The P-51 captured my attention as a young boy. But as soon as I discovered the Reno event in the early 2000's this bird with that UNMISTAKABLE sound won my heart. The beauty of the mustang will always be there but in my opinion radials are the business, and 232 will always be No. 1
Indeed. While it's not as good as being there, 6:20 gives you a sense. It's unique among all the duplex cyclones I've ever seen/heard at the races & will always be a fave. I could listen to her drink in the cool Stead air all day long.😁
@@dougkubash8673 She screamed at full power!! The plane had one of the rare ‘slow’ nose cases on the engine which kept the prop tips from breaking the sound barrier, so you pretty much heard all engine as it went by.
I got to take a ride in a Hawker Sea Fury using a small jump seat. In spite of being rather uncomfortable, the experience was out of this world. Despite its size, it seems very nimble, and the sheer power is earth shaking!
@@michaelangelo7511 Oh no, this is just a custom tiny canopy for racing, the stock bubble canopy was much bigger, and provided very good all around vision.

Sure miss seeing 'September Fury.' What a BRUTE!!
Another great vid
My man 😎
I do wonder if you can go see this plane cause the last time I first saw it was in 2008
@@CalebT_RC The plane is in a slow restoration back to stock at Sander’s Aeronautics
There's a 4:36 video by voodoo1650 from 2013 where 232 has this vortex kind of howl when she passes by. I get vulture bumps every time I see it.🏁🏁🏁
Wonder what happend to all those planes ...
I that the one that blew up its engine? Did they get that engine fixed?
@@williambarry8015 The engine blew up pretty badly in 2007, and the team had it completely rebuilt for the 2008 season.
Poor visibility. Tiny cockpit in a huge fuselage. This plane must have been impossible in air to air combat.

@ Thanks so much for your reply. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Such an exciting aeroplane. What was the weight of this in race trim?
