    That was a brilliant takeoff at 1:38. Late drop and on a fish with little rocker. Please do a video on stopping nose diving. How do you decide if it's too late vs. When to send it

      I second this video request! I’ve been scared to commit lately because of how often I end up nosediving and getting slammed

    Your video on engaging the banana. got Me so many waves the other day. It's what I used to do but, having not surfed a lot for years had forgot. I looked around and every one is just sitting on there boards. I was in striking position and seeking all the time.
    Great info, Thank you!

    1. I love the dog. 2. If you teach your mother, auntie, granny or any older woman (preferably a little on the chunky side) to surf small waves, (no tricks or anything) you could open yourself up to a whole new world of subscribers.

    I’m struggling on the pop up on my new 7 ft surfboard, my left knee will kind of hitting the board when pop up (I’m a regular footer and 6ft tall). No such a problem on the 9ft foam board as I can do a push up, right foot then left foot. how to avoid this to happen please?

    I’ve been riding longboards at 85 liters everyday for the last 8 months and I’m thinking about buying a 6’4 Fish at 50 liters. Would you recommend this?

    Can't be practising with toes pushing off the ground. When you go to shorter boards this really messes you up. Imo we should be teaching people to pop up pressing off their thighs/knees from the get go. This one thing took me years to get past when I dropped board size.

    • @HowtoRip
      @HowtoRip  4 года назад

      Fair point Taha, that drill is really just to get people practicing the movement. When you lift your chest your weight shifts onto your thighs / knees anyway, not your toes.

    Any tips for someone who is too tall to pop up with toes on a longboard? Having a hard time bringing my legs up fast from my knees

    • @HowtoRip
      @HowtoRip  3 года назад +1

      I would suggest trying to avoid the 'knee' stage if possible, and pop up straight to your feet. Of course this will take time and practice to get right, but going to your knees first and trying to stand from that position is challenging.

    I need help with popping up on a board where my feet are not on the board and they are hanging off. when I practice on the sand or floor, it's like a longboard because I can easily drag my foot against the surface, therefore it would simulate me on a longboard instead of a shortboard. I hope you can understand what I mean. Thank you!

    • @HowtoRip
      @HowtoRip  4 года назад

      Practice, practice, practice, on your shortboard as much as you can. Focus on lifting your chest and bringing your legs through as fast as possible.

    the pop up you did at 1:43, if you waited another 2 seconds, would the wave had passed under you?

      Potentially, timing is very important, seconds can make all the difference

    • @AmberMaloneAZ

      Don't you dare be scared, friend. You can do it! I'm 40 years old. I live inland so my option is a Flowrider (artificial wave 40mph) only open 3 months a year. I went once a week for two summers and landed a small jump last summer. (Closed this summer for Covid 😭) The video is on my channel if you don't believe me. I'm also quite overweight. Watch several videos from How To Rip and Kales Broccoli, every day. Train/exercise every day. Be brave and follow your dreams. Do not wait.

      No Reece, if you are a confident swimmer, select a safe beach with appropriate waves to learn on and have someone to learn with. Of course every sport has risks. Have a chat with your local surf shop about safe beaches to learn at!
