Knew those seats very well. By the time I was going, it was $4 for adults, $2 for kids. Those cups of fries and nachos were the best. They dropped off when the new stadium opened. Great memories.
I remember these seats very well. May, June, July and August these seats were frying pans. Hot as hell but man did I love it out there as a kid. Watch Nolan Ryan a few times there. I even got a homerun ball from Ruben Sierra.
I miss that place. My great grandfather was an integral part of getting the Rangers here(C.W. "Punch" Wright). I still have his woolen FW Spurs jersey they gave him when he broke ground on the this stadium. My brother has the gold plated shovel. Turnpike Stadium was it's original name.
I sat out in the bleachers a lot as a kid. In the late '80s and early '90s, I started sitting in the low upper deck 3rd base side. You can see it for a split second being panned at :29 in the video. If you look closely, the seats are angled back toward the pitchers mound. In my opinion, these are some of the best seats in the stadium. You get the best look at the entire field and see everything develop. From behind the plate, you don't see the outfield as well.
@@paleo704 it was a minor league stadium to begin with. FW Spurs. Also, it was built in the 60s. I'm not sure what you'd expect from a 60s minor league park they added onto over the years.
Nice simple servicable ball park. I like efficecent and not overdoing things without a purpose. This was a nice place allowed everyone to see the game w.o. distraction. B in Arlington is superior and gem, but this new park sucks with the Barn and Astro Turf.

Yeah can’t forget all the drunks out there as a kid in the early 80s lol.
Those 7:05 first pitch games were still 96 degrees, with the sun blaring on you in the outfield
@@justinroark88 Yes it was a oven
Left field up High was the worst
Awesome !!

Sat there in the cheap seats plenty of times and loads of fun
Jeff Burroughs was my favorite player back then.
I Loved the old Rangers Stadium in the 80s

That was a fun stadium. I miss it.
I miss those bleachers. Sad the new ballpark doesn't have any.
Arlington is a HOT city. Building a dome was their attempt at winning a World Series
It seems to be working.
It worked.
I was born in June of 1975.
Miss the old turnpike stadium, now stadiums are disposable. Teams want a new one every 18 years or so.
Turnpike stadium was both a dump and a sauna. Minor league parks at the time were nicer. I do agree with you on your disposal comment though

Is that Crazy Ray from the Cowboys at :25?
Crazy Ray in the house!
Pretty wild how you don't see a lot of Rangers merchandise being worn, as compared to today.
Jerseys weren't really a thing until the 00s
Had to go to the mall for merch
No one is fat. I love it.
Plenty of fat chicks at those games.
Thought that was Tucker Carlson at 1:48 but he would have been like 6 at this time.😂

Rangers fans are the BEST--they expect their players to DO BETTER!
0:50 Lol i thought he was joking at first, he really hates that dude
Nosebleed Section
$3.85
Is that Dick Risenhoover?
Sitting on metal bleachers on 97 degree night in August, sounds like fun
Did it a couple of times. It was torture. Rangers were too cheap to pay for plastic.
0:11 Ted Bundy alert. He looks thinner without his arm cast.
Does anybody remember dime beer afternoon games? By the 9th inning the bleachers smelled like a can of stale beer.
