This guy is what a reviewer should be. Not trying too hard to please everyone, not afraid of poking the beehive of angry fanboys. Hes just being based, and giving his honest opinion on things. He's a rare youtube reviewer that hasn't fallen to the dark side of the internet. Great content.
Hence why 90% of Reddit hate him when he's brought in the conversation: either you're too extreme or not following conventions, and with the latter, it's usually a good thing. I mean, even Mauler feels threatened enough to attack the guy for taking the "reviewer with long, detailed anti-mainstream thinking" spot. While sometimes I feel like he's overreaching, he's not wrong on almost every things he points out. He helped me broaden my perspective on certain games on almost every of his videos. It's still his own review and opinion, but at least it's not preaching blindly because it's a franchise he loves or mainstream expectations of "good", which is a low bar these days. And he's not taking any shit with woke stuff so that's already 10/10 in my book.
Ashley is never as bad as everyone says she is. Besides her solo part she stayed out of my way the whole time. I never get why people made such a big deal out of her. The regenerators too. People made them out to be the scariest things alive but you can easily kill them all. Also some areas drag on a bit like the island area
100 percent agree I'd even say her solo section isn't anything, as all the enemies can be easily outmaneuvered. The rest of the game she can be either put in a dumpster, is kidnapped or can be put on wait as you fight off enemies....WITH EXCEPTION to two sections in the game being the water hall and the wrecking ball rooms those two rooms are the bane of my existence but I mean come on in a 20 hour game, 20 minutes of annoyance does not equal OMG worst character ever I really dont get all the hate.
@@kalibremexRecently played the original for the first time, and I agree. I can only remember one or two times where I either killed her by accident, or have the gameplay stuck unbearably.
Regenerators can be killed easily but still their design is quite creepy, along with the sounds they make. It just catch you off guard after a lot of the previous parts of the game that were kind of a walk in the park. You just don't expect them to show up, especially on Island.
Cinematics aren’t what make games art. Game mechanics, level design, enemy design, this is what makes games art. Sadly this line of thinking has been abandoned by the industry in favor of the modern audience
Well the OG RE do that cinematic thing in fact the remake doesn't do it that often instead of a glorified cutscene boss fight with Krauser for example you have to play it yourself using all the knife tricks you learn so far in the game!! This remake is nothing short of amazing and to Said otherwise if you like the OG is a desperate call for attention
meanwhile probably the only aspect that the OG does objectively better is the cinematics. Everything else is better in the Remake, if only because it had nearly 2 decades of gaming history to build off of.
One thing I noticed about og RE4 is that playing with a controller makes aiming a bit harder compared to PC but the game is more fun this way and makes QTE a bit more intense
Ashley ain't that bad, tbh. I even laugh my ass off when I die in front of her. Somehow, you can trigger a "pervert" line from Ashley if you die close to her skirt. 🤣
Yea i was never bothered by Ashley, trying to save her many times gave a unique challenge that never disgruntled me personally .. however, the Island section has always been a drag, and i personally feel the end boss Sadler is a huge letdown after all that hard work to complete the game. The ridiculously fun jet ski outro segment makes up for it though
@@Artesian_mirage I always liked the island segment :) the regenerators levels, the Krauser fight. Some things could have been handled better like the shovel (?) sequence with Ashley driving and like you said, the Sadler bossfight which was a big letdown. The Jetski end sequence was like a copy of DMC 1 flight scene at the end, which was quite awesome!
@@jells31 Yea gotta admit the Regenerators and the Krauser fight (or any moment with Krauser in that game) are standout moments for sure. I never played DMC but that's interesting the Jet Ski sequence was a copy paste to RE 4, so much stuff from the original designs of RE 4 that bled into different games at that time (Haunting Ground, DMC). Would still love to get a full version of the RE 3.5 Hookman version
Not to sound like too much of a consumer, but these remakes, not just in games, but in movies and tv as well are all collectively robbing younger generations of a pop-cultural identity. Literally hand me downs.
Yes, it's basically just painting 2020's paintjob of modernity on everything. Past should be revisited, not dragged over. Modern pop-culture is just becoming an edit/update of old.
@@attilamarics3374 Eh not always. My niece is into Wednesday so i showed her the old Addams family series and she called me retarded. To a certain extent i say fuck it let em enjoy the rehash. I fk w goth bitches tho so maybe this isn't a good example
remakes are done for two reasons: Lack of creativity, it has been removed due to upbringing and secondly, remakes are done to destroy cultural identity.
The shills and consoomers are gonna be out for your head on this one. But I agree. RE4 didn't need a Remake, the Remake sacrificed style for realism. The character designs and voice acting are a huge downgrade in the Remake. Krauser and Merchant sound awful. The OG dialogue was goofy fun, the new stuff feels like Netflix, tries too hard to be serious. Don't get me started on how much better faces looked in the original.
Here , i think a serious tone in a game isnt bad and since a long time we dont really got very serious and edgy games lately that are good or not remakes of other games. But RE4 wasnt a serious games and making it serious and so netflix-y just gonna make this game unfitting and very weird to have it. But at the end we got more RE4 out of it. Its definitly not the same game but a different one with the same overall construct.
Shin Mikami wrote the game's story in 3 weeks. He said if they remade the game he hopes they would re-do the story. The goofiness could've been a result of that. I don't mind the remake. The original is always there and now I find shit people complained about in the original are now looked on fondly. How quickly a lot of people changed their tune once a new version is out.
@xid Yes, the game re-released almost as much as Skyrim will get delisted. The game has been re-released so much even if it did get delisted on steam it wouldn’t be hard to play it anyway. Also, the original’s store page was updated (slightly). If they were planning to delist it I doubt they would’ve bothered.
@@Mr_Mistah OG Ashley looks like she’s 15. Honestly still get surprised when I remember she’s supposed to be 20. Also, have you actually met or even seen a 20 year old girl?…
This is why it always annoyed me when the fans frothed at the mouth when it deviated from horror sometimes. I dare say I didn’t even think the originals were all that scary. They never needed to be it was always about fun and characterization more so than getting people scared, people who just wanted to pee. Their pants could have just went to silent hill . A thing a lot of people don’t seem to remember is that resident evil four was pretty hated when it first came out for this reason, I wonder if those people to this day are feeling like morons as more and more people feel the game was a masterpiece that was ahead of its time.
escorting npcs is always tough, but at least ashley had a lot of cute moments and personality, and i mean, of all the moments in gaming i remember fondly, her calling for leon will forever be etched in my memory.
It's not. It's really thrilling game, but it's dissapointing as RE game. It's 8-9/10. I would give it 8/10. Too long to be replayable. OG RE 2 it's a real masterpiece.
As a French, it's funny to me, too as it sounds like one of the villagers always yells "my father puts his feet in the sauce pan" (in French: "mon père a mis les pieds dans la sauce"). Once you hear it, you can't un-hear it. (also moving from UK to Spain in a few months, can't wait to see what the Sun looks like, I heard it look like a big bright spot in the sky... I can't wait to see it with my own eyes)
The most wild thing about this review its the realization that there are people that not only havent played the og RE4, but will have the RE4R as the first experience of that game
It is crazy to think about, I still for one am excited for the remake. The biggest thing will be those first timers (usually normies) that will make things cringe.
@@kevlare-7324hats alright . I mean at the end we get more RE4 . But what really drives me nuts are that people suddenly replace the OG with the remake and think the OG is "outdated" . Are Tank-controls outdated ? Not really but i wouldnt say the controls are for everything and i would think about it how to use them and in which ganes they are perfectly made . For Horror games its great , even platformers like OG tomb raider has with those controls depth and complexity in itself.. Tank-controls are a different kind of control-concept that has its own cool aspects but as long as people think in consoomer-logic , they wont understand it and even hate it .
@@Snyperwolf91 I’ll always love RE4 (Hell I’m playing it as I type this to you) and anyone who likes the remake, new fan or old should play the original!
The remake was good, but they dialed Leon’s one liners back to not offend people like” ha, women” or “taking orders from women is not my style”. Those lines gave the sense of badass and didn’t gaf.
"Badass is when casual misogyny" is such a weird gamer brain thing that makes no sense. And also, you picked literally the worst one liners he said in the original game. Not "Your right hand comes off" or "No thanks, bro!".
@@scruffopone3989 those lines are good too but, Leon’s OG badass character would not give a fuck about people that get offended with “bADaSs is cAsual MisOgyny” so he wouldn’t abide by PC culture

I still remember the first time I played RE4. It was an experience I'll never forget. The atmosphere and level design, the fun and self-aware B-movie plot, the powerful weapons, the creepy bosses and effective enemies (screw the Regenerator!), the great characters, and the setpieces that surprised 10-year old me... Gotta agree with Synth Man here: this game is perfect.
The first time I played it on PS2 I got stuck on that part with Regenerators, barely had any ammo left and couldn't figure out to equip the Thermal scope, then the disc broke. Beat the game few years later on PC. Amazing game with so many ideas and so much style. They really knocked it out of the park in 2005.
@@Disconnect350 I'm gonna hate them even after I die. I spent so many tries trying to figure out how to escape the room, and like you I didn't know you HAD to use the thermal scope .
Just finished the original RE4 this morning and after beating it, I literally said, "that game is a masterpiece." It is as fun a game as I have ever played and I think it aged very well. Also, I laughed out loud every time I accidentally shot Ashley and Leon just sinks down to his knees with his hands over his face.
I did the same thing a few days ago to refresh my memory so I can compare the remake as I play it. So far, I've been enjoying it. The new mechanics are a very welcoming addition to the game. Love the options to using stealth or just go gung-ho.
Why I think RE4 works so well is because it has perfect pacing. There isn't a section in this game that is dull or too frustrating. Pretty much ever other videogame that I know has those sections. Of course that doesn't make it my favorite game in the series, it used to be so until I played the RE1 and 2 remakes which I started to like better because I that's the gameplay style that I want from Resident Evil. But as far as action games go, this is one of the best definitely.
I hate what they did with cinematography in the re4 remake, not only they do take the story more seriously and it doesn't works, but also they ruined the original 80s action movie script and replaced it with a mediocre voice acting lacking charisma in every way possible; somehow, despite having better graphics, they made everything more claustrophobic and less iconic in composition and visual design, and the camera is obnoxiously close to the player like every goddamn sony-movie game. Yet people call this remake a "masterpiece" that's better than the original. Fuck modern gaming.
so we're just lying now? is that it? cuz when you wrote this the game hadn't come out yet and as of writing this comment I am halfway through the castle and I can tell you right now almost everything you just said is completely wrong
@@bunkflunk Wrong exactly how? It doesn't take a genius to figure out how cluttered the level design is, that the voice acting is a downgrade for every character in the game and the script, and camera angles and anything related to cinematic presentation, is amateurish in visual composition and direction. Its pretty common that modern gaming doesn't understand what visual clarity is, and with that said, no wonder why many people gets lost when comes to what direction to take in the levels (despite being really simple like in the original game). Also the over textured environment and zoomed-in camera makes every damn bear trap blend and really hard to see. The original game didn't had those issues; even the Re 2 Remake had this principle of 'clarity' really fleshed out.
It definitely didn’t need to be remade, but at the same time it’s not even the same game. The tone, atmosphere, gameplay, level design, story, characters, all similar in ways, but distinctly separate from the original. I really enjoyed my time with the remake, and even if you don’t like it, you have to admit there is quality behind it. I’ve played though the original countless times since the GameCube and it will always be a game I’ll come back to. But I also think I’ll come back to the remake, I really enjoyed it.
My guess is he'll give credit where credit is due. remakes are just always a difficult topic cus ya have the direct comparison to the source material, and to some people it's more important to enjoy a game in it's original state, bug and performance fixes aside.
Remake is a masterpiece of its own. Sure, it lost a lot of charm from the original since the remake is a more serious game but still I really liked how they made certain levels more entertaining and cohesive, the level design is top notch and Island doesn't drag so much like in the OG, where there's just too much going on. There is only one problem with the remake for me, it tried to be TOO serious while RE4 was always praised for its campiness. Salazar is no longer as funny as he was in the OG, he's quite forgettable to be honest because not only he doesn't show up as often, his interactions with Leon aren't as comedic as they used to be. Making him a more serious villain unfortunately took away everything that he was known and liked for. Saddler also is a huge downgrade, we meet him in person only on the Island and he's now very generic bad, religious guy. He hasn't got this mystical aura about him and his face seems kinda generic too, his old look was much more memorable. Yeah, the remake is great but it's also an example that sometimes giving a game more serious tone doesn't really work with certain aspects of it.
Ashley is actually a good addition to RE4 because it makes you go out of your powerhouse zone and look after someone else, not only continuing RE tradition with companions but also biting your empathy, especially if you're a guy (not simping, just basic protection skills lol). Gameplay wise she works perfectly even without dumpsters, making you watch your back and be alert. I'm surprised you think it's a bad addition to the game, since it really does add a new situation for you to play through, and not a bad one at all if you think about it.
@@librepensador9060 not really, he enjoys a good challenge, which is why it baffled me that he hates on Ashley too, but well yea it's not a crime to have an opinion
Yea, its funny when he said RE4 is masterpiece but hating on OG Ashley--a big aspect of RE4 itself. How come its masterpiece if you hate one of its main thing? When I played this, never once I hated Ashley, thats why I kinda shock about most players opinion on her. It is a chalengge to me as a player if I failed because she is dead or capture.
I just finished watching GmanLives review of RE4 Remake, and hearing him criticize the og game felt odd. Yeah RE4 has some issues, but it still holds up amazingly well. He even trashed the goofiness despite the fact that it's meant to be a dumb B movie and the campiness is what gives Resident Evil its charm. And of course, like most modern game reviewers, he mocked fans that criticized the female designs and not being able to look up Ashley's skirt; it's like he's becoming another Angry Joe.
Finding trustworthy one-man-show RUclipsrs, that get review codes, is hard, if they exist. Unlike a website which has separate departments, a solo RUclipsr -the person reviewing the game- is the same one that has to play buddy-buddy with PR to get early copies in the first place. There’s an obvious conflict of interest, which is why “access journalism” is an oxymoron. There’s a threat of accidentally biting the hand that feeds you. So these big RUclips reviewers are much more likely to downplay criticisms or that issues are “personal, but won’t affect other people”. They don’t want to pi$$ off those companies (or the people in charge of hanging out review copies, which could partly be why some reviewers are more political, because the people in charge of review codes are). And because they only make reviews, and nothing else, if they don’t get early access, no one will watch them. Their “audience” isn’t really there for the RUclipsr. It’s just that RUclipsrs are more personable than watching an IGN or GameSpot review, but most RUclips early access reviewers are more or less interchangeable still. So if these RUclipsrs were a week or even a few days late with a review, most people would skip because they only watched them for early access, and already watched someone else by that point. So the largest RUclips review channels will also have the softest reviews, because they only got so big by getting early access. Not because they grew organically from people wanting to hear their opinion.
The worst part about these modern RE remakes is that they took RE2, 3 and 4, three pretty different games, and homogenized them into being borderline romhacks of one another. It's such a goddamn shame. Especially since RE2 and 3 have been mostly lost to time unless you emulate them.
Agreed I wish they used different engines each time not just the same RE Engine , RE4 especially Is not supposed to look or play like anything close to RE2 or RE3 yet they made the Remakes very similar In many ways.
I view it as an easy way to get modern audiences up with the general story/lore, a lot of people who liked RE4 never liked RE1/2/3 because of the differences in gameplay but with the remakes it kinda balanced that out.
It's a crime they removed the ballistics line part from the game. We really need to stop this fear of sounding misogynistic bullshit. Not every joke needs to have a debate around it, this generation is soo soulless that they forgot how to laugh and have a good time. Everything is offensive now
Tank controls in survival horror games make the game more intense, which in turn makes your decisions carry more weight, which makes the game more scary. Imo
I started playing Dead Space 1 a few days ago and I already love the game, I am talking about the original from 2008. RE4 might not be for me but the legacy it has created can not be ignored because thanks to RE4 we got Dead Space.
Finally enough I played dead space 1 last year loved it for the first time too Of course the original Planning on doing the max difficulty can’t wait to do it even if I have my but kicked I’m still doing it
Not only that, but RE4 kind of revolutionized third-person shooters in general. Even something like Uncharted and The Last of Us have RE4 to thank for their success
I can't believe they didn't remake Code Veronica instead. It's literally a mainline game. I don't care about the stupid opinions around it's quality, it wasn't a great RE game but it was still pretty good at the time but a remake would have been great. The worst part is that they 100% refused to make a CV Remake because of the cross-dressing dude lmao. I hate nu-Capcom so much
It was literally a homage to the twist in Pyscho but trans activists aren't very big on context and they new people would complain if they changed the twist so they just decide not to make it.
I agree that this game is an absolute masterpiece. But i do not agree with your complaints about Ashley. Its literally your mission in the game to save her, so its completely understandable all of the sections that take place with her. Its not a flaw in the game, its literally just you whining that you don’t want to do what you’re supposed to do in the game which is saving her.
Ashley even during the forced escort parts aren’t really a big deal. She’s constantly taken away by the ganados and even during times you are forced to have her stick with you, she stays with you and I’ve never shot her unless it was intentional. Only part of the game she can be unbearable is the water room in the beginning of the castle, where the shield guys will kill her with no attempt to just pick her up. Her only purpose is just to have more convenient sequences that wouldn’t make sense if you were by yourself.
I find people who complain about her to be more annoying than Ashley herself tbh. This is not an original criticism, people have been bitching about her for almost 20 years now and still hearing it now is just a bit pathetic.
I had Ashley get taken by one of the cultists. He was carrying her down the stairs and I had a perfect shot at his legs. At the last second he descended one more step and I shot Ashley square in the back of the head. All I could do was laugh.
When it comes to Ashley I have had no issue in the remake. The one time I felt she was annoying (and I’m trying to avoid spoilers here for those that haven’t played the remake yet) I didn’t realize that I could keep her from getting caught or hit by just trying a different strategy. I actually like the new lines of dialogue her and Leon have adding a bit more to her personality. I did end of shooting her once though I was using the pistol that shot through the ganado that was carrying her (sorry drawing a brain fart on the exact pistol and immediately realized it lol. I do understand some things were cut here and it’s not as campy as the og release but I’m enjoying it for what it is. Honestly I like the changes as more grounded tone of the remake. Without it being a 1-1 remake it leaves reason to still go play the og release for those few cuts and campy tone. I can’t say I like the remake more than the og because the og version is special to me for nostalgic reasons but I am glad the remake was made for a new generation and hopefully some who may not have played the og version will go give it a chances to see the differences many have talked about but I’m loving taking my time with the remake. A lot of the changes and tweaks and new sections have me on my toes with the tension just like the og version. Both the og and the remake deserve a place today in my opinion and maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I wouldn’t mind seeing an re5 remake with this treatment if capcom decides to. The remake may not ever be considered as good as the og but to me re4 from 2005 is lightning in a bottle that can’t be replicated but the remake here comes as close as you can get in my opinion and as far as remakes one of the best remakes of an older game I have ever played.
Synth man: "they showed you a gay episode to spite you" Everyone else: "that episode was weird but I shifted with the overton window so I'm fine with it" The creators: "we made that episode to force right wingers to watch gay stuff lol" (almost word for word) Synth man is just stating the obvious... which is a great quality to have when everyone else is afraid of doing so... I see most other reviewers as spineless nowadays. They literally were subjected to a very clear and easily identifiable pattern for Dead Space's posters... And everyone pretends not to see it... Even though the human brain is probably the most advanced pattern recognition machine in the Solar system ^-^ "A black female in front of EVERY poster? No, I don't think that's a pattern, why do you ask?"... Last week, I saw a collage of all the white actors that have been black washed... That thing was huge, somehow, everyone else is just "no, these are just coincidences... that keep coinciding... again... and again... and again..." ahahahaha But somehow, they can hear the tiniest racist dog whistle from the most innocuous sentences... All that to say: Everyone is pretending, out of fear. Synth man has the balls to call a spade, a spade.

Remakes are just lazy and take advantage of nostalgia to generate money. Most people want new games and experiences. Most fans have played re4 so many times that the remake just isn’t worth the £60 tag especially when the game can be beaten in 8hrs and the DLC removed probably paid dlc
The art direction and character models are much better in the Original. Remake's faces look weird. Hell, Mendez in the og has more detail than in The Remake.
Yeah I noticed when playing the demo they just dumped a ton of random clutter everywhere. Like I saw the same set of horn charms dangling from strings like 3 times in the first house alone and it really broke immersion for me
The original RE4 has a 'realism' vibe to it, like it feels it could be a small mountainous community in northern Spain. The horror aspect isn't overdone & many of the areas just come across like a desolate Spanish countryside, hillside, church, castle etc. The remake meanwhile goes full in horror artstyle with super high contrast, creepiness & darkness everywhere.
the problem with games and movies today is the lack of originality. They guarantee themselves by making Remakes and Remasters of hits from the past. Of course the new RE4 will be very profitable, is a masterpiece, but better. Capcom was in trouble some years ago but they learned to sell nostalgia, there are great new games for sure, but how many new IP's have you seen lately?
13:56 This scene was just straight up hilarious, I even remember my Mother and brothers watching me play the remake mimicking the line when we ran into Luis during the remake cabin. They sat there joking around saying "welp, gonna need to take a few points off review net for that one!" While my mom even joked back and said "no game of the year now." Resident Evil 4 2005 and it's charm was so amazing, and although I understand Capcom wanting to pursue a more serious story, but if people are really throwing the misogynist card on a game that was never made to be taken seriously then I don't know what to say at that point! The term master peice has been thrown around too much. Games I would consider master peices are games like Metal Gear 3, Devil May Cry 3 , Halo 3 (lots of 3s ), Resident Evil 4 ,Castlevania Symphony Of The Night and the orginal DOOM, Dark Souls 1. And whats the thing all these games have in common? they prioritized fun gameplay first.
I love the cheesiness of RE4. Being that it was originally gonna be Devil May Cry, there is just something about the game that strikes a perfect middle. I swear to Multiple Gods in my Like 6 Playthroughs of the Original RE 4 I NEVER had any Problem with the Tank Controls. And the 60 fps on Gamecube were amazing. 18 year old Today Will Never Understand how Big this Game was in 2005. Only GTA San Andreas was more important.
Resident Evil 4 didn't need gameplay "upgraded". The new game looks so slow, and I don't know (maybe I'm the minority here) but the censorship of Ada and Ashley just feels weird to me 🤷♂
@@bunkflunk Sorry for the late reply, but the drastic change to Leon's character, the drastic change to gameplay, the DRASTIC change to Ada's and Ashley's characters, the hilarious downgrade of the writing, the absolute rape of Salazar's character, the destruction of the original tone, the bad movement etc etc.
honestly re4 didn't need remake, but if capcom made a remake to their 2nd and third game, why stop there? the remakes' purpose is literally just to give access to these masterpieces to a new younger audience. so, when people bash the originals for their controls....i mean what the fuck were you expecting, re4 was made in 2005, it was essentially the pioneer of 3rd person shooters. also, capcom needs games to keep the timeline consistent with their newer games. but Imo re5 and re6 most definitely need remakes, they could fix up the stories and gameplay, because those were the games that honestly just needed a do over and some constructive criticize to make perfect.
I'm pretty sure that Crapcom will delist this game from every platform in the near future. The soulless remake will be the only available version going forward.
Resident Evil Code Veronica is my personal favorite because it has such an insane story. Alfred cross dressing as his sister Alexia because he couldnt stand to be away from her while she underwent experiments to become an ultimate being. The implications that Alfred and Alexia may have been in love with each other. That game had some serious balls.
2005 Resident Evil 4 is B movie joy at it finest, 2023 Resident Evil 4 doesn't seem to know what it want to be some time (also what the fuck is with Ada's voice?)
I was cautiously optimistic about the remake before I played the demo, but came away unsatisfied. On the surface it seems like a fairly faithful remake but there are lots of little things that felt off to me. The aesthetic is overly grimdark, I don't like the character designs, and every environment is cluttered with pointless detail, necessitating the obnoxious yellow tape over everything you can interact with. The intro is slowed down, the first enemy encounter is a cutscene and not gameplay. Making the knife breakable was a stupid change. The guns don't feel as good to use as in the original and Leon controls like he's in a swimming pool; yes the original had clunky controls but nothing like this. I also experienced bad performance on my PS4 and technically the game is quite ugly, with blurry textures and enemies flickering when more than a few feet away. Didn't mean to write such a long comment, please be patient I have autism.
Resident Evil 4 was ahead of its time to be fair. I literally fell in love with the game ever since i played it and now its been about 10 year since i first played it
We don't " need" ice cream or pizza, but still awesome to have it Same way we don't "need" this remake. But i am very happy we got it . Some positivity on a title for once man😂 Would be way happier with code Veronica remake thought
No it did not need a remake and the remake won't replace it. On the other hand I don't mind them, they're like crazy experiments that help keep my interest in the survival horror genre. I'm sure I'll be annoyed at some of the changes but if they don't sour my enjoyment then the game will be good. Not like Twin Snakes.🤢 Also if we get an option to keep that sweet, sweet jacket I'll be happy. 😁
I sometimes forget stealth exists in remake ( and og to some degree ) in very specific locations it might help but I don't see anyone relying on it or trying to use it
Modern AAA/AA studios don't realize that we don't always want full remakes of classic games. Graphical facelifts are what we truly want, because remaking a PS2 title on a modern engine won't give it the same feel. For example, I would love a graphical facelift of Burnout 3 and Hot Pursuit 2, but I know that those games are so old that they would HAVE to be remade on a newer engine, but A) I don't trust EA to tie their own shoe muchtheless make a working video game, and B) like I said modern engines can't recapture the feel of older engines. The time to remaster classic PS2 game was in that 7th generation lineup. But now the time has passed and game studios are doing everything they can to hop back on the trend, but each "remake" flops like never before seen. But that's just the core problems. I could go on for hours about how the useless censorship and forceful Wokeism are the icing on the cake that ruin the whole experience, but you all know the gist. Blah blah subversive Marxism blah blah Yuri Bezmenov, etc etc. I just want good games again, man.
Feel like this with the remake of FF7. A massive part of the appeal of the OG game were the amazing pre-rendered backdrops and the remake doesn't have them. The remake is hardly ugly (except in a few obvious places) but it fails to capture the same magic the original had. I would have preferred the remake just update the game into HD with widescreen support, with maybe new character models and a few QOL changes, not the subversive fever dream that actually came out.
@@gabagool6572 In FF7 Remake's defense however, that game isn't really a remake, but more of a sequel (granted Squeenix played us all like a damn fiddle, and thats a whole other can of worms...)
@xid I put the blame for the changes solely on Nomura. He openly said he makes decisions based on how surprising they are, not how much they make sense or how good the surprises actually are.

Ashley is never as bad as everyone says she is. Besides her solo part she stayed out of my way the whole time. I never get why people made such a big deal out of her. The regenerators too. People made them out to be the scariest things alive but you can easily kill them all. Also some areas drag on a bit like the island area
Ashley is only bad in one section of the game I agree.
The island is like the shortest part of the game?
Cinematics aren’t what make games art. Game mechanics, level design, enemy design, this is what makes games art. Sadly this line of thinking has been abandoned by the industry in favor of the modern audience
Less masculine audience that hates difficulty and criticism
Well the OG RE do that cinematic thing in fact the remake doesn't do it that often instead of a glorified cutscene boss fight with Krauser for example you have to play it yourself using all the knife tricks you learn so far in the game!! This remake is nothing short of amazing and to Said otherwise if you like the OG is a desperate call for attention
Being gay is what makes it art, to the "modern audience."
So mature. So complex.
meanwhile probably the only aspect that the OG does objectively better is the cinematics.

@@jells31 Yea gotta admit the Regenerators and the Krauser fight (or any moment with Krauser in that game) are standout moments for sure.

@@MultiKamil97 so much problem but the remake is still a masterpiece? what a fucking retard

@@LeadMe2TheBliss So did i :)
Her only purpose is just to have more convenient sequences that wouldn’t make sense if you were by yourself.
unless it was intentional xD
I find people who complain about her to be more annoying than Ashley herself tbh. This is not an original criticism, people have been bitching about her for almost 20 years now and still hearing it now is just a bit pathetic.
Yeah, what is the problem with difficulty in games? Many outlet reviewers complaining when they encounter a bit of difficulty..

Everyone else: "that episode was weird but I shifted with the overton window so I'm fine with it"
The creators: "we made that episode to force right wingers to watch gay stuff lol" (almost word for word)
Synth man is just stating the obvious... which is a great quality to have when everyone else is afraid of doing so...
I see most other reviewers as spineless nowadays. They literally were subjected to a very clear and easily identifiable pattern for Dead Space's posters... And everyone pretends not to see it... Even though the human brain is probably the most advanced pattern recognition machine in the Solar system ^-^
"A black female in front of EVERY poster? No, I don't think that's a pattern, why do you ask?"...
Last week, I saw a collage of all the white actors that have been black washed... That thing was huge, somehow, everyone else is just "no, these are just coincidences... that keep coinciding... again... and again... and again..." ahahahaha
But somehow, they can hear the tiniest racist dog whistle from the most innocuous sentences...

I bought this game when it came out for GameCube. I was absolutely amazed, the graphics in this game were insane for 2005. I don’t know if this game “invented” it but this game at least popularized the “over the shoulder camera” for third person games, I think I heard someone say splinter cell did it first but splinter cell only had over the shoulder camera when aiming, this game had it all the time just like we see in most games today.
Insane graphics? Compare this to REmake1 or 0 which came out years before 4 and they genuinely hold up to this day.

That and 75% of the characters being changed for the worse.
It's updated for modern audiences
Lack of gore or any kind of violence in 18+ games other than guns and mean words, progressive characters that swear every 2 sentences, shallow and pretentious world building and lore, basic gameplay and underwhelming content at launch. So true
They've finally ran out of ideas, so now they'll reboot games like Hollywood is remaking old movies.
the problem with games and movies today is the lack of originality. They guarantee themselves by making Remakes and Remasters of hits from the past. honestly re4 didn't need remake, but if capcom made a remake to their 2nd and third game, why stop there? the remakes' purpose is literally just to give access to these masterpieces to a new younger audience. so, when people bash the originals for their controls....i mean what the fuck were you expecting, re4 was made in 2005, it was essentially the pioneer of 3rd person shooters. also, capcom needs games to keep the timeline consistent with their newer games. but Imo re5 and re6 most definitely need remakes, they could fix up the stories and gameplay, because those were the games that honestly just needed a do over and some constructive criticize to make perfect.

Feel like this with the remake of FF7. A massive part of the appeal of the OG game were the amazing pre-rendered backdrops and the remake doesn't have them. I would have preferred the remake just update the game into HD with widescreen support, with maybe new character models and a few QOL changes, not the subversive fever dream that actually came out.
