Is there a particular type of wool used to get the rainbow drop effect? Its a beautiful poncho. Love it.

I used King Cole Tropical Beaches shade Clearwater Beach for the multi coloured round, any multi coloured yarn will work well

I really, really love this hooded poncho but feel compelled to say that that string should be left off. It's a very bad idea to put a string around an infant or small child's neck

I have showed how to do the string as the poncho is also for older children and adults and written a note about not suitable for babies

my grandmother made me and my two sisters ponchos when we were little girls, and they had the string with the pompoms on them. I LOVED those pompoms. I guess you could just attach them to each side.
Life is full of risks, though, unfortunately. I had a friend who lost a son at two when he ran out the back door behind his siblings, tripped and fell--hitting his poor little head just "right" on the concrete. He was life-flighted to the hospital, but didn't make it. Not trying to be depressing, but I kinda get tired of people pointing out every little thing that could be dangerous for children. We no longer have diving boards at pools, nor the fun playground equipment we enjoyed as kids. sad, really.
