What a ridiculous design. Had a quick look at mine today and it’s not too bad. Trouble is they rot from the inside out. I’m guessing that it supports the tank too? Thanks for sharing 👏🏻
Very timely post as my L494 is due soon for this. Totally rubbish design. Nothing like working on your back under a vehicle in a howling gale. Shield does hold the tank up which is a pain. I read somewhere someone was going to cut the shield in half so they would not have to take the prop shaft off. Keep up the good work.
Thought about doing the one on my L494. Until I seen the price of a new one 😂

What a pain to do, having to remove so much just to change a shield that is a poor designed lump of steel.
100% the tank guard bolts hold the fuel tank as well...
