R.I.P., Mr. Clark ... a wonderful entertainer! Thank you for all the great years of music and joy. You will be missed.
*KJRH - TV* ... thank you for sharing this beautiful service with those of us who could not attend in person.
The last time Vince Gill sang "Go Rest High on That Mountain" was at the service for George Jones. He barely could sing it through his tears.

1200 views? WHAT?? This man is the Jimi Hendrix of country-bluegrass picking. I met and talked with him in 1994 in Austin, Texas during his book tour, such a nice man. Very unpretentious. He is /was one of the top 10 guitar pickers of any genre who ever lived. RIP, Mr. Clark. You are a national treasure.

Roy will continue to 'Inspire'. Just not enough good words to say about this legend's Legend.. Mr. Roy Clark.

I met Mr. Clark at the Evergreen State Fair in 1986. I worked with my friend who was the music promoter for the fair back then, and I had the honor of spending some time with Mr. Clark and his band for two days. He was so gracious to me and was actually interested in what I thought about things, music, gear, and gigging. I was given the opportunity to drive Mr. Clark back to his plane. He had a magazine with him with had some advertisements and articles about amplifiers and such, which he kept putting in front of me to look at as I drove the car, and asked "what do you think of their amps?" A few time he did that and I finally said, "I don't want to be known as the driver who killed Roy Clark!" being distracted from the road.
One last thing that shows, in a small deed, how Roy Clark cared for people. Being we were at a state fair, where there weren't many luxuries like paper. I brought a paper plate with us on the way to his plane. I really wanted to get an autograph for my Grandmother who I would watch Hee Haw with almost every Saturday and who adored Mr. Clark. As he prepared to enter his plane, we said goodbye, and I asked if he would give me his autograph for her on the paper plate. He gave a signal to his pilot who brought to us a briefcase and opened it. Mr. Clark pulled out two 8X10 glossies and signed them both, one for "Mary" my grandmother and one for "Pat," me. With that he gave me a wonderful compliment and then got into his plane and was gone.
He was the kind of man who touched lives, and forever, in my case. God Bless you, Mr. Clark. You have blessed me for the rest of my life. I miss just knowing you were with us.
    -Pat

I'm from the rock generation and have my guitar heroes -- many friends cringed when I used to mention Roy Clark in the same breath as the great rock guitarists of the era.
Those fellow musician-friends of mine eventually respectfully tuned into Roy and Glen Campbell -- and they quickly raised their eyebrows as they watched both of them perform -- and smiled.
Yeah...Roy Clark. One of those superb musicians in the history of music. Stunning musicianship, remarkable accuracy, entertaining, tasteful, likable, unbelievable at times, and a monster on the guitar -- among other instruments. Roy Clark and Glen Campbell -- what a band Heaven has now.
I loved Roy Clark. None of my rock friends ever under-estimated a talent like Roy Clark ever again. RIP Mr. Clark.

I remember Roy for this famous advise from families country reunion - "as you struggle for self down the pathway of life and the world makes you king for a day, go to a mirror and take a look at your self and see what that man has to say, for it isn't your mother, your father or wife, who's judgment of you, you must pas,s the one who's verdict means most in your life is the one looking back from the glass. So be true to yourself, never mind all the rest because your with you clear up to the end, and you've passed your most difficult dangerous task if the man in the glass is your friend". This was the best advise from Roy. RIP my friend.

This Country and the World is changing .. I sure miss the Family Values of the '60's and '70's when TV shows like Hee Haw were great entertainment . I always admired Roy's Talent and worried he was not appreciated as much as he deserved. I guess since I never saw one of his live concerned I didn't realize how well appreciated he was.. From watching him on TV I knew he was a nice and Humble Man .. From watching you tube videos about him I have leered about his trips to Russia and how much he gave back to his fans with charity ect ..
There is so much media out there. If you want to learn about some one you can find it.. R.I.P. Roy and thanks for all you have given back to your fans.

I lost a great and long time friend with the passing of Roy Clark. We met in the early 1970’s when Roy was working nightclubs and came to do a 2-week engagement in Oklahoma City. Every night on several trips to OKC Roy and I enjoyed our company before and after his shows. We took trips in his Beechcraft plane and met for many fun times any time he was playing at or near Oklahoma City, even as far away as Joplin, Missouri one evening after work. Even on the set of Hee Haw with him was an even greater experience. His other concerts with the OKC Symphony and other venues in OKC were very memorable, even to his long time gig in Enid, Oklahoma which started years before he really became famous. I remember even getting to participate in a routine we did on the Buck Owens Show which was taped in OKC. I remember how he and Buck Trent came to OKC when they performed together.
Roy was such a great entertainer. He, like Will Rogers, probably never met a man he didn’t like if they just met him half way. Once you were his good friend, he never forgot who you were, and years later when we didn’t see each other as much, he remembered the good times we had together when we did see each other again. I will always remember Roy and how he entertained this young cop who never knew people of stardom could be so friendly and sincere. May God be with Barbara and family in the years to come.

It was so effective and so obvious that he understood it was a celebration of excellence FOR THE PEOPLE BEING HONORED, and it was not about Sammy. His body language was 100 percent clear, "even the audience" got it. Coolest thing I ever saw.
