This recording needs to be sent out into space to prove that we weren't all complete idiots before the inevitable end.
Felt 🦾🪂
that's CRAZY. It sounds like the drummer is playing this one big drum fill through the whole song
palm deserves this production on every one of their songs
real talk. this is perfection
str8 🆙
I can't wrap my head around the fact that this dude got a budget guitar to sound like a steel drum, I've been listening to this song all day and had no idea.
MIDI pickups
I want to sit down with this band and have them explain to me how they wrote that whole album. Fucking phenomenal performance
these far out sessions are literally movies and its awesome
this is so impressive to watch since each member has to stick super tight on their part, the rhythm section is off in another world compared to the singer's and their guitars. and in the way they approach that dissonance it creates a sort of unity. So insane.
Corporate Greed That's why they're my favorite band ever. So good.
Well said
These Far Out sessions are all so incredibly good, and this is probably my favorite one yet!
audiotree soundmix is a killer as always...Palm sounds great in this Far Out session...Far Out, one of the best concept ever among all the live sessions / studio play florishing a bit everywhere...Continue, you are "la creme de la creme"
Palm for President
This honestly sounds a lot different than the album version and I love both
where can you find that rendition of heavy lifting that plays at the beginning?
I’m pretty sure it was just a warmup before starting the song
honestly how do any of them do it
i could listen to that outro forever, such a great groove and bass line.
I was thinking the same thing! Actually almost fell asleep listening to it
Ima need a rig rundown
magical midi pickup
Here's what I remember of their gear at end of last summer:
Kasra:
One of those Boss/Roland "Guitar Processor" MIDI pickups
That runs MIDI into some cheap FM keyboard (Casio?) with marimba, steel pan and saxophone sounds
Boss TU-3
ZVex Box of Rock (Possibly a Double Rock?)
Diamond Vibrato
Music Man Sixty Five
It looks like he has a Roland Keyboard amp for the MIDI now.
Eve:
Boss TU-3
ProCo RAT2
Way Huge Ringworm
Boss Digital delay of some kind
Roland JC-120 (where she gets her vibrato)
And then they're both using TC Helicon D1s in "thick" mode to get the doubling/chorus on their vocals. Plus Eve uses a Eventide MixingLink to send her vocal mic through a few extra pedals. Only one I know for sure is an EHX Pitch Fork to get the fifth-up sound on "Color Code"
also a whammy V and a delay pedal, when I saw em earlier this month
Ya I'm not sure exactly what delay Kasra is using but Eve is definitely rockin the DD-7
Yeah I talked to her in Seattle and I remember she said she used the DD-7, a distortion, and her chorus/vibrato is all in amp with the roland. I think she might have a looper too, or that's hooked up to a keyboard she uses. Kasra I'm not so sure, I didn't get a chance to talk to him but from what Eve said and I could see, all I know is that Whammy V and the midi pickup/processor
when Eve starts doing the NYA NYA NYAs it always reminds me of the Mario level where you gotta carry the baby penguin around
How is that bassist not John Clardy?
i lol'ed
PLEASE please PLEEEEAAASSSEE put out the recording for Heavy Lifting! These videos are too good
i can't believe it's been four years and we still didn't get it
Pleease please pleasssseeeee haha
They are really pushing the boundaries in a very awkward, yet enchanting way!
nya nya nya nya
Hey Palm. I got your tape and it came with 2 download codes. I gave them out all ready. I love the record!
i love this band
This band make me so happy
Will this session be available to buy and are there more songs that were recorded?
This is better than the Rock Island version and that in itself is a ridiculous feat.
Steven Jeffels I wish they would've played Composite, Ankles, and and Bread.
greatest band of all time
holy hell this band is awesome!
this is unreal amazing.
such a busy sound
Where may I get my own turn-your-guitar-into-steel-drums pedal?
Midi pickup
H9 Effect Pedal
Saw them live in February, he's using a midi pickup into a Roland Gr-30 Guitar Synthesizer
Word! thanks all!!
u can also buy an electro harmonic synth9 pedal. does the same job
11/16?
this is looks a little too much like a dream i had
Palm is a dream
what the fuck this is beautiful
I swear audiotree just gets it. Damn!
I love this
someone pls explain how this music works
How do y'all get permission to film in your far out vids lmao
Audiotree is kind of a big cultural deal in Chicago. If you have enough motivation and creativity (which this guys definitely have) you can achieve great things working side by side with your local representatives or majors!
yesssss I loveeee
please release the session of the song in the intro that one is one of my favorites when I saw them live
suburban yoo what is the name of the song in the intro btw? It sounds really cool
@@rudyswandi9442 heavy lifting
Good luck finding the time signature on this one folks
Literally just 6/8
@@zachpennington4636 lol there’s a lot more going on than just 6/8
it's 11/8 all the way through, i've read somewhere it's inspired by a subgenre of folk music but i can't remember which one
Some great AfroShoegazeMathrock
Soooo good....Now do one with Crumb
Hell yes Crumb would be awesome in this type of setting
@@CatmanJimbo good news bud
@@funkdungus839 ayy thanks for the heads up!
Damn bro, this shit as insane
Gerasimos is such a cute thankful person
Gerry

tremendo
god, i fucking LOVE palm.......
Awsome
WHO SAYS YOU NEED MORE THAN ONE CAMERA HUH?
What time signature is this?
Nabil Burias 11/16
yo how do i double thumbs up
✌️
amo
dong dong ding dong ding ding
Anyone know the song at the start?
heavy lifting
^Heavy Lifting is sooooo damn good
Dillon Arloff Dude it so is. Like a 1/3 of the song is developed by structured parts to then unexpectedly drop into the last 2/3 of the song which is one of the most hypnotic crescendos ever.
They remind me of NIN with their unusual timing
How animal collective’s last 3 albums should have sounded...
Jazzblasterrr Palm is the new AnCo
Nah dude centipede hz was good...painting with on the other hand...yikes
Very funny guys! But seriously where’s animal collective??
Chris Rusch animal collective couldn't pull this off ever.
this is coole
hot damn
pesado
I don't get it.
Sounds a little like Flaming Lips style
RAD
I guess Humanity is not completly lost
Unpopular opinion, but I wish the drummer would go back to the sound block instead of the sample pad thingy
what the fuck
Wtf
Is this animal collective?
hey man after doing some quick research i just wanted to share with you some details i found. looks like the band's name is "palm" like the tree. and the song is called "dog milk" like the pet and the drink. and im not sure, but i think my research has determined that its from a segment called "audiotree far out" but dont quote me on that quite yet.
advanced youtube academic research has revealed, upon traversing the web surf and landing upon a palm twitter page, that in fact the band's name is "palm" like a hand, actually.
No comment on the other details, we're still hard at work on this one.
Chris Finestone animal collective but better
no. you think that because of the similar timbre in the vocals (due to both bands penchant for double tracking). ultimately a surface level evaluation
Eh, strange/synthetic playful textures, odd time signatures, and drawn out song structures are also pretty trademark anico elements. But I don't think they're shockingly similar or plagiaristic.
WTF is this
math rock?
Fuck labels, use your advanced first world vocabulary
Christian Nolen the most amazing thing
Palm - Dog Milk | Audiotree Far Out
math pop maybe
Steel drum obsession ruined the album
Captain Limabean it's a really cool sound but I kinda agree, I want more of the noise found on samples and trading basics
Yea lol I see what you mean.. I think a more idk industrial sounding percussion of course w variety would also sound killerr
idk sounds pretty good to me
