Your videos are great bro ! I'm Venezuelan and I live in Caracas. I love the way you show sort of the reality that we're facing in our country. It's quite hard to understand all the political situation. Now you've seen both sides of the city, rich and poor neighborhood. You can see that some citizens are living their lives to the fullest as anything happens and others struggle with the chaos and crisis. Hope you enjoy your trip after all. Take care bro.
@Zoe P UK ain't nothing compared to venezuela because venezuela is just chaos with politics and that dickhead they call maduro. Them mangos I remember I went this year from April till July because my wife is venezuelan and the fruit is awesome straight from the tree I tasted new fruit that don't look good but its awesome.
Don't know if you're still in Caracas but you can also go up the Ávila via cable car, they allow cameras and the cable car even stops so you can take panoramic pictures of the city :) This way you can go to the Humbolt Hotel.
Yeah and by going to North Korea, he directly supported the Kim dictatorship. The money North Korea makes with AdVeNtUrOuS tourists does NOT go to the people. It goes directly into the governments pockets.
For the record, at 5:00, the government didn't really "change" the name because they just felt like it. That mountain was called waraira repano by the natives waaaaay before. When the spaniards conquered us, they called it Ávila. But the original name is waraira repano. Don't get me wrong, the government is shit, but that decision wasn't made out of nothing.
The natives waaaaay before were not the same natives as now. We call the modern Konisberg as Kalilingrad because it now belongs to a different population.
@@senselessnothing i still don't see the problem of changing the name to the original one. Maybe they want to honour the true natives and not the conquerors, who slaughtered so many people. Anyhow, i wouldn't blame the government on this one, the government is shit but not because of this
epalegmail The "true" natives, ie the natives before the current natives and ignoring the ones before them altogether, would have captured you and performed the most gorey ritual sacrifices and mutilations. These were not friendly people. Honoring them is insane.
Qué raro que los filochavistas del occidente nunca visitan Maracaibo. Siempre están en Caracas y guidado por el gobierno y otros lacayos y ratas promaduros.

@@veronicam2942 a lot of people there built their fortunes trading and investing from the 50s to the 90s. Corruption and insecurity was still a thing but not systematic how it is now. Most of the honest and hardworking people have left to greener pastures I already I am Venezuelan and left a while back
The ones who remains in Venezuela are linked to corrupt politicians or drug trade. I've a friend who ran away from that place and he said lots of disturbing things to me. The worse is that his family still love Maduro and live there. So he works here in Brazil and send money to his family in Venezuela since they don't want to immigrate because of their love for Maduro.
The Avila mountain was named that after a colony-era governor. The other, lesser-known name, Waraira Repano, comes from the native caribe tribe language. It means big mountain range. In the 2000s, Chavez's government's main goal was appealing to minorities. The indigenous groups in Venezuela are a minority; the caribe tribe doesn't even exist anymore. If I recall correctly most of them are in Amazonas/Bolivar (bordering Brazil, around the Amazon rainforest) and in Zulia. Chavismo's stronghold has always been minorities, the poor, the often overlooked. You saw this in Catia and 23 de Enero. They (at first) called for POC (even in a country as mixed as this), religious minorities, LGBTQ people. It denounced the catholic church, openly opposed the USA, and supported native religions. They drew them in with promises of inclusion. I guess chavismo forgot that. I didn't. I've lived all my life in chavismo. I've seen it all nosedive. - Min. wage is around 4$ today (7/28/19). Last week it was around 5$, maybe. A trip to the supermarket can be around 20$. - Government officials deride opponents with homophobic slurs. The opposition-led congress, with diverse people from around the country and LGBTQ representatives, has basically no power. The indigenous groups have been held from their promised seats. They have arrested, tortured, and kidnapped representatives. They haven't dared touch Guaido (a mixed man from a lower-income area who also grew with chavismo, who himself is just another representative), but they have invaded his home, arrested his second-in-commands, among other things. - There are no civil protections for LGBTQ people. - The goverment has massacred indigenous people in the borders. The FAES does this. They target mostly young men, so they can say "they were threatened", even when they had never done anything. I'm frustrating myself writing this lol The real reason they changed the name was to steal money. The process involving the name change includes signs, legal paperwork, a lot of things. More recently, they've silently changed the name of the Vargas state (the only state named after a civilian, Dr. Jose Maria Vargas) to La Guaira state, after the capital city. I'm guessing you're going there next. Haven't finished watching the video. Vargas is COVERED head-to-toe in signs of varying sizes and styles that spell its name. The one that comes to the top of my head right now is in the new boulevard they're making alongside the coast, where the name has JUST been placed. In gigantic letters. In concrete. Is there really a need to change this much stuff in such a crisis? No. Money-thieving it is.
Insane series so far Nick, Insane. Thank You for showing us first hand the hardships of living in Venezuela and how truly lucky we are elsewhere. Will be sure to donate to the soup kitchens

Is this title clickbait? I don't see where he got banned from the country in the video. Being told not to film in one spot is not being 'Banned in Venezuela'. There were lots of spots he got told not to film in North Korea and yet he never uploaded a 'Banned in North Korea' video, for example.
Re: Not filming in National Parks. The US has the same rule but it's only regarding those who would film and then sell the film or monetize it in some way commercially. If that's your goal the NPS is happy to offer you a permit. Tourists and casual visitors are free to film and photograph all they like.
That's mainly production companies. There's no way for a park to know who's going to do what with any video they shoot in a USA national park. I shoot tons of video as an individual in National parks all of the time. Even I'm not sure if any of it will ever be used for profit. I also work with small and large productions and they do need permits and there can be restrictions. Even they can be rejected depending on the nature of the production. You don't need a permit as an individual to film in a national park in the USA for a video that's going to be monetized on social media. Can you imagine rangers stopping every single person asking them what are they doing with their video? I once had a newbie ranger try and stop me from shooting. I asked him to call his supervisor as I knew I was within my rights to shoot. He did and I never heard from him again.
@btf The situation is much more complex than a fake news my friend, in my country many realities occur at the same time, one day you can go quietly to play soccer with your friends and the other there may be a shooting at the door of your house or you assault leaving high school. Said by a Venezuelan street in Barquisimeto, in the Lara State El falafel es demasiado rico :)
It’s so interesting and mind-blowing, honestly, to see a country that is not accessible to most outsiders. Thank you for going and showing the world what Venezuela is like these days. 👍🏼✌🏼🙌🏼

No-one talks about the economic crisis of 1983 (Black Friday). Economic crises in the 1980s and 1990s led to a political crisis in which hundreds died in the Caracazo riots of 1989 during the presidency of Carlos Andres Pérez. You'll never hear that here.
Barb wire and broken glass is par for the course in expensive areas in central and South America. Standard for 2 tier societies that don't have much of a middle class.

Yeah, perhaps what he should have said is that the use of these things have tripled in the last 10 years. I've got family all over the country, and the properties around both poor and wealthy places are covered in wires and fences nowadays, unlike years ago. Naturally there's no way for this guy to know this just by walking down the streets, a Venezuelan who's grown up here (such as myself) would have to explain this to him.

@@amandafaulks2515 I agree with you, but I think one has gotta be creative without being deceptive. From the title, I was actually expecting him to be deported from Venezuela by the end of the video.
The park incident illustrates well the "gatekeeping" behavior that also happens here in Brazil. A few months ago there was a case well spread by the media about this guy that was unemployed and decided to sell homemade chocolate candy on the streets, he was stopped by a cop and all his stuff got confiscated for not having a license to do so. While all of this happens, every day we get news that one more rapist/child abuser/murderer was released from prison to pay his sentence in liberty (not even having to get back to jail at night), which ultimately shows the example that you can do it and nothing ever happens. It's not all people that are like this, but there's this strong gatekeeper syndrome in people around here, when they get in a position of the slightest power they end up abusing it. Teachers that don't allow students to go to the bathroom middle class. You name it, the examples are there. For foreigners is so hard to understand because such silly things don't even crosses their minds. It's not only "the politicians", it's not only "the government's fault" and etc, the people are flawed. I can spend my whole life asking why is it like this and I will never find the answer, I just came to accept that this is the way and I'm not trying to change it anymore, I would ultimately waste my life doing that. You are welcome to visit these parts of the world, nothing against it, but personally I think that when you consider "what you're paying versus what you get in return for it" I think there are faaar better places out there in the world to visit. The only civilized places in south america at this point may be Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay (although this last one is cold most of the time and there's nothing to do there) xDDD It's sad because at one point Venezuela and Colombia were said to be top vacation destinations back in the day? Now look what happens when you get rid of "evil capitalists" off your country.
I have watched all your videos and you were never ever in any danger. You really were cautious and never went outside the box. Sad really, you had a chance to be a real vlogger but you chose the easy route. Hopefully someday you will grow a pair.
The Governmente changes the symbols that are references of our heritage and nationality in order to break our sense of belongines and end with all what can be a reference to attached to, different from their new symbols and references, that is why they changed the flag (added a new star) so this symbol now belongs to the new order, did the same with our shield, the names of the land marks and so on.
Hey mate nice vid showing the nicer side of CCS, take extra precautions outside of CCS though, hide any expensive equipment or foreign currency from police.
Now before you all hate on the Park Rangers so much, were inquiries made as to the rules about filming in the Park? I realise with the current unrest there, that it is difficult to "Call Ahead" to check, but before everyone gets to uppity, here in Mexico, you can film just about anywhere EXCEPT in the Archaeological Parks (Ruins) . Their reasoning is that they do not want other guests to have their experiences disturbed by cameras and there are privacy concerns. That said, you may have just run into a couple of low level employees who wanted to exert what little power they had so they could tell the foreigner what to do.
In the supermarket, everything was stocked side to side to look like it was full but there was nothing behind it Keep doing these videos, they're amazing

Loving the series, especially since I was born in Venezuela. I have a couple of editorial comments though, and they are strictly my point of view, so please don't take it wrongly because I think that overall you are doing a great job showing us the every day life of venezolanos. 1. I could do without the negative, sensationalistic Faux News intros. I get why you use those clips, to heighten the sense of danger about the country but if you are really trying to portray your real experiences in the country you don't need that kind of intro to sensationalize things. And 2. There's no need for the "cute" clips that you interject your videos with. I find them distracting and take away from the flow and interest of what you are presenting in the moment. Just keep it simple and present what you see, giving us your perceptions, as you mainly do. Thank you....

They change the names of most Natural Parks, streets, bridges and whatnot because they like to keep the impression that they are aware of indigenous people, which is usually the sort of names the usually give to places (the mountain visited has always been called Cerro el Avila, and the Chavez revolution changed its name to Guaraira Repano, influenced by indigenous languages). They also do this to appeal to the lower classes (which they always aimed to please) and give the impression that they are replacing everything the old governments established, which shunned the lower classes allegedly, seeking for social equality, which they sort of achieved by making most people poor and potentially eliminating the middle class, making the gap between the lower and upper classes even wider. Thank you socialism!

40 000 bolívares is NOT the average salary. It’s the minimum wage. It is NOT the same!
@terrance martins Yeah. Still pretty sad. But I think it is important to know true information if you truly want to be objective.
I wish more people would view the current struggles people in Venezuela now endure.
Yes, important message to share
Now, how about the late 20th century? Regimes under US influence with vast poverty and inequality of democracy.

@@chegu613 u would think people would know this n not go. But obviously not.

Many venezuelan people have earned their wealth honestly, not every rich person is a corrupt politician or bussines owner.
That’s what a socialist society want you to believe. I’ve met very honest, extremely nice, hardworking rich people. I have no ill will, towards them.
@@veronicam2942 a lot of people there built their fortunes trading and investing from the 50s to the 90s. Corruption and insecurity was still a thing but not systematic how it is now. Most of the honest and hardworking people have left to greener pastures I already
I am Venezuelan and left a while back
The ones who remains in Venezuela are linked to corrupt politicians or drug trade. I've a friend who ran away from that place and he said lots of disturbing things to me. The worse is that his family still love Maduro and live there. So he works here in Brazil and send money to his family in Venezuela since they don't want to immigrate because of their love for Maduro.
@btf yet they're not half as corrupt as many countries
@btf There is no worst blind man than the one who does not want to see.
I'm frustrating myself writing this lol
The real reason they changed the name was to steal money.
The people that own the business that only pay their employees $20 a month but still charge regular prices.

Now before you all hate on the Park Rangers so much, were inquiries made as to the rules about filming in the Park? I realise with the current unrest there, that it is difficult to "Call Ahead" to check, but before everyone gets to uppity, here in Mexico, you can film just about anywhere EXCEPT in the Archaeological Parks (Ruins) . Their reasoning is that they do not want other guests to have their experiences disturbed by cameras and there are privacy concerns. Too bad you couldn't go to the Avila. Lenin should have brought you to the top on the cable car and you could have filmed the whole thing. It's an amazing experience, amazing sight. I really enjoy your vlogs. I havent been in Venezuela for 7 years and based on your videos, I can totally see how bad things are. Keep up the good job.
Thank you so much for showing my country to the world. I hope you have enjoyed it and can come back soon to a Venezuela which everyone will be able to feel safe in every part of it.
Nick,Were you here in Caracas during the blackout?
You live in Caracas? How do you get by in regards to food? Do schools still provide lunch for children? I watch these videos to try to better understand the situation in Venezuela but I still cannot imagine it
4:02 - "Going Bananas over Mango's" - Goddamn you already made my favourite quote of August! hahaha
Nick, I'd love you do a similar one for the Philippines.
I second that!
The Muslim areas more interesting I think
Philippines is just turning to be the new Venezuela of Asia.
Hello everyone, So sad that they keep the world from seeing the beauty their country has to offer. Tourism could save there economy. But like you say they will openly share the suffering of the people unedited. It speaks to how backwards the government has become there. My heart goes out to the Venezuelan people. Our government wants to help but we are told to mind our on business.😞😞😥
kielypl9 government only wants to help so they can get their oil. Who’s the U.S trying to fool? Help them for the sake of helping them, not to get their oil.
I wonder if there is a country which is responsible for lack of medicine in Venezuela and Iran.
Yes. Both Venezuela and Iran. Ironically, Iran is largely responsible for our economic and political collapse.
I was born in Venezuela, left when I was 3 years old, basically I'm getting to know my homeland through you. I wish I could go back there. Thank you 🙂
Why can't you go back to visit?
@@timmalpass543 flights to Venezuela are very expensive and I can't afford it.
@@Sagadiniz one day I hope you get to go back, it looks amazing country, shame about what is happening, but I am convinced something so nice will get back to where it should be, good luck bro❤️
@@timmalpass543 thanks bro 😁
I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Although I am surprised that they didn't get on you sooner for your work showing the world how bad things have gotten there. I hope you get out safely, and best of luck To Lenny for whatever blowback might end up headed his way. :(
The editing/cinematic of your videos are next level mate, I like how you have a non biased pov too, you just tell it how it is🙌
Trying to find something wrong with the super market ?? Come on now!!!
Did you watch the whole video? It was very clear he was showing what he actually found so people can make up their own mind and next he’s going to countryside and will show you conditions there including grocery stores. Plus, availability is one thing, affordability is another.
@@r3d5ive87 Yes I did
I was blown away with the fresh markets set up by farmers right in the residential areas beside parks so people don't have to go to the stores when I was there 2 weeks ago
Lennysunday that’s great but what did he do that made it seem like he was trying find something wrong?
@@r3d5ive87 They were saying the shelves not being stocked and somethimg about a crisis .. Bad talking the good areas saying it has something to do with bad money ...
Didn’t know South America was so scarce with resources & supplies.
Lada cars were brought during the late 80's way back before this mess.
Doesn't fit the poster's worldview. Anyone who thinks that Russia is still Communist needs to go back to school
...nowadays there's a lot of iranian cars
