Good stuff - especially appreciated how the videos went over different routing options depending on runner preference/risk tolerance (instead of just covering the WR's route).
DQ7 took me OVER 200 hours even on the 3DS version heck if I were to play the 3DS version and ONLY master 3 HUMAN jobs on all 5 party members and NONE of the MONSTER classes my LV 99 Save file WOULD still BE at least 70 HOURS long.
Wow. Best & most informative all-in-1 DQ video I've ever seen. Speedrunning or not. Amazing concept and execution! Thx Cleartonic, Haktical, and TheCowness! Awesome Vid, thanks to all who contributed to this. Rewatch value thru the roof...
VERY well made video! Only minor feedback is that I wished that at the end of each game, an estimated complete time were given so it would be easier to gauge the scale of the run and game :)
It’s pretty interesting to see DQ remake, because in the west, I pretty much only seen people speed run the NES version. I mean it makes sense, because it wasn’t released here, but it is still kinda weird considering that the Super Famicom version is the definitive version. Anyways great video.
Thank you so much for making this. I have been a fan of the Dragon Quest series for a long time, but alas the interest in the series in the United States seems lacking. I can tell that a lot of effort and love went into making this video.
When you say "optional stuff", what are you referring to? It's a speedrun - any resources acquired are for doing everything from leveling faster to mitigating safety. DQ1 in particular has a very rock solid speedrun route developed over the course of this game's history. It might seem out of the way for something here or there, but skipping certain things would cause the player's efficiency (through journeying, leveling up or gathering money) to come to a halt, and the player would bleed time quickly
It seems Speedrun strats for NES version of DQ1 isn't polished enough due to being less popular as speedrun material than its SNES version. (interestingly enough, speedrun strats for SNES version also incorporates visiting Cantlin, but to pick up Defense Seed and Magic Acorn that was added in this version) That being said, level 17 is way too underleveled to delve into the Dragonlord's Castle (recommended 21 or 22 for casual playthrough), so any damage reduction against trash mobs seems to be welcomed to cut off the usage of herbs and healmore.
duude it was such a missed opportunity them mobilizing DQ 1-3 with the new sprites n art- I wish they had just brought over the snes versions and translated them Edit: then again we gettin the HD-2D remakes soooooo 🥴
If you think I'm gonna sit here watching this 3-hour long Dragon Quest RTA lore you are absolutely correct.
every speedgame needs a guide like this. love it.

So cool to see some of the less well known members of Essentia's community getting involved. Keep it up!
16 hour speedrun on 7?! That takes huge dedication. It took me over 100+ hours to beat the game and I didn’t even know you could recruit monsters.
Huh. I also didn't know you can recruit monsters in 7. I'll keep that in mind for my playthrough.

Currently going thru the series and now I'm on VII. This was helpful.
Love the summary slides as you go along. Took a lot of work, thank you for putting in so much time!

Awesome dive into the entire mainline DQ series here, was fun being a part of it and thanks for all the effort of putting it together!

Wow! Thank you so much for this video!
You're welcome!
Easily the best video on the topic, I hope you eventually make more videos exploring different strategies
OMG this is crazy amount of info. You guys NEED more views.
Very informative video. Even if you aren't into sowedrunning hearing the methods are very entertaining
VERY well made video! Only minor feedback is that I wished that at the end of each game, an estimated complete time were given so it would be easier to gauge the scale of the run and game :)
Wasn't expecting this video to be interesting, but I was wrong.
This man literally posted a nearly 3 hr deep dive into DQ speedrunning, and dropped the mic & left.
This man must be Erdrick

What’s weird is he used the SNES strategies for at least DQ 1 and 2 but nobody on the leaderboards uses it.
I saw only DW7 part and it looks well-made. It would be better if there was mention of vertical movement.
Awesome video. Any chance of more vids on this? Ex other categories or consoles, like DQ9 Solo Hero etc
Or spinoffs like Monsters/Jokers/Tact, etc
Possibly! This video was a lot of effort. If there's a lot of interest, it might happen!
Thank you so much for you hard work !
Not sure if you ever plan to upload again but this video is very well made and informative.

video unclear
accidentally speedran the whole final fantasy series:(
DQ1's sprite looks like a hamster
Quality content ❤
Good job !
Extremely good video but I do wish there was more than one song playing during the whole thing lol
are the dq5 speedruns for both versions the same?
2:49:54 16 hours for DQ7
Dang those slabs
Do you have guides for DQ8 JP on PS2?
How you skip jade on the dq11 speedrun due the golden iceberg and the need of the harp
That DQ1 path does a whole bunch of optional stuff. I don't really see how that's optimal when you could just skip a ton of it..?

I wished you Mentioned the Equipment before every boss fight. Good video Nonetheless.
in a speed run why even go to Cantlin in DQ 1? No reason to, it only has a silver shield that you can skip.

I mean that’s what the mobile ports ultimately are.
@@thomasffrench3639 Nah fam DQ 1, 2 had an overhaul on the pixel art and DQ3 lost the monster sprites and animations
@@R-Otaku747 yeah, but they might not have the source code
God I wish I can play x offline in English.
I played it in English and it was epic
Btw fighter is better than warrior in every conceivable way and you should never play a warrior in this game for any reason.
Dq 11 was a let down.
