Greg's brain has some rooms and compartments that other guitarists just don't have. He opens those doors and the weird notes and chord changes just fly out. So nice.
You know what I like about Eric gales not only is he an amazing guitarist, but he always look like he's going to say something after every couple of notes but then doesn't and carrys on playing some more boss music, and then looks like he's going to say something on the next bar. Always makes smile.
when this video showed up in my subscriptions, i KNEW it'd be nothing short of greatness. Seriously two of the strongest pickers going right now. holy fuck
There is no question Eric is one hell of a person I would love to meet and spend time with him not even jamming just to spend time here is always smilingwhat a treat for the ears
"turn it down just a smidge". For us here on youtube, it's ridiculous. But every convention like this that I've been too just gets louder and louder as the day goes on. It's just what happens. Nice Jam.
Wow! I always watch Wildwood just to hear you (Greg Koch) play. This was a real treat to see you with another marvellous guitarist. You guys had a conversation going on with your instruments. Joe Bonommassa should guest you more often. Love your Tele, Strat and LP playing. " Just Great Koch"....LOL
OMG! This is insanely fun to watch! And they look (and sound) like they are having a blast. I heard Koch say in another video that he had picked up some variations on Little Wing from Eric Gales, which made the song interesting to play again, and would guess this is when/how it happened. Brilliant.
I'm supposed to be working on my oral for college, but I cannot not stay focus onto this video for this session is making me catching feelings instead of working on my school stuff
Fantastic. Mr Koch is just quality as always & with one of the young guns (though he's been around for a good while) Eric Gales, he's tremendous, didn't expect to see this, wish I'd been there. few tasty guitars too :)
+Fred Garvin leads and vibrato is a gas too.. re: Albert King. 'In Session' w/ Albert & SRV is a textbook example of reverse tuned guitar mastery/mojo.
'The long hallway rolled out into oddball odd Beside the fly-pecked black doorway That looked closed on the tar-lattice street Up a wrought iron fire escape Rolled out a tiny wooden platform with dark, hard, dark rubber wheels Roll, skreek! Roll, skreek! Roll, skreek!' (from Sam With The Showing Scalp Flattop - Captain Beefheart) Listening to Greg's crazed outside lines made this old Beefheart number appear briefly with Eric joining in for a bizarrely accented call and response with neither player missing a cue - a minor miracle unto itself. 10:30
These two should get together and do something formal. Their two styles mesh perfectly. Eric Gales is a genius and Greg Koch can play just about anything.
The second half of this with the altered 12 bar is fantastic. I'm a huge Koch fan, but Gales comping behind Koch's solo is incredibly insightful to Greg's solo - or vice versa I guess. Wow...
Jeesus mother mary and joseph Eric gales has a butter tone. Lovely. Its almost bass like sound makes me think i'm hearing things that aren't there. Great contrast playing with Koch i love this. This is what its all about man.
So happy that Gales is on the right path. These two guys are so fucking special. Imagine someone walking over and saying..."hey, could you tell Koch and Gales to turn it down?" LOL.
I've never seen a guy play lefty with a right handed guitar strung for right hand playing? That's an extreme way to get your own sound. It definitely works for Eric. Great Jam guys.
at 02:43 Eric plays that first lick of Greg but with added flavor - wonder if it was unconscious or not. So sick. That main theme of the lick is really nice. Is it on some track or was it just improvised by Greg ?
WHAT A TREAT, MY MAN ERIC IS FEELING EVERYTHING HE PLAYS, THE FACIAL EXPRESSION SAYS IT ALL, THESE ARE TWO MASTERS TRADING OFF BEAUTIFULLY...THEY SHOULD HAVE RECORDED THIS LOL!!
I know I'm late, but for anybody wondering, Eric Gales is using the "Fat Jimmy Gigmaster" in this video. Greg Koch is using the "Fat Jimmy Jr." Eric Gales also plays this wonderful amp with the John Page Classic in this video - ruclips.net/video/wuQX6Eto0Xc/видео.html
"Hey can you turn it down?"
Eric nods.
Doesn't touch a fucking knob.
Badass.
EG always has this look on his face like he might explode from happiness at any minute!
I think he s not that beautiful thats all
@@pierremorand9159 ok?...
😁😁 you hit the nail on the head.
And it’s contagious, one just feels total joy watching him play

If Eric Gales and Greg Koch are playing at NAMM, one does not ask them to turn anything down.
Greg channeling his inner Roy Buchanan on this one.. Eric is channeling something amazing from an alien planet.
You know there's something special here when it literally sends chills down your spine when you hear it. This is what music is all about right here.

+Darrien Day YES!
+Darrien Day Both are crazy good.
I felt the same way when I spotted both names! beasts of another galaxy
Amazing =)
Eric Gales is one of the most talented guitarists I have ever heard. He has mastered dynamics, groove, chord voicing, and other elements of comping.
The 2 most unpredictable players I can think of.
Some of the sweetest, nastiest, most beautiful licks I've heard... 4:20-4:31
Crazy chops all around,It's always a gift when folks like this get together.Thank you all!
Such passion from both players, love the way Eric just so natural , playing right handed strung right handed wow, genius, no question.
Fucking amazing jam. Beyond words. Eric is clearly overcome when he plays. A joy to watch.
If the two of you would put out a jam album like this, I would go crazy. Thats what this world needs. Fantastic soul playing.
There is no question Eric is one hell of a person I would love to meet and spend time with him not even jamming just to spend time here is always smilingwhat a treat for the ears
Eric Gales .. What a truly gifted musician! I could watch him all day!
One of the best jams I ever heard. I keep coming back to it.
thanks you for sharing those warm moments of music.
I'm not even a guitar enthusiast. .. but DAMN.. this is soulful! #Respect
I genuinely can’t listen to EG’s playing enough
Damn. This jam hit me in the feels. World class talent!!
I think a Album with the two of you on it would be Monumental! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO IT!
Pure magic. These guys are so in tune with each other it's insane!
"turn it down just a smidge". For us here on youtube, it's ridiculous. But every convention like this that I've been too just gets louder and louder as the day goes on. It's just what happens. Nice Jam.
Whoouuuww, when two Guitar Gods are playing (really) together!!!!
Wonderfull!!!!

I could watch you two guys all day. Even just this one progression,,, all day!
Two truly great players not afraid to give each other some space and enjoying it.
Gales is so dynamic... Greg is a Titan... this was nice, thank you +Wildwood Guitars
I'm supposed to be working on my oral for college, but I cannot not stay focus onto this video for this session is making me catching feelings instead of working on my school stuff
This is what guitar jamming is all about - with a couple of the true masters!
The two best blues/rock, fusion, etc, guitarists alive today, w Eric taking the #1 slot.
Intresting guitarist...visually as well. From another planet that guy. Planet Cool.
Thank you for sharing that video. So very, very nice!!!
Damn starting at 8:37 holy sheeit! Could listen to these two jam all night.
Two of my favorite players jamming together. This made my day.
At 11:15 Greg started playing the trumpet. That was amazing, as was everything else.
Eric & Greg would be a tour I’d follow! Their styles & personalities are very symbiotic. Wow!
Two of our favorites! Great video, thanks for sharing.
Fantastic. Mr Koch is just quality as always & with one of the young guns (though he's been around for a good while) Eric Gales, he's tremendous, didn't expect to see this, wish I'd been there. few tasty guitars too :)
Holy crap. I just came across this. I was standing about 5 feet from the camera! First time I’ve seen a clip from that.
Eric Gales is so amazing to watch. This is the first time I ever seen this. I usually like Metal but this is very pleasant to watch and hear.
Wow!
I would love to hear more jamming from these 2 great players
Eric got the tone here, but I do love Greg. Both so into it, an inspiration - playing guitars straight off the shelf that aren't even tuned properly!
Beautiful beautiful chord changes ....
There's one advantage to playing upside down and backwards, he plays some amazing shapes.
+Fred Garvin leads and vibrato is a gas too.. re: Albert King. 'In Session' w/ Albert & SRV is a textbook example of reverse tuned guitar mastery/mojo.
JopesTV He has a very unique style and phrasing. I love watching him play.
Fred Garvin Another great player who plays reverse in Doyle Bramhall Jr. You can catch some good vid of him on the Clapton 'Crossroads' series.
somehow his playing reminds me of Eric Johnson
@@marcoacca Thats his biggest influence!
What kind of guitars are these!?beautiful.. and these are GUYS Otherworldly..forget about it
if only we could get this to happen more often
+s1ky19 I hear you. I think these guys could really do some awesome stuff together. Great talents with unique gifts!
+s1ky19 It happens all around the world everyday with all the players we've never heard of. :P
+Michael Brown true.
Wow... a great combination... amazing sound
lovely chords form Eric....soulfulness
duee this was the best i've seen from namm
'The long hallway rolled out into oddball odd
Beside the fly-pecked black doorway
That looked closed on the tar-lattice street
Up a wrought iron fire escape
Rolled out a tiny wooden platform with dark, hard, dark rubber wheels
Roll, skreek! Roll, skreek! Roll, skreek!' (from Sam With The Showing Scalp Flattop - Captain Beefheart)
Listening to Greg's crazed outside lines made this old Beefheart number appear briefly with Eric joining in for a bizarrely accented call and response with neither player missing a cue - a minor miracle unto itself. 10:30
love Eric the happiest guitarist on the planet
These two should get together and do something formal. Their two styles mesh perfectly. Eric Gales is a genius and Greg Koch can play just about anything.
too much talent, my eyes are not worthy!
+dejongeblondegod try your ears
+chingyling try your heart... #respect
The second half of this with the altered 12 bar is fantastic. I'm a huge Koch fan, but Gales comping behind Koch's solo is incredibly insightful to Greg's solo - or vice versa I guess. Wow...
More expressions on the tone came out...amazing!
Just beautiful music!
Unbelievable. Amazing performance! That is surrender.
Oh man. This is so good.
Gotta Love It!........Greg is a BLAST and check out the patterns that Eric is playing with the UPSIDE DOWN thing!
Bad A*^s
Legendary Eric, amazes every time you hear him play
Jeesus mother mary and joseph Eric gales has a butter tone. Lovely. Its almost bass like sound makes me think i'm hearing things that aren't there. Great contrast playing with Koch i love this. This is what its all about man.
I like how John Page is just grinning in the background on the first jam. Quality stuff from two great guitarist!

08:36 ......The soul to the fingers ... "time for the blues" ... the fingers to the brain ..... "time for you, to be silent!"
Any one else hear a ton of Stanley Jordan’s style in Gales? Both of them are brilliant.
I can feel it GUITAR Brothers
Mr Gales blows my mind.
Two fabulous players
at 02:43 Eric plays that first lick of Greg but with added flavor - wonder if it was unconscious or not. So sick. That main theme of the lick is really nice. Is it on some track or was it just improvised by Greg ?
Rob Chapman said I should check Eric Gales out
so you gained a new fan now
WHAT A TREAT, MY MAN ERIC IS FEELING EVERYTHING HE PLAYS, THE FACIAL EXPRESSION SAYS IT ALL, THESE ARE TWO MASTERS TRADING OFF BEAUTIFULLY...THEY SHOULD HAVE RECORDED THIS LOL!!

I wish Bonamassa had soul like this
Blues Man He does sometimes. Just doesn’t always bring it.
if Joe wants his prick pulled he'll do it himself !
YOUR A IDIOT AND DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT SHIT.
Was trying to imagine who has the stones to sit with Greg. Buddy has soul. Never heard of him. Have now.
Gales = Best guitar faces in history
Love these guys
Sick jam...wicked
Pure enjoyment.......
Pay Them You get what you pay for Musicianship and Soul. Eric said "I ain't Turning Down Shit!" Nice Wings Of Rock N Roll Instrumental Love it!
10:56 - "Hey Eric! Hey Eric! Hey Eric!"
Dude I would've never heard it that way lol
It does sound like that, lol
I know I'm late, but for anybody wondering, Eric Gales is using the "Fat Jimmy Gigmaster" in this video. Greg Koch is using the "Fat Jimmy Jr." Eric Gales also plays this wonderful amp with the John Page Classic in this video - ruclips.net/video/wuQX6Eto0Xc/видео.html
Eric playing left handed and upside down. Sweet!!
