  • In this video, we'll explore how to get full controll over any hardware or software synthesizer from your Model: Samples or Cycles. You can even control a synth on your smartphone or tablet. This is exactly what I'll show you here - including all the settings you need, and a live demo.
    In this specific setup, we're using Poison 202, controlling it, tweaking the parameters straight from the M:S, and feeding the audio back via USB with zero to no latency.
    Time stamps:
    00:50 MIDI settings on the Model: Samples
    02:15 Audio & MIDI settings on the Poison 202 synthesizer
    03:06 Using MIDI learn to control Posion 202 parameters with M:S knobs
    03:20 Setup demonstration
    05:28 Audio over USB
    06:23 Pattern locking Filter Cutoff on Poison 202 without actual MIDI CC.
    09:29 How to control a synthesizer in your DAW using the Model Samples.

      Glad you find it useful! Also, howstuffworks dot com has some good explanations if you search for midi :) But in my understanding, it's a sort of protocol, a technical standard and technology that allows music (and even VJ) equipment to communicate with each other, sending signals back and forth. Old, reliable, brilliant, and a staple technology in the stack, if you will. :D

      @@SnaptoGrid Yeah I understand why we have it and what it does. My issue is learning how to program the cc etc...
      I just need to start using what I have and figure it out like everyone else has done!
      I'm always looking for a shortcut!

    • @SnaptoGrid
      @SnaptoGrid  2 года назад +1

      I see. The manufacturers/developers tend to assign particular cc values to certain parameters. It’s usually in the documentation. I find it varies quite a bit in terms of what is assigned to what.
      Also, there are apps that can monitor midi signals and show what cc value is being sent. Super handy!

    I do something similar inside VCV Rack to basically turn my M:S into a modular controller. Build some drum loops. Resample onto the elektron, and then you have 5 Mono synths at your disposal in eurorack format

    hey i have a question, i would like to use the model samples together with the new roland j-6 chord synth - do you think it is possible to have the j-6's audio in the model sample over usb same as the ipad ?

    • @SnaptoGrid
      @SnaptoGrid  Год назад

      Interesting question. I think this depends on whether the J-6 has audio out over USB. I would check the manual to be sure..but since it’s purely digital AFAIK, I’d be shocked if this was not possible!

    • @SnaptoGrid

      Yes, the synth signal should get summed and come out of the MS output. The synth obviously needs to send audio to MS over the USB tho.

    should the audio track play together with the midi track turned on? how to turn off the audio track to play only midi track?

    • @SnaptoGrid

      On MS yes, it can be both. Then just unload the sample.
      On Digi, it is either audio or MIDI

    • @SnaptoGrid

      T6 on Digi? This is an audio track. You can just mute it in Mute mode or turn its volume down or even turn it down in the mixer

  • @tentontarantula7750
    @tentontarantula7750 Год назад

    So does the audio from iOS pass back through the MC? And you're playing the other tracks on MC as normal? Will the nobs mapped to the iOS synth only be engaged when you're on track 6, but still function as normal to shape sound on the MC when other tracks are selected? Cheers!

    • @SnaptoGrid
      @SnaptoGrid  Год назад +1

      Yes, it will. And yes, all with all the other tracks, the knobs respond accordingly. Yea, you have to manually MIDI map then to your iOS instrument on which ever channel is controlling said instrument.

      With Apple Camera Connection kit, using the Elektron USB lead. Then, enable a MIDI channel and go from there. Also, the Digi will need to be in audio/midi mode, not in Overbridge mode.
