Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods on the East Coast of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we're so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. I'm at a really weird spot with depression in my life, but seeing the two of you tackle life and maintaining a positive outlook really gives me hope that I can make the life of my dreams as well. I'm taking slow steps to get there, instead of just wishing "one day." You both are a beacon of hope and optimism, and I wish you all the best.

Just so you ladies know a video every Sunday doesn't have to mean a completed project. Lots of youtubers put out a weekly video regardless of progress it can always be vlog style talking about where you are and the challenges of the project. Either way we will always be here no matwhrn the video goes up
100 percent agree!!! We, your fans don't always need a polished video. As projects go, it can be a 3-4 part video. Don't burn out on our account.

A small thought I wanted to share: I never click on a video expecting a fully finished project from start to finish. I don't even need a good story! I just like compelling and REAL people (which you guys are). I know the algorithm is something you will always have to fight with, but I think if you posted regularly even if it's just a run on the beach and a little chat, your subscribers would watch. 😉Happy New Year!

Agree. You actually are more detrimental with the algorithm too when you don't post regularly. I think that has almost been the only thing that hasn't changed with the algorithm since its inception, regular posting = higher algo engagement regardless of any other factor.
@@MattWeber Regular posting is only a tiny part of the algorithm. RUclips is watching dozens of metrics. Sometimes I look behind the scenes at what RUclips knows about the people who watch my videos...and I'm amazed. My videos aren't monetized, but for those that are, all of those things are important to RUclips when they are selling advertising.
At 72 I have had a full life... done and tried most everything I ever wanted to. Traveled a great deal.
I don't know if you girls can possibly realize the contribution you are making to the world through the sharing of your lives.

Balance - so important. My dad retired at 57. Full retirement (Europe) but everyone questioned it because benefits were reduced. He and my mom (who didn't work because of Fibromyalgia) got to spend many years together, riding their bikes to cafés and even traveling to the US to come see me. It turned out to be the right choice: my mom passed away of a stroke at 59 and my dad at 69 of Alzheimer's. Balance means you don't wait to enjoy life until you're retired...and it might be too late. Glad to see you back. Have a great week!

My son Sean and I would watch your channel every Sunday. He had a very agressive case of MS and sadly lost his battle in December, he was 33, I think roughly your ages. First we got such a kick out of your van travels, doing all the things we could not do, and then we were amazed !!! at you cabin bulid videos. Thanks for the update! Hope you’re enjoying Australia! I personally never complete a project in a week and don’t expect your projects to be done either. I don’t see anything wrong with the siding, or inside ceiling updates over several months.
I always watch your videos to the end. When we got to the end, my dog barked 'We love you, Pack!' in response to yours. Bark for bark, it was so funny and made me smile.
If you haven't got one for your cabin a sawmill would be a great addition to your cabin. They sell some great small systems. Save on lumber costs. And manage your forest well.

After watching this video, I have one thing that I want to share. As an older woman (considerably older), I can say that success has so many definitions, and the one that is often lost when we're younger is successful connections with family and friends. It's great that you have such a successful YT channel...I'm thankful for you. Being successful in your chosen career is a wonderful thing. Finding balance is even more wonderful.
It would make me sad to know that you were spending time entertaining me when you'd rather be spending time with your family. I'm 62, and lost my Mom a few years ago. I was not as good at maintaining relationships as I could have been. I regret it, and it's unchangeable. So you have to do what feels right in your heart. You have to do that.

Already excited! great to see you- I am in recovery from cancer and I would like to continue regaining a level of health. I also need to make some nesscary home improvements. We missed you and were worried for you because of the extreme cold. It was 6F this morning and we've had snow and ice and have been home bound for a week. :o

New Year's, for me, is just another day. There is too much pressure with crafting resolutions and then trying to live up to them. I want to focus on being the best person I can be daily.
Each day is a day for growth or a day for relaxation.
My struggle for 2024 is do I retire or not. Up to this point I wasn't worried but the upcoming election for the USA has me very concerned. The outcome of it will impact a lot of things in our lives. Not going any further into politics and I ASK that others not turn this in to politics. No matter who wins there are concerns and issues and that plays into do we retire now or later.

Hi Jaz and Crystal 😂 it's so nice to see you back. I've been watching you since you first started clearing around the cabin and building your road. Having lived in Northern Ontario for 20 yrs or so I could really relate to the blackflies and mosquitos you were dealing with lol. Right away I was impressed by your spirit(s), your love of dogs, and your "go get it" approach to so many challenges (and an awful lot of hard work and long hours).
I'm a 73 yr old retiree and have very much enjoyed living vicariously through your great passion for life. I'm a great believer in the "yin & yang" of life and that events in our lives simultaneously contain both good and bad ... the victory over the last set of problems and the challenge of the new problems that will replace them. The winds of change are energizng, as we see in your latest video, and they can also be troublesome.
I'm very happy to see you moving forward in your lives, sorting out where you want to be and who you want to be. I'm also aware of feeling uncomfortable about the change. I've become very comfortable with our vicarious relationship. You've done a fantastic job of reassuring us that you're not abandoning us 😘 You are already dealing with the yin & yang. You are such wonderful people!

We have used our similar tractor since 2007 to keep our community road in good shape, clear ground, and build drainage projects, rock walls and more. Weve built a few rooms, a deck, retaining walls and a mountainside parking deck. Thats over 18 years. What you do has been amazing in such a short time. If we dis videos, we'd still be on the first project. 😅

Beautiful update. I love that you are thinking of the bigger picture. Life goes by to quickly having lost my dad then my mom 8 months after, fallowed by more then a douzen more friends and family member, and a few other life impacting changes. I can't stress enough to everyone hold the people you love tell them you love them and take time to spend time with them. Tomorrow isn't promised.
Every day I fight the fight to stay positive to be stronger then my multiple mental health illnesses and other disabilities.
Having this community has been my saving grace, my safe place, where I see I'm not alone and I receive so much inspiration. I love you all, The Pack for life 💞

So glad to see you again! I agree that RUclipsrs stop making content for various reasons. I'm hoping to get back to it, but since my partner died, I just want time to grieve. Life is what happens when you're making other plans , but still make plans :)
You are like having friends for coffee. And thank you, thank you so much for sharing your hearts, your minds and thoughts and feelings. And keeping it all real. RUclipsrs and their (your) lives are so a part of each of our lives (as viewers) when we get to have a peak into your adventures and explorations. And you are not machines. Seeing and experiencing your insights each time we tune in and see you, whether it is weekly or bi-weekly, or whenever, is SO special. I'm so glad that you've chosen to self-care, self-regulate, and take care you and your families through moving into this next year. What is all of your hard work worth if you can't put down your cameras and have a human and soul connection to what you have been creating?! I can only speak for myself, but as a fellow human who takes care of dogs and the land for friends on the west coast of Canada, the times that I get to "doless" in and be present, allow me to be uber-present with those that I need to be with the public view and my work life.
