That little girl will be remember being held by the future countess when she, the little girl, is an old lady and will treasure these memories. I remember things from being a toddler and it's amazing now how strong those memories are. Being a toddler on a porch in the middle of Appalachia in the rain and the early 1960's. The smells, the feels, the atmosphere. the people it was such a memory. So will this little girl remember.
Any other campers hoping it never rains there? For long term that tent should be up on a platform. So should the bed. Van/skoolie dwellers know if you don't have air circulating under your mattress it molds due to condensation. Everywhere I've tent camped it's dewey in the morning before the sun comes up. Water is going to drain down that hill right over that dug out wall and just pool around the tent. 😔 Need to get it up off the ground. Other than that really super cool! Good luck!
Glamping and rewilding will be a hit. I love the word rewilding: I've been doing that with a bit of land I own...over the pond...in Canada. Seeing nature return in all its beauty has been humbling.
GLAMPPERTON - "Our Inn Tent to share exquisite views & England's heritage"... A lovely segment on the evolving new craze - to put some Wow in your Vows! Good luck - take some time to chill, intro the cameos aka it's not a contest about me-me.
Awesome! I stayed in a Yurt once and it was so much fun. English country side is so beautiful. You need to include a honeymoon tent for your wedding couples - lol.
If it's too damp on the ground, you can build a wooden platform for the tent to sit on and it won't be so cold to sleep on the ground. Also the platform can have a small verandah or deck to put 2 chairs on. Also have you seen yurts ? They are huge round tents. Really nice, and you can put 2 beds in there. Good luck with it all. Great views on the property.
It would be so much nicer if the tents had a platform to raise them off the ground and slightly improve the amazing view. Plus, of course, help to keep small critters out of the tent. I can envision pretty flower and herb pots on the edge of the round platform.
I have never gone camping, however, that gorgeous view, the promise of magical white cattle in the morning might just entice me to try it. The bed looks quite comfortable and the campfire in the evening must be very peaceful. Lovely camping opportunity. Congratulations to all who worked so hard. Well done.
Congratulations to all of you. I live in Southern California USA and have been camping all of my 63+ years. That is glamping . Prayers for success. Everyone is itching to get out of the house and have some fun.
Hi found your channel last week with the" swimming with the frogs" and I was hooked! The house, the gardens, the cottage, and all that you are doing with the estate is truly wonderful. Its truly fascinating to think how people in the 17th or 18th century ( or even earlier) lived. Enjoying all the videos so far. From Canada 🇨🇦
The Glamping idea is wonderful. Combining it with the "Rewilding" sounds amazing! I like the shower and loo area. It looks really nice. The views are beautiful.Love from Vermont
I would love to go glamping. It just looks soo relaxing and peaceful. The little girl is just adorable. She looks to be about the age of my oldest granddaughter. The shower and lue are wonderful. I live in Texas and we are on a deer lease. We call our lue an outhouse. Thanks to the young man who said to put hay and wood shavings in the bucket to keep the smell down. I learned 2 new things on this episode. 1: I didn't know what clamping was. It's a fancy way of camping. 2: I didn't know about how to keep the smell down in a lue/ outhouse.
What about a hut for a double wide, porcelain bath or small, wooden hot tub with holders/trays along the sides, optional canopy, and various colored light options. I'd love to start the day with a hot bath and coffee. I look forward to a time when travel is truly open. Thank you for sharing your beautiful land and being conscientious stewards. P.S. Nestor is absolutely brilliant. He is already a naturalist ahead of his years.
Looks awesome! I'm wondering about having the tent on the ground. Do you think you'll need to raise it up on a platform to help with the rain run-off? (personal experience of floating out the bottom of the tent during a rain storm...I digress...) Julie, you are such a Midwest girl...can't wait to watch more of Mapperton, love from Palatine (IL)!
The field is nicely sloping, so the rain would run off down the valley in the event of heavy downpours. The grass is starting to grow around the front of the tent now too, which makes a big difference. Thank you for your support.
Now that I found your channels...I'm binge watching...! 😁😊 Such fun, you have great content...and yes, we love Raymond (and all your Mapperton family)🥰
OMG! Love the shape of the tent & the décor! It would be really cool if in the future since it is "Glamping" lol. To decorate one of those tents in like a Moroccan / Arabian style of décor & one as if on an African safari. That would be amazing. ooooohhhhh maybe even one a bit more off to itself for more of a very romantic getaway. Just think it would draw a lot more people lol. But then I am a bit of a romantic lol. The idea is awesome. Unfortunately, I am in America & would be more difficult to utilize. Great Idea & kudos to whoever came up with the idea to begin with. Over time, you could add so many more amenities.
Awesome idea! Great view! Gonna start a drinking game with these videos. Haven’t got it all figured out yet. But if Julie tells you she’s American in less then 3 minutes into the video you have to chug your drink.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to host themed festivals along with the glamping? Maybe even allow people to bring their own tents during the festival week until you have set up more bell tents?
Haha Everybody loves Raymond (American sitcom) yes we do! Loves both the TV show and your Raymond. I could signup for Glamping in a New York minute with those views. Love rewilding so much. Reference the Lou .. I use oak leaves in my chicken coup and it cuts out the odor of chicken droppings. Wonderful!
I am new to the channel. I am really enjoying it. Love the rewilding. Tip: No toilet paper, even biodegradable, down your wild loo will go a long way to no smell.
Oh I love your Glamping setup there. If I was in the UK I would be making a reservation. I would not want to ruin that beautiful view with my Winnebago RV.
I’ve decorated many houses/spaces in my life and this looks gorgeous, you used the same tones that you can find out side the tent. There is always room for growth so I would just recommend having more greenery inside even if it dried dead flowers. You can work with what ever your personal Climate/Maintaince/Budget is but always remember to finish accessorizing at the end 💐🤍
Wow. Very very beautiful and quiet out there. Very special, very British Isles. I live in Michigan in the States. Much of our nature area's are very similar to British flora and fauna, but there are differences, this is an example of one of them. Lovely.
A longer drone shot video of the countryside would be a good way to advertise the glamping - I think a few minutes would be good. The few seconds there are in this video aren't really enough. A couple of shots of other beauty spots for walking/hiking or other tourist spots around Dorset that are easy to get to an it could increase business.
You need to add either pea gravel or mulch around your glamping campsites To protect guests from really muddly ground after the numerous rain you will undoubtedly recieve.
Y'now, I am likely not ever gonna make it your way, but wanted to throw my support behind your glamping idea!!! It is a wonderful idea and I would do it in a second if I wasn't 1000's of miles away lol! Hi from the US!!
Hi there. I have enjoyed your You Tube channel. Glad to see you venture into "Glamping". Nice set up. However, as much as it rains in England, you might consider putting your tents on platforms to get them off the ground. As an experienced camper in canvas tents (20+years), I can tell you that the 1. you will get mud splatters on your tent, which will shorten the life of your tents (the dirt has acids in it that will deteriorate the canvas). 2. I see that your bed is enclosed in a wooden frame, but does it lift it off the straw mat rug you have in there? When it rains, the ground will soak up wet and that rug will wick it up, and if there is no separation, the bed will wick it up, too. Trust me, been there, and had wet bedding. and 3. I noticed that it looks like you dug away part of the hill to make a flat spot for the tent. If you do not trench around the tent, the water from rain will pass through your tents. One last comment... you will likely have to replace the canvas every year. The weather (particularly the sun), will take its toll on the canvas. I had a friend that tried to live in a commercially made canvas tent for a year. it was in shreds after several months exposure to the elements.
Thank you for all your comments! We are making wooden platforms for the tents so that they are raised off the ground and to help with drainage! Our tents are also only up for July & August so get must let wear and tear than they would if up all year. Have a great day!
I went to something similar in an African game refuge, you would go around the refuge in a jeep during the day and have a very nice “picnic” at lunch and then spend the evening in this huge tent like the ones shown here. You're going to want to put some little flags on those tent lines. We had a little screen tent up & I kept stepping on them, tripping over them, & nearly choked myself.
It looks like a really good start and oh, what a view! I would suggest a couple of more comfortable outdoor chairs and a wooden deck with a mat on at the opening of the tent so that if it gets muddy you have somewhere to wipe your feet.
This is beautiful, I'd love to glamp there. But Julie, please don't put any sort of oil into the compost, it bothers the microbes. But you could used dried herbs.

Thank you! Yes we are building platforms for the tents, but they weren’t constructed in time for the video 👍
Glamping and rewilding will be a hit. I love the word rewilding: I've been doing that with a bit of land I own...over the pond...in Canada. Seeing nature return in all its beauty has been humbling.
That's amazing, we can all do something to help nature!
It’s a huge part of the BBC’s The Archers storyline. Otherwise I wouldn’t have a clue. But yes, sounds great.
Their little girl is absolutely adorable! Kids grow so fast. Enjoy it while it lasts lol. Just precious.
I'm not one for 'camping' but Glamping sounds marvelous!!!! I would definitely try that! As long as you don't have snakes, I'm fine!!!!!
I love how British people all stand outside in their jumpers and jackets and say "we're so lucky with the weather today" 👀🤣🤣 so cute ❤️
How loving is Julie towards the beautiful little girl. Lovely to witness. Great set up with those bell tents x
GLAMPPERTON - "Our Inn Tent to share exquisite views & England's heritage"...
A lovely segment on the evolving new craze - to put some Wow in your Vows!
Good luck - take some time to chill, intro the cameos aka it's not a contest about me-me.
That would be great for a honeymoon! You need to include Champaign ,flowers chocolate and ice bucket! Furry rug In front of the fire!
What a great idea, we should set up a honeymoon package...
YES to this!! Or a wedding anniversary package. Would love it!
Awesome! I stayed in a Yurt once and it was so much fun.
English country side is so beautiful.
You need to include a honeymoon tent for your wedding couples - lol.

I am in love with British heritage and country side , thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Glad you enjoyed it
Glampimg is “where it’s at”! I was glampimg years ago. There is no need for camping to be a miserable affair. Glamping! Yes! Bring it on!! 🥂
I have never gone camping, however, that gorgeous view, the promise of magical white cattle in the morning might just entice me to try it. The bed looks quite comfortable and the campfire in the evening must be very peaceful. Lovely camping opportunity. Congratulations to all who worked so hard. Well done.

Found out about this channel today and I am already in love with Mapperton and all of you 💗 Lots of love from Brazil 🇧🇷
Greetings! We hope you enjoy all our videos.
By the way the platform for the tent has to be about 1 foot above ground. Looks good.
"I'm going to sage the hay and the saw dust."- Julie. I just lo💙e you.
Nailed it! King beds! Fancy loos! HOT SHOWERS!!! And the cattle! Looking forward to seeing more! Fantastic job everyone!
Thank you!
The Glamping idea is wonderful. Combining it with the "Rewilding" sounds amazing! I like the shower and loo area. It looks really nice. The views are beautiful.Love from Vermont
I have never wanted to camp, until now ❤️ it looks so peaceful and cozy.
I'd recommend having a rug and a bench just inside to take off footwear and keep the tent cleaner.
I would love to go glamping. It just looks soo relaxing and peaceful. The little girl is just adorable. She looks to be about the age of my oldest granddaughter. The shower and lue are wonderful. Gorgeous countryside - would love to stay! You are all doing such an amazing job with everything at Mapperton!
Thank you so much!
Now that I found your channels...I'm binge watching...! 😁😊 Such fun, you have great content...and yes, we love Raymond (and all your Mapperton family)🥰
The estate is huge. Beautiful. I think the camping will be popular. Btw, It’s camping instead of glamping if don’t have a spatula. Lol
Absolutely loved your enthusiasm on this video. What a great team you have there!
Yes, we have a wonderful team at Mapperton!
Raymond's "two bar" test is what you call a rule of thumb.
You should make a shelter for your cooking area. You have to be able to cook in any weather. Lotsa love from 🇨🇦
They have the in-tent stove which doubles as a place to cook.

I would go glamping there for that view!! Is just breathtaking❣️.
That looks like so much fun! ⛺️
what a fantastic idea!! You could totally run LARPING and RolePlaying type games too. It's a huge business for castles and land like yours!
Awesome idea! Great view!
Gonna start a drinking game with these videos. Haven’t got it all figured out yet. But if Julie tells you she’s American in less then 3 minutes into the video you have to chug your drink.
I love that you are keeping everything the way it SHOULD BE! Sharing your life and Estate with the world is AWESOME.
If you get stronger tent stakes the lines can be staked off closer to the tent.
The progress you’re making is wonderful.
You could grow lavender for the hay/sawdust to help also...
Wow I’m coming over . Looks absolutely beautiful.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to host themed festivals along with the glamping? Maybe even allow people to bring their own tents during the festival week until you have set up more bell tents?
Such beautiful countryside! Glamming is a great idea!
It really is! Thank you for your comment and continued support.
This is a fantastic idea and it looks beautiful and cozy! I love camping and especially glamping. What a wonderful location, I'm sold!
Oh my gosh, what a cute little one ❤

Love the tents , planning my next holiday ❤️
QUESTION? I SEE A POWERLINE. WILL THERE BE LIGHTING FOR THE SHOWER & LOO? Maybe the tents? Curious
Next time I can travel across to Britain I will have to visit Mapperton. Your glamping set up is brilliant!
Please come and stay!
I was wondering why you didn't already have this... your land is perfect for it!!! Love ur videos... and a ex fellow Chicagoan!!
Thanks 👍 Julie says Hi!

The grass should be able to cope. I estimate that the land is on chalk. There should be no problems with drainage.
Was glad to catch the 1st episode on rewilding and now this glampping today. It is super cool
OMG! This is fantastic! 😃
Y'now, I am likely not ever gonna make it your way, but wanted to throw my support behind your glamping idea!!! It is a wonderful idea and I would do it in a second if I wasn't 1000's of miles away lol! Hi from the US!!
Its great glamping i went with grandsons and daughter loved it x
Wonderful work from everyone involved :)
Thank you Iuin. Please consider subscribing, if you haven't done so already.
As usual, brilliant.👍
Lovely 🌹 Marvelous day with delightful people.💞
Best Wishes in your new venture.🥂
Thank you for sharing glamping ideas. Greetings from north Alabama, USA!!!
Glad you like them!
Looks lovely ,
Thank you 😊
Instead of oil you can put dried flowers/ herbs in the hays and / or sawdust.
Cecily would have so much fun at Camp Bestival at Lulworth Castle not far from Mapperton. Fond memories of camping in Dorset.
Not going to lie, its the family dynamic for me!
Thank you John!

Nice tent!
Sooo exited I love your videos so much it’s so fascinating and cool what you guys are doing
Thank you for your kind words
Great watching and the weather there looks great
I went to something similar in an African game refuge, you would go around the refuge in a jeep during the day and have a very nice “picnic” at lunch and then spend the evening in this huge tent like the ones shown here. By the way I am not totally sure how it worked out but we spent the night on private land and we might have gone onto a reserve during the day.
This reminds me of camping in Yosemite in 1974, The tents were very well equipped and a comfortable bed in them. You were not allowed a fire, so we went to the cafe for breakfast, We were on a tight budget so we had grapefruit and cereal first, They had a concrete pad and the tent was on top. They even had lights, we were groping round in the dark and suddenly I pulled a cord and there was light.
They are a bit pricy. They only seem to be available in August.
We only have a license for 28 days so they are only available in August.

@@MappertonLive Try the Freedom camping club, They seem to have Glamping as part of their portfolio.
I don’t usually have a chance to check in Live but I truly look forward to your epis… ☺️. Glamping sounds fun!
Thank you for your continued support, we hope you enjoy lots more videos from us.
Glamping looks fun and got to love the toilets at Mapperton.
You're hilarious :-) "Sage-ing the hay," I was startled when you were :-)
Some solar lights would be a good addition. Also, they come in many different sizes. Not sure how mug sunshine they need to charge , but May be worth experimenting
I like everything on all the videos
Great idea!!!
We sowed grass seeds at the front which are starting to grow now, so the mud shouldn't be too much of an issue. Thank you for the suggestions though 😊
Wonderful
You should do well with this. Camping is very popular in the states.
This project is going to be a success ,I’ve been telling ppl abt your channel 💕❤️ 🇬🇧
With Love from Washington DC
Excellent
I think you need to put the tents up on platforms! Otherwise they will become boats!
QUESTION? I was watching & thought how wonderful a small pond to play in when it's hot? Maybe turn it into a fishing pond as well?
This is beautiful, I'd love to glamp there. But Julie, please don't put any sort of oil into the compost, it bothers the microbes. But you could used dried herbs.
Many essential oils are anti bacterial etc. I agree with the dried herbs. A good composting loo should not smell.
I don’t know much about summertime in the UK why don’t you have a bandstand or a stage to put on summer concerts on your estate or small intimate concerts orchestra symphony with finger sandwiches like what they call an English tea outside overlooking the garden area
We occasionally host concerts in the All Saints Church, connected to the House. The acoustics in there are wonderful. Thank you for the suggestion.
OMG IM SO EXCITED!
