Dune has actually become one of my favorite movies. Beautiful shots, interesting storytelling and amazing acting. So good, that i watched it twice in cinema and bought the dvd copy and this very artbook as well immediately after my first watch. It inspired me to pursue my dream as an artist in the film industry even more!
The moment you said 'oranges and teals' was the moment I noticed the colours in the room behind you. I don't know if that was in any way intentional but it made me smile.
Lovely analysis! I'm not an artist, I'm actually a programmer, but I find people talking about their passion fascinating! :) I'd love for you to look at Nier Automata artbooks, this was my first time seeing a quick 'mashup photoshop' method to create large scale arts, especially of environments.

The 2020 movie adaptation was my introduction to the Dune series and I fell in love with it immediately. The visuals and the cinematography were a big part of that (even tho the story holds its own). The scenes were simply breathe taking, each shot could have been it's own work of art! Thank you for sharing this teaser of the art book and now I'm off to add it to my wish list😅
I never get tired of being intrigued by all the very unique styles of the books you decide to review, and I'll likely never get tired of hearing your insights on the key- and concept art choices that have likely been made behind the canvas! What you have to say to each of these creations is very valuable and I enjoy every one of your book reviews so I hope you won't stop doing them, Adam!

I recently watched Dune. Despite not being able to catch most of the story due to how many names and technical terms were said, I can't understate it: the production team made a fantastic job and I've an absolute, absurd level of respect for the artists involved. It was one of the most gorgeous films I've seen since 1917. I believe Sir Sam Mendes and Denis Villeneuve are some of the best contemporary directors. I can only hope that Greig Fraser will have a chance to work with Mendes on a future project although Sir Roger Deakins seems irreplacable... and Deakins worked with Villeneuve so that's a plus. I'll be biased and add Matt Reeves to that list for his work on the reimagining of Planet of the Apes and, more recently, The Batman. Speaking of The Batman, the art book is almost out on Amazon but it released early for some people. Got it from Indigo in Montreal (shipped from Ontario) two days after preordering (got it at the time of making this comment) and I do hope you get a chance to look at it someday. It's over 200 pages with sketches, concepts for vehicles, costumes and several major scenes including spoilers. Loved your Cuphead Artbook review by the way. As someone studying in Fine Arts and still learning the process or finding my identity, I certainly look at things with a different eye.
Hi Adam , I would love to see one of your art book rewiews on "The art of battlefield 1" ... It's so amazingly good that I can't find words to describe It ... It has that viscerally realistic yet beautiful feel to It like Dark Fantasy does ! ... Thank you for your time :) and great rewiew and camera work .

Based on the books, the baron should have been a lot bigger, he used anti-gravity devices to hold himself up. The movie did a good job in portraying him as gluttonous and vile.
I thought Dune 2021 was visually stunning so hats off to them. However, the movie did not follow the book or back stories of characters/locations which would help those not familiar with the books to understand what is going on. As for the baron ,as a teen he was lean, but he pissed off the Bene Gesserit so they did their thing and made him turn fat and grotesque.
I really enjoyed the original Dune, I wonder if there's an art book of that film. Also, did you pledge for the Soul Arts Kickstarter artbook? If so, will you do a video on it? Some great fanart of fromsoftware games!

The first dune disappointed me. The movie tried to condense all in. I read the original books. It seemed to me that the movie tried to make up for its scrambling by relying so much on star power.

The way they portray depth and distance is astonishing. There is not a lot of color, but so much depth. I need to get this book ^^
