I don't understand one thing. The technical service manual for this exact model is available all over the Internet is a free PDF download, and it shows exactly the proper way to tear the unit down and in what order things should be removed making it very simple to do things such as belt replacement etc. Here I see this man randomly trying different things and trying to figure out what screws come off etc and I really think it would have been so much easier for him if he had just downloaded the technical service manual which is again it's free all over the internet. I have this unit and I have the manual in PDF. It saves you a lot of headache believe me.
I have the service manual and the only ones I could find all over the internet were bad copies where you can hardly read anything. And it's still ridiculous what you have to do to change a belt, easy when you know. I have done quite a bit to this machine and it is all working perfectly if you watch the latest videos
@@RetroElectronicRepair I have no doubt, you have done tremendous work to that audio system so I would expect it to work perfectly after all that you've done. Your videos are quite excellent.
Thank you. The copy of the service manual that I have is very hard to read. And the exploded diagrams for disassembly can hardly be read. If you know where a clearer copy of it can be found please let me know.
Im putting a new belt on mine....you could have just took the 4 screws off the board and then 4 screws from the metal bracket holding the black wheel the belt goes on....alot easier then taking all that other stuff off.
hi can you please help me on my sharp vz-3000 how do you put the belt as you said holding the black wheel ? which one is the big wheel or you are taking about the small wheel please kindly help me on this issue thank you Sam
Great tear down so far. I've found mine in a junk shop this weekend and have started and attempt to fix - I estimate at least belt changes like yourself. I've found a service manual which helps. Mine has a problem with the door mechanism - there's a buzz when powered on like it's trying to do something so not sure where to start with that. Did you ever confirm if the smaller belt is for the door mechanism or the stylus transport?
@@RetroElectronicRepair That's great to know re: belt. Not sure of buzz location, all I do know is that it stops if I manually opened the door and then closed it - unsure as I've the unit back together for the moment. Thinking about it, it could just be the motion of the motor if the belt is shot - and it's just turning constantly trying to perform an action that will never finish. I'll take it apart again in a couple of days and check. Thanks!
@@alexanderhosford8520 Hello! If you haven't solved it yet, the smaller belt not only opens the door, but also moves the needles. There is a magnet on the other side that pulls you in when you open the door. I think it buzzes and doesn't pull in.
You can see why this design never took off - what a dog from a servicing perspective! Sharp stuff was usually so boringly simple around this time as well.
Yes it's a bit crazy to have to take the whole thing apart just to get to the belts. It's no wonder people never got them fixed, the bill would have been huge.
Thankyou you very much for your reply please kindly help me on my sharp vz-3000 what size are the belt for the turntable platter and please kindly can you can you please measure the turntable platter across the exact measurements in millimeters please and kindly let me know thanks very much Sam
I will do that for you when I get in to it. I just bought the belts off eBay, if you search for sharp vz-3000 you should see them. About £15 each for the tape belts and also for the door mech and platter.
Thanks for you very fast reply I did order the belt from eBay from Tony before I bought the belt I asked him if it will fit the sharp vz-3000 he said yes it will fit and today I received the belt it looks to me small as you know if you fit the small belt it will wear out the motor and the bearing so there is formula that you can calculate any turntable platter belts what it should be that why I asked you about the sharp vz-3000 turntable platter across measurements exactly in millimeters please kindly when you have time kindly send me the measurements so I can use the formula to get the right length of the belt thank you you very much Sam
I think the stylus are on strings. If you can hear motors turning then check the strings. Otherwise it may be a switch or motor problem. Sorry I can't be of much more help.
Hi ,thanks for the info ,I have managed to fix the issue .It was a stretched belt.Replaced and didn't cost a penny .100% working ..Thanks for your advice.
I'm only 20 mins but this looks like a serious fixit video challenge and your definitely the man for the job!!
Thanks mate, definitely a marathon!
Sound out of these with the original speakers was superb.
Wish I had the original speakers. I found 1 at auction but still need 1 more.
I really miss my sharp 😢😢
I loved that stereo! ❤
I'm amazed the number of people who try to work on these without a service manual!
It is a pain of a job but you really did make hard work of it.
Yes I did, but now I have done it once it will be a lot easier to do again and probably differently. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍

Do you know where a manual is for a VZ-3510 I can't find one.
Awesome unit, thanks for vlog
It is a fantastic old machine. Thanks for commenting.
Классный аппарат, редкий, как раз для коллекции!👍

Yes the smaller belt is for the door mech. Not sure what that buzz could be, any idea of where it's coming from?

Let's hope the ones I've bought fit then.
Short belt + dry bearing = slow running and worn bearing in the future.
I did say I was getting the correct belts, the belt I put on was just to test.
Can you help ? I have the same unit but the stylus arms aren't moving when the record spins.Any idea what is wrong with it. Many thanks.
I think the stylus are on strings. If you can hear motors turning then check the strings. Otherwise it may be a switch or motor problem. Sorry I can't be of much more help.
If you take a look at my other videos of it I think you can see more and how to get to them.
I will have a look ,thsnkyou for your reply and timeout..cheers
