Hi Sam, I wanted to say that I really like your videos. I’m a non binary teen from Germany and I’m also really into music and a lot of other stuff. It’s just sad that there are a lot of misrepresentations going around, especially in the right wing media where being gender diverse literally gets demonised entirely. It’s no different here in Germany, though luckily it’s still not as bad as in the US. In reality we are just a minority of people and really don’t want to harm anyone else. Sure there are exceptions even among us, but these are really just the minority. Hopefully as time goes by, more people will start to understand more about this topic, because it really has gotten out of control in recent years.
Please keep doing what you do!

I enjoyed your video. Sadly, I think many people have become convinced that being trans or non-binary is somehow ‘political’ rather a true expression of one’s innate identity. This gives them false license to say and ask any sort of horrible or intrusive thing that comes to their mind. I personally wish more cos people would try to empathize with the difficult struggles those of us in the trans community face.

So true. I'm lucky my roomies don't hit me with 1000 questions they just vibe and it's all good. The only one that doesn't won't talk to me so cool.

I don't like being called a "lady" because I don't relate to the stereotype of the "elegant lady" as it gives me so much dysphoria about womanhood. So online, I politely tell people who call me the term to not call me that. Yesterday, one guy on Facebook, who I will call Doctor, accidentally called me a lady and I politely told him to stop like usual. Then, he said "I'm not playing that game. Your name is (not saying my name)." "I didn't do anything wrong and I won't be badgered by your ideals." "It's just a word. Take it how you will." I blocked him because he was being quite rude. Usually with other people, they agree to not call me that. But something in this guy just went off. I get that my gender isn't that common and I'm used to being misgendered online because my first name is feminine, but you don't assume another person online to be trans just because they don't like being called a term that they don't relate to. I just got an apology from an account claiming to be him and asked if we could be Facebook friends. I thought that person was a bot, I reported him as spam. I felt like I was the bigger person as I took the advice of my two best Facebook friends by blocking him. I get that he was trying to be nice, but when somebody tells you to stop doing something you need to stop doing it.

The part with the people thinking hormones are dangerous. I take the depo shot birth control and in a year my doctor has to check my bone density to see if i can take it any longer.

@@SamDowney oow that's hella sad , you deserve to be loved to 💕 , as a trans man I get you , it's hard and people just hate us but we need to keep going , I really appreciate all the work you are doing here , its educational and I like it , you seem really down to earth and smart, we need more representation like that , you are so cool and I hope some day I will have the confidence and strength to do the same 😅( I'm from Argentina 🇦🇷 , I speak in Spanish and I probably have made mistakes while writing this home monologue, sorry for that ☞ ̄ᴥ ̄☞)

Genuine question: how can you be trans and non binary at the same time? Isn’t that a contradiction? Trans implies that you are transitioning from one gender to the other but non binary means no gender

      @axis7644 Год назад +9

The term transgender can be used as an umbrella term. Using the term in that context changes the meaning to changing your gender from what you were assigned at birth. So that being said the gender identity non binary is under the umbrella term transgender. I hope that helps!!

The "trans" term is a greek word and it means "change from a condition to another", not from one gender to another. You are transitioning from being cis to non binary, therefore you are trans. Only cis people are not transitioning from anything to anything, so they are not trans.

Adding to the reply above, nonbinary can also be an umbrella term. Nonbinary doesn't mean 'no gender' it means your gender isn't strictly man or woman, but something else entirely. I'm agender, which means I have no gender, but there are others under the nonbinary umbrella.
      Demiboy
      Demigirl
      Genderfluid
      Librafaun
      Libradoe
      Genderflux
      Genderqueer
I can go on and on. Though some use nonbinary as a gender on its own, there are many other nonbinary genders. Some are a mix of genders, or half a gender, or change genders along the spectrum. Some transition through surgeries, and some do not. Like myself, I want top surgery but not bottom surgery.

Trans and Cis are the opposite spectrum, and they are medical terms...similar to AFAB/AMAB. The rest is social conditioning... hope that helps. ✌️
