  • Roadsmart 3 tires. Get about 11,000 miles out of them. Mostly freeway, little bit of canyon riding. I take Ortega Highway on my return commute, and occasionally on my ride to work. These are on my 2010 Ducati Streetfighter 1098 (or 1099, or 1100, I'm not in the "scene," so I'm not sure what people call it). They cost about the same as the Roadsport 2 per mile (they cost about 50% more, but you get about 50% more miles out of them). Full lean is about 75 on the turns on Ortega. I like them, and will continue to run them on my commuter. I've got a 2022 SDR Evo that gets proper sport tires, I wouldn't consider running them on a bike meant for fun, but for the commutes that can be a little more fun by taking the canyon route, these tires shine. I had these same tires on my 2016 SDR before I got hit, and I think I was at 11,500 miles on those and I was getting close to replacing them. Solid sport touring tires. Never had any problems with them in the wet either, except when they're about to be replaced, which they'll spin in 6th gear with the throttle twisted more, but that's any bald tire.

finally some one who knows the difference of a tire "review' more than a "pre-view"... thaks for the info.. bought a new set for my cbr500 4 months ago,, sold the bike with 800 miles on them and am ordering a new set for my cbr650f.. nice to know good mileage and grip out of them.. all i had was a weeks research on forums and youtube,, nothing came close to this.. the german tests i read said these are better than road 5's... all other riders said they were getting 7-8k out of them but im sure they were probably riding them hard..

Riding hard doesn't necessarily determine the total mileage you'll get out of the tire. Motorcycle tires tend to wear out in the center. Heavy acceleration in a straight line, more engine braking, dragging the rear brake (or locking it up) wear the rears fast. Hard to wear a rear tire out on the sides unless you're on the track. Back in the day, I'd get 1000 miles out of a Dunlop D208, but that was on my 2003 R1 which had a ridiculous amount of engine braking. My 2004 GSXR1000 had much less engine braking, making my tires last much longer. Slipper clutches will assist rear tire wear life as well. Most of my miles are commuting via the freeway, lending to longer wear life. Ortega highway (my local canyon route) is only 28 miles, at best, half of that is turns. My commute is 73 miles. That'd be 20% of my miles on each side, and 60% on the middle, at best.

Crazy you got such milage out of them with mostly highway riding. Im looking to switch, I have michelin road 5s on my bike now. Wore the back tire out in like 7k. Not impressed for the price.

@@fenderfan8543 they aren't real sportbike tires, they offer comparatively little grip. That's why they last so long. They're sport touring tires. A bike with heavy engine braking will eat a rear tire much faster.
