This is crazy. The amount of steps, processes, editing on multiple devices and editing programs from phone to PC and back to phone, re-editing, saving, waiting, just to have a custom thumbnail on a short is crazy!
I agree. All because youtube doesnt really want short thumbnails. But we have found a way around it to get more views so here we are lol, I actually use this method, but as of today it stopped letting me. It now will not allow me to trim and cut on shorts. says you cant trim because this is a Short error now. Maybe just me?

why don't RUclips just make it like the normal thumbnail of a wide video , why they want us to work more , i have to edit the video on my pc then move it to my phone with the cable and sometimes it disconnect and then i have to upload it from the phone without the auto description i put in on my channel then i have to go back to my PC and copy paste the description again from another video , its a lot of work tbh and RUclips can easily make it easier if they want

This was a great advice, but in 2023 RUclips didn't allow me to change the thumbnail of my RUclips Short, it didn't have that pencil to edit and select the frame of the thumbnail from the video. I will try again in 2024.
This still works, I just did it. Everyone is right that the pencil is gone. I added the thumb to the beginning and the app automatically made it the thumb. You just have to get the short uploaded to YT, mark it private then go into the editor in YT studio (on desktop/laptop) and do all the same things

On my iPad, there's no frame selector, but I can directly choose a picture from my photos as the thumbnail. However, RUclips still selects a random frame as the thumbnail, and I can only see the custom thumbnail in RUclips Studio. In short, I can't see the specified thumbnail on the actual short.
This strategy is obviously insider knowledge that MrBeast, dude perfect and a very few select others has known for MONTHS and the rest of us are now just finding this out. The Playing field is obviously not even on YT.

Well explained, but the main concern is the Video Quality We Can't Upload Hi Res Video Through Mobile App Even If Did It Reduce The Actual Quality of the Video, But on Desktop We Can Upload The High Quality Video in Shorts But Again. There's no Option to Change the Thumbnail on PC

The issue I am having is when I export my video from capcut to you tube, it doesnt have my thumbnail/cover. And youtube just uses a random image from the video for the thumbnail. Such a pain
So now after have tried everything in this video the results was worse then my usual method. Is probably very random if RUclips push out the videos. And if you already have a massive following is gonna be pushed out anyway
