I am in the middle of making my first moses basket right now for my grandson who is arriving in May. This is perfect timing because it addresses some of the questions I had. Thank you, beautiful work! I am obsessed!
So so glad I came across your video as I’m about to embark on my first Moses basket and this tutorial was so easy to follow and understand. Thank you so so much.
I've just completed this for my daughter who's expecting in February but giving to her as a birthday gift tomorrow - I'm making the tassels now. I learnt how to crochet just to complete this project and I'm extremely pleased with how easy it was to follow your instructions and to complete - although, as you warned, it did take a toll on my hand so had to take frequent breaks. I had a few issues in making sure the sides were completely straight and am not completely happy with my invisible joining to get to the next row but I'm sure that would get better with practice - at least it's on the inside. I'm thinking of adding a liner to it which can be washed but that's for later - I need to research how to do. Thank you so much for this tutorial
Thank you so much for this video as I’m looking to start my first Moses basket too! Very excited and such a very easy explained video! So thank you! And amazing work! I can’t stop watching this video! ❤
I don't know why watching this video became so sentimental to me. This is quite amazing to see this come to fruition. I am now a HUGE FAN of your crafts. Thank you so so much for sharing this. Takes the heat out of what to make for a baby gift. This is quite an heirloom for new moms and dads.
I’m so excited to have found this! I just found out my daughter is expecting her second child. I’ve just recently discovered crochet and can’t wait to make this! Thank you!
Good morning carol, may I ask did you use the same yarn ,an how many did you need please.I am also in UK an have 4 hanks in basket on Amazon.many thanks
@@sonjabirch5533 Hi, I used the same yarn as in the video, I bought it from the bobbiny website and paid 19.99 per ball. I used 4 balls but the base I used was slightly smaller than the American size. I did make it with the hood and had some left over. You may be able to get away with 3 balls if you do the smaller base like me, but I didn’t want to chance it. Hope this helps, by the way it turned out lovely 😊
I have never done any Crochet before this project and this was very quick and turned out perfectly. My husband made our own base with 100 holes and got it etched with a message on the bottom. Thank you for this fantastic tutorial so easy to follow!
How did he make it with the 100 holes( dimensions etc) I have a friend that has a glow forge that I’m thinking would work and I love the idea of having a message added on the bottom
So I just ordered a new base. My old base has 118 holds. I am going to start over once it arrives since I have two more months. lol I like the way you do the stitches to the base better in this version, so will start over and see if I can make due with the 86-90 holes. I kept feeling this one had way too many holes. I didn't skip any, but the stitches aren't as neat looking, they seem very cramped. But skipping holes didn't look nice to me. I'll update more once i get the new base and begin again!
@@lissac67 I agree. My first base had 108 holes. I took it down to 100 and it was perfect. Now the largest base I can get has 84 holes and I am struggling with the wall staying straight. They lean in. I have ripped it out so many times the cord is looking fuzzy. Idk
Omg your video is truly amazing seriously. I love the fact that you say to take a rest because my hands were killing me. I have tried making a Moses basket before and gave up. Your video is perfect. Great updated version! Thank you! I made two of the old version for a friends twins and will make two additional for the May and June arrivals of a great niece and nephew! I was very sore with neck/back/hand pain for days after finishing the first two but it’s so worth it!! You didn’t add the extra corner stitches in this version..the basket’s appearance is much improved without them! Thank you for your clear, patient, slow paced tutorial! I love all of them!
I finished this version of the basket with the new base! I used the linked wood base in the same size (29.5"x16") and mine had 86 holes. I did the basket 3 times to get the hook size right, but ended up doing one stitch in every hole with a 15mm hook. I did the non-hooded version and it came out great!
Hi @lauren ! Did you use the 15mm hook for all the rounds, including the setup round? My basket is narrowing using the 86 hole base and 9mm hook, so a I am going to try the 15mm hook you mentioned, but wondering how far back I should unravel my basket. Thanks!

Hi! Thank you so much for your lovely tutorial! Plan on making this for my first grandbaby! I purchased the wooden base at the store you recommended but the amount of holes on the same size base you listed, came to be 86 and not 110. Wondering if keeping the base and adjusting the stitches would work or if I should return the base… Can you please advise? thank you
The vendor recently sent me a version of the base with 86 holes. I will work with it this weekend so I can give you all an exact answer. Thank you for your patience.
Hi! Thank you for your reply. I started the project before seeing your message. I stopped on row 11 just before starting the hood You talk abour a bundle of shorter cords but can't find any references to the amount and length of those cords/bundles anywhere. Can you please point me to where that information is? Thanks so much

Thank you. I bought one but it's too big for the board I purchased. My board only has 104 holes in it. I'll have to send this one back and but another.
I've never done anything like this before. I'm going to attempt making one. Is there any thing I need to know, I've seen some people say there's ended up turning in. Making me nervous as I just want it perfect 🥰 your work is amazing ❤
You may or may not need to. This project requires a bit of trial and error for the first few rows. I would first start off by crocheting into each hole and seeing how it begins to shape up as you work. If it tapers in it could be two things: your tension is tight and you need to size up a hook or it may be that you may need to strategically add a few increases in row one.
I am getting ready to start this project. I am making the hood design. You have made it all look so very simple & elegant to follow your instructions. I want to add an accent color. 1 row around the center and then around the edge. Do you have instructions or advice? Thank you
I have started and ripped mine out so many times...the side keep going floppy...any suggestions please....my base has 117 holes 10mm wide....I am using 9mm braided cord...I tried an increase at each corner without any difference 🤔

Has anyone in the uk managed to get a mattress to fit 17" x 30.5" if so where from please?.
Have you checked Amazon?
What size of mattress would you use for this
Pick a mattress that is the same size as the base you use.
I’m getting one cut at a mattress place
Excellent video!
My base has only 86 holes. I havent started yet but sny idea how to go about this
Can I make it with bernat blanket yarn?
This is simply beautifully gorgeous 😍
Thank you! 😊
Hello! Thank you for your video. It’s been incredibly helpful. I’m making my first Moses basket for my baby (coming soon) and am super excited for it. However, my basket has become a bit flimsy. I’m not sure what I did wrong and how to fix it now. Thank you for your response in advance.
Thank you! Send pictures of your progress so far to the email listed in the description box so I can better assist you.

Hey! Such a good tutorial and it was very easy to follow. Do you diy the bed also? I cant find any readymade ones where im from and neither can i find any diy tutorials for the bed. Can you help out on this?
Have you tried searching Amazon or Etsy for bassinet mattresses?
Question..after you do the invisible join, do you chain one before starting your SC for every row?
No, you would just make the next stitch.
Good morning, can you tell me what i could be doing wrong? Because my project has spaces in between the stitches and shows the board and is not close like yours
Hello,
Please send pictures of your base and your project to the email in the description box so I can better assist you.

I stopped on row 11 just before starting the hood
You talk abour a bundle of shorter cords but can't find any references to the amount and length of those cords/bundles anywhere. Can you please point me to where that information is? Thanks so much
@yarnTh3ory Would you please provide instructions for the hood , specifically the cords to cut: how many and what length? I am stuck there. 😢 thanks ❤
Hello, my cords were pre cut because I had made the bassinet once before recording. You will work from your bundle and cut the cords as you go.
Muito muito obrigada pelo video era tudo que eu queria.. vou fazer p meu neto tbm...ameiii.. obrigada ❤❤
Very beautiful ❤️
I’m going to have a go at making this for my niece, she’s due in April so I have time for trial and error
This is so beautiful ❤
Thank you!
Absolute excellent tutorial video, clear explanations right to the point - thank you and bless you
You're very welcome!
Can anyone tell me where you purchased the mattress for the basket?
Amazon
Thank you. I bought one but it's too big for the board I purchased. My board only has 104 holes in it. I'll have to send this one back and but another.
I am trying g to make this and as I was on row 6..it was starting to fold in..is this because I was working too tight or I needed to skip holes?
I got the same hun just keep going
Gorgeous!
I've never done anything like this before. I'm going to attempt making one. Is there any thing I need to know, I've seen some people say there's ended up turning in. Making me nervous as I just want it perfect 🥰 your work is amazing ❤
Hi there, my board has 92 holes would i need to make any adjustments or strictly follow the pattern ? Thanks in advance for your help
Thanks for the advice wish me luck 🤞
I am getting ready to start this project. I am making the hood design. You have made it all look so very simple & elegant to follow your instructions. I want to add an accent color. 1 row around the center and then around the edge.
Do you have instructions or advice?
Thank you
I have started and ripped mine out so many times...the side keep going floppy...any suggestions please....my base has 117 holes 10mm wide....I am using 9mm braided cord...I tried an increase at each corner without any difference 🤔
Can you send me an email with pictures so I can better assist you?
