    Wags seemed surprised (or confused?) that the A-6 was carrying HARMS for some reason. They certainly did…and often. Just finshed “Our Lives on the Line”; an autobiography of an A-6 aviator in Desert Storm and he carried HARMS on multiple missions. So…don’t be sad Wags…you’re all good

    On the segment about burnout, it isn't just a fighter piolt problem. We are feeling the hurt quite hard in the Nuclear field and especially so in the submarine fleet. I think if the Navy needs to make so.e pretty drastic changes to the way it operates to get people to want to stay in longer. Love the content guys keep up the great work!!

      Two dimensional training in 3 dimensional space is not going to help them. Pulling Gs, bird strikes, electronic warfare and restarting engines after flame outs are things not in DCS. At best they can see what their enemy can do.

    This was very enjoyable to watch! Gotta love Wags and Eagle Dynamics! As a private pilot of 25 years and a flight simmer since the mid 80's (teen years, C-64, Amiga, etc), DCS is my daily fix and has been my main source of entertainment since the LOMAC days. I actually purchased the Rus Black Shark and then the Eng version, lol. The A-10C was next, then the Hornet. Purchased more DCS modules than I have time to enjoy..haha. Currently, I'm having an absolute blast in the Mudhen in VR with the Varjo Aero! OMG that thing is incredible. I recently purchased and assembled my PT Actuator 6DOF motion rig,... exclusively for DCS 😂
    Hey, you only live once and this is as close as I'll ever get to living my childhood dreams of flying fighter jets and combat helicopters!!! Love the DCS Apache as well. Can't wait for the Kiowa and Chinook! Fond memories of everthing Janes (late 80's, 90's). Keep up the great work guys! 👍🏾

    Having done twenty, 16 on the flightline, experienced a wealth of 'stories', so when Wombat, Mover and Gonky get going, it's all good stuff, AND helps recall all the 'stuff' we did. Things like sitting on the top of an AC-130 Gunship in Thailand, during our Vietnam Expeditions, doing buddy guard for a guy in the fuel tanks, with flares going off overhead and security searching for possible sappers crossing to the flightline, and us going on 'business as usual'. Lots of peacetime (Cold War) flying and tip of the spear stuff, and boredom relief, :-). I never miss the BS but the camaraderie and fixing/launching jets, I would still do today if I could. Love all of you and keep up the channel.

    I used to work avionics on CH-46E's in the Marines; that might be an interesting future aircraft for DCS given ops in multiple theaters over the decades, from Vietnam through Iraq 1&2 and AFG. Would add some nice LHA/LHD ship-borne ops to go with the Harrier and future AH-1W, too. Plenty of NATOPS around on the -46. National US Armed Forces Museum pulled a handful out of storage in the last couple of years in the desert and flew them back to KHOU, so you can even still get some time on them. The Echo models that I worked on had AFCS and made the life of the pilots work much easier; how those early Phrog pilots in Vietnam got those things around as they did having to constantly beep the engine RPM's up and down to match the Nr always blew my mind.
    I started flying in high school before the Marines and always wanted to fly military and beyond, however, unfortunately for me, after my service I wouldn't be able renew my flight medical and had to find something else to do in life. Grew up with PC flight sims and around my best friend's Dad who was a USAF F-4 and USAFR F-16 pilot, and subsequent DL pilot. My friend's dad had recently got out of F-16 school in AZ during GW1 (went active duty F-4 to reserve F-16) and the old Micropose Falcon 3.0 had just come out. Thought it was pretty cool even back then how the radar's closely resembled the actual screens. Amazing how far these sims have come now!
    After I got out of the Marines and finished college, I later worked at Southwest Airlines HQ for a couple of years and was able to get into one of their Level-D sims, and I was able to try out the HUD there on one of their NG sims. It was definitely helpful in low visibility approaches and such; surprised they didn't/don't put those on the right side, as well. Coming from my knowledge of HUD's in F-16's and beyond, I wasn't sure how helpful a HUD might be in a 737 but I walked away convinced in their value.
    As a WN employee I would periodically get buddy passes that I could give to friends and family to use, and so a friend of mine who went into the Navy as an aviation physiologist was able to get me into the full-motion V-22 sim at MCAS New River, while he was assigned to, at the time, a newly transitioned V-22 squadron. Had a really nice retired O5 IIRC, take me through a little bit of everything. LHD ops, aerial refueling, and more. In that regard, those 2 hours of sim time were as close as I would get to flying in the military and it meant a lot to me. The cockpit was much improved over the CH-46 in probably in every way, but one thing that it didn't have that I thought even it would have benefited from, was a HUD. Definitely for the price taxpayers paid for those, I would have thought they could have been there. I later worked on a different project at a different company where some USAF C-32's got a nice HUD upgrade, too. Borrowed a lot of the tech from FedEx that they had developed for their 75's.

    “Do you have emergency….?” And that’s why you DO call Mayday. Sure, you are not Iceman at that moment, but everybody needs to hear that mayday call to switch to emergency mode.
    We also didn’t call it for a long time, cause, you know, we were cool, too. But it helps everyone “get” it, including you yourself and the crew. Some airlines even call for adding mayday once after the callsign on every call.
    We also used to train with a generic sim-callsign, usually ltu400. Guess what? We had lots of emergencies where everybody called as ltu400 during the real deal. Train the way you fight, fight the way you train!
    You are under so much stress at that moment, you really do drop down to your level of training. At least during the startle phase.

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine 6 месяцев назад +2

      That wasn't an issue with "mayday vs" emergency. That was a separate frequency (Center vs approach) after the handoff. You wouldn't declare Mayday on every freq anyway. As we're trained in military training (and I meant to bring this up and forgot), once you declare an emergency, your new callsign is includes emergency at the end. This reminds everyone of your status.

    • @bastianhanschitz2839
      @bastianhanschitz2839 6 месяцев назад

      @@CWLemoineApparently that emergency got lost on the handover from one screen to the next, so even though the aircrew was in survival mode, ATC was like “something with emergency” and didn’t do the hand over as a full blown shtf.
      And in the end, if you make it, you are writing the report anyway. So just call mayday and start the chain for everyone. If it turns out it was a bit much drama, one can always downgrade to pan or cancel the emergency.
      I remember those exact same conversations in our company. After an initial adjustment period, everyone came on board.

    But after you guys broke it down it all kind of makes sense. I wasn't aware or understand that it was the cockpit door that was open (I had heard about a door but assumed it was a lav door or something)
    So them having a bang, probably would feel some sort of a shake I would guess, decompression alarm and then the cockpit door slamming open. I would understand that instant WTF is happening. Then once the situation calmed down and like you guys said the plane is flying. You can hear the relaxation in the pilot talking. And yes I can see them potentially worried about more of the plane coming apart, potentially lost lives and more if we keep circling around. This plane is flying for now let's just put it on the ground. And I had read someone else comment about a potential overweight landing and not burning off fuel. I don't think they worried to worried about the condition of the plane at that point.
    All Sim training can't duplicate the real tail on fire, we are crashing, somehow we need to live situations. And no one has ever died from a sim error. Just a quick reboot and try again. I know these trainings and sims are to help make everything just muscle memory and try to work out what to do.
    You guys said as a pilot you hope take off wheels up wheels down land and the worse situation is they ran out of your favorite snack. And because you don't read about any incidents on a daily basis so you kind of get into a rythem and emergencies take a bit of a back seat. Won't happen to me attitude. And yet some how these pilots seem to step up and make Miracles out of potential complete disasters
    So in long I appreciate all the things you guys do and the videos you fire off. They break down from some pilots all made things click and see it from a different point of view.

    The cockpit door is supposed to open for rapid decompression certification. Even boeing has released this statement

    I am dickish about making pilots read back hold short instructions, Runway assignments, and the current ATIS. I don't care what anyone says about it. I'll make the tower controller get the ATIS if the pilot is trying to run away from me on ground. 😀

    Hi mover , Great as always .
    In fact the mentioned Zagros mountains are located in west and north west of Iran not Iraq , I was excited and I was so waiting for more details about Iraq map , I have a demand if it's possible for you to ask wags that which countries will be coming with Iraq map , I mean like the Syria that some part of Turkey , Israel and other countries are exist and players can use , So some part or the whole west of Iran or North of Persian Gulf will be a part of Iraq map ?
    If it's possible for you to asking him ?
    Thank you so much.

    It's not 30,000 feet but there was that Aloha airlines 737 that had a chunk of the upper fuselage come apart and a VIOLENT depressurization at 24,000 feet and they managed to land it.
    If I remember it was like structural failure/ pressure cycles or something. So if a metal fatigued 737 could lose a chunk of it's structure at 24,000 feet and still land shouldn't a structurally good 737 handle losing its door at 30,000 feet??

    Wags needs to talk to Steve Hinton Sr about WWII and Korean era fighters. The museum at Chino actually has a real flying Zero and lots of other piston fighters from that era and he flies them all. Japanese, Russian, German or American they fly and maintain them. Maybe they've contacted Steve and doesn't want to deal with a simulation. If you want to know how a Zero flies contact Steve Hinton Sr, if you want to know how a Mig 17 flies contact John Penney. I'm just saying...

    It's the arm chair pilots out there that rule the roost, not real experienced airline pilots who have trained up the wazoo for these kinds of emergencies. Just a bit of Sarcasm to make our day, lol!
