Wonderful version of the song. If I may further break down the time stamps: 0:00 = Hatred (Hell) 4:38 = Confusion (Purgatory) 8:13 = Lunacy (Heaven) 11:32 = Dancing Mad (God) 11:56 = Madness 13:26 = Prayer 14:29 = Insanity 16:00 = Liberation
I'm addicted to movement 2, it was such a cool and unique take on it, the choir jumping between notes made it seem like they were laughing. Truly a movement of madness, keep up the amazing work!
My WORD, the laugh scared the hell out of me; it's PERFECT! This whole arrangement is perfect! Leans into just the right parts and doesn't do anything unnecessary while still adding some amazing new things!
First of all I super applaud what's going on here! Everyone has an opinion about the perfect Dancing Mad. I would love if the bit between 10 and 11 was more true harpsichord sound, but dude the movement 4 transition was spotless. It'd be tough for a real choir to sing those notes so tight, but that snare roll with the marimbas was really nice, and the pizzicato before the finale was super on point. Would love to hear this arrangement backed by real singers... it would be even more of a banger. If you could get the guy from Grissom Project for your keys I just don't even know.
I clicked because Dancing Mad, not expecting much. I just love music. It's the only thing that moves my heart, trigger my emotions. (I have a condition) Crashing down on me like an avalanche came the first notes on me, and i immediately plugged in my headphones. I had felt something i have been expecting ever since i heard Nobuo Uematsu play this live, after countless remixes... They lacked something... A sense of Urgency. The feeling of Dread. The brass piercing your very core, the percussion shaking your body, the voices rising your blood pressure. I am writing this as i feel it, as i listen, as i engrave this into my memory. Thank YOU. It's been perfect, and i'm tearing up. It's like i always needed it.
I love this so much. at first I was confused by some of the time signature and rhythm stuff. But after a while it have become one of my favourite versions of this song. there's so many small details. I especially love that in the 4th movement, all tho vocals sound as if they are laughing every note. Even in the slower part it makes it sound sarcastic. Like, Kefka is trying to be serious for a moment, but just can't keep a straight face on those staccato "ha ha ho ho". Really brings out that element of the character being menacing and unsettling, but playful and unpredictable too. Only thing that bugged me was the bell/tubular bell played 1 note the whole time and ends up out of tune for the key changes, and I can't really figure out why that was the choice. Outside of that this will be on repeat!
So the frenetic parts of the song aren't as frenetic as they feel in the original. That dissonant organ run section from the original sounds very tame in this version. I think it would maintain interest betterif it still had those sharp corners. It is a fantastic rendition, thanks zy!
I think you're missing those really high over-melody organ parts. They super add to the schizo factor especially over the more tenor vocal bit that the composer picked for the transition. I noticed it pretty hard around 6:00, but then after 8:00 I thought it really started to redeem itself in the organ dept. :) Still yet another amazing rendition of one of my favorite pieces of all time.
I return to these movements to reflect. Full disclosure, it is in the depths of a full frontal drunkeness more often than not. The world has shown itself to be a troubled place, and we are all but pawns plotting our nexus.
I'm sad that the final part doesn't much resemble prog, since that seemed to have been what Nobuo was going for. Also WTH is that image 🤣🤣 that is amazing and really adds to the insanity of this track.
I really like it that the distorted laught of kefka was use like a transition. its really creative to see how you use it the original sheet to do someting new
I actually think Movements 1 and 2 were the best. There are a few parts in this version that take away some of the interest of the original, by no means is this rendition not good. I'd be eager to hear a rework in the future if you ever decide/have the time to do so. :)
Thus far very nice 👍 What would be exceptional (just thinking out loud so to speak) would be a transcription for double-string orchestra, actual percussion, usage of a historic organ...damn I feel like having a go at it! Anyhow nice work - I’m not familiar w the original so can’t compare but this is dope 🖤
Honestly, the sole point of this arrangement was testing the new sample libraries I had gotten at the time, the track is a complete byproduct of that, same with the previous cover. Though I did give the idea of reworking it in another style and more serious manner a thought. I'm busy with other projects currently; give it a year or so.
I generally don't like Final Fantasy, but I find this orchestral arrangement to be the only soundtrack of the game that I sort-of enjoy listening to, as much as I hate to say it. Tbh, I recommend Final Fantasy lovers to check out the actual work that inspired it: Dante's Divine Comedy. Liszt has an amazing symphony that inspired this piece! Regardless, G-d bless you all, and I hope you have a wonderful day.
I love the rendition. But it doesn’t really capture Kefka’s heart, like the original. And that’s what Nobuo went for. The clown, the jester, the king, and eventually a God. This was all all God rendition.
The greatest threat the ff universe saw was a nihilistic clown who wanted to laugh at any price. No speeches, no backstory, no ambition. A force of unreasonable violence for the sake of violence. Chaos may have built the throne, but Kefka owned it and made the crown.

Movement 2 legit had me looking around the corner for lord Frieza. I’m very much commenting twice because it’s really just this much of a treat lol.
Lots of people try to remake dancing mad, but this one is surely top tier
Movement 2 was such a treat
Probably the most creative interpretation I've heard of it and easily my favorite. Overall this is absolutely incredible!
To take something that is already so well fleshed out and still be this creative with it is so impressive.
13:26
Always will be my favorite part you just made it even better
*Thunderous.* This version of Dancing Mad has some real punch. Excellent percussion and vocals.
6:30 when you bite into a hot pocket too soon
This is actually so underrated. More people need to listen to this.

Wow, truly fantastic! I think this is the best rendition I've heard. And that laugh at 11:32, was creepy and mad as all hell. Perfection.
