@@williamwallace5857 Well she is playing the sax and singing also. In both you have to have supreme control of your breath...it is tough to do especially live. If she had been playing guitar instead it would've been easier to sing and play.
You know how incredibly difficult it is to play that sax part with the enthusiasm it requires, then immediately sing the song with the enthusiasm it requires while also staying in key? Then go back to playing the sax with the same effort? A Herculean task.
So many great albums during that period. Far too many to list. The Police, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Eddie Money, Pat Benatar, Heart, I can't even remember one-tenth of them without a computer.
no special effects, nothing just GREAT music that tears at your heart, this song. love this time of my life, we had it so good...........at least we had it, so we can recreate it anytime we want by coming back here and listening to it. I am so glad we had this. God bless everyone........
In '83 /'84, I saw them 2 times, with Rick Springfield. Both times, they stole the show ! Fantastic live band. Rindy Ross, & husband Marv. -----------------MJL, 76 y/o today.
hands-down, a Classic rocker . No matter who you were, if you were hearing this song, you were tapping toes, or up, & dancing ! Rindy Ross !! --------------------------MJL< 76 y/o
Roni Mcclanahan, I agree, my family and I would travel from Ft. Smith to go ice skating at The Williams Center in the late 70s and early 80s, such a wonderful atmosphere.
That is some true talent up on stage. My god, they were so underrated, perhaps if they had worked with some great songwriters they would be higher up on the scale of the 80s musical scene.
Back when if you wanted to make a living in music had to have the following.... Able to sing Able to play Able to perform Today's acts just dance, their ability to play is limited, very few acts have following except as teen or 20's then fade away only handful at most can sing and perform.
I grew up in the Greenwood district in north Seattle. The "G Note" tavern was next to the Lucky supermarket (now Fred Meyers) where I used to shop. I remember seeing the sign out front saying "Seafood Mama" was going to be there. I laughed to myself and wondered what kind of crazy band that was. Later I found out. D'oh! (I also think this is the best live performance of this song I've seen. WOW.)
The hat they threw on stage worked perfectly. Super great song, just wish they had more hits. I don't remember hearing about them playing anywhere back then. Maybe I was just into different stuff.
I always loved that extra guitar lick that comes in about 2:47 when they play this live. Why the radio and recorded version did not have this, I'll never understand. I could listen to this song over and over forever. The harmony when they sing is incredible. 80's and 90's forever.
He should have done what Lindsey Buckingham did in the famous comeback concert of Fleetwood Mac. He should have made a 3-5-minute guitar solo improvising as far as he could during that time. He only went about 30 seconds. Imagine what a 5-minute guitar solo would have done for that live telecast?
That sax solo is the definition of 80’s music. I just discovered this live version. Love her passion! I think I almost prefer this to the studio recording
Such a great musical formulation!!! I never get sick of listening to it, Rindy has such a beautiful voice along with the backup vocals, drums, bass, rock guitar etc etc etc, you kind of hope that bands can continue coming up with dynamic music formulations, but they often tell you that the song didn't arise deliberately, it just came at a random moment in time, wow!!! I call it divine intervention 🤔
This was amazing concert!!! THX for posting it! I wish we'd have had an in-store appearance @ Peaches Records!! I had the poster for this for a long time, it got given away.
She always said she was not a trained vocalist. But what a voice. Sexy, flawed , and outright beautiful
I mean... nothing today sounds anything like this. Rindy Ross is incredible!!! What raw talent!!!
The way her voice breaks on some of those words/notes. So real. So authentic.
So average singer.
@@williamwallace5857 Well she is playing the sax and singing also. In both you have to have supreme control of your breath...it is tough to do especially live. If she had been playing guitar instead it would've been easier to sing and play.
@William Wallace Average? She's pretty darn clean and clear. She's above average at least, playing the instrument and sounding so good.
Above average.
Way above average. This lady can sing
Ohio University Class, of '85 thanks you!
Quarterflash is from Ohio?
There are moments of brilliance that will last forever and look and sound as fresh as the day they were made and this is one of them
Bring it back...
So true.. didn’t really appreciate this song at the time it was released...forty years later it sounds as fresh and relevant as ever.
Word!!
I love her voice. The passion she shows with her singing is awesome.
You know how incredibly difficult it is to play that sax part with the enthusiasm it requires, then immediately sing the song with the enthusiasm it requires while also staying in key? Then go back to playing the sax with the same effort? A Herculean task.
What a great song I miss this type of music so much. 1978 to 1984 what a time for great music
So many great albums during that period. Far too many to list. The Police, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Eddie Money, Pat Benatar, Heart, I can't even remember one-tenth of them without a computer.
@@daffidavit countless classics
Incredible time. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Especially today. Our country is gone. Everything good and beautiful is gone.
Rindy was and is still irresistible!! 👍😊
Wow she is truly a talented vocalist and hits every single damn note!! And plays the sax???!!!!!! Phenomenal band
Gotta have elite level lung capacity to play sax then sing, then sax and back to sing…90% of saxophone players aren’t also singing lead in the song
The 80s had some kick ass music.....
Слава Україні і попсі 80-х 😂
See Kate Bush
she goes from playing sax to singing to sax, wow very impressive!
Only took me 33 years of life to find this video
Me too !! What a rippin jam
I didn't know she played the sax part too. Awesome!!
Portland OR
That's the first thing I said to myself. Pretty damn Kool
Very talented on the sax and great voice..today they can't play instruments.long live the 80 s
Rindy rocks this song!
The way the guitarist hits it HARD after the a capella part is so cool. It's like the guitar is reflecting the singer's hardened heart.
I can binge listen to this epic musical story
She has a beautiful voice ❤
no special effects, nothing just GREAT music that tears at your heart, this song.

it anytime we want by coming back here and listening to it. I am so glad we had this. God bless everyone........
Excellent video also group and song 🎵 ! I enjoyed all years them on radio and RUclips videos too!
That sound is unreal. Both the singing and the sax.
Wow a real woman .words don't convey my appreciation of this woman's and this bands talent ..fucking awesome.
Omg!! Why can't the music today 2121 be like this, that's real music, come on ppl ..get with it!!
In '83 /'84, I saw them 2 times, with Rick Springfield. Both times, they stole the show ! Fantastic live band. Rindy Ross, & husband Marv. -----------------MJL, 76 y/o today.
This is the best song to listen to while driving on a highway at night.
The 80s spoiled us…Proof
Saw them open for Rick Springfield. Great concert even though our seats sucked.
Love the drumming.
And the drummer’s perm!
I couldn't help but zone out on his hair bouncing around.
This chick always on..best
Once upon time ago were real musicians and singers!
Missed then…
❤❤
Rindy Ross,of The Incredible Band Named Quarterflash
I guess they figured Seafood Mama wouldn't work outside of Portland. I do love Quarterflash though.
When this song first came out it was HUGE. Every time the radio came on it was playing. Loved it.
hands-down, a Classic rocker . No matter who you were, if you were hearing this song, you were tapping toes, or up, & dancing ! Rindy Ross !! --------------------------MJL< 76 y/o
They’re amazing! As someone who wore those short knicker pants in the 80’s I can say nobody should’ve been wearing those pants in the 80’s :)
Well not Tom Cruise anyrate.. They'd be down to his ankles 😂💀
It's so 80's.... I LOVE It !!
This is amazing and that it is captured for eternity
I lived in Tulsa in the 80s . I don’t know how I missed this show.
A song for the ages.Congrats to all who made this-excellent
A beautiful voice of my past, the 80's. In 1982 i was 12.
This gal was one hell of a singer.
What your mean was..
She died ???
@@ingodwetrustdellaware-inc8322 According to Google, she is still alive. She’s 70 years old. Born in 1951.
One of the finest sax players ever...one of the finest groups ever....so underated!!! Love Rindy and Marv!
I was born from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I still live in Tulsa. I'm proud of it!!

Rindy was completely talented
Une voix qui met en scène les amours d'un saxophone 🎷 et d'une guitare 🎸, inoubliable titre qui n a pas vieilli !!!!
Oiu
Linda y hermoza rindy ....enamorado de tu musica.....
I'll say it again 70 and 80s music rules
Now that's a concert I wish I could have been at. Such a good sounding band and Rindy is such an amazing singer.
Such a wonderful voice - up and down and back up again on the scales.
Compared to today's rap shite, the music of angels
When music was great and real...
Damn I miss the 80's sometimes great music and gorgeous red heads that sing and play a mean sax, Rindy Ross was smokin hot
she is great the whole band she sure know how to play that sax were still listening in 2020
Damn she plays the sax then goes into singing... some pipes she has damn.
Sexy as hell too.
Seen tons of people do that. Nothing rare.
Play Alto. The Sax actually makes singing easier
Oh yes. I know
Joe Casson joe get a freaking life. Stupid libs, just cause we dont agree with you, we’re trolls. Don’t like my opinion, move the fuk on.
chat...sax....sing......with barely a chance to catch her breath and a well rehearsed band having fun. quality
Great band. A classic from the era. Rindy Ross is terrific. Good lead/guitar tone.
Gotta Love her husbands harmonics in the end of his solo...I love em! How rindy could sing and play sax wowwww
Excellent musicians 🎶👍
Damn this is awesome
Great song. Great sax. I’ve always loved the way the distortion kicks in at 4:15. 🤙🏼
That is some true talent up on stage. My god, they were so underrated, perhaps if they had worked with some great songwriters they would be higher up on the scale of the 80s musical scene.

Rindy has sax appeal
Your joke really sax.
Great performance!!!
Great music thank you .
This is talent
Good talent live
That sax solo is one of, if not the greatest ever.
I always loved that extra guitar lick that comes in about 2:47 when they play this live. Why the radio and recorded version did not have this, I'll never understand. I could listen to this song over and over forever. The harmony when they sing is incredible. 80's and 90's forever.
It's not unusual for artists/bands to lengthen a live version of one of their popular tunes, especially when it's the finale or encore.
Me too

1 of the great sax solos in the 1980s.
Quarterflash should have been bigger.
Only 2 members, wife and hubby, are left. They can still play! 👩🎤🎸
That sax solo is the definition of 80’s music. I just discovered this live version. Love her passion! I think I almost prefer this to the studio recording
You'd really say this is better than Clarence Clemmons? Get f-ing real
They had 3 Top 10 hits

Lead guitar- great sound - one pedal 🤩
I listen to this song almost everyday. Great beat and love the sax and the words clearly have meaning. Perfect in IMHO!
I hope she is still making music. What a great talent.
Jesus almighty have mercy 🥺

Jaws dropping and tears of joy flowing
Go with that saxophone you got; you come across very strong with it.
