Love the control. Any mood, any gear, any reason, and if I want to pull the clutch and let the pipe bark in a tunnel, it's a snatch of the clutch away. Autos are good for disabled people or those who never intend to get serious about riding. Otherwise they are complex and expensive.
It's absurd that they didn't update the Tracer 7 with ride-by-wire (and cruise control). The bloody bike is marketed as a tourer. Triumph just did that with the Tiger Sport 660, which is the Tracer's main competitor. On the other hand, I'm happy they didn't, 'cause I bought a Tracer 7 early this year...
They don't sell a Tracer-7 in the USA.. I have Givi side cases, Top case and a windscreen on my 2016 Yamaha FZ-07 plus Ohlin Cartridges in the Forks. I am sure the Tracer-7 would be drive by wire if all of the other 2025 models are. Seems I heard that Cruise Control is only offered on the auto shift version .
The head light config for the Tracer 900GT+ looks better than the GS1300 with the active cruise control, IMO. Is there an option on adaptive suspension? Just wondering about the scaling of accessories through the middleweight market for sport tourers and adv's. The GS1300 has a pretty monstrous price tag even without all the bells and whistles.
Not impressed to see Yamaha taking away the clutch and gear pegs off bikes, I already can't buy a fkn car in Canada with a clutch/manual and its a damn shame to have bikes go in this lame a$$ direction.
As it's been said, the auto system is an OPTION. Yamaha has yet to find out whether it will be popular or not. I'm all about manual control and freedom. Clutches have gone from something requiring forearm strength, to assist-style with half (or less) the spring weight, to slipper style which don't lock up the rear wheel on aggressive downshifts, to now a computer doing the clutching. I just don't believe clutches are a barrier to entry on motorcycles. I don't hear a collective voice in the non-motorcycling public that says, "well, I'd really get into riding a motorcycle, but I'd have to pull a clutch lever. So..... it's a no-go for me." Nonsense.
I'm with you MOTOBOB. My money would go on the middle range Tracer 9 GT with the manual clutch and maybe some factory upgrades. Also can't wait to see some real-world road reviews on this model and what after-market upgrades can be sourced in the future - namely in the exhaust can department.
The XSR 900 has had an update Bob. It gets the latest electronics and quickshifter from the MT 09 and at last a 5" colour TFT up from the much critisised 3.5" which many people struggled to read and it also gets new switch gear which is in line with the MT 09 now. That new Tracer is hideous by the way.
XSR900 got the 2024 MT updates I was waiting for. If it got a 17L/4.5 gal tank, it would be about perfect. Better switchgear, better display, 3rd gen QS, similar intake system, updated ECU programming. It still hearkens to "motorcycle" styling from the 1980's and that's what I like about it, but it's still fully modern bones and powertrain. With tuning, they turn out 120 hp and 70+ ft-lb at the wheel, while the weight dips to 418 pounds. That's a pretty stout power to weight ratio. One thing I haven't been able to find, is any information about the 2025 XSR900 getting the increased steering lock movement that they gave the 2024 MT-09.
The tenere 700 low is great I am 5’ 6” with 30 inch inseam and I was able to ride the demo bike. I loved it and suspension, engine superb. I am just set on the V-strom 800 de engine feels like if has more in the tank and feels like it’s easier for longer rides
Tracer looks really unusual and I like it! 9GT for me. Not sure I can get onboard with auto bikes… Riding a bike is all about controlling the machine to do our bidding, not just getting on and pointing it where you want to go…
@@jonathanmasterson3100 There's zero reason to believe it will be discontinued. It's filled MotoAmerica race teams and has been successful against RS660 and GSX-8R in that division.
My attitude to Yamaha Tenere is why fix something not broken, By this I mean people are still willing to pay real strong money for a outdated bike, and I think Yamaha knows this and does little that costs money to update it
I'd be happy if I could get my hands on the base model tracer. I wouldn't be using it for real long distances. Maybe around two hundred miles out. The yamt, I can do without. We'll see though. I have other options. Mt09, mt10 or cb1000 hornet, if we can get it here in the US. I love the tracer though. It comes with a windscreen and saddle boxes. It's an awesome looking bike
I think the motorcycles at the show are pre-production models, displayed solely for the event. There’s a similar situation with the Tracer 9 GT+ as well. Its rear radar cables running to the mirrors are exposed and look quite untidy.
Tracer 9GT+ without the auto transmission- give me strength! Can you get a top box for the Tracer-all I’d need on a daily basis. I’ve never owned a Yamaha or Ducati for that matter.Came close with a 900S in ‘79 . Went for a GS1000 instead because I only knew how to change spark plugs, adj chain. Why doesn’t Yamaha go the whole hog on the Tracer and give it shaft drive?
I've recently been to the NEC motorcycle show, And I noticed Benda motorcycles, think the Benda LFC 700 looks interesting, Are you likely to test any there bikes in the future MotoBob.
Was really looking forward to the updated Tracer 9 GT but boy what a let down. How many lights do you need totally ruined it for me although others will undoubtedly like it
Well i'am happy that i have the 2023 t7. Dont like al the extras except the nieuw fuell capp, that ting looks cleannn. Otherwise yeah not needed update in my opinion
Yamaha could have made "the most advanced headlight system" without making something so ugly. It's like a spider on crack. FJR1300 is dropped now in 2025, so Yamaha no longer make anything bigger than 1L in a four cylinder. I think the CP3 is not a proper touring engine like the FJR has been. It's not as smooth, doesn't have anywhere near the same drive as that big 1300cc four. I really hope Yamaha has been working on a fully redesigned FJR. The last version wasn't ugly, wasn't lacking technology, but it also wasn't really very popular either in big sports touring markets, which have given way to big ADV bikes. What really needs updated is the Super Tenere.
When they put the World Raid together I thought that would be a precursor to the T9. Chassis for the Tenere is still not shared with anything else in the lineup.
Anyone else want less tech? I want cables, no abs, no traction control. Just light weight, balanced raw power and a cheaper price. Sport bikes peaked in the mid 2000s
Great coverage, but Yamaha's descent is tragic. They used to be superlative, imaginative engineers delivering original, focussed bikes. And the Diversion... But now, what a lack-lustre lineup. Like the rest of the manufacturers, a ton of needless nanny-tech (radar! Seimi-auto! Blind-spot alert! Phone alerts!), over-complex showroom features and more weigh, less power. People pay for this junk? Mortorcycles used to be a refuge from all this BS. Outside beginner/commuter bikes and some nice paint-jobs (and a kid-yourself rally bike) Yamaha now have very little to offer. But could be worse, there's always Suzuki... Without Toyota money, Yamaha would be going the way of KTM (how did uglier, more expensive, heavier, more complex, less reliable work out for them?) Please, anyone getting into bikes... buy used - there are so many mint, amazing, reliable bikes out there that are better than this bland, sanitised swill.
Yamaha in 2025 … probably still reliable as always but now really boring non-innovative bikes… R9 to me is a disapointment… its just lame calling it anything else than a … sportbike… perhaps almost more like a sportstourer with a sporty coloring
"faffing around" with the clutch and gearbox is partly why I ride motorcycles. It is my machine that I am controlling as a rider, not a passenger.
Love the control. Any mood, any gear, any reason, and if I want to pull the clutch and let the pipe bark in a tunnel, it's a snatch of the clutch away.

I am sure the Tracer-7 would be drive by wire if all of the other 2025 models are. Seems I heard that Cruise Control is only offered on the auto shift version .
They don't even sell the T7 in USA or Japan, so it's clearly not a priority for them.

Boo hoo hoo.. Having both is a good option especially if you are handicapped in such a way that clutch/shifting is problematic to impossible.
It's just an option. They're not discontinuing the manual.
As it's been said, the auto system is an OPTION. Yamaha has yet to find out whether it will be popular or not.

Yep… And, the exhaust design is pathetic.
This made me spit my drink out... Lol

Auto bikes = scooter

Glad I’m not the only one that noticed this oversight
IMO, this now makes the XSR900 practically irresistible 👍🏿
The tenere 700 low is great I am 5’ 6” with 30 inch inseam and I was able to ride the demo bike. I loved it and suspension, engine superb. I am just set on the V-strom 800 de engine feels like if has more in the tank and feels like it’s easier for longer rides
The xsr900 got updated tft, updated quickshifter, updated rider modes, phone connect. Quite a big update but barely a mention.
Can you please show the W800 ?
That Tenere Rally Edition looks the pic of the bunch for me!
Would love to see a Tenere 440 or a 6 speed WR450R with longer service intervals. Please Yamaha, make it happen.
Tracer looks really unusual and I like it! 9GT for me. Not sure I can get onboard with auto bikes… Riding a bike is all about controlling the machine to do our bidding, not just getting on and pointing it where you want to go…
MT 07 AT, as I get arthritis and had to go auto with cars too
I think 🤔 yamaha r7 shud also get ride by wire throttle and some riding. Aids like rain road sport and traction control levels
I think they will discontinue the R7
@@jonathanmasterson3100 There's zero reason to believe it will be discontinued. It's filled MotoAmerica race teams and has been successful against RS660 and GSX-8R in that division.
@ hopefully it isn’t discontinued… I just feel the fact that they haven’t upgraded it along with other cp2 bikes in their range speaks volumes
MT-07 Manual with Quick Shifter add-on.
Tracer GT+ looks awesome, in fact the whole range has knocked it out the park.
There is no reason cruise shouldn't be on the tenere. what a blunder
Agreed!
Gotta leave sth for next year right?
Japan seems to hold the attitude that cruise is a "premium" feature on bikes, and keeps reserving it for top models.

Not a fan of the zip ties on the handlebar of the MT-07.😊
I think the motorcycles at the show are pre-production models, displayed solely for the event. There’s a similar situation with the Tracer 9 GT+ as well. Its rear radar cables running to the mirrors are exposed and look quite untidy.
Why does my 2014 Yamaha MT07 look so much sexier than every model released afterwards. Enjoyed the video 👍

Gawd these touring and adventure bikes look 5h1t. Thanks MB, great channel.
I think the V-Strom looks decent.
They are all designed to hold some "dirtbike" like styling elements and dirtbikes were never about beauty.
I've recently been to the NEC motorcycle show, And I noticed Benda motorcycles, think the Benda LFC 700 looks interesting, Are you likely to test any there bikes in the future MotoBob.
Absolutely hate the thought of no clutch at all. Maneuvers at low speed would not be the same (the way I ride anyways).
For the mto7 manual all the way
Cruise control and tubeless should really have been factored into the '25 T7.
Finally Yamaha have made the MT07 safer and put the key the right side of the dash. Now one to look at.
Tenere low have u sat on it are you doing a video soon ?
I'll take the T7 rally with cruise control thankyouverymuch
So wait can u buy a mt07 with cruise control and clutch??
Yup
@ i thought it was
Only with the auto
Bs u can get cruise control?
Wow nice bikes
Still nothing about the new Tracer 7 GT? 😭 Is it even going to be a thing at all?
Was really looking forward to the updated Tracer 9 GT but boy what a let down. How many lights do you need totally ruined it for me although others will undoubtedly like it

no new tracer 7?
Haha! The guy's feet at 5:18.
Just Ding Chillin
😂
R9 the best new sports bike❤
I’m praying for a Tracer 10
I wish the Yamaha R9 had a better design than the current R9.
If Yamaha build a XT700 IE: A XSR700 with longer travel (200-250mm), cruise control, under 190kg wet, I'd definitely be interested!
Yamaha could have made "the most advanced headlight system" without making something so ugly. It's like a spider on crack.

Tenere 900 on cp3 must be.
Must be what??? Dont leave us hanging!!!
When they put the World Raid together I thought that would be a precursor to the T9. Chassis for the Tenere is still not shared with anything else in the lineup.
The highlight R9 is a happy shopper, not a sports bike.
I love your accent, which kind of English accent do you have?
I want cruise control on the manual MT07. Hopefully that’s an option
Where is the MT10SP
Out doing wheelies
🤷🏿♂️
That tracer 9 looks like the Predator movie 😂
I would pick the tracer 7 with y-amt and cruise…….
Clutches shifting over automatic all day everyday.
6:38 6:39
that GT+ is absolutely poxy, ohh sweet jasus who gave the designer a lobotomy
If it aint a Tenere 900....it's a pass.
How long do we have to wait!?
Anyone else want less tech? I want cables, no abs, no traction control. Just light weight, balanced raw power and a cheaper price. Sport bikes peaked in the mid 2000s
The fact that xsr700 didn't get the same technology update as mt07 is so sad
Maybe next year, they're gonna get updated, XSR is always onestep behind MT, because MT is the mainstream.
has someone that would be a new rider the naked mt-07 automatic sounds super good.
cruise control on the MT07 but not on the T7??? what a joke!
I wish Yamaha took taller people into consideration.
Yamaha R1 with v4, anyone?
Where’s my tmax
A motorbike without a clutch 🤮
Auto bikes are moved to the future. Which will be electric motorcycles. Tron
MT 07 with a traction control and ride modes.... What a joke
I'd absolutely get the MT-07 with Y-AMT. Looking forward to it coming over to the States. Even better it makes the Fudds and purists furious.
this dude sounds/narets like that person from WRC
just dont involve women, let them be girls - is that safe to say these days 😭🤣😂

17k for a Tracer 9, what on earth were they smoking. They ruined this buetiful motorcycle with the ugly lights and amt.
GIve me an AMT R7 and I am sold
Just put wheels on an iPhone. Speak to it, and it'll haul you around.
MT07 clutter bike
Lets be honest here. No one likes the r9
Eh 🫤
Man, you are milking these vids. Is this an AI channel?
Yamaha is disappointment 😔
