I practiced Shitō-ryū from 1977 to about 1986 (age 4 to 13) under one of the world's most renowned teachers and can't tell you how many thousands of hours I practiced this kata and Bassai Dai. Watching this brings back so many memories. Her form is superb.
It is wonderful to see Rika Usami show off her Karate! It is an immense and continuous incentive for my training! I would love it if she were my wife! I love Rika Usami! ❤❤
even though her style is not my karate style (my style is Shotokan karate-do karate) i still love watching i love doing kata and she's inspiring person for me to improve on my katas.
Jag älskar henne och hon är så bra på det hon gör. Jag går inte i samma stil men det spelar ingen roll tycker jag. Karate är karate ska inte liksom va någon skillnad. Men aa ett jätte bra framträdande!!!
"That's in Shotokan kata" Yes, it is. It's found in many karate styles. It is even found in Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do. The version here, though, is being performed by a student of Inoue-ha Shito Ryu.
HAHAHA! SHE'S A WORLD CHAMPION. She started karate when she was 10. She's been to more competitions than any of you have, at world level. She's most likely competing here. When competing in karate, you either wear RED - 'aka' or BLUE - 'ao' belt. Those 'black belts' in the background are most likely blue. The video is just low quality.
I rate it a 9.5 out of 10 ONLY because tomari bassai isn't the best kata to do in a tournament. But when your out of options sometimes you have to do tomari bassai..

Dear Jesse, what's the difference between tomari bassai from shito and bassai dai from shito?, Thanks so much, sorry for my poor English.
El estilo de Fumio Demura es Shito Ryu ¿no? ¿Él hace estos katas?

Lol, someone's kiyai on the background sounds like they're throwing up.
That's in Shotokan kata
shito ryu
It's a Shito ryu karate kata. Miss Rika Usami, World karate Champion. Her style of karate is Shito ryu.
"That's in Shotokan kata"
Yes, it is. It's found in many karate styles. It is even found in Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do. The version here, though, is being performed by a student of Inoue-ha Shito Ryu.
Wouldnt say. Shotokan Variant is the japanese Kanku Dai. It is a simplified Form of this obviously okinawan kata.
i thought you weren't suppose to turn your back on the judges when exiting the ring?
nope thats totally ok to do
استاد تاکاشی توشه خدا بیامرز را یادی کنیم
She has higher potential to get her black belt early...Good basics..excellent kata...she nailed it
Ryan Rose It is just red and blue teams, nothing to do with ranks.

@@cookiesandcream2828 Correct. If you freeze the video at 1:58 you can see that many of the "black" belts are, on closer look, blue.
good troll
Nice Performance indeed.
Although the Long, necessary Pauses diminish the Essence of Kata.
