- First serious run with the HikMicro Alpex 4K day/night infra-red scope.
The plan is to spend a couple of hours on the rabbits with the Air rifle and then chase some foxes with the Sako .223 topped with the Thunder TQ50 V2.0
The new 4K boasts an incredible clear HD image and benefits the user with a built in 1000m laser rangefinder plus ballistic calculator. Need ing to know your bullet drop and holdover is quickly becoming a thing of the past.
The property I'm shooting tonight has a variety of terrain from dense patches of trees to open pasture, grazing land and several dams. Plenty of rabbits about and there should be no shortage of young foxes as pupping finished a few months ago. Both of which are an introduced pest in Australia and property owners have a responsibility to manage them.
Please keep in mind that I'm not out hunting for food, this is purely pest control. I am contracted to cull as many of these invasive animals as possible during the course of the evening.
My air rifle setup is an FX Impact M3 chambered in .22 cal, 600mm barrel, Vipertek suppressor and Saber tactical area swiss rail, shooting Cometa 18.13gr pellets @ 900fps. Both rifles are suppressed and I hold the necessary permits for them in NSW.
All of my shooting is done from a Bexin ST424C carbon tripod and Sirui K30X ball head to area swims mount.
Thanks for taking the time out to support the channel and watch the video.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could give it a thumbs up, sunrise to the channel and don't forget to click that bell icon. - Развлечения
Simply excellent.
The 4k scope looks perfect.
Great foxing too.
What a great night .
Certainly was mate. Thankyou 👌
That was a lot of rabbits and foxes to have in one area. Those foxes never got the chance to learn to keep away from humans with guns. Great work. Greetings from Central West NSW.
Thanks David. Hardly a challenge with those young ones 👌
Great shooting as usual. I’ll have to give it another look I didn’t get enough the first time around. 😮😊
The mire times the merrier mate. 👌😉
Great shooting and those fox numbers were phenomenal. Good to see you back this year.
Cheers buddy. Big plans for this year. Just gotta pull my finger out and edit all the content 😉
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Yeah, it's those tiny details that get you, isn't it? 😁
As always Outstanding shooting
And beautiful graphics. Thanks.
Cheers buddy 👍
Foxes must not like rabbit with all you harvested. Thanks for taking us along. Stay safe and keep your air bottle full!

Brilliant clean humane despatches 👍
Thanks champion 👊
Funny, I sit here watching your video in my Lazyboy rocker recliner and for some stupid reason I think I have to stop rocking so you can make the shot hahaha
Haha. Whatever works mate.
Appreciate you watching 👊
Those weapons you've got are top shelf Rod, the .223 is whisper quiet when saying g'day!😀
G'day Rod, that sure is a serious scope, those rabbits & foxes never stood a chance. It is fantastic seeing rid our agricultural land of these vermin, thus giving a our native wildlife a bit better chance of survivng. Keep up the good work and these top videos coming.
Really appreciate that Trevor. Thanks mate 👊
Cracking night out, accurate shooting as always.👍👍🇬🇧
Thanks champion 👊
The old.223 never fails to impress. I really miss mine. Cheers again mate for another great video!!!
Old faithful is the most versatile rifle I own mate. Love it 😉
Rod, mate, another great video, well done, just never long enough! Haha!
That image from the new scope was pretty amazing, to say the least.
Would love to see the new scope being used on your 308 on a pig cull.
Cheers,
PS, subscribed and thumbs up too!
Bloody legend, thankyou.
If i get the chance to chase some pigs on shorter feed areas I'll be keen as to give the Infra-red gear a run mate. 🤞
Awesome Rod!👏
Cheers David 🍻
The view finder is so clear and sharp, you could shoot a flying ant with that thing mate.
I was tempted. 😅
Bunny's like Tim Tam's. Ripper bunny blaster 😂 brilliant.
Good fun too mate. 😎
Top notch video due to top notch equipment. Great video. Worthy of support. Absolutely a cut above the rest of the pack. Thank you for posting!
Appreciate the support.. Thank you mate 👊
Love it when you oi them, and the foxes sit down, look at you, and wait for the end... Nice video Rod.
Thanks champion 👊
A lot of fresh rabbit stew, pies and crumbed pieces there tonight. 👍🇦🇺
Kentucky Fried rabbit 😎
Unfortunately this was purely a pest control gig mate. No time for harvesting
Good on you mate. Top job with top gear and shooting cobber.🤠
Cheers Daryl 👌
Mate the fx is a machine mate never thought I would see the day an air rifle could do that and well the foxes never stood a chance great display of marksmanship mate cheers keep up the good work

Bạn bắn súng giỏi tuyệt vời. Mỗi phát là một con. Chúc bạn An Lành nhé..🇦🇺✋.
Thanks buddy 👊
Great job. The Alpex looks great even at 14x mag. Do you rate it over the Pard? Cheers 👍
It's amazing mate. Can't wait to get my hands on the final product 👊
It's certainly piqued my interest!
How cruel….
How do you live with yourself.
How about leaving some foxes for others to shoot.
Epic shooting Rodney.
Got a mate keen on the alpex. Shared your video.
What a unit.
Puts my pard to shame.
Onya mate
🤣 thanks champion. 👌
Excellent shooting Rodney, I saw just the one dog fox last night, so I'll have a go at him tonight, might be a bit nippy, with snow on the ground 🤓
Good luck mate. Rug up and keep warm yeah. 👌
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Gday, well it wasn't as cold, as was expected, but I did get the troublesome dog fox, and his girlfriend, both within 30m🤓🦊🦊
Excellent result mate 👏
Gotta ask…..
Is there a competition in who can have the most elaborate looking rifle? 😂 Takes me back to my days playing with Mecano.
Lol. High tech gear looks extravagant but certainly gets the job done. 😉
@@RJMHuntingAustralia It'd wanna get the job done. No such thing as overkill, but definitely won't risk underkill.
That was a clear picture in the scope
Yeah. Very impressed with it Randy 👌
Geez there was a lot of foxes😮
Put a fair dent them. Young and dumb. 👌
Ở vùng bạn sống, Thú hoang rất nhiều. Thỏ hoang khiếp quá nhiều ghê..Hi 🇦🇺👍.
More than enough to keep me busy mate
Another great vid! Thanks for posting, always really enjoyable and there's always something to learn. Nice shooting.
BTW, Can I ask what rest you carry for your rifles?
Thanks champ. 99% of my shooting is done off a tripod.
My go to is a Bexin ST424C carbon with Sirui K30x ball head mounted to an arca swiss plate on the rile. 😎
Yes OK thanks, that's great info and I appreciate it highly. Saves me doing pricey trial and error research!
I've currently got my Thermion 2 XP50 Pro mounted on my Winchester Model 70 Featherweight (.243). I wont be drilling holes into the fore-end for the arca swiss plate so I'll have to have a think about this.
Thanks again, stay zeroed mate. @@RJMHuntingAustralia

Cheers mate
If anybody ever films a thylacine in mainland Australia, I get the feeling it will be through a rifle scope.
thanks mate for another great vid, i have the Hicmirco on order can you tell me what IR light you where using in this vid.
thanks
Details in the description.
Sirius XLT IR Laser
Great shooting, that new 4k looks great. Seriously you can see the blood splatter mist from the shots at 2:34 mark.
What do you call in the foxes with? What have you found works best?
I run various whistles and squeakers mate. Depends on what's working on the night.
Hi there down under, top video as ever ;-)
Question; what is the brand and type of laser iluminator you are using, did't caught that in the video...
Thanks and till the next, cheers.
It's a Sirius XLT mate
Good work Rodney.
Is that nice 4k scope a next-level price as well....?
Not at all mate. They will retail for under 2k au 👌
Pick for me is scope on fox set up unrealistic cross hairs love it .
Yeah. Next level Brett
@@RJMHuntingAustralia yep it is unreal gear scope on 223 shit get another put on bunny blaster lol 😂 it is the pick of scopes outa 2 of them.
I have another just to share the love. 😉
@@RJMHuntingAustralia well if I get the 💯 million Thursday I will get 5 for ya. Lol 😂.
🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Rodney, quick question, are foxes tails usually that medium to light grey in the thermal (when using white hot) rather than white of the body indicating that the tail is bushy and giving off some heat?
That's generally the case mate.
More insulated with less flesh thus generally looks cooler and almost fluffy in appearance through thermal
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Thanks mate for spending the time getting back to me. 👍
No problem at all buddy 👍
Nice shootin' Tex. Is it just me, or are you actually getting better at this?
Haha. As long as I'm not getting worse mate. 👌
You should rename the video “ easters cancelled “. Awesome
The last supper 😉
@@RJMHuntingAustralia 😆
Great vid, thank you. I can't believe how many Foxes. What would you estimate the m2 area you covered, please?
About 1000 acres all up mate
Didn't stand a flying eyeballs chance
Awesone gear combined with a tad of marksmanship is bloody lethal Ian.
Another great video Rod. Your equipment must cost a fortune.
Fortunately its all a tax deduction David. That's what I keep telling the wife anyway 😅
How does the saying go Rod?
"My greatest fear in life is if I pass away and my wife sells my toys for what I told her I paid for them" 😅
Absolutely 😉
Keep your wife happy Rod. I found out the hard way that divorce is the greatest wealth distribution device known to man. And I'm an Accountant.
I think most of us have been down that slippery slope at least once buddy.
Live and learn as they say 🤦♂️
great video mate.
Thank you
Hey Rod,
I missed the model of your bolt-on illumination on the FX. What’s the model of the light please?
Sirius XLT ir laser mate
Do most of the property owners want you to pile the animals up so that they can see your handiwork/make disposal of them remains easier or are they mostly happy to leave them where they lay?
It really varies mate. Most of my regulars are more than happy for me to drop and leave in situ. Others like the critters collected fir disposal as you said. I personally prefer to collect them and show off the results as a sign of good faith and professionalism.
What scope mount you running on the Alpex 4K
I'm using the Australian made Porter Machine Works uni mount mate.
From Canada, what do you do with the foxes and rabbits? Keep up the good hunting.
Purely a pest control contract mate. Generally collected for disposal depending on the property
where can I get the IR?
What brand is it?
good job
Sirius XLT ir laser mate.
Not sure where they're sold
Howdy..just randomly curious whats a rough roundabout of what farmers pay to hire your services..cheers
Not something I generally discuss online mate
Cool beans I understand totally
Nice shooting mate are you able to give the exact details of the scope and the ir light please
Thanks.
I assume you're referring to the Nightvision scope used on the rabbits.
•HikMicro Alpex 4k
•Sirius XLT ir laser
Yes mate the night vision scope from Hikmicro just checking to see which model it was. I’m guessing it’s was the A50EL not the A50e. Thanks
Its a flash rig.
Thanks mate 👌
Yep ripper video.
Thanks dude 👊
@@RJMHuntingAustralia your a true pro job well done.good to see the red turds get a good touch up.
I have a question on the subject moderators on air guns law in Australia ?
I live in NSW and to have a moderator on any rifle you need a prohibited weapons permit mate
@@RJMHuntingAustralia I have another question to ask you is there many people who are in a wheelchair and can do air rifle shooting. I am learning all I can about air rifles and the laws and refillations because i've always had a interest in air rifle and pest control it's something I can do and if I concentrate on something like air rifle shooting it would help me with my pain I head many surgeries. Will gun clubs in Bairnsdale can help me with getting into air rifle and getting my license I don't have mental issues I am quite smart
I have no idea how many wheelchair shooters there are mate.
Something you'll definitely have to ask your local gun club and maybe discuss with the Firearms registry in your state
great watch but us with color blindness can't see the red reticle
That's gotta suck. Sorry mate 🤔
Excelente video muy profesional junto con tu canal de RUclips. Ami me gustaría tener una mira telescopica igual ,me la patrocinas para hacer videos así. ( Es broma se que no son muy caras😢😢)
Thanks William. Glad you enjoyed it mate 👍
Im soooo disappointed, NO KFC!. lift ya game!
Apparently a side effect of KFC is getting chubby. Wouldn't want that now would I. 🤔🤣🤣🤣
Nope, getiin bogged in boots is embarrassing!@@RJMHuntingAustralia
🤣
Foxes predate rabbits if their are high enough numbers
And both are non native introduced pests, both have to go.
Plenty of food sources to keep the foxes fed mate. They hardly impact the rabbit population at all.
