I wish my dad had more automotive knowledge. I've always been a construction man. However, I've secretly always been curious about automobiles. Paul is the kind of person I wish I had in my life.
My dad was a good mechanic but halfway carpenter, plumber, and electrician. The way I look at it..whatever I need to do he got me halfway there. Just start some projects and win or lose you can pass some stuff on.
@FabRats Honestly, that thank you at the end doesn't sound like much, but that's what makes it all worth while as a parent! I love that he said it on camera too! 😀 Thank you guys for sharing your life like you do!! I've got much love and respect for you and your family, Paul!
Nice truck, Landon' lucky guy, never happened at my house, Oh, forgot, was only guy there, lol. Chinese parts should never be used except to fill recycle can. Always screw up or don't fit!
Hurt me a little to hear "this is all vintage camping stuff" and then you pull out the coleman stove and lantern identical to what my dad brought with us when I was a kid! I get it. I'm no longer the young man I was. Ouch!
When I was in school I went to see the first of a new set of trains that were being brought in, latest state of the art. This year they put the last one into a museum. Yeah, ouch.
Paul needs to chop up a few lengths of rebar, bend them in u-shapes & weld them to the left lift post so he can get into vehicles up on the lift without dragging that step ladder back & forth!
My mom was just luke grandma lolly she raised 4 boys full of shenanigans always told us i brought you into world cant take you out lol really miss MOM❤
Grandma's always a joy. You'll always laugh when she shows up. I felt sorry for her when Ben called her after his wreck. She was worried until Ben called.
You're a good Dad, Paul! When Landon gets home for the weekends, he can help you out on the bunch of little things that need to get done so you can get started on the Jeepster, seeing how you guys surprised him with his truck ready to roll! Catch you on the next. ✌️ 😊
On 4l80 transmissions, there is two types, front lube, and rear lube. Front lube uses 2 short fittings, and the rear lube uses 1 short, 1 long. Just a heads up for those messing with them.
I wish all family's were like yours always helping each other an just being there for one another thanks fabrats an congratulations on the onx build #1🎉🎉
Hey Paul! Try a piece of masking tape over the bolt head, it makes a snug fit in the socket and no more dropsy’s! LOL! PS; your new camera man might work, he’s got enough smartassery to fit in! Oh! And thanks for the great content, and for being a great example, your kids are lucky! Mel from Quesnel🇨🇦
Intermountain transmission exchange in SLC. Done several trans there. They are doing a 4l60 adapter for tone ring to a 241c p drop on my 79 Cherokee. Gonna be mint with a truck Norris 6.0.
Sometimes it's helpful to shove the filler tube up in where it goes and then jack the transmission up and when the bellhousing gets close to lining up, guide the tube into the trans case while jacking up the last few inches.
I wish my dad knew more about cars. I'm a construction guy through and through. But deep down I've always wanted to know about cars. I wish I had someone like Paul in my life.
Respect 🫡 Paul you’re an amazing person and an even better father. I am building my pole shed in Wisconsin. Have a tire changer , balancer and an older pipe bender. Thanks for showing the good and the screw ups man. Keep it up.👍🏻
When you said nothing was worse than burnt tranny fluid, instantly I thought to myself 90 weight is my vote. I worked on a late model pit crew for over 25 years and have changed gears in a Quick Change a few thousand times. If you want to ruin a new pair of jeans just spill some 90 weight on them and that’s what they’ll smell like until you throw them away.
Must be fantastic to have had a dad that a) did stuff to make his boy happy and b) appreciated any success or achievment his boy had. and c) didn’t criticise every single positive thought and idea his son had. I didn’t which is why I never had kids.
When we visited Paul earlier this year after the Offroad Games, my 1986 GMC K30 was in the shop with a bad transmission after we drove it all the way out from Delaware. It was a Monster 4l80e, and I matched the cooler line fittings with what was in from Monster, but with the AN style. It had the shorter rear fitting in, and I put the same thing in. Thats what caused my transmission to fail after about 10k miles. St. George Transmission did a full rebuild, and put the right fitting in. I would have thought Monster would have the correct fittings in, but I was wrong! Also be careful with using the 2wd rear speed sensor combined with 4lo. I had to put manual shift buttons in mine to keep the tranny in the right gears while offroading. Going up and down the big hills at the Alpine Loop in CO was scary in the wrong gears!
Boy better tell Lando he better hand onto that ole girl. It’s a rare sight too see a regular can step side square body. Especially one that isn’t plum eat up with rust. Beautiful truck, needs a 4speed and a 454
You had me laughing hard at “talking dragons”. Relatable. Those fittings are exactly why all my transmissions now have JIC fittings and tractor hoses. Done with those junk fittings.
JEEPSTER, JEEPSTER, JERPSTER🤣👍 I can relate...we all have projects that take a while 😁Paul Great seeing you all getting the ol truck up and going 🤠👍 Pray you all have a wonderful & blessed rest of the week as well as weekend too come 👋🤠
You all Michael jeepster fans got to realize Paul is too busy learning transmissions, again and again and...... Paul just send the jeepster build to Chads fab like everything else. 😂..👍
All that fun.Glad you didn't have to pull this trans after finishing, as was usual. Quality work from a Good shop pays off. Now about the wrecker...At least the tire's only flat on the bottom.
You've got a lot of courage starting an out of the way bolt with a rattle gun. But, on the bright side, if it cross-threads you get to take everything apart and start over.
When i use an early tranny on an LS I just tap the blind hole on the tranny for 1/2-20 and use a short bolt to hold the dipstick. ghetto but it works good.
We’ve seen Land grow up and get his respect. It’s good to see. I remember there was a specific episode when it happened a year ago or so. Turning out just fine and you guys did a great job and still are.
I had the previous generation of the Coleman, White fuel lantern, and one of those cookstoves, but I traded it to one of my relatives for a newer version. They wanted the white gas for so they wouldn’t have to carry 1 pound propane bottles.
On those transmission fittings, all you need to do is put it back in and then cover it with flex seal. It works on the bottom of that guy's boat so it must work on a transmission, right? 🤔😏
That fitting must have been the one I returned because the threads were cut undersized. I ended up using a factory fitting then adapting it to AN with a push in fitting.
Paul, some day you'll change from buying parts on Amazon, to Summit or Jegs. You'd save yourself a lot of headaches and probably money too in the long run. 😂
Paul I can remember when you said that those competition stripes on the hood were going to be gone! Landon said your not painting MY hood.We your viewers said competition stripes of part of that trucks history don't you dare paint them them out including my 70 year old self.
Paul: You can't trust tightening bolts with the impact with those long extensions.. There is too much flex/torsion for the impact hammer to tighten very well. Always take a ratchet and finish snugging them up with those extensions.... With a ratchet it's fine, because you're pushing constant pressure. But with the impact hammer, it only smacks it for a short short period of time, which just flexes and recoils those long extensions and never actually tightens the bolt. It will to a certain point.. but if you check it by hand, you'll see that it's not very tight at all; and that's because of the extensions.
I was wondering why it was always sitting on the side of the shop and that explains it all. As for the Jeepster everything has it time and just like Landon's square shows something that should be quick and easy takes a little longer and it add up.
I wish my dad had more automotive knowledge. I've always been a construction man. However, I've secretly always been curious about automobiles. Paul is the kind of person I wish I had in my life.

Be thankful you have a dad
JUSAY'N, The best kind of Dad is the kind that fixes your truck while you're away at college.
The best dads helped them build the truck and then surprise them for their hard work! GREAT job Paul !
@FabRats Honestly, that thank you at the end doesn't sound like much, but that's what makes it all worth while as a parent! I love that he said it on camera too! 😀 Thank you guys for sharing your life like you do!! I've got much love and respect for you and your family, Paul!
Remember, Landon is a man of few words. I'm glad we got more than a smiling grunt.
@@timdillard3665 Yep. That is pretty much my point. It makes it worth while when you hear it said with sincerity, like Landon did in this video.
big Landon smile, and a big thank you to Dad! U raised them right Paul!
Always love Grandma's insight! and Kudos to the fan that sent you the vintage camping stuff! NICE. Takes me back to my days as a Boy Scout
Nice truck, Landon' lucky guy, never happened at my house, Oh, forgot, was only guy there, lol. Chinese parts should never be used except to fill recycle can. Always screw up or don't fit!
Will be perfect for the OnX build. A classic vehicle, classic overlanding gear!
That’s cool. I’m glad you got that fixed for him. He’s a good kid takes after his dad.
Hurt me a little to hear "this is all vintage camping stuff" and then you pull out the coleman stove and lantern identical to what my dad brought with us when I was a kid! I get it. I'm no longer the young man I was. Ouch!

Nothing like seeing that big smile on Landon. Truck sounds awesome... as you say... "Take it for a Rip"... T shirt time...
His smile says it all!! Nice job Paul and the crew!
What a Great Father you are Paul!
That was AWESOME Paul 👌, you have AWESOME Sons and it's nice seeing you help them out while there at school. Thanks for the video guy's 👋
Paul needs to chop up a few lengths of rebar, bend them in u-shapes & weld them to the left lift post so he can get into vehicles up on the lift without dragging that step ladder back & forth!
The person who sent the Mountain Dew kerosene lamp was a perfect gift for you and put a smile on my face.
Such a gem to have a dad who knows how to do and fix all the stuff…
That two tone square body is nice. I like when you show the not so good luck, shows you're real people.
We haven't seen Ol' Papa Dar snoozing in the comfortable easy chair in ages. How is he?
My mom was just luke grandma lolly she raised 4 boys full of shenanigans always told us i brought you into world cant take you out lol really miss MOM❤
She probably did a lot of raising all of their friends, too! Just that kind of person!
"Just dumb enough not to quit" should be on a shirt. My wife even said she would buy one for me!😂
Yeah, mine did too. Women!
Definitely need a shirt with that on it.
Grandma's always a joy. You'll always laugh when she shows up. I felt sorry for her when Ben called her after his wreck. She was worried until Ben called.

TY
You fix it twice so it's nice four times it's a dream and Landon looks so pleased with the square body good job Paul and Tom.
For future reference, a hammer is to be referred to as a "swing press".
I wish all family's were like yours always helping each other an just being there for one another thanks fabrats an congratulations on the onx build #1🎉🎉
Hay Paul glad to see your back to what your good at, putting transmissions in and then braking them. 😊😂😂
Hey Paul! Try a piece of masking tape over the bolt head, it makes a snug fit in the socket and no more dropsy’s! LOL!
PS; your new camera man might work, he’s got enough smartassery to fit in!

1:05 I’m not a jealous man but the concrete driveway is the cats meow! No mud as far as the eye scan see!

Great video fixing Landon's truck. Now you need to fix the flat or at least air up the front passenger tire on the tow truck
It's not even my truck or even my family, but I'm smiling that Lando looks happy.
That smile says it all, from both of them thats the biggest reward after some hard work for a surprise 🤙❤️✌️
Made me feel happy to see Landon's smile and the thankyou was a special way to end the video on.
Nice work on Landon's truck...made jim happy.
Great dad, Paul
Respect 🫡
Paul you’re an amazing person and an even better father. I am building my pole shed in Wisconsin. Have a tire changer , balancer and an older pipe bender. Thanks for showing the good and the screw ups man. Keep it up.👍🏻
Man! You have more patience than I do Paul. That is so frustrating!
Glad you were able to get it done.
I bet Papa Dar would have some dynamite hidden away 😂 Always love grandma's reactions ❤
That’s why I watch your channel you Paul have a big heart an your family are very good people keep it up Thanks
When you said nothing was worse than burnt tranny fluid, instantly I thought to myself 90 weight is my vote. Landon your one lucky fellow , fantastic work Paul . The bump stick sure sounds nice . I can’t wait to see more videos on it . Cheers 🇨🇦
I think Paul was more excited that Landon was. It's a dad thing. We love to see our children smile.😁
Must be fantastic to have had a dad that a) did stuff to make his boy happy and b) appreciated any success or achievment his boy had. and c) didn’t criticise every single positive thought and idea his son had. I didn’t which is why I never had kids.
Good to see Landon get his truck back! Loved the donuts!

The tacoma!!! The build that got me back to working on my SASd 5.0 Ranger after sitting for 10 years.
Boy better tell Lando he better hand onto that ole girl. It’s a rare sight too see a regular can step side square body. Especially one that isn’t plum eat up with rust. Beautiful truck, needs a 4speed and a 454
That smile on Landon's face says it all. 😃😃
You had me laughing hard at “talking dragons”. Relatable. Those fittings are exactly why all my transmissions now have JIC fittings and tractor hoses. Done with those junk fittings.
Is that the name of the book?
He even has everything to make actual hydraulic hoses right in the shop.
Paul! You may have saved my 4l80 bacon with that rear fitting knowledge!! Thanks man!
Work shops seem handy to have. --- Thanks for the great upload. ---
JEEPSTER, JEEPSTER, JERPSTER🤣👍
I can relate...we all have projects that take a while 😁Paul
Great seeing you all getting the ol truck up and going 🤠👍
Pray you all have a wonderful & blessed rest of the week as well as weekend too come 👋🤠
We've all been there with leaks! And parts of dubious quality from you-know-where. You are definitely not alone....
You all Michael jeepster fans got to realize Paul is too busy learning transmissions, again and again and......
Paul just send the jeepster build to Chads fab like everything else. 😂..👍
LOL, Gotta love Grandma. You guys are the best.
All that fun.Glad you didn't have to pull this trans after finishing, as was usual. Quality work from a Good shop pays off. Now about the wrecker...At least the tire's only flat on the bottom.

I love the Marvin Heemeyer sweatshirt!!!

Good morning everyone 🤙🏻😎 Way to go team Fab Rats🎉🥇🏆!!
We’ve seen Land grow up and get his respect. It’s good to see. I remember there was a specific episode when it happened a year ago or so. Turning out just fine and you guys did a great job and still are.
Nice to Landon smile
5:20 Calling something BETSZY always makes the thing work
That was really clever to break that fitting in the shop instead of out on the trail! Good job!
Enjoy watching the family content on this channel.
Congratulations on the On-X build!!!!
You have a lot more patience than I do Paul when it comes to that oil leak. Words would've been said and the hammer would've been used.😊😊😊
A dozen leaks and junk parts from China and Landon's rig is back on the road again. Great job guys and the dynamite stayed in the store!
"I get the hint" LOL
You really need to consider swapping the fleet to manual transmissions 😂
Those Coleman lamps are the absolute best! I hooked one once while fishing and when I brought it up from the bottom of the lake...it was still lit!
That truck reminds me of Dwane 'The Rock' Johnson's truck in the movie 'Walking Tall'
That right there is why I don't use braided hose and A/N fittings. I'd rather have hard lines that don't leak.
transmission curse at the fab rats
I had the previous generation of the Coleman, White fuel lantern, and one of those cookstoves, but I traded it to one of my relatives for a newer version. They wanted the white gas for so they wouldn’t have to carry 1 pound propane bottles.
Look into vibrant performance.. for AN fittings and hose stuff. A lot of guys in the Performance community use them.
Bet Landon is so relieved that its fixed and wont spend his weekend wrenching. 👍
Persistent Paul does it again. I felt your frustration.
Should have called the rat "The fabbed rat" it certainly was cool. Loving the work guys!!
👍
Whats with the toe trucks front tire 🤷♂️ it only low on the bottom 😮
Looks flat to me put the tow truck in the scene with a flat tire no respect
Working at FabRats, Landon should specialized in Automatic Transmissions.
Theirs been a ton done to that truck from when I started watching this channel.
the Smile was worth every bit !! of your work !
I remember when you first put a big block in it and a bobbed flat bed. That was a while ago.
You should have lifted the moment grandma was close to being near you when burning donuts, when things go wrong they can go way wrong
I'm just gonna say it, looks like Paul has been livin right and /or Michelle has him on a good diet! Well done. Love your truck Landon!
Nice! Thanks Dad!
Looks like my week . Nothing ever goes as planned. 😮 . 😊
I finally get it. You're that guy. Good luck Paul, you're gonna need it.
It took me a while, but yeah, good luck and things are making a lot more sense now.
Paul: You can't trust tightening bolts with the impact with those long extensions.. There is too much flex/torsion for the impact hammer to tighten very well. Always take a ratchet and finish snugging them up with those extensions.... With a ratchet it's fine, because you're pushing constant pressure. The struggle......you have alot of patience!
24:04 love the sound of that camshaft
Husband answer. "I'm getting to it. You don't need to remind me every other year." Ha Ha.
Pink handle gives more "love" to parts :)
This is a great video I love seeing that big smile on Landon's face..
Dad doing Dad stuff. WTG Paul
