Never forget that Paula choreographed for Janet Jackson, what do you call the one who teaches a master... A legend
Back in the day my daughter loved this song….she had me up dancing to it! The violins were awesome!
She also choreographed for George Michael!
And she was the FIRST Laker Girl
Oooo Well Said 👏🏼
Well said,Gazing, she's obviously the superior dancer. LOL. She's problaly been taking lessons since a kid and the dancing is Phenomenal !!!
She wasn't "a" Laker girl, she was "the" Laker girl. People came to the games just to see her and whatever new routine she came up with. The crowd loved her.
Lol. No one paid money to go see a cheerleader at a lakers game.
@@paranoidewok6772 How old are you? There were lots of people that went to Laker games for other reasons than to watch the basketball game itself and some went to see her.
Are you like 5?@@paranoidewok6772
@@paranoidewok6772literally just…read history. They did, she was THE spectacle
@@paranoidewok6772 u got no clue what your talking about, you must be like 18 that’s why
You have to hear Opposites Attract. That song is funky!!🎶
Especially with the video for it. Not going to give anything away, though.
& Vibeology
Yes you have to do the Video for Opposites attract
🎶It ain't fiction it's a natural fact🎶
With MC CAT bc there is a version without it
Paula Abdul has also choreographed for Janet Jackson ( Nasty, When I think of you), movies such as Coming To America, American Beauty and the Academy Awards, numerous times for which she won an Emmy. She also choreographed this amazing video. 👏 she is epic!
I believe she also appeared in the Nasty video.
She also choreographed the dance routines in the movie "Big" with Tom Hanks.
She even choreographed a ZZ-TOP music video for "velcro fly".
I'll say it, she can dance better than Madonna, Janet , all the ladies.
She also choreographed all the cheerleader dance moves in the 80's classic movie CAN'T BUY ME LOVE.
Yessssssss this makes me so happy. "All the world's a candy store and he's been trick or treatin" Paula is 🔥🔥🔥
The choreography is an homage to the late Bob Fosse and inspired by a number in his movie All that Jazz, possibly my favorite movie of all time.
Also, the show "Glee" did a shorter cover of this song and their choreography was definitely "borrowed" from this video. Probably my favorite Paula Abdul song.
Janet used some of these same moves in her "If" video.
I’ve watched “All that Jazz” like 30 times. Great movie.
Fosse was the Male God of Dance! Moves he came up with could be so simple, yet so scintillatingly provocative, in a classy way.
My fave movie of all time too! Huge Bob Fosse fan since I was a kid, watched that movie many times, probably not great for a kid, but the dancing enraptured me and the film grew on me as I grew. I was 11 when Paula’s album came out and I was hooked from the get go. I was seriously taking ballet, jazz, tap and when this video came out I was all over it!!! Cannot underestimate the love I had for Paula. I wanted to dance for her when I grew up. ❤️
She was inspired by legendary actor choreographer dancer director Bob Fosse when she did this video
Yep. This entire video is a direct homage to Fosse's ALL THAT JAZZ - "Take off with us" scene.
I can see that in 'Opposites Attract'. 😀
@@damiannieman2870 I knew at least one person would help supply the Fosse reference. (I'm sure there are others.) The movie ALL THAT JAZZ is about a director-choreographer (modeled very much after Fosse himself). I highly recommend watching the scene that Paula is paying homage to: ruclips.net/video/ZH4VjhMJQys/видео.html
Paula isn't just a dancer, but a choreographer. She creates and arranges the various dance movements for everyone in the routine. All those parts where the different dancers were doing their own moves, that was still all her design and direction. On a crowded stage, a dancer improvising can cause an accident or injury, so she designs every step.
The choreography in this video is based on a famous dance scene in All That Jazz - it's homage to Bob Fosse and she does it brilliantly.
she also taught janet jackson.. janets style is heavily influenced by paula!
I grew up with Paula Abdul in the 80's and this song was Hot back then.
This video is a tribute to a scene from the movie All That Jazz, where choreographer Bob Fosse(the movie is a loose biopic of his life) created the sexiest airline commercial ever made!
Air-Rotica!
Yeah, ask the kids to leave the room before watching that clip, but its great.
Forever Your Girl, Opposites Attract and Rush, Rush are three others that are great. There are others that charted, but these three, this current one and Straight Up were/are the big ones.
Forever Your Girl was just a great album altogether
I also love Promise of a new day. I love Rush Rush It has Keanu Reeves in it
Rush, RUSH! I loved this song!
Dont forget Paula taught Janet to dance, choreographing most of Janet’s early videos
A hidden gem of Paula's: "Vibeology"
I love that song!
great song - so much energy!
Paula choreography is flawless, she is the only female artist I guess who can spin like that. You guys should react on her opening performance at the 1990 American music award. Best ever!👍
Love me some Paula! My vote for her next song is "Forever Your Girl", such a really sweet song that is also a banger!
Did you know that Paula choreographed some of Janet Jackson's music videos, and won awards for her choreography? She also the the choreographer for the Jackson's on one of their later tours!
Awesome. Ex-Laker girl cheerleader who went on to choreograph Janet Jackson and became a star in her own right. She's a very creative choreographer and performer.
"Cold Hearted" was first released as the B-side of "Straight Up" in Dec. '88. Then the record company realized they were wasting a potential hit as a B-side. So "Cold Hearted" was removed and a new 2nd mix of Straight Up" was substituted on the B-side. 6 months later, in June '89, "Cold Hearted" was released as an A-side single. Thus, in 1989, "Cold Hearted" became the the 3rd of 6 straight #1s for Paula Abdul on the Billboard Hot 100. Abdul charted 13 singles in the Top 100 between 1988 - 1995 featuring 8 Top 10 singles of which 6 in a row were #1s. "Cold Hearted" peaked @ #19 on the Dance chart and is just listed as the B-side of "Straight Up" on the R&B/Soul chart which was #2 for 2 weeks.
great info thanks
I remember hearing this...and liking it more than "Straight Up!" WHen they re-released it, she/the producers added that spoken-word/pseudo-rap bit.
Paula Abdul and 80’s dance go together. The strings are a great addition.
I haven’t heard that one by Paula in awhile! My favorites by her are “Opposites Attract” and “Rush, Rush” . You guys should try those too! The cold hearted snake 🐍 just might be Arsenio Hall or Emilio Estevez 😉
Could also be John Stamos or Janet’s brother, Jackie Jackson? You guys should check out The Jackson’s hit Torture, it’s a pure 80’s banger.
Nah, this was released before her relationship with and marriage to Emilio. Basically this album upped her celebrity status and led to her numerous celebrity relationships. As for Arsenio, even though they had been lovers, they always remained friends. She was frequently a guest on his talk show and he was helping her promote her music, basically helping elevate each other's careers.
"Rush, Rush" makes great use of the violins too!
arsenio said it was about him
I met her in person, such a sweetheart check out the song Knocked Out.
I really love to see people who could be my kids enjoying the music I loved as a teen. Well done.
My favorite Paula Abdul song, video and choreography. Paula also dated Jackie Jackson (Michael’s older bro) while as a Laker girl, and choreographer for the Laker girls. She also choreographed for the Jacksons and Janet Jackson as well as for the movie Coming to America.
Paula Abdul came along right when I was going through puberty, and this music video sped the whole process up. Thanks Paula...
Me too!
Me too and George Michael freedom 90 lol
Love love love Paula!!! The sheer excitement when her new videos dropped. Forever your girl, and Rush Rush are must sees! Great reaction!!
That whole album is great
I agree I keep mentioning Rush Rush featuring Keanu Reeves I mean it's a mini film in itself! I can't wait until they see it
They've reacted to Rush Rush. ❤
@@amandabispo2949 I must have missed it or I don't remember sorry
@@bridgetharrison103 I don't see it anymore either. I wonder if it got blocked?
This was actually in the 90s and they were very polished superstars. You mentioned Janet and you should watch Black Cat if you like this kind of song.
“Miss you much” is a Janet Jackson song with a video similar to this one. The songs really different, it’s a love song but it had 2 edits that were played and great dance moves. Also “if”by Janet has a similar type dancing, very sexual. But again the song itself is very different.
@@Great-Documentaries I think they meant black cat is similar lyric wise because it’s about a guy who’s out cheating and partying and getting into trouble. Not necessarily that it sounds or looks the same
I loved Paula Abdul in her prime! Some of her underrated songs that I don't see many people react to are Knocked Out, The Way That You Love Me and Forever Your Girl. Would love to see more reactions to Paula on your channel!
This is an homage to a scene in a movie called ALL THAT JAZZ, about Bob Fossie the famous choreographer! This number was called Air-rotica! Very sexy!
I liked the movie and that entire routine beginning with "Take Off With Us" was cool.
The male censors looking scandalized, the female censor looking totally into it. lol This is really such a positive song for women, saying you deserve something better than a prowler, you shouldn't have to sit by the phone, you do not have to be used by someone who's a snake. Love Paula. She is a real inspiration, a very hard worker, her voice is amazing, and you can not touch her in dancing (though Debbie Allen is probably the only one who can).
She wasnt "trained", SHE trained others. She was not just a Laker Girl, she was their choreographer. Janet Jackson was one of her trainees.
This is my most favorite Paula Abdul song. The song is fire, the video is fire. It's just great.
If you like jams with violins, you should play CHIC "Le Freak" or "I Want Your Love"....by the way...Jay, luv that Rocko's Modern Life tee..👍
Thank you, I’ve been trying to get them to listen to CHIC maybe I’m not getting my comments in at the right time
definitely waiting for them to run across Chic, Sister Sledge, Heatwave and Jermaine Jackson solo stuff
Don’t sleep on Paula. So talented and creative. We’re all lucky to experience this type of talent.
God I miss the 80's, so much fun dancing the night away. Great song and Reaction. 👍
Paula had some serious hits! This was my favorite along with Rush, Rush with Keanu Reeves in the video
I’ve heard that Paula Abdul really wanted to put out an album while she was such a popular choreographer in the late 80s. So sometimes, she would do choreography for artists and ask them to write a song for her debut album instead of being paid money. Pretty impressive.
Paula was a student of Bob Fosse(Broadway's Famous Choreographer and Director of Chicago and All That Jazz). This song and choreography is dedicated to Bob Fosse as she did her take on The Airplane routine dance in the Film "All That Jazz." And in interview she say that she is a student of Bob Fosse.....but so was a lot of people like Michael Jackson ...... Prince.....Janet Jackson.....etc.
Live instruments in the 80's was a MUST!!! 🤣🥰🎶
You have to do her video “opposites attract”, it is a mix of live and animation together.
Paula Abdul is an amazing human in so many ways. Fun reaction
Finally! Been waiting so long for this one. This and Straight Up are just Paula's absolute BEST. She's just a GEM. If you want a similar vibe - could you please react to Janet Jackson's official Black Cat video? It's a banger - and you guys will LOVE it.
My favorite Janet song....Black Cat is Fire!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I think my favorite of hers is “Rush, Rush” which is a slow, romantic song. But really, I think part of the reason we loved it so much as 13 y/o girls back in the day is because Keanu Reeves is in the video and we thought he was soooo fine. I also got to see her in concert for her Under My Spell tour. I don’t remember it well, but I remember having a lot of fun!
As a pre-teen/teenaged girl at the time they really hit the scene, I can tell you that yes, Paula and Janet were IT.
Cold Hearted was always my favorite, she is an incredible Choreographer & Dancer ❤️
YAAAASS!!!!! This is my favorite of hers. Rush Rush is my second favorite, which you should do next. A young Keanu Reeves is in the video.
Thank y’all for not making us wait til Friday for this reaction! You can’t go wrong with anything in Paula Abdul’s music catalog, and if you decide to go back to her and Janet I hope it’s, “What Have You Done For Me Lately” 😎
From Dallas cheer leader to dance teacher and singing and dancing. Much love. Brandi Modrak 💕
If you liked that cello solo, then check out 2 Cellos. THEY ROCK!!!
I love them! They're amazing!
Paula Abdul was my first real concert but I had to leave early cuz my little cousin got a headache and couldnt swallow a dang pill.
This was the video that when it came out when I was 22 it made me break out in a sweat. My gf at the time was not a fan of me seeing it anymore (after my eyes glazed over), so it became a secret watch and listen for me, depending if it was MTV or the radio.
OMG... the video has not even started and I am so excited!! I love this song and video!!!
Amber, it's great how much more relaxed you are in front of the camera! 😍🤩👍🏽
This video was tribute to legendary choreographer Bob Fosse. This was a scene in the movie All That Jazz. Great video. Im glad you finally reacted to it. 👍
The rap flow is just her repeating the sentence/line twice.
Paula was Janet's choreographer for her first albums videos
This was the best dance. Go Paula. “My love is for real” , “rush rush” and “crazy cool” should be watched from Paula Abdul. All legendary.
You guys rock!! I just love your reactions and the way you both interact with each other..keep them coming and God bless!!
Please keep doing more Paula Abdul.
Opposites Attract, Crazy Cool, Forever Your Girl, Blowing Kisses In The Wind, Will You Marry Me?, Rush Rush, Promise Of A New Day, My Love Is For Real, Dance Like There's No Tomorrow, Knocked Out, (It's Just) The Way That You Love Me....all well worth a watch.
You will love doing a deep dive into Paula Abdul.
I always loved this song, great pick!!
Paula Abdul had me sing and dancing since the late 80s. I remember this video and song among many others so fondly. I even got a chance to see her in concert at the Barclays in NYC a few years ago.
Rush, Rush, awesome video and Keanu Reeves!!! Epic.
My daughter at 8 was a huge Paula Abdul fan. She and her friends were singing and dancing all around the house. We had a Paula concert from Japan we watched 100+ times
Opposites Attract, Rush Rush, Forever Your Girl are the next three you should do. The official video's are also really good. Big Time actor stars in the Rush Rush video.
Rush, Rush-- my favorite!!! (Song and woo-HOO, the actor!!! 🤩🥰)
I love how Paula parlayed being a Laker Girl into being one of the most sought after choreographers during the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. She has both an Emmy & a Grammy for her choreography work.
Paula did it all....Laker Girl , Fly Girl, Choreographer, Singer, Dancer and acting and voice overs....she was also a judge on AGT.❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
Paula wasn't a fly girl. That was JLo.

Hey y'all thanks for this reaction--I loved the end when Amber was saying she was going to learn some dance moves--I laughed with y'all so much--my life is a mess right now, so thanks for what you do---it means more than you might know.....
Best line. All the worlds a candy store you been trick or treating.
Paula Abdul is perfect 80's singer. Please do Rush Rush . It has Keanu Reeves in the video and it is based on REBEL WITH OUT A CAUSE with the Great James DEAN . MUT DO!!!!!!
This!
Paula was and is a perennial fave :D Glad you made time for this on your schedule!
Oh yeah, early bird here. I absolutely loved this song. I was in middle school and Paula and Janet were at the top of the game. This is my favorite from her. Loved the message, lived the Dance moves, loved the rap, loved the violins too. Every aspect about this song was brilliant to me. I was a dancer in school. Her and Janet were my idols growing up. I wanted to be just like them
I was in 7th grade when "Straight Up" hit MTV and I was smitten. When my aunt saw me glued to the tv when that video came on, she asked me about it. A week later, on Xmas morning, my auntie handed me my present from her and it was the Forever Your Girl album on cassette. Still one of my favorite memories.
This takes me back..lived for new MTV video drops .. especially Michael, Janet,& Paula ❤ You knew you were getting gold!!
Paula is amazing! Had not heard this in awhile. Great reaction and a great moment there at the end! Thanks.
The double talk rap part is soooo sssllllck!!!! 🤣❤️❤️❤️
I've been waiting for this one!!! This is one of her best songs, and she looks amazing in the video!!!
Jay & Amber just like a couple of people said, :Paula Abdul was a Los Angeles Laker Cheerleader n choreographer in the early 1980's n seeing a young Earvin "Magic" Johnson do his thing for the Lakers. She left the Laker girls to become a dance choreographer for artist like Janet Jackson. U guys have to react to her music videos like Knocked Out; Rush Rush; Opposites Attracts; The Way That You Love Me; Forever Your Girl; The Promise Of A New Day; Blowing Kisses In The Wind; Ain't Never Gonna Give You Up. Oh yeah! Definitely a great breakup song! I lived in a trailer park and my boyfriend lived right next door. I had a killer stereo system and opened every window and put this song on repeat and blasted it the day I caught him cheating! He was so embarrassed that after the 3rd day of it, he actually moved from Illinois to Georgia! 🤣
🤣😅👍😅🤣
LMFAO I love how his eyes were closed the entire ICONIC dance break with Paula Abdul dancing. THAT WAS the climax of the video and he shut his eyes. LOL I want a re-do I wanted to see his reaction to her dancing but we got the exciitement of the violins LOL
Hey guys- please react to her beautiful she bf “Rush Rush” next- Anotger MAJOR hit of Paulas- Her songs we’re definitely a staple of us teenage girls in the 80’s- Those bad boys we just couldn’t get enough of.. 😬
The video also has Keanu Reeves in it- Its scenes from the movie “Point Break” that they did together back in the day- 😁
You beat me to it!!! I was going to say the same thing. Paula’s faster songs are amazing with her choreography but PLEASE don’t overlook her slower songs. “Rush Rush” is so beautiful and of course the young Keanu Reeves makes it all the more appealing. ❤️ But the movie you are thinking of is “Point Break” with Keanu and Patrick Swayze. Paula was not in the movie and her video to Rush Rush was actually based on the 1955 James Dean movie “Rebel Without a Cause”.
Amber and Jay, you have to make it your next Paula reaction.
Paula Abdul´s music is awesome, classic, of course began in the 80´s. The Promise of a new day, Forever your girl, Opposites Attract, they´re great songs
Love Paula Abdul! Such an wonderful dancer.
You like strings? Seriously? Lindsey Stirling is your girl. Best most amazing violin you ever heard. Got to see to believe.
Paula is so GORGEOUS
What a career she's had. She started out as a Laker Girl, became a world-class choreographer for legends like Janet Jackson, and then... boom. By the 1990, everyone in the world knew her name. You've gotten two of her songs under your belt, but she had so many hits it will take you a while to get to them all. "Forever Your Girl", "Opposites Attract", "Rush Rush", "The Promise of a New Day" ALL HIT NUMBER ONE. My personal favorite, though is "Vibeology" just because it's so cool! Bit o' trivia - this video was directed by David Fincher, the man who directed such blockbuster films as "Fight Club", Se7en", and "The GIrl With the Dragon Tattoo".
Forever your Girl has to be one of my favorite Paula Abdul songs / music video's because it give's a glimpse behind the scenes of everything she does for one of her video's. From directing to teaching people the dance choreography she wants them to do in a nice mixture of black and white and color through out the video.
Inspired by / Tribute to the legendary Bob Fosse.
The dance scene was a recreation from the movie All That Jazz.
@@sheilareynolds3755, yes and All That Jazz is "... a semi- autobiographical tale written and directed by the legendary Bob Fosse".
Paula was amazing back in the day. She still is, I mean she can still rock it. She has had some really serious injuries that have caused her to live her older years in constant chronic pain, yet she still does a great job at what she can do. She is an inspiration to me for sure. My favorite song that I would love to hear you play sometime is: Blowing Kisses in the Wind. It is so beautiful and haunting and really shows off her vocal skills. I also like the song Rush Rush. She did a cool video with Keano Reeves.
J & Amber, you'll love her "Opposites Attract" and "Rush Rush"!!!

“All the world is a candy store and he’s been trick or treating.”
Lol gets me every time.
THIS SONG! I remember going to a college basketball game and seeing the cheerleaders and gymnasts (male and female) doing a routine to this and it totally rocked. Paula's dancing was inspirational. I still love the choreography with this music even with it being over 30 years old now. Was so ready to see your reaction to the violins.
Paula Abdul had great songs and she definitely talented and I totally forgot about this video, it’s awesome
Like Jay, I was blown away when I heard that orchestra part. I especially loved the quick shots of the violin players...and that dude on cello wearing that hat. The intense looks on their faces are just killer.
Opposites Attract has always been my favorite Paula Abdul song.
This music video stands the test of time, and Paula Abdul is an amazing artist! ❤️
The inspiration for the video came from Bob Fosse's choreography of the "Take Off with Us" scene in the movie All That Jazz.
Y'all know she got her start choreographing Janet's videos, right? That's why the dance moves are so similar.
She had so many hits back to back that it's easy to forget they were all off 1 album. After that, nobody gave a damn about her. That's a shame because she's got a great voice.
