is happening. If they truly want to keep this game alive, listening to us needs to become a priority and a necessity.

That's why I taunt toxic players in xbox messaging. The toxic players often gove me ammunition that goes against Microsoft's TOS. As far as players avoiding bans by using alt accounts all she jas to do is supply the evidence to Rare. If she has evidence of who the real person is she needs to supply that to Rare as well so that Rare can sue the heck out of that person for harming their game. this is just to far now, im an og player who has seen everything inside of this shitstorm of a game, it really started going down in 2020 after the mega ban wave and players were wrongly banned for "streamsniping" "hacking" and all those things which made the TDM and comp side of the game angry that there accounts that they had spent hours on end playing on trying to max the game out in every way had been banned. and since then, there was literally no stopping, Sea of thieves cheaters since then have unfortunately been one step ahead of them ever since and this issue must stop or sea of thieves is near its last chapter.

Also, it's been around in Halo MCC a lot lately, so it's probably a problem with how Microsoft/Rare integrated EAC with the Xbox Live service.

i still remember me at one point after doing hourglass encountering cheaters spending a bit of time reporting those cheaters only to come back to the game to see multiple cheaters on my own boat start spamming the n word harrassing me and my friend while we were doing nothing
the continued ignorance to these problems is ridiculous
i love this game and i have both of the hourglass curses
i wanna keep playing this game for years
but the cheaters especially in the OCE servers i play in are too much for me to even play in my own natural servers anymore even then still encountering cheaters
I know cheaters aren’t that smart but whoever was able to breach into Rare’s ability to ban takes some serious hacking skills and that guy might be a hacker with some brain cells
ya know, I almost hope this is the case, not because I want it to happen, but because then rare might FINALLY do something, because I was just checking for a bug bounty program, and at best there's the Xbox which for the highest vulnerability is 20,000, which is great, or the cheat devs could make that in a week of selling cheat programs. and that's assuming Microsoft/Xbox would consider it in scope
the people who use cheats aren't necessarily smart, but it's usually different when it comes to those who make the cheats
Is Theb still pursuing the lawsuit?
@AronFigaro I didn't even know he was doing a lawsuit so idk
rare when their game is overrun with cheaters that do whatever they can to harass everyone (and then ban theb instead)
They can add any anticheat in this world, but the reality is that until they do not validate RPCs and the gamestate at server side we will continue to see this mess.
I don't understand how during all those years in development noone brought up basic client-server concepts like "never trust the client"...
Blueprints are evil
Fight Night was ruined by the cheaters. We only won 1 of the 2 legitimate fights we got to have in 5 hours of playing.
I was sad at at first when I realized I had a trip planned that weekend but I was also happy I didn’t partake because of the trip. I heard it was absolute cancer.
@@ChandlerDaughtry Yeah it really wasn’t fun. It made one of my friends give up on hourglass for good. :/
As a female in Sea of Thieves I can't even stand afk without a sussy teammate coming and... you know 💀💀💀
Absolutely no clue what this has to do with the video but that’s so real. In destiny you can put “women of destiny” in the group option and you’ll only get men
Yeah I don't use open crew for a reason. Rarely play solo either
@LordToastTheGreat being on a female ingame av, even with mic off, sets you up for harassment like shown by Ghosty in the video. That's why it's relevant.
@@LordToastTheGreat it's probably a bot
Shoot, man, I don't realize how bad the state of sea of thieves was in. It sad to see this game go to crap. Unfortunate😕
The only absurd thing is the way these "people" ignore crucial problems, that's just embarrassing and childish.
Amazing video that highlights the problem with cheaters in OCE, as well as the harassment players (women in particular) face in SoT - Rare must address this issue NOW! Fantastic work ghosty!
So disappointed in rare, sea of thieves deserved better
Though with cheaters even DR isn't as much a guarantee of safety as it used to be
"a proper offline/private/PvE only mode without nerfed gold and rep" would end the game.
I understand the issue with cheaters however, a pve mode without any PvP and no reduced gold would absaloutly decimate the risk Vs reward ratio of the game.
@@Flamegardz For PvP sweats maybe. They'd have to fight only good PvP players and cheaters if the PvE players left High Seas.
@@PlebNCFor everybody.
The whole game would end. The more you separate the player base of a game, the quicker it dies and increases the risk of dying.
No game does that nor wants it.
imagine sea of thieves seeing this video and going "oh, well, anyways"
I'm incredibly sorry this has happened to you, when I play of SOT I might be a toxic sometimes but I'm never Sexist or racist I know the limits this is just disgusting and I'm 100% against what these disgusting players have done
you have more than earned a new supporter keep up the great content!
Rare will be needing 7 business days to process
SOT has become the new TF2
Every time i want to try to get back into this game, there is a new wave of cheaters. Fuckin hell, Rare.
I love that the theb clip has become the holy texts of the sot community
They don’t take reports seriously, like ever. It’s absurd, and disheartening. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten clips of offending players using exploits/cheats or gamer words that they kick it back with “oh we can’t do anything about this” despite the proof :) getting really tired of the bull they’re pulling. And let’s not even think about how season 14 is gonna go… I’m not excited for it.
Great job on the video Ghosty. I hope it brings more awareness to what's going on so things can change
How to fix cheating problems:
1. Make Hourglass a purely stat game, all cosmetics can now be unlocked outside of hourglass.
2. Increase safer seas payout from 10% to 40-60%
3. Retract EAC and impliment a more robust GM/reporting staff
The harassment is so immature and brain dead. Please may they put an end to this nonsense
Rare is too busy picking berries and making Deer art, to actually do some work. We haven't gotten "New" content in forever so we wouldn't mind them ACTUALLY getting a better anticheat and figure out where their source code leak is for athenaware.
I once had a combat with a cheater on an outpost, i kept spawning in the tavern and as soon as i left it he would snipe me from the sky, he was able to fly and give 360 no scopes with the sniper. after 5 minutes or so i told him i only wanted to fish and he said "ok sorry i am leaving", it was a strange experience
publish this everywhere guys.!! let them hear OUR VOICE.!!!
Adding a comment to help boost signal. I just started streaming Sea, though I've been playing since launch, and this is troubling. I'd like Rare to actually do something to address these issues. I love this game, I love our community, and the cheating and harassment by or towards anyone is unacceptable.
This is why, as a woman, I will continue to play console only. These dudes are insane and I'm all set with their athenaware.
Lets make this video go viral so everybody is getting aware of this massive problem
FFXIV has the best moderation system I've ever seen. You can report an incident and living people review footage and text logs and make a decision based on the replays, and they're HARD on people bullying and being horrible. You can also mute people. I honestly think that practice should be standard in all multiplayer online games...
Tf2 players: First time?
rare is so far from even pretending to care at this point that its just laughable. i feel sick for all the fem sot players and especially content creators that get targeted and blatantly harassed in this game. i dont think ill be in any rush to log on anytime soon
Amazing video that highlights the massive issues in this game! so good ghosty!!
Player/CC "Hey rare, here's some problems, please fix them"
Rare: "It's not a problem if you SHUT UP about it"
they are too busy trying to ban pvp streamers who fight cheaters than the cheaters themselves
this is something nearly every game company gets wrong.
The fact the cheating programs offer so many features besides just aim and walls. Is clearly a failure of Rare. They need to patch them out.
Used xbox or ps5 with no crossplay and console players with controllers
I’d say what I want about cheaters, but that would violate the TOS for hate speech. Just know that I hope this problem is fixed ASAP.
i don't know anything about sea of thieves and aren't sure why yt recommended this video to me, but this really sucks. i hope rare listen to this, but based on every other company's track record on these things i would be surprised if they do :(
best of luck, was a great and informative video despite the terrible things those cheaters are doing
