Yeah, no way, you guys can ride quite literally anything you want. At the worst you might be uncomfortable, but you can most certainly ride it. Me? Short ass over here - basically any bike with over 820mm seat height is a no-go, which you'll be amazed to know, is basically.....every.... single.... bike out there - that's not a 600cc. As someone who chooses to ride a bike which could be considered the weird grandfather to the R9 (FZR400 with a CBR900RR engine) I can tell you that ~120bhp is plenty to embarrass 200bhp weapons on most trackdays (see vids on channel).
Plenty of work for the aftermarket bling trade to be getting on with. Carbon infills, tail tidy, middle front light eliminators, some might like the Darlek look, perhaps a nod to Dr Who from Yamaha. To be truthful that`s an awful lot of technology for that money. I think we`ll see alot on the road next Summer. Looking forward to you guy`s road testing it.
I'm not gona lie that bike looks good and I'm not a sports bike dude... "straight out the crate , dub plate". It's been a long time since I heard those lines 😂
Yeah looks great. I think these sorts of bikes are better for every day use than the old inline 4's which you have to rev to 9k to get it going properly. I have an XSR900 and know how flexible the CP3 engine is. I also don't think its expensive. As a 22 year old spotty kid, I bought a brand new CBR600 for £7k in 1997. In today's money that bike would cost more than the R9.
Looks pretty good but I´m quite surprised by the massive unused space on the TFT- screen. Such a big unit, and they made the actual info- screen tiiiny with a lot of wasted space for a couple of small warning lights.
I might buy one purely as a track bike. take the street fairings, clip-ons, and rear sets off day one. its got enough farkles for my liking, but it doesn't cost so much that I would lose a ton of sleep about chucking it down the track.
@FortyFourTeeth you Reckon this is like the Thunder cat/ace were to the R's? The road bike to the race bikes?? I love it can't wait for it to get to Aus!!
In-line with modern tech not advancing for the past few years if not going backwards.... Here we are, settling for a mid-range bike in place of actual superbikes
Overall I like it. I'd never consider an R1 because I only ride like a gentleman on roads, and I don't do trackdays, but I might consider this one in the future. The rims need to be black though.
If you shoot in RAW with your main camera you gotta do some editing to match the other footage. It looks very "grey" in comparison even if it's much higher quality it looks worse as a result.
Hopefully they do a sp with some decent suspension, remap and exhaust, I'd be genuinely surprised if it ever keeps up with a v2, hope so but meeeh Dunno. Time will tell early days.
It’s cool but why not just do a world release of the xsr900gp, maybe with slightly updated fairings? The race ergonomics of the R9 are not necessary for a road bike. The R9 will always be compared to an r1 while an xsr900gp has an entirely different look.
Being an old fart myself ,its still difficult to think of a “sports” bike without the inline 4 …..yet…now that iam legitimately an old fart and cant even max my fz1 out in multiple gears for more than a few seconds…the less hp with i assume less high rpm screaming , the C3PO might be the bike i actually need 🤷🏼♂️👍🏼✌️

@@shivamarya5225 interesting idea I'll look into that.
Depends where you will ride, if its just on the street and you live somewhere with where there's not many open roads then the MT09 is going to be better. You can pick up a gen 3 sp for about £7k now.
i totally agree with you that 119 hp on that bike is enough and anyone how says otherwise obviously never ride Yamaha cp3 engine before.
As someone who chooses to ride a bike which could be considered the weird grandfather to the R9 (FZR400 with a CBR900RR engine) I can tell you that ~120bhp is plenty to embarrass 200bhp weapons on most trackdays (see vids on channel).
How complicated is that swap? Haha
More than putring a thundercat motor in one like mine. 100hp 400, superb fun @leonworsley9171
Bit of a parts bin special with added bling.
I'm not gona lie that bike looks good and I'm not a sports bike dude...
"straight out the crate , dub plate".
It's been a long time since I heard those lines 😂
Would love to have this as my dedicated track bike
"It's not massive, but there is definitely enough there" - Al
Yeah looks great. I think these sorts of bikes are better for every day use than the old inline 4's which you have to rev to 9k to get it going properly. I have an XSR900 and know how flexible the CP3 engine is.
I also don't think its expensive. As a 22 year old spotty kid, I bought a brand new CBR600 for £7k in 1997. In today's money that bike would cost more than the R9.
Except for the fact a cbr600 is £10500 that's a £2k saving over this bike
If Honda doesnt bring the updated CBR600RR to the US im getting one of these for sure
Looks awesome
Looks pretty good but I´m quite surprised by the massive unused space on the TFT- screen. Such a big unit, and they made the actual info- screen tiiiny with a lot of wasted space for a couple of small warning lights.
Looks really good!👌🏼
I like it. My PCP deal for my beemer is up in the spring, so this might be something to consider. 🧐
14:33 perfect explanation 😂
I might buy one purely as a track bike. take the street fairings, clip-ons, and rear sets off day one. its got enough farkles for my liking, but it doesn't cost so much that I would lose a ton of sleep about chucking it down the track.
@FortyFourTeeth you Reckon this is like the Thunder cat/ace were to the R's? The road bike to the race bikes??
I love it can't wait for it to get to Aus!!
In-line with modern tech not advancing for the past few years if not going backwards.... Here we are, settling for a mid-range bike in place of actual superbikes
Be interesting to see what the SP version brings 😎
Overall I like it. I'd never consider an R1 because I only ride like a gentleman on roads, and I don't do trackdays, but I might consider this one in the future. The rims need to be black though.
This bike is not to be compared to an R1. It's a middle weight bike compared to an r6
If you shoot in RAW with your main camera you gotta do some editing to match the other footage. It looks very "grey" in comparison even if it's much higher quality it looks worse as a result.
again I'm asking.... does it have RAM AIR INTAKE in it..??
Another great video.
If it's any good as the mt09 sp then y'all are in for a good time!
Hopefully they do a sp with some decent suspension, remap and exhaust, I'd be genuinely surprised if it ever keeps up with a v2, hope so but meeeh Dunno. Time will tell early days.
Looks like a great package, I recently joined the Yamaha team, I won that Pirelli show bike R1 from Apex66! Nice second bike alongside my 2020 ZX6R 😎
Looks sharp ❤
I'll give it a test ride but the RS660 is still appealing to me more.
It’s cool but why not just do a world release of the xsr900gp, maybe with slightly updated fairings? The race ergonomics of the R9 are not necessary for a road bike. The R9 will always be compared to an r1 while an xsr900gp has an entirely different look.
"If you've ridden any of the 900's"
Exactly, you've already ridden this motorcycle. You just gained more fairings and backpain with this one.
They should completely cover the hole with fairings.
Oh shit , c3po is now part of the lexicon of the r9 thanks to you 😂
Being an old fart myself ,its still difficult to think of a “sports” bike without the inline 4 …..yet…now that iam legitimately an old fart and cant even max my fz1 out in multiple gears for more than a few seconds…the less hp with i assume less high rpm screaming , the C3PO might be the bike i actually need 🤷🏼♂️👍🏼✌️
