    Quarterflash were a rarity - a band where FEMALE lead singer also was the sax player! Rindy Ross formed the band with her husband Marv, and they enjoyed their greatest success in the first half of the 80s. They didn't call it quits, though ... they put out a new album just last year! This was their first big hit, but they had to others, "Find Another Fool" and "Take Me To Heart". Both are excellent. P.S. Another early 80s female led band you should check out is The Motels. "Only the Lonely" and "Suddenly Last Summer" are classics. Laura Branigan is another great one, too ("Self Control")

    This was a hit when they were known as “Seafood Mama” in Portland, Oregon, a rock group that became a popular nightclub band. Membership included Rindy Ross (lead vocals and saxophone) and her husband Marv Ross (guitars). Circa 1980/'81 they revamped the band -- adding Jack Charles (guitars), Rick DiGiallonardo (keyboards/synthesizers), Rich Gooch (electric bass), and Brian David Willis (drums and percussion), becoming Quarterflash.

    You were saying you don't get many bands with female leads... you should try The Pretenders... Chrissie Hynde is the front person of the band and rhythm guitarist. She has a unique voice that you instantly know it is her singing.
    "My City Was Gone" 'Back on the Chain Gang" "Brass in Pocket" "Middle of the Road" "I'll Stand By You" "Talk of the Town"
    They have a couple of Christmas songs too... "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "2000 Miles"

    Bonnie Raitt "I can't make you love me" Is a song that I played over and over. That whole album was fire. She is known for her guitar playing but love her voice because it's raw. Sheryl Crow " Home" is another fantastic song. Merry Christmas Everyone! 🎅 🤶🧑‍🎄🧑‍🎄☃️❄🌲🎼

    Trust me when I tell you……your next Quarterflash react NEEDS to be “Find Another Fool…BUT…don’t watch the regular video…you MUST react to their live performance of it at the 1983 US Festival…Rindy goes OFF on her sax solo.

    Great 80s track! I totally forgot this one. For female singers from the 80s, I recommend Rough Trade's "All Touch" and Martha and The Muffins "Echo Beach"... both are Canadian bands with female vocals.

    For any Quarterflash fans out there, check your vinyl copy of their first album. If you have a first printing, it may be worth something - there is a printing error on the back. The printers actually misspelled the record label name a couple of times - "Gellen" records instead of "Geffen".

    • @dustywaynemusic6297
      @dustywaynemusic6297 3 года назад

      Omg I have that and it does say "Gellen"!

    • @TheCkent100

      @@dustywaynemusic6297 You might want to look into what its worth. I have a copy of that album, but for me to check into the value would be pointless as mine is autographed by the entire band. Autographs tend to lower the value for album collectors, but may have value to autograph collectors. Since Quarterflash didn't hit the stratosphere in terms of their career, I doubt that autograph hunters are bidding really high for this one. Might be a different story for album collectors though.
