- Neutrophils are important effector cells in the innate arm of the immune system . They constantly patrol the organism for signs of microbial infections, and when found, these cells quickly respond to trap and kill the invading pathogens. this video talks about the biological function of neutrophils in details.

I have Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. I take Ibrutinib for it. It works well for me. My white blood cell count has gone from 90 K/uL to below 8 K/uL (much more normal count). One thing that was noticeable in my blood work when I was first becoming aware of my condition was a total lack of neutrophils. As a result, I would often have trouble healing from the tiniest cut. I would end up with large red swelling around a tiny cut and it would take forever to heal. My whole hand swole up once after a small cut. I also got some kind of fungal infection that required an ointment. Recently I had my bloodwork done and I now have an absolute neutrophil count of 2.2 K/uL (1.8-8.4 is normal) which is much better than 0 from a year ago. Thank you for this presentation.
Thanks for sharing your story
neutrophils doesnt affect your healing. Its the thrombocytes. Ibrutinib decreases the thrombocytes causing thrombocytopenia which decrease the healing. Try switching to Acalabrutimib and it doesnt have that side effect and works better.
