Hi Jo. Very nice review, as always ! I was expecting it. I had an OP1 and 2 but I bought a Sony ZV1 following your channel and great tips about it. As stabilisation was crap, I ended up with a gimbal. And an external mic, and a wide angle… which , at the end of the day, was making a big bag of tools around such a small camera. As I also always carry an Actioncam (Action 4) and a drone , it was too big and heavy for vacation trips and a motorcycle road trip I did last year. Went back to the OP3 creative combo and now all fits in a light package. Absolutely no regret about the ZV1 . I lost the real zoom lens and some great features, but the versatility , stability and low profile of the OP3 is really a plus.and image quality is equivalent (even better due to 10k) and sound much better. Regarding your remark on the ND filters and the fact that the head does not store properly, you’re partially right: I agree that the camera head does not store in its self protective position, but if you don’t remove the ND filter, the head will detect it and store (and lock) itself in a 90* position which will still allow you to store the OP3 in its native case. So no need to always remove the filter. Kind regards. Phil
It's crazy how good the OP3 is. I wish I saw it before I bought the ZV-1 again. I've been blown away by the quality of the footage. I hope I can pick it up soon. It would be great as a location scouting camera for my projects.
What a great point about location scouting. As far as ZV-1, I’d say OP3 beats it out in stabilization but ZV-1 has way more controllability with all its buttons and exposure tools
Great info. I believe the histogram and highlights can be seen on the OP3 screen. You'll have to go into the manual exposure section to pop it onto the screen.
@@thefilmalliance Have gone through it now and I definitely think it was a great help and worth it, but I wish you would elaborate more on how the ND filters would affect the presets. With the Pocket 1 and 2, you were able to run a cable from the pocket to the smart phone and it would connect directly to the app on the phone. Not sure why they took that away. Maybe they could put it back in with a firmware update .
Why do you feel you have to use DJI’s tote bag? I’m still shooting with the pocket 2 and I have mine plus accessories plus a go pro in a small tech bag comfortably.
The case was tight for the 1st month but it actually loosened up and fits everything perfectly for me now. Still looks good and held up well. It just needed a little stretch time.
@@thefilmalliance yeah it's not perfect, but you know what it's better than anything else on the market in this type of camera I've compared to footage with my GoPro 10 which has digital stabilisation built into it I've even compared it to my XT5 and honestly, it holds its own. The beauty of this camera is it portability it's so small and so light and it's easy to use so I think that's the selling point of this camera not so much everything else it's the portability of it. I was thinking of picking one of these up but I’m poor again after preordering a X100VI 😂 That’s if I can ever get it from all those preorders Fuji had.
By most accounts, this is a great camera, and those accounts are what keeps it on backorder. But it strikes me (some have said this) as rather fragile. Fragile is one thing I would find unacceptable in a carry-around camera. And I really have to wonder, can a single camera really be the end all and be all of cameras? Can it be used for capturing still images (individually, not from a video stream)? Might it be a very discrete street shooter? Easier to use than cell phone, larger censor….

Hello, thanks to share this wonderful video. A need a questio please: I do video editing, I have used and continue to use the Log a lot with other more professional cameras and I am very satisfied. The ND filters are great as a screen protector, I never remove them. Happy birthday and I think this would be an excellent camera for product reviews on RUclips. Just don’t go closer than 11 inches because that’s what its minimum focus distance is. But you could scale in pretty close with that 4K footage and get the macro shot.
Hi! thanks for a great review, i'm planning on purchasing the OP3 soon and as well as might dive into your course to help me with the basics as well - what SD card do you recommend for the pocket 3?
Great Video! I just got the OP3, and I'm really loving it! I saw in your video that you had the OP1 with Micro 4th Axis, have you tried it with the OP3? Or any other 4th Axis stabilizer?
Thank you for this. I’ll have to look into purchasing some of those. I would hate to have to put on and takeoff and filters every single time I turn the Osmo pocket on.
Won't B&H let you keep the camera after such a great and thorough review? I imagine it would help them sell a lot! I love mine- in fact I'm afraid I'll be neglecting my Sony a7C and other cameras a lot!
@@thefilmalliance You are most welcome! If you keep in touch with DJI, perhaps they'll send you some sort of gift someday. I was having trouble with an Insta360 Go 2 which I'd bought over a year ago, because of bluetooth connectivity, and we kept sending the unit back and forth, replacing, etc., yet still, the same problem! Finally (after almost a year!), they gave me a deal on a Go 3 (which I think is much better), just having had to pay the difference, plus they sent a mic adapter as a gift, and an eventual gift box with some little odds and ends. Anyway, once again, a very impressive, pro-looking review! I hope DJI at least sees it!
Straight to D-LogM ? No consideration for HLG, which is also 10-bit.? The spec for D-LogM has not been published, so color grading is to some extent guesswork. Davinci Resolve does not have a Color Space Transform for it, for example. On the other hand, HLG is well understood. Color space and dynamic range are just as good as anything that D-LogM can provide, and in my experience it is much easier to deal with, and the results are just as good. I'm a recent convert to HLG, Rec2100.
My problem is not everyone has HLG monitors so SD viewers will see major over exposure on their screens. HLG is more of a future profile when most people have upgraded screens - at least that’s what I think.
Most people don't possess a D-LogM monitor either. In fact they can't because the D-LogM spec has not been published, unlike the HLG spec which has. It's Rec2100. You shouldn't be advising people if you don't know or understand what this means. If you know how to set this up in Davinci Resolve, then you will be able to grade the full 10-bit color and dynamic range properly and without guesswork and still output it to Rec709 or whatever color space you want ot need.
@@grahamfjlaws6108 I can color grade my D-Log M footage from my OP3 on DaVinci Resolve (V 19.0.1 build 6) and get the Rec709 V1 that you are referring to. I mean DJI offer that file to download.
Your op3 appears particularly unresponsive, I think mine isn't as bad, as for the creator pouch, I can fit all the pack accessories and the op3 in his protective case but you need to find the right spot for each to be able to close it, at first it was really tight! Great video! :)
Aha, thank you. Yes my OP3 was not the best when it came to touchscreen. Could be the firmware? Anyway, thanks for the heads up on that. I’ll have to reposition everything and re-try
I’ve had one of these since Nov/2023. It’s generally OK, but frequently doesn’t point where I want it to point. I find that really annoying! Also, the zoom is poor and difficult to use while panning at the same time.
Oh wow, I didn’t think about zoom and pan at the same time. Thanks for letting me know. Have you updated the firmware for the not pointing where you want it to problem?
@@thefilmalliance Mine is as up to date as possible I believe. After spending around £600 on the combo kit I expected perfection. Sadly it’s not as good as I expected. As for picture quality and ease of use it’s great, but I always get pissed off when something doesn’t work quite right.
Oh ok, thanks for letting me know. Someone said they flip the OP3 upside down or something so the protective case is looking up? I’ll have to reposition and try it out
@@thefilmalliance the way the camera is flip isnt the issue so put the camera in normally, the battery handle in the middle section then the tripod handle on top of it then the mic in the left or right middle section then the same for the extra handle. And you’ll still have space over the other side for smaller stuff🫡
I’ve owned the 3 pockets and I love them. Be able to film great 4k footage in the street with this small piece of gear that nobody notice is great. The OP2 compared to the OP1 has a better stabilization due to the wider angle I guess but the colors are not nicer. The OP3 have this superb screen,a better dynamic range (less burnt sky) and the battery life seems to have increased. Version after version the case is getting worst. The OP1 case was great. The OP2 was just kept in place by the pressure of the plastic case… The OP3 has a shitty case that doesn’t seem to protect a lot. With the OP2,at the end of a pan,I had to gently turn opposite to stop the pan. With the OP3,I noticed that if U do this, the camera will move in the opposite direction. u must just stop the pan abruptly and do nothing else. I would like to try the insta360 ace pro with this new rotating screen that makes it easy to use discreetly. The OP is really a great tool.
@thefilmalliance yes but I am not a cinematic videast ,I just use the battery stick. I just make holiday movies and I dont even use the DJI mic 2 included in the combo...a pity!
Not necessarily. The FX3 / A7Siii are considered “old” but are still selling well and there still isn’t anything on the market that performs better. The OP3 is going to be relevant for a long time - it’s seriously an awesome piece of kit.
Something worth noting for vertical content- it's possible to flick the camera sideways/onto it's side with the display in landscape mode, and you can record full 4k60 vertical without the video cropping in. Sometimes the camera doesn't want to switch into the right mode when you do that and it'll say gimbal has reached it's movement limits or whatever

Hi! thanks for a great review, i'm planning on purchasing the OP3 soon and as well as might dive into your course to help me with the basics as well - what SD card do you recommend for the pocket 3?
Hi Hannah, that would be great. I left the proper SD card in the description. I’m excited for you to get your OP3
Awesome video!💯🙏🏾
Thank you
Great Video! I just got the OP3, and I'm really loving it! I saw in your video that you had the OP1 with Micro 4th Axis, have you tried it with the OP3? Or any other 4th Axis stabilizer?
Not yet, the 4th axis I have only works for the smaller OP1. I should get that for the OP3 though. Thanks
The BRDRC and Neewer ND filters are small enough to turn off the Osmo without removing them.😉
Thank you for this.
Thanks Joe, I wish but I ended up just buying it from them because that’s how much I like it
@@thefilmalliance You are most welcome!
Why everyone use dlog-m and not HLG?
HLG is good for people who own HLG monitors. Some people have monitors that will make the HLG footage over exposed
the questions that were answered...you know that's what we want..
Yes, thank you.
Very well done, thanks for this.
Yes, its cool how we are all in the same boat learning as we go. Thanks for the comment.
I pack mines back very easily its just how you place back the stuff in the case.
Great review, New sub, Keep these coming
Will do, thanks
It is criminal that this video has not hit 1 million views!
It’s all good, I had fun with that video. Thanks
Damn this look like Tallahassee ,FL
It's regularly in stock at Best Buy
Nice, just got op3
That’s great, keep me posted how it goes
Best Buy has the cameras. I ordered it
Wow thanks for the heads up
everything fits in the bag.
It’s a very tight fit - too tight
@@thefilmalliance no it's not. when I have time I'll make ya a how to video.
@@InspectorDopethat’d be great thanks
great video
I’ve owned the 3 pockets and I love them.
Be able to film great 4k footage in the street with this small piece of gear that nobody notice is great.
The OP2 compared to the OP1 has a better stabilization due to the wider angle I guess but the colors are not nicer.
The OP3 have this superb screen,a better dynamic range (less burnt sky) and the battery life seems to have increased.
Version after version the case is getting worst.
The OP1 case was great.
The OP2 was just kept in place by the pressure of the plastic case…
The OP3 has a shitty case that doesn’t seem to protect a lot.
You have a lot of experience with the OP lineup. Did you get the OP3 creator combo kit?
@thefilmalliance yes but I am not a cinematic videast ,I just use the battery stick.
I just make holiday movies and I dont even use the DJI mic 2 included in the combo...a pity!
You down with OP3!?
I’m down with the OP3
So would you recommend me?
Yes
Great video 👍
I appreciate that
Everything new gets hyped until something new & better comes along
Not necessarily. The FX3 / A7Siii are considered “old” but are still selling well and there still isn’t anything on the market that performs better. The OP3 is going to be relevant for a long time - it’s seriously an awesome piece of kit.
What a great point
The question is not "is the hype real". But, is DJI as a business real? Why is the DJI pocket 3 forever always "out of stock"?
It continues to sell out when they get more in stock. Just like the PS5.
It’s never out of stock lol
Bro I just picked mine up had to do an open box cause EVERRRRRYYYUWHERE is sold out lol
Cause it's that popular 😂
Ordered mine from amazon no problem
I just bought mine
And I’m gonna take your course
Awesome
Excited for you. Enjoy !
Man I been trying to get mine the next 2 shipment are spoken for
I hear ya
Ps connecting to my phone is way better
I’m not a fan of connecting my phone unless in certain circumstances
Something worth noting for vertical content- it's possible to flick the camera sideways/onto it's side with the display in landscape mode, and you can record full 4k60 vertical without the video cropping in. Sometimes the camera doesn't want to switch into the right mode when you do that and it'll say gimbal has reached it's movement limits or whatever
What a great hack. I’ve got to try that. Thanks Alex
Wow❤❤❤
Thanks for the motivation.
Why do all the p3 review video titles always say Is it worth the hype?
To figure out if it’s worth the hype
its a game changer for real, it just feels like cheating with how easy it makes shooting high quality footage,
Yes, I can't agree more. Im trying to figure out how the 1-inch sensor has such great dynamic range?
I agree! I love being able to record in a matter of a few seconds.
Pocket 3 is much more lighter like iphone ! Something is wrong with video from train station
Which shot looked wrong? iPhone or OP3?
Yooo who tf is this dude droppin bangers?
Dangggg son. Tell us what cameras you have. Thanks Cody
I'm returning mine.... I prefer my cell phone much better
Please tell me why
Not stable enough specifically when walking.
I just bought it, and I got it to replace my ZV1, tsss I am still not sure if I will replace it, will see in a couple of days
I’m putting that exact video out tomorrow! Osmo Pocket 3 vs ZV-1
@@thefilmalliancecool, will see
