@@kas1755 I must admit I cringed. Nursemaids Elbow is a thing. Though I was even more terrified of the fact that they live on a cliffside with only a waist-high picket fence and low bushes to keep their toddler and dog from falling to their death.

*1:14* The way Davy cleaned up his daughter Talia's face was priceless. This was a great interview to watch because Davy showed how genuine he was in the way he answered the interviewer's questions. Ironically, the name David means "beloved"--he showed that he was a loving person by the ways he treated Talia and his dog. I've also had the pleasure of meeting him personally three times. Davy gave me the impression that he was a warm, genuine person who truly appreciated his fans. Rest in peace, Davy; I'll love you forever,
Its so sad how they harped on the Monkeys not being a real band in the past. Thank God they finally got over it. They were four personalities who created wonderful music that will span the test of time. It is just great music. No more , no less
I read an article recently that stated The Monkees will NEVER even be considered for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. It seemed intentially cruel to me. My mom bought me ALL their LPs. I was in 4th grade. Do other 4th graders get Rock LPs bought for them? Cuz I did. They were very commercially successful. The HoF is as dumb as getting an Oscar. Very political. Elitest.
@@kathyuk28 Noel’s accent is quite muted and polite for a Mancunian accent, but Liam’s is awful, not very indicative of most Mancunian accents, I’m from Reddish, in Stockport, which is on the border with Gorton and Opsnshaw, and Debdale Park where Davy bought his Dad a house. Most of us don’t have Liam’s accent. I remember I was on the bus once into Stockport, and this young guy, looked a bit like Liam, wasn’t him, and his accent was atrocious. "A man's got to know his limitations". Davy certainly downplayed his accomplishments, to point out any limitations. The perfect example of a "class act"!! R.I.P. Davy Jones- - -.
I was lucky enough to have met Davy in 1997 outside the downtown Cleveland theatre where the Monkees 3 were playing. I had my Labrador Cobweb with me, and Davy petted and admired my dog. I love Davy and I agree that one can tell a lot about the integrity of a person by the way that person treats children and animals!! Davy was obviously a good- hearted person, as well as being a talented artist!!! RIP DAVY
Davy spoke the truth in the last moment of this interview. He was a very fine actor! He was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in Oliver. If it were not for the Monkee's typecasting Davy I believe he could have had a more diverse acting career. Davy could have been another Dudley Moore. Who could imagine Davy Jones as 'Arthur'? Don't get me wrong, Dudley was great, but Davy could have played that part.
His drama skills were quite minimal tho. The Monkees pilot pretty much flopped because Davy was the leading character there and he was so lame. So they remade the Monkees formula: Mike was made to be the lead actor and others were just funny ones, more like supporters. And it worked. Davy was good on dancing, laughing, shining, heartbreaking but not as a lead actor.
I remember a clip where he was staying at a hotel & befriended a swan I think it was. He was so kind & compassionate to the swan. Seemed like a genuinely kind- hearted person.Adorable too!🤗💕
That's so true he looks really young here I think cause of his height and baby face he was able to pass for much younger when playing Artful Dodger Plus he played an 11 year old on Cornation Street when was like 15 or 16 years old
Davy was just too cute and amazing! I love how he cleaned off his daughter's face with spit. My Mom did that with me! It was just fine, back then. 💕💞♥️💜💙
What a humble young man he was.I agree with ikantdanz as well.As a young teenager he and his other three partners made my teenage years even more happier. He and Peter Tork are missed by me.

I agree. I always love the clips from 69 and 70 when there were just 3 or 2 Monkees. Also this was a really interesting time to be interviewing David. Fantastic find!
His house looks precarious on that ragged cliff….theirs a short clip on youtube of him auditioning for the Monkees and he’s utterly charming and endearing.

Too bad for him that things didn't turn out as he seemed to think they would....no acting jobs turned up other than bit parts in TV shows like the Brady Bunch (as himself) or Love, American Style....and musically his career struggled mightily, save for the continual 5-year resurgances of Monkeemania (DJBH in 76, Japan in 81, reunion in 86, etc)
He was trying to sound optimistic. I'm sure he knew his path was uncertain and he was unlikely to achieve the level of success he had previously. It didn't help to have a droll interviewer constantly asking Do You Wish. He's accomplished so much. Talk about that.
Do you have the episode of the show "Make Room for Granddaddy" with Davy on it called "The Teen Idol"? I don't know why that's so rare and hard to find unlike The Brady Bunch episode.
Because the BB ran for 5 years and then forever and MRFG was a flop and deservedly so. But I'd love to see that ep too! The few eps that are on YT are weak, only the Diana Ross ep comes off kind of good but that's because she's a pretty good actress and that's from someone who is NO FAN of hers.
