I wonder how much Paul page was getting paid to do both IRL and CART races. Paul page deep down must have been disappointed in the whole Indycar split mess and he hasn’t really spoke about it since reunification.
rob mush some ppl don’t like him I feel like and maybe for me it’s nostalgia but man I would take this team or one of the similar ones from the era over today’s in a second. My dream team would have Bobby Unser but the gas man is solid too but to be fair I wouldn’t say he’s necessarily any better than Paul Tracy or Townsend Bell but still overall
He was employed by ABC and ESPN, so he had to do as he was told. One his homepage, he hasn't said much about the split, other than that the Indy 500 he used to know died to him in 1996. He'll release an autobiography shortly as of 2021, so expect many more words on the split.
@@ILSRWY4 CART was better racing, better cars, better drivers, better tracks and you're happy it died. thank god indycar is trying to go back to where CART was
LOL "first real blow" IRL was a minor league series.....just look at that elite driver line up.....Tony Stewart vs. a bunch of CART rejects, the severely washed up and a fucking dentist
these indycars sound like NASCAR cup cars.
The fucking sound of the cars was a crime.......
Tony must have loved these engines I would he may not have I just remember those damn pop off valves lol
Tough break for Tony Stewart. Reminds me of Joe Ruttman at Richmond in 1982. Almost an identical story line in a rain shortened race.
It's nice to have the man who broke the 200 mph barrier at Indy as a color comentator
Lol tom Seneva like one lap into the race “if you like NASCAR for the noise you’re gonna love the IRL” you could almost hear him roll his eyes.
That’s paul page ?
Novos carros dessa indy Racing league amei

Paul Page didn't covered CART in 1997 and 1998. Bob Varsha replaced him till he moved to Speedvision in 1999.

Do you happen to have the 1999 race from here?
Only 19 cars...
Rough start
I still can't believe that Stewart blew it, that's ridiculous.
At 1:05:02 in the video, Cheever "flips off" someone.
Tom Sneva can you explain a chemtrail?
I do not.
The first real blow at taking those CART bastages down. Loved those 4.0L motors and the noise.
Yeah took CART down along with the Indy 500 and the rest of open wheel racing. Yeah great job you morons
The only moron is you... it was CART that failed, and the INDY 500 survived though it all...

@@ILSRWY4 Look at IndyCar today. Does it look more like CART, or more like the IRL? How much of Tony George's "vision" lives on?

Good god we’re these cars awful!!
The sound of these cars are cancerous.
