A couple of things about this race. First, note that, on the end credits it's mentioned that the race broadcast was directed by Les Becker. That means that Dynamic Films, or Custom Films, was involved with the production of the race broadcast, because Les Becker directed most, if not all of their race films going all the way back to the 1953 Indianapolis 500 film. It was hardly the only time ABC Sports and Custom/Dynamic Films worked together to produce races for ABC Sports' WWOS package in the 60s and early 70s prior to ABC Sports using their own video facilities for full video tape quality coverage of auto racing events. Also, this race would not mark the only time Bobby and Donnie Allison finished 1-2 at Charlotte. While Donnie took this battle, brother Bobby returned the favor a couple of years later when he won the first of what would be 3 World (Coca-Cola) 600s in 1971, when he took the win and brother Donnie, one day after finishing sixth at the Indianapolis 500 driving for A.J. Foyt, finished second driving for the Wood Brothers. This race would also mark the first of three wins for Donnie at Charlotte (of the 10 he amassed during his career), as he would also take the 1970 World 600 in dominating fashion (just six days after finishing fourth in that year's Indianapolis 500 behind only Al Unser, Mark Donohue, and Dan Gurney), as well as the National 500 in 1976, driving for Hoss Ellington, who had just changed his car number from 28 to 1.
Thank you, NASCAR! I've just watched all of the 1950s playlist, 92' Hooters 500, and 2001 Pepsi 400. Going to try to make it a goal to watch every race on the channel. Off-season goal I think... LOL
Donnie Allison's second career victory of what would eventually be ten wins!! I'm so happy this man will finally be inducted into NASCAR's HOF in 2024! I've been waiting for him to get his recognition since his older brother Bobby got inducted into the HOF back in 2011.... I can't believe I've been waiting 13 years for this to happen, but I also can't believe it TOOK 13 years for it to happen!!
It is very cool to watch the evolution of the sport. its only been ten years since 1959 stock car racing and the sport is already ten times faster and safer.
Nah just butthurt conservatives that love to bitch about anything they hate as being "woke". Y'all are so goddamn unoriginal y'all can't even come up with an original thought.
Sorry poor conservatives got their feelings hurt. Maybe you can keep completely about it since that's all y'all are good at. Sure as hell sick at trying to run the country
